The location right on the beach is great, especially that it is the largest one in the area. However, not the best for surfing, punta uva is better. The open air kitchen has everything and works great. We had the double bunk room and it was very comfortable but a bit small, overall fine! About 2min bike from grocery which is great, and ~8min from downtown Puerto Viejo. Unfortunatly the hostel restaurant prices (and drinks) are too high for the backpacker crowd, so the only social happens in the kitchen/eating area. I would suggest the hostel bring their prices down and most likely make more on volume. Would have loved too have some beers/food there, but prices were better elsewhere. Overall, it was a great week and we would recommend!

Greeted by the beautiful vibrant Alejandra at Reception, we were guided into this clean and spacious private room with a friendly welcome. This is one of the Best hostels we’ve had the pleasure of staying at. Options for dining in at the Sage restaurant or several others options within walking distance. Hammocks and cabanas provided throughout the property located right on the beach. Alejandra and staff are so loving and warm, it felt like family. We enjoyed it so much we extended our stay. Alejandra and staff offer a chill vibe and is contagious throughout the hostel and community in Cocles and Puerto Viejo attracting like minded travelers. Alejandra is so loving she even through me a birthday party, including cake and watermelon, inviting all the guests to gather together. I was truly touched. Alejandra’s attitude was not only excellent service but also felt like love.

Staff were great! 1st “deluxe” private room with bathroom smelled terrible, so I had to move out. They were very nice about moving me to another smaller room, ok. AC, no fan. You can hear all conversations in the hall and rooms next door. Expensive at $60-70 for a private room! Restaurant and bar expensive too. But most people stayed in dorm rooms for $19 a night, a good deal. Common kitchen and areas to hang out. no amenities, not even shampoo. safe parking worked for 2-3 cars.
