Stayed for 5 nights and couldn’t really fault the hotel. All staff went out of their way to ensure our stay was as pleasant as possible. Received a room upgrade, breakfast had a good selection, evening meal at the restaurant was excellent with plenty of choices both western and Asian, pool was great with happy hour at the pool bar between 3-5, sky bar then continued happy hour from 5-7. Staying at the Palace Gate Hotel was indeed the perfect way to start our Cambodian Trip.

The service is what makes this hotel. The grounds are beautiful. Pool, halls, breakfast just amazing. At the spa i had the best massage of all time. The bed was comfy as was the shower but they seemed a bit rundown. Peeling wallpaper and chipped wood/paint. Breakfast buffet was great. The pool area was amazing. A really nice hotel.

Ehemaliges französisches Kolonialhaus mit sehr viel Deko aus dieser Zeit - sehr schick und edel. Direkt am Eingang des Royal Palace gelegen und unweit vom Fluss gelegen. Großer Pool mit genügend Liegen im Schatten. Gutes Fitnessstudio und schöne Rooftopbar. Personal: sehr professionell und sehr gute Englischkenntnisse. Zimmer: große, schöne Zimmer - wir hatten ein Panoramafenster mit Blick auf einen Palast. Großes Bad mit genügend Ablagefläche. Obstkorb gibt es bei Ankunft und Wasser wird 2 mal täglich nachgefüllt. Frühstück: sehr große Auswahl am Buffet mit asiatischen und westlichen Gerichten, wenig verschiedene Obstsorten. Cappuccino und Espresso kann bestellt werden.

We stayed here twice. It is a superb hotel. On our first visit, we were upgraded to a suite with a stunning view over the Mekong. On our second, we had a balcony room overlooking the pool. Both rooms were stunning, spacious and very comfortable, with very good sized bathrooms. There is a good sized pool. There was a wide selection of very fresh food at breakfast, and they had decaffeinated coffee, a rarity in Southeast Asia. The food in the restaurant was excellent. There was a two-for-one happy hour in the sky bar, which also served food. The staff were very helpful and friendly. One caveat: some of the rooms and suites face a nearby building and have opaque etched glass on the windows.

Very nice stay for a couple of nights. It is best to get around the area by using Grab rather than negotiating with people outside. Only cost 70 pence (UK) to go for a bite to eat at Bassac Street where you will find some nice bars and restaurants (highly recommend the Greek Restuarant and the Pizza place, we usually eat local but fancied a change having been away for nearly 3 weeks). Hotel has good pool and lovely view of the palace. Make sure you go up to the bar for sunset. Bet view of the palace at sunset in the city. Gym was well equipped but rather hot as air con hadn’t been on prior to our arrival. Breakfast was ok but not the best I’ve had on offer but by no means the worst. Plenty of hot and cold options. Lovely setting in 100 year old building with plenty of character. Would stay again.

The whole experience was fantastic! The staff, the room, the service, the food, and the location made our stay memorable. Although the hotel is in the city right by the Palace, it felt like we were in a beautiful resort outside a city. The only improvement opportunity we can provide would be about the entrance where guests come in for checking in and choking out. The entrance is not appealing. We got off on the street literally no hotel designated entry way for cars or for guests. The street right by the door was dirty and smelly. We were actually scared of entering the hotel. We wondered what we should expect from the inside based on what we experienced at entry point. However, once we got in, inside the hotel starting from the reception area did not let us down. The breakfast buffet was great with a good variety of choices. The staff were incredibly polite and helpful. The rooms were very clean, the poolside we incredible appealing and you don’t want to leave the hotel.

The suite was fine, and with a balcony over looking the pool. The bed was comfy with nice pillows. Cleaning was perfect. The rest of the hotel was kept spotles and a above most places I have visitet in Cambodjia. The staff was very helpfull at all times.

All the staff here like security, front desk, bell men are very helpful, attentive and welcoming. Especially, 2 young housekeeping ladies were very friendly, accommodating, made my room super clean and replenish all the amenities. The hotel location is perfect, very walkable to the river and right next to the palace. Very friendly and professional staff and the hotel is very clean and well maintained. The pool is very relaxing and the quality of pool food is excellent as is the breakfast buffet. Excellent gym facilities. The roof top bar is very nice with attentive staff and quality food and drink. I would give it 5 stars I'm sure, if I hadn't have been given a room on the 3rd floor directly under the rooftop bar, which closes at 11pm and then furniture and clean up went on until past 1am. The hotel did move me after the first night, to another room, but also on the 3rd floor, as apparently they were fully booked. This was no better, and after 3 nights of interrupted sleep I can only give a 3 star review on a personal level.

Right next door to the royal palace this is a lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The pool area is the highlight and centrepiece - an oasis. The rooms are large and comfortable - likewise the bed was large and amazingly comfortable. Pillow options available although we felt what we had was already good for us.

Staff really make this place - they are so friendly and welcoming throughout the property. Highlight is the swimming pool and being able to chill out during what has proven to be a heat wave during our stay. The breakfast buffet while being quite an extensive spread, creates a traffic jam. The room we had was a traditional style with heavy dark furniture and dim lighting making it feel oppressive. Huge room, comfy bed, decent shower.

All the staffs were attentive and full of hospitality. I always went out by Grab taxi, and every time a doorman would ask me the car no. and waved at driver to notify him. I am not used to using Grab, so it was really helpful. Also, at the restaurant, because of my health problem, I had to ask them to cook a special menu, and the chef always cooked as I asked him to, although it was a bit complicated. I really appreciated it indeed.

Stayed here twice at the beginning and end of my 2-week trip to Cambodia. Both stays were great. The service at the Palace Gate is IMPECCABLE, including reception, restaurant, spa, and cleaning. My room was super comfortable: huge bed and bathroom, hot shower, great mattress and pillows, AC worked great. One especially nice touch was the salt scrub in the shower. I liked the breakfast, especially the freshly made noodle soup, but the rest of the hot entries were not great, nor were the breads. I think this is the only area the hotel could improve. On the other hand, the dining area, overlooking the pool, is lovely. The hotel's location is excellent, just a stone's throw from the Royal Palace and an easy walk to the National Museum and the river. I had drinks at the rooftop bar one night; they were ok - nothing to write home about - and the food was a bit of a disappointment there too. Still, the hotel overall was terrific; I would absolutely stay there again. One note of caution: there is construction going on right across the street from about 7 am to 5 pm every day and it is pretty loud, so if you are planning a trip in the next few months, you might look at other options for the short term.

This hotel is outstanding and world-class! My declaration does not come lightly because over the years, I have traveled to 57 different countries and 39 U.S. states…staying in some of the very best places - I’m “qualified” to say this. So, what makes this hotel special? Aside from its great location along the Tonle Sap river, close proximity to the Royal Palace, and immaculate grounds and facilities, it’s the Staff who make all of the difference. From the baggage porters to the doormen to the Front Desk personnel, to the waiters and waitresses to the chambermaids - they are all excellent! Absolutely First Class people who make you feel welcome and feel that your every wish is their command. This, I believe this is a reflection of their culture, their personal character, and their leadership. A rudderless ship goes nowhere, but this Staff understands its purpose and mission while on-duty, and they all carry out their responsibilities with great enthusiasm and dedication. For example, upon my arrival, Assistant FO Manager Khuon Pisey already knew my name, had me seated with a cool drink, and took care of the entire check-in without my ever having to leave that comfortable seat. I later asked her only once to do something for me and without taking written notes, she completed my request flawlessly. She had given me her fullest attention and then made sure it was all done correctly without my having to double check. This is the kind of service you can expect here. Perfection!

Everything was good , but the exceptional part was that hotel staff would always come outside when I would get a Tuk Tuk cab to make sure those predatory drivers didn’t try to gouge me on a fare. I was very impressed with the care in which they watch over their guests .

Perfect location for seeing the sights in Phnom Penh. Next to the Royal Palace with an exit from the hotel that takes you across the street to the entrance itself! The most lovely roof top bar overlooking the Royal palace grounds. Just amazing. Pool was lovely and a welcome respite after a days sightseeing!

The location of this hotel in central Phnom Penh right across from the Royal Palace is absolutely perfect. The hotel is stunning, with many beautiful details including period furnishings, artwork, etc. The breakfast is excellent, as is the rooftop bar (with great views of the city). Lovely pool, terrace area and roof top bar. Room was nice, although we had a view of a bamboo wall which was masking an AC unit. Would have appreciated clearer communication of Happy Hour Rules (it’s two of the same drink, not two drinks for the price of one), and the laundry was the most expensive we have come across in Asia so far! Overall, still a v nice place to stay, and staff were very friendly and warm, remembering names after one encounter.
