AmericInn by Wyndham Sleepy Eye

The hotel staff was great and accommodating. However, the hotel was not prepared to host a large family in town for a funeral. We had to wait to get blankets for the pull out couches because what they had was in the dryer. One party with our group checked in later in the evening and their room wasn't cleaned yet. There was no pool towels and no extra room towels. The hottub was maybe like bath water, but not hot. The breakfast was stocked once in the morning and some items were out within the first hour. First floor rooms smelled musty or like a tomcat. The AC in the large room of our suite did not cool. Overall nice staff just not ready for a full crowd.

This hotel is great. Although the property wasn’t planned very well as there is no elevator.

We were there with our sons hockey team. Hotel had to be 90+% occupancy just frilom the two hockey teams staying there, yet they were non tolerant of any noise from the kids. They kicked the parents out of the lobby. Just doesn't seem smart considering you are almost exclusively booked with the families you are hassling. Also, had two rooms. Planned on having my kids stay in the second room. Was told upon check-in when I asked if they could be close by eqch other "the rooms are already assigned." No apology, no further explanation. Also, loaded up the luggage cart and walked aimlessly searching for the elevator, while the front desk guy ignored us. Keep in mind he just checked us in to a second floor room. Finally I asked if they had an elevator. "Nope" was all I got.

All outer appearances to be clean and welcoming. BUT, I walk outside by the door closest to my room and was unable to get back in and had to walk clear around the hotel to enter thru the lobby. When I went to take a shower, I let the HOT water run for a minute, but it never got above LUKE WARM, during the shower it wet to ICE cold.

Water didn’t get above tepid, food for breakfast was limited and was not being restocked, no one at desk most often to get help, had to get new key cards every time we went out, guest service worker said she couldn’t help me, then went back to microwaving a sandwich, opening it and playing it before coming to assist

Went down at 8:15 and all there was for protein was eggs that my husband wasn’t sure if was actually eggs or pancakes due to lack of flavor. No meat available and nothing was refilled. Coffee was out as well. Our room was clean however others in our party arrived to the hotel around 8pm and room hadn’t been cleaned. We had to share our towels to other rooms as the hotel didn’t have any extra towels. We had the majority of the hotel full due to a funeral.

Staff was friendly and answered questions. Hot tub was cozy. Hotel provides a breakfast with several options.

Staff were helpful at check-in. Parking lot was full of potholes and gravel.

Floor in our room needed vacuuming. Otherwise everything was nice.

Check in process was very slow, though I did the online check in and booking. Stood there around 15 minutes while she got our room key. Hair ball on the bathroom towel. Breakfast was very sub par. Everything was gone with only 1 family in the breakfast area. Juice had a watered down taste and French toast looked and tasted terrible.

Overall our family of 5 really enjoyed our stay at Americinn by Wyndahm Sleepy Eye. No complaints about lobby/pool area. My husband and I would rate their breakfast satisfactory - nothing to remember, but there were enough options to chose from. The best part of our stay was the staff. They were friendly and very helpful! As far as our room, there were definitely some areas for improvement. We stayed in the King 1 Bedroom Suite with 2 pullout couches. Here are the things that could be improved upon. ■Neither pullout couches had sheets or bedding available anywhere in the room, but there were enough pillows in the suite. ■All 3 mattresses were visibly worn/old. The mattresses were functional and comfy enough, but visibly stained/used. ■The TV stand in the bedroom was actually falling apart. It was a cheap piece of furniture that had ran its course. The drawer didn't work and it seemed the screws were stripped which caused it to wobble back and forth. It should be replaced because if someone runs into it with any amount of force, it would definitely topple. ■There was garbage left underneath both couches that was visible when we pulled them out into beds and we found 2 dirty forks next to the king bed in the bedroom. These were only minor issues to us, as we are not very high maintenance people.. However, I did want to make these suggestions because to some people these small things add up which could leave a customer feeling poorly about their stay.

It was a great place to stay. If you’ve ever watched Little House on the Prairie, you would know that Sleepy Eye was one of the places they talked about. I was excited just to stay there. The room was very nice and quiet and it seemed like a very safe area to stay.

The room was clean and the bath was as well. A/C -heat worked. Bed was OK but not overly comfortable. The pillows were bad. Too small and very lumpy or too soft.

Staff was excellent. Heater/AC unit in the living room was inoperative, heater/ ac unit in the bedroom was very noisy.

I was pretty disappointed with the stay here overall. The staff was nice, but it was 96 degrees outside and after having been outside all day, the air conditioning did not work well in our room. We had it on full blast, and we were hot and sticky the entire night. I could hardly sleep because of how uncomfortable I was. There was not enough hot water for each of us to take a shower and I’m not sure why, but the floor was wet from the bathroom to the bedroom area. Maybe it was because we were next to the laundry room or maybe the guest before us somehow got the floor wet. I believe the hotel was fully booked that night, so it’s possible we just got a really bad room, but I’m hoping we can get a refund because the experience was so bad.

There were no tub/shower handles and the tub was VERY slippery with no texture or grips on floor. I ended up slipping and falling out of the tub and I was being very careful. Fortunately, I was not injured, lucky for them.

Check in took long. Gave us a room that was already occupied. Had to get different room keys.

Front desk was confused as to how someone set up our room as I booked through Expedia. He was going to charge me, but I said I already prepaid the room. It was odd. Only hotel in Sleepy Eye and not to mention very expensive. Water did not get hot in shower either.
