Black Beach Guesthouse

Parfait pour une nuit. Notre chambre avait sa propre salle de bain. Tout était très propre, bonne literie. Une bouilloire + un petit frigo à disposition si besoin. Attention, pas de cuisine ! Endroit calme. Pas de voisins bruyants pour nous. Vous trouverez un Kronan market pas loin ainsi qu’un Super1pizza à 5 minutes à pieds (les pizzas y sont très bonnes).

We had a wonderful three-night stay at the Black Beach Guesthouse. The self-check-in process was super easy, and we really appreciated the location in Þorlákshöfn — just about an hour from Reykjavík and the airport. On our first night, we took a short walk to the local community recreation center, where a kind local recommended a nearby spot called Thai Sakhon. We gave it a try, and the food was great! During our stay, we went on several day trips — to Diamond Beach (about 4.5 hours away), Vík (around 2 hours), and Selfoss (only 20 minutes). We usually got back late, but one night we discovered another great restaurant right next to Thai Sakhon called Super1pizza. We ended up chatting with a friendly local there who told us about life in Iceland — it was such a nice, unexpected highlight of our trip. The area around the guesthouse felt safe and welcoming, even though it’s in a slightly industrial part of town. Þorlákshöfn itself is quiet but easy to walk around. We loved spotting Icelandic horses near the water by the local church (about a 10-minute walk from the guesthouse), and the Krónan grocery store just a few minutes away was super convenient. Our room was simple, clean, and comfortable — exactly what we needed after long days of exploring. The guesthouse only provides soap (no shampoo) and doesn’t have a common area or lobby, but that’s typical for guesthouses and didn’t bother us at all. Overall, our stay was relaxing, comfortable, and a perfect base for exploring

The room itself was lovely! It was a good size with a private bathroom! Location-wise, it was a bit out of the way with very limited food/activity options. It was right next to an Orlando gas station which was convenient. We stayed here as a home based for the Golden Circle and it was a great location for our purposes! Parking was super easy and free as well:)

Der Aufenthalt erfolgt komplett kontaktlos, da man den Zugangscode per Mail bekommt. Zimmer liegen im ersten Stock, zugänglich über eine Treppe oder einen Aufzug, der kein normaler war. Ich fand ihn etwas gruselig. Das Zimmer war nicht sehr groß, verfügte aber über einen Kühlschrank, 2 Stühle, eine Tisch. Erwähnenswert ist die Größe des Badezimmers. Hier konnte man sich kaum bewegen. Das Waschbecken war winzig und machte Zähneputzen zum Abenteuer. Die Dusche musste über eine hohe Stufe betreten werden. Eine Heizung gab es nicht, was bei den Minusgraden echt unangenehm war.

Checkin erfolgte per Email und Zimmercode, somit komplett flexibel. Zweckmässige Ausstattung, Kaffeemaschine und Wasserkocher am Zimmer. Stockbett ist aus Metall, wackelt und knautscht, für eine Nacht kann man es aber verkraften. Modern eingerichtet.

This is not a practical plan for travelers without local cell service.

Loved the kettle. Very easy access and not difficult to find at all. Clean, good facilities, comfy bed.

Super Unterkunft um Rundtrip zu starten. Restaurant und Supermarkt fußläufig erreichbar. Zimmer sauber, gemütlich und gut ausgestattet. Zugang mit Codepads etwas nervig.

The hotel was clean and bed was comfortable. It’s a great location. Last night the sweetest man knocked on our door and let us know to go outside and see the northern lights. He worked there. He went above and beyond to make sure we didn’t miss this spectacular view and was very kind, funny, and polite.

Can’t say enough about how this property surprised me. Outside looked ok but interior was fantastic. Modern, clean great look. Quiet at night. Nice Cafe Bristol about a block away.

Check in was terrible. check in instructions were not provided and contacting the owner was impossible as a tourist with an eSIM. Mini fridge was not cleaned out from previous guests. Cleanliness needed improvement. Beds were very comfortable. Continent and affordable accommodation.

Disperso nel nulla. Offre check in automatico. Purtroppo a noi è capitata la camera con bagno dedicato a persone portatrici di handicap e a mio avviso avrebbero dovuto indicarlo n la prenotazione. Inoltre avevano dimenticato di svuotare il cestino in bagno dai clienti precedenti. Non ci tornerei

The ventilation fan in bathroom can’t be turn off. At night, it is partially noisy. Called staff but solve it. It is clarified this is not required by local code. It should be the top priority in to do list for the owner.

Zimmer an sich sind liebevoll eingerichtet. Kontakt mit Eigentümern sehr nett und zuverlässig. Die Zimmer sind sauber. Das Badezimmer ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen, hat noch einen sehr hohen Einstieg und Schiebetüren. Wir hatten etwas Pech mit unseren Zimmernachbarn. Es war sehr laut. Die Zimmer sind sehr hellhörig. Schlaf kam sehr kurz. Zudem ist man zu den nächst größeren Städten recht zentral. Allerdings liegt das Appartement mitten im Industriegebiet, somit ist direkt drumherum recht wenig sehenswertes.

The shower was built up about 15 inches above the floor and was extremely difficult to get out of with wet feet for fear of slipping.

Værelset var fint og let at komme ind med den tilsendte kode. Rent. Der var dog meget varmt om natten og det lod sig ikke gøre at åbne vinduerne tilstrækkeligt så der kunne komme luftcirkulation.

Room was spacious and comfortable. Big step up into the shower so it wouldn't be good for everyone but worked for us.

The checkin is self service so be sure to check your email for how to get into the building as there is no receptionist. It was very easy to do though. We got to our room and it was clean and smelled very fresh. After spending the night we left and ran into the owner in the hallway. He was very friendly and helped us with our luggage. The Black Beach Guesthouse is a great choice. I would recommend anyone stay while in Iceland.

Checkin was a bit poor - the keypad on the door was not working properly and the phone number supplied was answered by someone who would not offer any help, just told us to send an email. We got in eventually after several attempts. Property itself was fine - clean enough, warm, comfy. Not an awful lot in walking distance though it is well placed to access some some great attractions (lava tube, Litle Hrutur etc.).

Twas a nice place had comms glitch though (never got email or text with how to get in, they did respond quickly on FB messenger when were trying to figure out how to get in), so a little anxious at the beginning.

As stated in other reviews it is in an industrial area with not much in the area. We found a great family restaurant around the corner. Great place to stopover while doing the ring road

Good beds. Limited services in a mixed industrial, residential area

Very clean and comfortable property. It is however in an industrial estate which is slightly strange setting for a good property. 10 minutes aways is a lovely black sand beach howeve and it is a good location for exploring the peninsula

This place is really in the middle of nowhere, but if you are heading east by the south coast, then it's perfect. We stayed here first stay after we arrived and it met our needs well. There is no staff. They give a code to the main door and code to your room. The room has the necessities. It's a no-frills simple suitable stay.

Unterkunft war sehr schon und modern eingerichtet. Liegt im Industriegebiet. Der Supermarkt in der nähe hat nicht viel Auswahl.
