Sadly the sunbeds seem to be reserved often not occupied, it needs to stop all the best areas taken so early, I even went down at 8.30am to try get a good spot but no luck

Everything was great. The buffets fantastic, the gym & pool area great, the room was spacious. Entertainment was fun. We did the a la carte menu one night. It was fine but actually the buffet is better. But what really stands out is the staff. Friendly, helpful.... can not say enough about it. Great stay and would recommend.

We always enjoy our stay at RIU Monica. It is very easy to arrive by car, plenty of room in front of the hotel to arrive then find a parking spot or use hotel parking lot. I really enjoy room with a balcony, rooms and the hotel are very, very clean. Gym has a few bikes, rowing machine, eliptical, treadmill, and a few weight machines. There are so many great spaces inside and outside the hotel. Both breakfast and dinner are excellent, you can sit outside over the ocean (by heaters if needed). The restaurant staff is incredible, very professional. This is adults only hotel. Also, it is an easy hour drive to the Alhambra (drive up and spend a night at Aurea Washington Irving, also very easy to pull up and take your time to get in and staff will park your car for $25 a night, you can easily walk to Alhambra from hotel). We are usually in Nerja in January, weather is generally 60s and sunny, water temp is also around 60 so swimming is not too bad. We are in our mid 60s and are very active, this hotel really suits us well.

This adults only hotel is lovely. It is right on the beach. I got a free upgrade to a room with a porch looking over the pool and the beach. Although I thought I was getting a buffet breakfast included, a buffet dinner was also included. For the most part the food was good but not great. I found that at supper if I chose main dishes that were in some sort of sauce or gravy they tended to be hot whereas other mains often got cold. I was disappointed that the extensive dessert section was loaded with cream, milk, ice cream… all impossible for me as I’m lactose intolerant. But there was also fruit available. I just wish they would have at least one pastry cake etc every night without a major dairy component. The indoor pool was a real highlight for me as the outdoor pool was way too cold in March. I would definitely stay in this hotel again off season. I’m guessing the entire Costa del sol is way too crowded in summer.

Excellent séjour: calme, literie confortable, buffets de bon niveau, propreté irréprochable, parking facile dans l’hôtel (hors saison !) procédures de check in et out faciles (internet). En saison, comme partout ailleurs, le parking doit être problématique mais la situation de l’hôtel est idéale.

This property is beautifully located right on the beach. It is however a much older clientele. We felt out of place as two younger travelers. I would choose an airbnb that is near the city center if you are younger. The people that were enjoying the property looked very happy and the place is spotless!

We liked the position of the hotel as it is out of the centre of Nerja but is less than a10 minute walk into the centre. The hotel accommodation was very good and the bed was very comfortable. There was entertainment each evening was usually of a good quality. Not all of it appealed to us but we enjoyed some good acts. The food was very good in the main hotel restaurant and there was always something different in the buffet. It was disappointing to have to pay for the use of the room safe as free use is a standard in most decent hotels nowadays. It would be nice to have the option of some activity around the pool during the day as otherwise it is quite a boring atmosphere. We ended up hiring sunbeds on the beach most days which was much more entertaining.

I had a lovely 2 week stay at Rui Monica. The staff were very friendly , Food delicious lots of choice, very good entertainment in the evenings. So easy to get to the beach front from Hotel. I had a little accident were I fell and the staff were amazing so kind, caring and helpful. Antonio the manager was lovely. Thank you all for your kindness and help.

Lovely staff who changed my room according to my preferences and gave me one of the best ocean views in the complex. Very relaxing atmosphere, convenient location, and excellent amenities. Staff were very friendly and super- helpful to my 93-year old mother. Nothing was too much trouble. All the staff have been there many years and recognised us as return guests. Mum loved the indoor pool, as the lifeguard lent her a 'noodle' to support her. All-in-all an excellent stay at a great hotel where the staff make the difference.

Our first time at the Riu Monica, we were not disappointed, very friendly staff who were all keen to help. Excellent location alongside the beach, a short stroll into the main old town of Nerja. Good food options with buffet breakfast and dinner. Drinks very reasonably priced.

Very friendly, helpful staff and very good choice and qaulity of food in main evening restaurant and beach bar for snack menu. We loved the day trips to Mijas, Malaga and Frigliana....Grenada trip next time for us, as on day we arrived and left....

Dejligt hotel som ligger tæt på vandet. God mad i buffetten og altid venligt og smilende personale. Vi fik et værelse på første sal, som ikke havde meget havudsigt. Vi spurgte om opgradering i receptionen og efter 2 dage flyttet op på 3. sal helt gratis. Fantastisk service. Det ligger i kort gå afstand fra Europa de Balcon og gågaden. Kan helt klart anbefales.

A friendly hotel with very good food, in a nice area. It is in its own little area but very close to the centre. There are some very good cafes, bars and restaurants opposite the hotel as well as a couple of small supermarkets. It is right on the beach with some amazing sunsets and sunrises. Good wifi and tv, indoor and outdoor pool and extensive sitting areas. The food choices were extensive and all high quality with outdoor dining options.
