Holiday Inn Express & Suites Shawnee - Kansas City West by IHG

Faucet in tub/shower was coming out of the wall. Barely enough water pressure for the water to come out of the shower head. Wrong products in shampoo/conditioner/body wash containers. Elevators out of order.

The pool wasn’t available for use till last night of our stay

Both elevators were out and we were on the 4th floor. Aircon was intermittent.

Heat wasn’t working properly at the hotel. We were there on coldest night of the year and room wouldn’t warm above 67. And we were much luckier than others. They ran out of space heaters. Only one elevator was working and it was a long wait to go up and down.

Limited hot water and no elevator.

The stay was just ok. The rooms were fairly clean. The elevator was out of service for my entire stay. I had to haul heavy luggage up 4 flights of stairs. The hallways smelled of natural gas and the stairwell like stale cigarettes. There was a trail of dead ants entering the stairway from the ground floor. A big bag of trash was on the floor at the end of the hall from my room for 2 days. My room was descent but I would not stay here again.

The property was under construction we found when we checked in. There was only 1 elevator that worked and it was very slow to go up and down 4 floors and the door was very quick to close before you could get in or out. The shower in the room was as slick as glass when wet. I almost slipped twice the first night. I inquired about a shower tub mat and was told I had permission to use a wash cloth to stand on. I had to buy a bath mat to keep from slipping in the shower. The breakfast room was very hot. the coffee was very good and hot. The breakfast was ok the pancake maker was fun to use.

There was dried cereal or something stuck to the tape and lounge chair, the room was humid which made me sticky, and it smelled weird

The cleanliness of this hotel won me over. I wasn't too sure about a holiday inn and definitely not express, but I based my decision on proximity to my destination, reviews and images. The room looked exactly like the pictures and it was soooo clean. The parking lot was a bit of a trek in the cold with luggage but I survived. The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. I would absolutely recommend.

The room was nice and clean. Big nice bathroom. Only complaint was our room smelled like mildew. There was a wall air unit on the upper wall next to one of the beds that appeared to be flaking mold or something onto the bed. Black flakes on the comforter.

Hands down the worst holiday inn we have ever stayed. An elevator was out of service, ice machine on 3rd floor out of service, there was food under the mattress of the hideabed. Room did not feel clean. Hallway felt like we were in the ghetto. I should have taken photos to document.

We enjoy staying at this hotel. The only downside is the WiFi very slow otherwise everything is great.

Stay was ok, One elevator was not working, and the internet in the room was completely unusable, Also there was an issue with being billed twice for my stay that got resolved right before I checked out. Also the construction made it difficult to get around.

The place is ok and I’d stay again if I needed to. The pool was small and didn’t seem like had the proper chemistry. The breakfast was pretty good for a hotel. The main issue was the noise. I don’t know if the people above us were having a raging party or if the walls and floors are paper thin but it was so loud we couldn’t fall asleep untill around midnight when everyone went to bed. We ended up just leaving the second evening and driving home because the noise above us was so bad.

We were traveling for 7 weeks!!! The bed we slept on was a dream!!! I could have spent the day just floating on that cloud!!! Thank you for service & hospitality!!! And the bed!!!

Room was clean and neat and comfortable. Morning coffee was burnt and orange was dark and old tasting.

This hotel was fine. It was nice and clean. For me personally, the mattress was too firm, but the pillows were nice! My only major complaint is the doors in this hotel close really loudly. We were woken up several times by slamming doors and accidentally slammed our own in the afternoon.

Great place to stay for a family. Rooms are a great size.

Cheap hvac not by window like all hotels. Right over the bed. Blows down all night. Imagine hvac for the whole room, focused on the bed. Made for uncomfortable nights rest. Only way not to have the hvac blowing directly on you is to pay their overpriced suite. Thermostat read filter needs changed. Meantioned it to staff. They didn’t seem to care. Who knows how long a dirty filter was blowing on us as we slept. Will not stay here again. For $150/night it was terribly uncomfortable

The room and hotel were clean and the staff was friendly. It was an okay stay. However the deadbolt on the door would not lock and the stay was noisy. We were on the second floor and were woken several times from the noise above us and doors slamming in the hall.

Great property, room was very nice, updated decor, large (had the suite) and clean. bathroom was spotless! Comfortable night staying here. Delightful breakfast. Would recommend to others.

They had great service, all the staff where very kind!

My son and I were there for a very brief stay before an early morning baseball game. The front desk employee was severely untrained on how to check in a prepaid room and at 1:30 am it was super annoying to wait for her to learn from whoever she had to FaceTime and wake up. When we got to the room it smelled pretty musty but seemed very clean and the beds were super comfortable and it was very quiet. The breakfast was decent and definitely welcome before leaving again at 7 am.

Employees were great. The lady in the afternoon especially. She was cheerful and she also handeled the issues she was dealing with like a pro. Everything else was Disappointing. For starters there card reader to open hotel rooms broke down and it made it so the employees had to come unlock our doors every time we left the room. That also goes with the Pool, we had to get let in. I also feel like the room felt dirty and we were lacking in towels at the pool and we had very few in our room. Also the air conditioner in the room was set at 78 degrees and it took a very long time to get it below 70. The room and the building in general were very warm. Before we went to bed, we were going to play some TV to get our toddler to calm down and relax. Unfortunately the TV near the bed was not playing cable. I looked behind the TV and saw that the coax was plugged into the TV. Thankfully the 2nd TV in the room was working but that meant not being able to lay in bed and instead sit on the couch. After a long day of traveling and site seeing coming to the motel exhausted and ready to relax, sadly instead the experience we received added to the exhaustion as well as caused un needed stress.

Had a great stay! Alex was a huge help and had wonderful customer service. He went above and beyond. The room was really clean and the breakfast was hot and yummy and plentiful.

Staying to be close to family. They accommodated us when we needed to extend our stay due to illness in our family. We appreciated being able to stay in the same room when we had to extend. We were grateful for their excellent service!!

The parking area was more than adequate, the room was clean and the staff super helpful. This hotel was doing some remodeling so we gave them a lot of grace. Not on the staff.

Parking is pretty inconvenient. Pretty far away from the front door, no matter where you park. Plus you have to walk uphill. The hotel is really not around anything other than a steakhouse. The free breakfast, including the drinks, were really gross tasting. We went down the street to a restaurant called Rize-N-Shine to eat instead. It was amazing there. I would highly recommend that restaurant. The front entrance staff guy was not very friendly when I called on the phone twice. The hotel smell was not the best. Good things- the rooms seem to be pretty clean and feel pretty large. Both of the rooms we got had small refrigerators and microwaves. The pool was heated.

Hotel was fine but freeway construction made entrance and exit very inconvenient.

Nice clean hotel. Staff was excellant. Elevator was broke, so stairs to get to room. Parking lot was a ways from hotel.

Everything under hotel control was awesome. Kind of tricky getting through road construction detours to get there.

Nice amenities good breakfast, could use some parking

We have stayed at this holiday inn express before and its been good. This stay was not as good. The exit to get to the hotel was closed and there was a detour to get there. That was not the hotels fault. We were on the 4th floor and the the elevator was not working off and on during our stay. The desk clerk did offer to move us to a 1st floor room if they didn't get it fixed. We kept our room it was a nice suite. The second day the AC wasn't working, they came right away and reset it. All in all our stay was good just unexpected troubles.The service was good just technical issues.

Easy to get to, polite staff, clean.

The location was p Erfect. Easy on and of to main highway. My bear feet test they were clean. But the parking lot was not safe. They did not salt the frozen sidewalks. Which made them very slippery.

We did not use the pool as the filter wasn't running and it looked very dirty. The staff was very helpful. The bed was very comfortable. When I poured the milk on my cereal for breakfast the milk was curdled. When I told the staff they promptly removed it. Overall, we would stay again.

Elevators didn’t work, water leak in the lobby, not much available for breakfast.

The hotel needs maintenance. Breakfast was late and the hot food was not good.

We had a great stay! The room was clean and warm on a bitter cold day! Everything in the room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of options! We enjoyed our stay and plan to come back when our travel brings us to the area!
