Kona Kai was EXACTLY the vacation we needed. Everything was lovely,. Sunset kayaking and hot tub to follow, can’t get better than that. We loved grilling in the outdoor charcoal bbqs for dinner. Can’t wait to come visit again!

This place is a gem! Beautiful grounds, perfect pool temp, hot tub, right on the ocean. Just a gorgeous little place! Room so clean and fresh. Lady who manages the place so friendly to everyone.

Love that it was in the beach facing the water. Have to note when to close the shutters - when people show up on the pier to enjoy the sunsets and sunrise. Apparently quite visible to anyone looking in. Lol! Lots of kayaks, paddle boards, ping pong and other games. Love the warm pool. Great location. And definitely love Katherine - she was very welcoming.

Beautiful and quiet setting. Lovely bungalow nicely decorated. Pool and gardens excellent. Complimentary kayak and paddle boards were great fun. Perfect for viewing the sunset. Helpful suggestions for eating.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. WiFi is spotty at best, so if planning to work or in our case watch a football game, be aware, service may be in or out. The accommodations and amenities were perfect otherwise. The dock is perfect, the hot tub warm and the kayaks are ready to go. Close to excellent restaurants.

Individual “apartments“ surrounded by lush foliage, and winding brick pathways. Kayaking, tennis/pickle ball, shuffleboard, ping-pong on site. DeeDee and staff were the best! Lots of individual seating and dining areas to enjoy the water including a unique pier with superb view!

This was a very nice resort! Rooms were comfortable and quiet! Beach was clean and manicured! Beach toys staged for use! The only thing I saw was the hammocks were weathered but pool area very nice! Staff was very friendly and welcoming! Art gallery at the front desk was nice! Wonderful place for couples to get away!

The resort was a great place to unplug! Adult only, clean, private and quiet. We were upgraded upon arrival to a waterfront suite which provided any necessay kitchen appliances and accessories as well as an updated bathroom, king size bed and roomy living dining/bed combo. The host recommended eateries and attractions and offered to make reservations if needed. There were kayaks and paddle boards for the guests to use free of charge and plenty of chairs to just chill. Also table tennis, corn hole, pool and hot tub. Our second time here and will not be our last.

This property was absolutely amazing. It was like staying in a Botanical Garden. The foliage and landscaping were nothing short of stunning! There were lots of cozy tables and chairs scattered around the property in perfect shaded locations. There were also nice hammocks, lounge chairs, free use of kayaks, a filtered water & tiny ice bits machine free of charge as well. The office/check-in area was very, very nice and served as an art gallery as well for local artists. Every one of the staff members we encountered were very friendly and pleasant. Both Zee and Dee Dee at the front desk were awesome! We enjoyed our stay here so much that we even extended it by another day. This property is truly a Slice of Paradise and we will certainly be back!

This property is a beautiful oasis with its tropical garden, private beach and cove in a perfect location to take advantage of the nearby outdoor activities. The room is clean, well equipped and comfortable. Check in/out process was easy and the staff was receptive to requests, friendly and kind. Would love to stay here again!

Liked the room (fig) next to the pool. Did have a few issues with ants in the room. The tub was nice but the jets did not work. Staff was extremely friendly and hard working keeping the place clean. Nice beach and dock area that was well maintained.

10/10 — Amazing Stay! I absolutely loved my stay here and honestly can’t complain about a thing. The room had everything I needed, a super comfortable bed, a fridge and microwave, and the entire space was spotless. Everything smelled so good, even the soap! You can tell they really care about keeping the place clean and welcoming. If I had to mention one small thing, the towels were a bit yellow instead of bright white, but it didn’t take away from the experience at all. The scenery was beautiful and truly felt like an escape from reality. The sunset in the back was stunning and definitely a highlight of my stay. Overall, a wonderful experience and I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful, relaxing getaway.

Cathy and her whole team made our stay an amazing experience. From the beach towels laid out on the bed to the welcoming fruit basket and waters, the room was clean cozy and quiet. As for the resort, it was perfect, you often felt like you were the only ones there so you could relax on the dock, in a hammock on their beach or in the pool. It truly is a place we will come back to and I can't recommend it enough! Oh and the gallery has some amazing art!

This hotel was amazing. Out Lychee suite had a full kitchen, sitting area, dining table, 1 bedroom and a private courtyard. The only downside is they have what i assume to be some frogs that get very animated at night. They seemed to hangout by our bedroom window. Had a little trouble falling asleep with the frogs, they did not get the memo on quiet time. Other than that perfectly amazing! We got to see nurse shark, a manatee and dolphin. Would definitely book again just pack some earplugs due to the frogs

We loved our stay at Kona Kai! It's a small resort, 14 rooms but spacious enough to enjoy. Dee Dee was wonderful about welcoming us to the property and showing us around. We made several friends during our stay there. The rooms were large enough and had amenities such as mini frig, glasses, etc. The beach was beautiful and you can enjoy the most beautiful sunsets there. We really enjoyed the paddleboards and kayaks and being able to use them at our leisure. We can't wait to return!

Nice large room. Firm king matress. Very good air conditioning. Could make room really cold. TV small. No microwave. Nice 4 cup coffee maker. Good size under counter frig that was cold. Nice friendly staff. Nice beach access in lagoon type setting. Very cool and unique property.

We originally booked Kona Kai for one night but we loved it so much we stayed for three nights. Kathryn and Zee, the office staff, were both a pure delight and very helpful. The room we had was like a small apartment and very well equipped. Nice private beach with kayaks, paddle boards and iguanas provided. There is a fairly decent restaurant across the road but it would be great if Kona Kai had a restaurant or bar too. We would definitely stay here again.

Cathy and her whole team made our stay an amazing experience. From the beach towels laid out on the bed to the welcoming fruit basket and waters, the room was clean cozy and quiet. As for the resort, it was perfect, you often felt like you were the only ones there so you could relax on the dock, in a hammock on their beach or in the pool. It truly is a place we will come back to and I can't recommend it enough! Oh and the gallery has some amazing art!

We stayed at this property for for one night on our way back from Key West. I wish we had booked a few nights here. When we arrived our room wasn't quite ready (we arrived before check-in). Z was apologetic and gave some suggestions for where to grab a drink while we waited. When we returned, still before normal check-in time, our room was ready. Z (I hope i remember that correctly) took us to our room (mango) which was lovely. She asked if we needed the king bed because she had an upgrade with a better view available. We upgraded to the pineapple room. What a view!! The property was beautiful with great amenities. We will be making a trip back to Kona Kai Resort in the future.

What a great find this place was, such a lovely relaxing resort with plenty of space to relax and unwind and helpful friendly staff. The pool and dock areas were great with kayaks, etc. available to use. Kathryn was extremely helpful in answering questions before we arrived and organising an excursion for us during our stay. We received an upgrade to the room we had initially booked which was a pleasant bonus. All in all a great place to stay.

The resort was a great place to unplug! Adult only, clean, private and quiet. We were upgraded upon arrival to a waterfront suite which provided any necessay kitchen appliances and accessories as well as an updated bathroom, king size bed and roomy living dining/bed combo. The host recommended eateries and attractions and offered to make reservations if needed. There were kayaks and paddle boards for the guests to use free of charge and plenty of chairs to just chill. Also table tennis, corn hole, pool and hot tub. Our second time here and will not be our last.

Quiet & beautiful surroundings. A very peaceful and relaxing mini resort on the west side of the heavy trafficked Overseas Highway in Key Largo. Took full advantage of the kayaks & hammocks. Well-manicured botanical surroundings including the entrance to the pool area. On our next return will definitely use the small BBQ's that are available outside the adjoining cottages. Interiors were modern and decorative, including a powerful shower. Location close to Tavernier and Islamorada, plus if you wanted to visit Key West it is only a further 2 hours or so South. A couple of tasty casual and reasonably priced spots in Ballyhoo's (lunch & dinner, across the street) and Harriette's (Breakfast & lunch, just a short 6 min drive away). Will bring the boat next time!

Stayed here for one night and wish I stayed longer. Great hotel, close to everything, had paddle boards and kayaks, which we used twice in a single day stay. Staff were kind and welcoming. Pool and hot tub were great, and the view, just Wow! Would come back again and recommend to all my friends and family. Rooms were clean and nicely decorated. Every inch of the place is perfectly decorated and thought out. Loved it!

Kona Kai was EXACTLY the vacation we needed. Everything was lovely,. Sunset kayaking and hot tub to follow, can’t get better than that. We loved grilling in the outdoor charcoal bbqs for dinner. Can’t wait to come visit again!

Kona Kai was perfect. Relaxing, quiet, wonderful staff and the other guest were awesome. Free kayak and paddleboard usage was great - it was our first time using a paddle board and I literally just ordered two. The only thing that would have been better is if there was food on site, but Ballyhoo's directly across the street was great as well on those days you don't feel like venturing away from the resort. They also have tennis courts, ping pong, and cornhole. We absolutely loved this place. We were originally going to go to a traditional much more expensive resort, but are so glad we decided to go to this quaint resort instead. We went to two nearby 4star resorts for food and were glad we didn't go to them as the vibe wasn't the same. We will definitely be back to Kona Kai!!

Loved staying at this beautiful little resort. We enjoyed sitting by the water. Or sitting on our private patio reading and taking in the view. We even had our favorite little squirrel, among the wildlife there. It’s a relaxing place. The pool and spa are nice and mostly, we were the only ones there. Snorkeling is a must do and we recommend Pirate water sports. They are great. The Fish House was our favorite place to eat. The staff here are so friendly and help with any questions you have. We truly enjoyed our stay here.

What a pleasant surprise! This property did not disappoint at all. The Staff was very nice and professional. They sent us clear helpful instructions and called us to verify info. The property is very clean and cozy. Feels like a private home on the water. They are in a great location close to everything. Short 1-2mins drive to supermarket and restaurants. The pool and hot tub were very nice. They offer SUP and Kayaks for the all guests to use. The room we stayed in was perfect for the two of us. The bed and bedding were very luxurious. The room has a mini fridge and they even stocked it with a couple waters and fruit. The bathroom was remodeled and had extra towels and toiletries. They have a couple picnic areas, BBQs and some amazing water and sunset views!

The resort was exceptionally relaxing and peaceful with the tropical landscape and the well-kept beach. We enjoyed kayaking, paddle boarding, pickleball, corn hole, ping-pong, the pool and the hot tub! The rooms are spacious, condo/apartment style and very comfortable.
