Stay Inn Ely

I was driving a big work truck, and parking was a little tight. Check-in was easy, once I got the door code for remote check-in. Its an old building with creaky floors, but remodeled, clean, and very cute. Shared kitchen is a nice feature.

We had a lovely stay for 2 nights. Room was clean and comfortable. Shared kitchen was nice and the outdoor patio was great place to relax Communication with host was timely. Make sure you take advantage of the offered amenities.

Had problem accessing room with new password entry locks. Had to wait about 20 minutes for a person to arrive to provide assistance. There is not adequate lighting outside the Evergreen room to be able to see the numbers on the password entry pad to succeed in accessing the room. Loved the dining/gathering room and kitchen availability! An appearance update for the "boutique" experience would be to have the pillowcases on the bed be pressed/ironed. The crinkled, un-ironed edges on the pillows looks tacky and lacks a professional appearance, if going for an upscale boutique look/status. Everything else was great! Would come back again. Evergreen room was very clean. A light breakfast through Northern Grounds was enjoyed in the morning.

Wouldn’t stay here again. Drove past the hotel 3 times before “finding” it. Hotel sign not very visible. There was a few sticky, black marks on floor of hotel room. There were no batteries in the remote for the television. I called the after hours number and told them and they said they would try and find someone to bring batteries. The “Ivory” room were booked is advertised with a television and cable tv. You need a remote control to work the tv. I would never stay here again. It has been about two hours since I reported tv remote not working. I have not heard anything back from anyone.

Lack of parking space

This was a really cute and comfortable hotel. There isn't a lot of parking, but there is enough space for each room. It might be hard to spot because the sign is small and sitting on the ground. Would definitely stay here again.

Poor parking lots of up and down stairs

Couple of minor issues, but were quickly resolved. Such a cozy feel inside the Inn. Cute place, nice location, not the best parking situation but made it work.

Quaint little inn right downtown with easy access to shopping, restaurants, and bars. The rooms were well appointed and had everything we needed and plenty of space. The common area downstairs was perfect for snacks/meals and an all around welcoming space to relax by the fireplace and meet some new friends! Don’t forget to stop at the coffee shop with fresh locally roasted coffee and fresh baked goods! Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Our room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable but nothing to see out of windows except other houses. Would have liked a vanity in bathroom, pedestal sink is not convenient. The one thing I would say that we didn't like at all was that the parking spaces were so limited.

It was pretty good. We're use to someone being onsite for immediate assistance so this experience with a "self serve/self help" situation was different for us. However, when I called the owner Adam for assistance he was VERY helpful. We would stay there again. It was very neat and clean.

Our room had no place to hang towels or coats. No closet and no level surface in the bathroom for incidentals near the sink. Gravel was hard to control and the stairs had not been swept.

I liked that the room had everything we needed the cleanliness and comfort. Property was unique. Enjoyed our stay!

As somebody who is allergic to dogs, I guess I would have liked a bit of a heads up that they allowed animals on this property. There were several clumps of dog hair left behind on the ground throughout the room and the bathroom. I did take photos, but I did not alert staff. We did not spend much time in the room, we pretty much were just there to sleep. Pretty pricey for just one night, but it is a tourist town so it was expected.

Was such a Cute unique place to stay. Very clean.

Beautiful Inn with a fully stocked kitchen and everything you need in your room. We loved the pine walls and wood floors. No nasty carpet especially since it’s pet friendly. We will be definitely be back!

Indigo is a beautiful knotty pine room in the rafters! So cute. Suggestion for room darkening shade on street side due to light outside. Also replace bathroom mini blind so people don’t have to shower with the town! Propert immaculate and quaint!

We stayed here 3 nights with our two dogs in the Crimson Room. We enjoyed the great location and walkability around Ely. Other than a dusty headboard the room was very clean. I also liked the convenient access with key codes. The Crimson Room is really small and with our bags, shoes, and two dogs who slept on the floor, it was a real challenge. The private entrance was a nice feature with the dogs. It would have been nice to have a shelf or side table or something to set things on. The only place to lay anything down like a phone, keys, or a cup of coffee was on the headboard of the bed (which was very dusty). They do need to fix the interior door to the Crimson Room. It's loose and anytime someone else opens or closes a door in the rest of the building the Crimson Room door rattles. Another thing to keep in mind is the place is covered in wood (floor, walls, and ceiling). It looks nice, but there is little to no fabric anywhere and that makes every little noise audible. When I was laying in bed I could hear people going up and down the stairs at various hours. The first couple nights we stayed, there were guests in the other rooms that decided to party and be loud in the common area till late in the night which was annoying. Overall, I would say it's a great place to stay in the right situation. Like if you have a large family gathering or a large group, it's a nice idea with the shared common areas.

This was the cutest little place to stay the only thing is the light from the patio so not shut off and their is nothing to cover the window on the door other than that the place was great

Loved the Ivory room. Bed was very comfty and the room clean and cozy!

Stayed in the Indigo room and it was just lovely. The beds were comfortable. The place was very tidy and neat. Everything was provided down to the Q-tips and cotton balls. I will definitely stay here again and recommend it for anyone who wants to be in the downtown area close to everything within walking distance.

Quaint property with an interesting history. Our room (Indigo) had missing blinds in one of the bathroom windows so it took some acrobatics with the shower curtain to preserve our modesty. Could do with more counter space in the bathroom and a desk chair to go with the vintage desk in the bedroom. We liked the shared kitchen facility . Nice location in Ely, within walking distance to shops and dining.

The Stay Inn is very convenient to shops and restaurants. The complimentary coffee and bakery item at Northern Grounds a block away was wonderful! Stayed 3 days and owners dropped a canoe off for me to canoe in the BWCA for an afternoon! Included. They were quick to respond to any questions. I really appreciated being able to bring my dog with me to the inn. Having a kitchen and sitting areas inside and out was very homey. The other guests were very friendly. The room was cozy and spotless with lots of towels and toiletries. Roku TV with Netflix and Amazon prime. I highly recommend staying here if your in the area. I would stay here again. Loved it!

Would not recommend. You could tell it wasn't dusted recently but otherwise it was ok, small rooms. The service was terrible, however. I left a pillow in the room and immediately called and spoke with the owner about this. She informed me that she would promptly call the supervisor on duty and that she would have this individual contact me to arrange when I could grab my pillow, before I left the Ely area. This never happened and I tried calling back before I left Ely and spoke to another supervisor whom assured me that this pillow would be mailed to me. This was mailed to me, however, this agency billed my credit card without my approval, voiced that I would be refunded, and then was ignored and not replied to again. You can find better places to stay regardless but the customer service was extremely poor, and remains poor, as I made every effort to obtain my belongings before leaving town and was never told I would be charged $30 for shipping.... not cool

The room in the picture wasn't the room we got. Otherwise, it was fine. There is no staff at the Inn. I would stay there again.

The breakfast was not real you could go down the street to a coffee shop for coffee and a croissant. One person working line out the door. Worst part we had the phone number for local contact called her she said 2 minutes we waited 15 minutes and just left we were just trying to check in at 3:00. I rarely complain but this was not a very well run facility.

Not much to like, Called twice and left messages about the lack of heat no one returned the calls. Very limited parking and it was so dark in front we had a hard time finding the entrence. It was NOT worth the money spent to stay there. When returning to Ely We will stay in a different town before going back to this place. When paying $170,00,a person should get a warm clean room at the very best. We have stayed in better places that cost less than 1/2 this amount. We deserve some monetary consideration to make it right,

The place is basic a a good value -- There is no "front desk" or on-site rep. Look for your email for access information. Also might be a little hard to find as it is a house on main street Ely. Just rely on Google Maps and you'll be fine. Parking in on the side of the house or off the ally in back.

Wow, so impressed! This cute house turned Inn is in town walkable to everything. There are 5 bedrooms with use of the common area living room with fireplace, dining area, kitchen and dining table on the outside deck. We were in The Crimson Room which had an outside entry door too. Coffee and teas, games and books and cards are available. Free coffee and a breakfast item was provided at the coffee shop one block down the street. Refrig/freezer was nice to keep our drinks and cooler items cold, ice was nice to have for cold drinks. Our room was cozy with built-in bed, little sofa and large bathroom. Everything is new-like, no carpet anywhere so smelled nice, and in excellent condition. Self check-in was easy. We met other nice guests while we were there. I would highly recommend if you are ever in the area. Thank you to the owners for such a great stay. We will definitely be back.

The end was exactly what we needed. We stayed in the indigo room and were able to bring our dog with us. It’s so close to everything and getting a breakfast. Breakfast pastry and coffee at Northern grounds was the icing on the cake. The indigo room is on the third floor so there are a lot of stairs involved. People should realize that. the Inn has been remodeled with naughty Pine everywhere and modern fixtures. It was super clean and beds are quite comfortable.

I booked this place primarily because it advertised breakfast and the picture on the hotel site showed a nice picture of breakfast. There was no breakfast, only drip coffee and a small selection of muffins. They would not even let us get hot chocolate for our kids instead of coffee or a donut instead of the muffin. So I think it was overpriced and I wished I took the cheaper hotel option. that was a little father away that probably had the breakfast they advertised it came with. I felt a little deceived.

We enjoyed our stay so much. It was upgraded, clean, quiet, and comfortable. Having access to the full equipped kitchen is a great feature of this hotel. Breakfast at Northern Grounds was delicious. The coffee at the hotel is Northern Grounds brand which tastes so good. I also loved the smell of soap products and toiletries they used. They also have the best customer service. Can't wait to go back and stay at this beautiful place again.

I liked how safe the building felt. I needed a code to get into the main building and into my room. I also enjoyed getting a free muffin and cup of tea (because I don't drink coffee) at the Northern Grounds coffee shop right down the street.

Really enjoyed the convenient self service check in. Room was clean and comfortable, and the price was reasonable for the season and area. The included breakfast from the nearby coffee shop was a nice touch! Will definitely stay again next time we're in the Ely area!

We were surprised when we arrived that there was no one present to greet us, just a piece of paper with door codes and basic rules/instructions. We were not aware that the property was basically an Airbnb or Vrbo. The property itself was clean and well kept. Our room was nice except for the bathroom. It had a pedestal sink, so there was nowhere to put toiletries, and there were no towel hooks or rods, so towels had to be draped over furniture in the room. The shower was great - no complaints there. The bed and the pillows were extremely comfortable - some of the best we've ever used. We were told that there was a "grab and go" breakfast, which was true but misleading. Breakfast was provided at the coffee shop a block and a half down the street, not in the building, and it consisted of a free cup of coffee and muffin or $7 off your purchase of other food. The food was good, so we can't really complain, but it was not what we were expecting. The TV used Roku, and we weren't able to find anything to watch, but that might have been our fault for not being tech savvy. The TV instruction page said to press the AT&T button on the remote, but there was no AT&T button. This was a minor inconvenience because we don't go on vacation to watch TV. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would likely stay again.
