The property at Fireside Inn is decent but not well maintained. We first stayed there in 2021 and it seems to have gone downhill a bit. We stayed in the Ponderosa unit this time and were not fans. It’s at the front of the property so you hear all the road noise. There is no porch to sit and have coffee in the morning or just listen to the birds in this unit. The room is all wood paneling so extremely dark. The bathroom sink was leaking and got water all over the floor - we reported it upon checkout so hopefully they’ll fix that. We might stay again and pick a different unit but there are other local places to stay that have better grounds and upkeep. The biggest plus is that it’s close to town so easy walkability to everything. Nice to have a wood burning fireplace too for an evening fire. Kitchen in this unit is small but also nice to have a full mini kitchen. There are trade offs so it depends on what important to you.

Stayed 1 night

Absolutely loved our 1 night stay in ‘Fern’. If you want a one bedroom room that’s really more of a private little lodge with a renovated bathroom and very cute kitchen, this is the place for you. Private but close to town. 21st C touches like automatic check-in with code (provided via text) was great. Room was spotless and retained charm of why one visits Idyllwild.
