Great place to stay if you want to have a base near the south coast to go exploring. This is particularly good for those on a budget as the place has a guest kitchen which meant we didn’t have to spend loads of eating out. The whole place has a very chilled out vibe. Nice lounge and bar area.

The property has a great view of Eyjafjallajökull on a clear day and is within walking distance of the local grocery store: Krónan. Parking can be a challenge and is often full during the evening. I would recommend creating dedicated parking for guests who are spending the night there.

Die Zimmer waren sehr sauber, die Betten waren sehr bequem und die Vorhänge an den Betten waren gut. Die Sauna und der Pool waren natürlich ein Highlight. Es standen dafür immer frische Handtücher zur Verfügung. Der Trockner für Schuhe und der Trockenschrank für 1-2 Kleidungsstücke waren ebenfalls super. Ich würde auf jeden Fall wiederkommen.

We truly had a wonderful stay at Midgard basecamp! The staff were fantastic, the room was comfortable, the amenities were amazing(special shoutout to the shoe drying station) and the restaurant was delicious. We will gladly return next time we are in the area. Ps: we also booked a guided tour with them and it was a truly fantastic experience and a highlight of our trip, we can't recommend it enough!

Great food! Had a washer and dryer which was great to have . Owners have two cute labradors walking in and out of the lobby giving it a very relaxed feel and I would stay there again.

Parking was available at the hostel. I would definitely stay here again as it was very clean, quiet and adequate accommodations of showers and common space to easily move around. The privacy of my bunk was great and ability to have an outlet and light inside the bunk, and a locked drawer was absolutely appreciated. Lived this place!

We had a room for four adults with a private bathroom. The room and bathroom were very clean. Beds were a bit hard but not a huge issue. The breakfast in the morning was great and very convenient. Would definitely recommend this property for your stay.

CO2 levels unacceptable with three people in room (3000ppm) after roommate closed window when wind outside caused door to rattle.

Great place to stay! This is by far the nicest hostel I stayed in while in Iceland. The rooms are great- I love that they have privacy curtains on all the beds and huge lockers. The hot tub and sauna are a massive bonus, especially if you’re doing Fimmvorduhals and Landmannalaugar while you’re in the area. Showers and WCs are great, tons of them and roomy. Plus a small kitchen that gets the job done! Staff are also amazing, I couldn’t recommend this place enough!

The beds are VERY firm, so if this is an issue, this might not be the hotel for you. We only had one night here so it was tolerable. Staff was very friendly and there were some amenities like the sauna that we didn't try out so can't speak for those.

Midgard was the best! The staff were super friendly and so incredibly helpful. Our private room was so quiet snd comfortable after our long trip. But most of all the view of the horses grazing out our window was amazing.

A wonderfully cozy hostel. Staff showed me all amenities and walked me to my room at check-in. Bed curtains allow you to draw them shut and keep working under your own light, even if your roommates are asleep and want darkness. Wish I'd have given this place more time!

Gina at the front desk was absolutely wonderful, she was so friendly and happy, it just made us feel so welcome! Dinner was excellent and very very quick. We stayed in a private room which was a bit small, the worst part was the stomping that we heard consistently above us from 7pm through 1am. This was very frustrating as we are light sleepers. We did not get the rest we needed. I understand its a hostel but I am just unsure how there was so much constant activity until after midnight. Not sure we would stay again.

This was a great value and a great place to start our Iceland adventure. The friendly staff greeted us with lots of information and a smile. We arrived early (late morning) after a red eye flight and the staff helped us find a place to eat and worked on getting us into our room as soon as possible. Room was basic but clean and in great condition. We had private bath and everything worked well. The area in front of hotel is a little industrial but there is an adorable horse farm behind the property and this is what you see from the room and from the hotel restaurant and terrace. The on site restaurant and bar had great food and service and made our first day very easy. They also have a nice breakfast buffet in the morning for a charge. If you have time to shop, there is a grocery store walking distance and communal kitchen facilities (at least for storage of food). Not sure about cooking. We had a car and did our own thing but it also appeared possible to book tours and activities through the hotel.

The first to say is that Midgard Base Camp does not feel like the stereotypical hostel that one imagines. This starts with the lobby area that has a fun and cozy setup and the restaurant and bar area. Also, the room options are more than just a shared room with bunk beds and community bathrooms. Those do exist but we stayed in a private family room with a private bathroom. There is a hot tub and sauna that we also used. Gina, the hostess, is very fun and provided us with good information. The location fit our needs for our tour of the South of Iceland. There isn’t much else around this area to stay and Midgard offered a good option and is also close to various food options. We would definitely return.

This was a great value and a great place to start our Iceland adventure. The friendly staff greeted us with lots of information and a smile. We arrived early (late morning) after a red eye flight and the staff helped us find a place to eat and worked on getting us into our room as soon as possible. Room was basic but clean and in great condition. We had private bath and everything worked well. The area in front of hotel is a little industrial but there is an adorable horse farm behind the property and this is what you see from the room and from the hotel restaurant and terrace. The on site restaurant and bar had great food and service and made our first day very easy. They also have a nice breakfast buffet in the morning for a charge. If you have time to shop, there is a grocery store walking distance and communal kitchen facilities (at least for storage of food). Not sure about cooking. We had a car and did our own thing but it also appeared possible to book tours and activities through the hotel.

Great place to stay if you want to have a base near the south coast to go exploring. This is particularly good for those on a budget as the place has a guest kitchen which meant we didn’t have to spend loads of eating out. The whole place has a very chilled out vibe. Nice lounge and bar area.

Midgaurd Base Camp was the perfect location after a long day of travel, between the Golden Circle and the rest of southern Iceland. Parking was easy, delicious dinner and breakfast, comfortable beds. I stayed for one night and have no complaints, great value for money

First time in a hostel, didnt know what to expect but i was pleasantly surprised. It was quiet and the rooms were clean. The showers were not very clean and the breakfast had very few options so im glad i didnt pay for it.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when staying here but this place was above every expectation. It’s so clean, accommodating, the shared living space was so cute and comfortable. The food at the restaurant was so fresh and delicious. I will be back!

옥상에 hot tub 아주 좋습니다. 식당도 무지 비싸긴 하지만 맛은 괜찮습니다. 바로 근처에 마트랑 주유소같은 곳이 있어 위치도 좋습니다. 다만 방이 너무 작고 통풍도 잘 안되서 많이 답답하다고 느꼈습니다. 가성비가 좋다고는 말할수 없네요. 별 3개 하려다 hot tub 이 좋아서 4개 드립니다

We had a room for four adults with a private bathroom. The room and bathroom were very clean. Beds were a bit hard but not a huge issue. The breakfast in the morning was great and very convenient. Would definitely recommend this property for your stay.

I was a late arrival in a pouring rainstorm. But the key and instructions were outside in a wwaterproof envelope as I must have missed the part about there being no sheets, bring a sleeping bag. I had one in the car, but was too tired to go back into the storm to get it. Had a swearer, though. Breakfast was very good and staff had good advice about where to go and what to see in the area.

This hostel is nicely set up with curtains on each bunk for privacy, your own light and plug in. The staff were exceptional. The sauna and hot tub were a really nice bonus. I’d recommend staying here.
