It is the perfect place to stay when going to Spark Arena. The place is beautiful if you like historical places. It was raining when we came, a lot of leaks in the lobby. Also, no toilet paper in the lobby toilet. The room is spacious, clean, and have everything we need for our overnight stay.

Property was amazing but very confusing where you get there as to how to check in as everything is locked up and no one around. Luckily the linen guy turned up while I was there and he helped me. Apart from that don't have any grumbles. Poor things got hammered in the flood so there was a bit of dirt etc around but to be expected. Comfortable bed, nice room. Shower pressure was far too hard (who ever says that). Couldn't even shower properly as when the water hit the floor it threw the shower head up and washed the roof. Actually hurt to have a shower.

Amazing heritage building, being the old Railway Station. Rooms are tidy and well equipped with kitchenette, heaters, fans etc, with access to a large kitchen and laundry. Can be a bit noisy being an old building and is next to the railway line on one side and Spark Arena on another side.

Definitely outdated rooms. When we checked in, we were given a room that wasn’t clean. Then the room they ended up giving us, had a broken AC. No amenities. Very very basic hotel in a neat historic building

It was fine. No amenities. No cable TV. Quite basic. Location made everything walkable and we only slept there so met our needs. The old railway station was quite cool with the architecture and such. Overall if you need a cheap place to stay that is secure and comfortable I would recommend.

A nice basic setup with some kitchen amenities located in an old rail station for some ancient. Indian restaurant onsite for convenience. Really close walk to Viaduct area, SkyTower etc. Some steep hills so consider rideshare or Transit if mobility is an issue. Parking was easy, right out front but limited space so pre book! Would stay here again.

Stylisches Gebäude, aber leider nur von außen, Freundlicher Mitarbeiter, der uns nach dem Check in zu unserem Zimmer geführt hat. Allein hätte ich es nicht ohne “Navi” gefunden, da Zimmer total chaotisch angeordnet. Das Hotel war in einem sehr alten ehemaligen Bahnhofsgebäude drin, auf dem Weg zum Zimmer viele unangenehme Gerüche und alles sehr runtergekommen, auch das Zimmer … viele Flecken im Teppichboden, alte runtergekommene Möbel. Die Bilder vom Anbieter zeigen da etwas anderes. Duschen ab 20 Uhr nicht möglich, da Wasser kalt. Betten waren jedoch sauber und bequem . Bad war auch sauber, Shampoo usw. Sowie Kuechenequipment alles vorhanden. Für 2 Nächte war das ok, da der Preis gut war und wir vom Northern Explorer nicht so weit mit den Koffern laufen wollten. Es gibt da viele bessere Hotels in Auckland…

A very utilitarian property. The amenities were all there in our room and it was quite clean, but totally lacking in charm. The onsite restaurant appears to be permanently closed. The old railway station building has such potential, but it hasn’t been realized yet.

For an extremely fancy building, it’s very old school and basic inside. It was nice and clean and good sized rooms, but all other facilities were very basic. Perfect for a budget trip.

Unique setting. Arrived in evening, checked-in through gated desk. Very noisy with kids playing in station ? Long term renters or emergency housing with a shared kitchen for their cooking. Room ok - recently renovated but black mould and cobwebs in windiw. View unkep back yard. Booked 2 nights but left after 1 night. Seemed better by daylight but wouldn't return. Sorry, don't like placing a review like this. Staff however were good.

I felt the room was very overpriced for a very basic room but it was clean & tidy with a nice bathroom. Right next door to Spark Arena which was convenient for our concert, the lady on reception was lovely, showed us to our room & gave us a later check out time. Take earplugs though as very noisy outside all night.

Unfortunately we were unaware that the very loud railway ran right next to the building, outside our windows. Woke us up every time it went past. The restaurant downstairs was quiet and unassuming but the food was delicious. The room itself was alright, I really appreciated that it came with a hairdryer. Very clean. The foyer was beautiful.

The architecture in main areas was grand. The rooms were very basic. Of course it was the prior Grand Central station, so trains still run. Therefore noisy.

Great place to stay! Lovely staff! they were really helpful. Definitely stay again. Just as a side note, don't go to nearby restaurant called Platform 8.....worst service ever. Felt like I was a burden for asking for one Indian (no other type of food available) dish. Read Google reviews.

Arrived at this property in the early evening to check-in, however the reception desk was shut. There was a sign with a phone number but my calls went unanswered. Without anyone there to facilitate the check-in, I left and found alternative accommodation. Someone from the hotel phoned later that night to ask if I'd be checking in. I explained the issue I had and they agreed a refund should be provided, however it's now almost two months later and I still don't have a refund. Arrived at this property in the early evening to check-in, however the reception desk was shut. There was a sign with a phone number but my calls went unanswered. Without anyone there to facilitate the check-in, I left and found alternative accommodation. Someone from the hotel phoned later that night to ask if I'd be checking in. I explained the issue I had and they agreed a refund should be provided, however it's now almost two months later and I still don't have a refund. My room was cleaned daily and the staff were friendly - however the check in process was confusing as the staffed hours were incorrect and the building was locked when I arrived which was unsafe. The remainder of my stay was okay and the building had everything it needed and was in a good location.

Good place to stay for value and convenience. Newly renovated rooms. The staff there were amazing, came to get me from the carpark and carried my bag up to the room (night staff). Thanks heaps!

It is the perfect place to stay when going to Spark Arena. The place is beautiful if you like historical places. It was raining when we came, a lot of leaks in the lobby. Also, no toilet paper in the lobby toilet. The room is spacious, clean, and have everything we need for our overnight stay.

Front desk people were incredibly polite and helpful. The location is excellent for getting onto trains in and out of Auckland. It is located in a historic building that is just beautiful. We dine at the Indian restaurant in the lobby of the old train station building and the meal was very good. We also walked around the neighborhood and did some shopping for food to take on the train. There are many restaurant options in the neighborhood. It was very convenient for us to get on the train to Wellington, which is only a 5 minute walk away.

It was fine. No amenities. No cable TV. Quite basic. Location made everything walkable and we only slept there so met our needs. The old railway station was quite cool with the architecture and such. Overall if you need a cheap place to stay that is secure and comfortable I would recommend.

A nice basic setup with some kitchen amenities located in an old rail station for some ancient. Indian restaurant onsite for convenience. Really close walk to Viaduct area, SkyTower etc. Some steep hills so consider rideshare or Transit if mobility is an issue. Parking was easy, right out front but limited space so pre book! Would stay here again.

I felt the room was very overpriced for a very basic room but it was clean & tidy with a nice bathroom. Right next door to Spark Arena which was convenient for our concert, the lady on reception was lovely, showed us to our room & gave us a later check out time. Take earplugs though as very noisy outside all night.

Spacious rooms with good amenities. Friendly staff. One of the best budget hotels we have stayed at. Very attentive staff who went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Initially a bit dubious what we had booked when walking towards our room but once in our room we were impressed. Good size living and sleeping area and bathroom appeared recently renovated. Easy walk to town. Ideal venue if staying to attend concert at Spark Arena.

Unfortunately we were unaware that the very loud railway ran right next to the building, outside our windows. Woke us up every time it went past. The restaurant downstairs was quiet and unassuming but the food was delicious. The room itself was alright, I really appreciated that it came with a hairdryer. Very clean. The foyer was beautiful.

Great place to stay! Lovely staff! they were really helpful. Definitely stay again. Just as a side note, don't go to nearby restaurant called Platform 8.....worst service ever. Felt like I was a burden for asking for one Indian (no other type of food available) dish. Read Google reviews.

A very utilitarian property. The amenities were all there in our room and it was quite clean, but totally lacking in charm. The onsite restaurant appears to be permanently closed. The old railway station building has such potential, but it hasn’t been realized yet.

Very convenient location for Mode car rental - same building - and easy walk into the city or quay area for shops and restaurants. Stayed here one night after an international flight before starting a trip around North Island - would do the same again in future. Great old building, high ceilings, and very helpful staff.
