Lovely old hotel right on the beach. We had an oceanfront room with great view. Room was small but newly renovated and charmingly decorated. There was no closet though or place to put clothes. Not even a luggage stand. Staff was friendly and helpful. Lobby had lots of different areas to sit, read, work, watch TV, or eat (your own food).

Street parking can be difficult to find but honestly it wasn’t bad. This is right across from the police/beach safety pavilion. There are stairs so if you are disabled heads up. Would absolutely stay again.

Staff was very friendly and helpful but the property needs updates. You need to clearly state that there are no elevators on property. Many updates are needed for rooms and property. Like doors, darker window blinds that close, bathroom.

The hotel is outdated, but clean and the location is excellent. The rooms are small. The lobby is lovely and there is a sun room and porch. The staff is excellent. It reminds me of an old shore boarding house. I would recommend it because it is clean, the staff is very nice and accommodating and it is directly across from the beach!

Common areas (lobby, halls, entrance) are horrible- musty smelling and old. But the room (203) was fine - spotless, newer flooring, minimal bedding, walk in shower with great water pressure and a small refrigerator. A view of the ocean was worth the extra money and the area was lively during the day but quiet at night.

Great stay - welcoming and friendly staff , very helpful! - comfortable room and bed - beautiful view I had in the room. Room was clean and bright ! Pool is great! Located Right across from the beach. Only negative ( nothing to do with the hotel or staff) is the off site parking in the area- very difficult to park. But if you're lucky , I was, you can grab a spot in front / close to building! Just a " heads up" no elevator... Overall, great place to stay in a safe environment ( Belmar NJ)

The Mayfair offers up Victorian charm with modern amenities. It’s a grand old lady of the shore. It was spotless, my room had a wonderful coastal vibe to it, and the view of the ocean from my window was magnificent! The staff was incredibly friendly, and the concierge/proprietor(?), Theresa, was awesome! So accommodating! This was my first time staying at the Mayfair since I lived at the Jersey shore for over 40 years. When I go back for a visit, I know where I’m staying!

Beautiful ocean front view room was very clean but the bed is a fold out cot. Glad I brought my own pillows staff is very helpful and friendly lobby is laid out beautifully with flowers and decorations would be nice if they pumped in some nice music came on off-season but I’m sure parking in the summer could be a nightmare

The staff was friendly, and the room was clean. In the off-season, the on-street parking was easy, but I doubt that's the case during the summer. Unfortunately, the heater was left off until we asked at the front desk (because there's no phone) that it be turned on. Then it went full blast, so we actually needed to open the window overnight to cool the room to a bearable temperature. There's no thermostat in the room. The bed seemed flimsy and creaky, and the mattress was thin, old, and uneven. Also, our ocean-view room did have a clear view of the ocean out its (ordinary) window. However, the room was not set up to look out the window, so watching the waves required sitting up on the bed without support. We knew about the lack of an elevator, but visitors should know that it's a steep climb up the stairs.

The front desk woman was so rude and disregarding only thing I liked about the one night was the few from my window and the beach so close. If she wasn’t so nasty I probably would have been able to enjoy it more

Lovely and quaint hotel. The folks were so gracious and friendly! A minor suggestion....the rooms needs a mirror!. I was in town for a wedding and wasnt able to "check my look"..lol.. otherwise, a highly recommended property.
