Temple Place Suites

The elevator was broken for the entirety of my stay and there was no communication about it prior to my stay. I was on the sixth floor and me and my two guests had to make multiple trips up carrying suitcases up the stairs. The couch was sat on one time and on the first sit one of the legs broke so the couch was unusable for the entirety of the stay.

The best thing about this place is the location. It is a half block from Boston Common and close to all the stores and restaurants in the downtown. Boston is a walking town, and from here, you can cover so much ground if you have good legs. The entry system was very good, and the management is very responsive to questions or needs. I was in a 6th floor studio apartment, which had everything I needed for a short stay. The whole building including the elevator (that only goes to 5th floor) is old and creaky, but this is downtown Boston. The toilet ran continuously the first day but as soon as I contacted the manager, it was fixed immediately. Unfortunately the 6th floor clothes washer was beyond repair, but the manager gave me the code to the 5th floor, and I was able to get my clothes washed and dried before I left for my next destination. As you can see from the photos, decor is not what makes this place stand out. It was definitely the location and price that sold me. There is a fair amount of city noise with garbage trucks and a bus stop below the building and impatient Boston drivers honking senseless behind them as they do their thing. All in all, I would stay here again under similar circumstances. One more thing, the shower was a pest with alternating hot and cold water that I could never to get figured out.

The property was super communicative, but I would definitely not stay here again. Wallpaper was pealing from the walls, broken lamps, huge window AC unit, broken toilet paper holder, random holes in the walls, stains all over carpets in the entire building, and the elevator was broken for the 4 days we stayed there and had to walk up and down 4 flights of stairs… I guess you get what you pay for because the stay was very affordable compared to other options

A clean and cozy little hotel. It's perfectly situated! We were on the second floor, with 4 bathrooms 2 kitchens and a laundry. Our bedroom had a fridge and a microwave. Very convenient after a long day. The check was very easy, we received a noticed about our bedroom beinf ready 2 hours before normal check in.

The room was ok. The common kitchen was usually dirty and without enough utensils and cutery. Is difficult to get hot water in the shower, sometimes it is ok and some others it is cold

It would be pretty hard to beat the convenience of this location. You can walk to pretty much anywhere in Boston from here. Subways were close, there's plenty of places to eat right near by. The communication from the property management was excellent. Expect this place to be... quirky. It's definitely run down. The elevator was an adventure, though it always ran. The water pressure is lacking. The floor was very squeaky. Our room was very dark. And the bed was not particularly comfortable. But the price was very good, and like I said, it was all about the location.

I really liked this place. Super central location. Easy walk to South Station, Beacon Hill and most other things. I walked back from Seaport. The bldg is a bit dated but that didn’t bother me. The locks to get onto each floor added a level of security. I stayed in the bunk bed room to have a private bathroom and it was fine. Plenty of space (no view from windows, but I didn’t care. Plenty of restaurants within 5 minute walk. Easy check-in and great communication. And priority for me was cost, and it was a great value. Will stay again when I’m back in Boston

The property is great for a budget stay of one or two nights. There are few shared kitchens on each floor. The bathrooms/ showers are also two per several rooms. When I booked, I missed the “shared bathroom “ detail but that was not a problem since the showers were in a pretty clean condition. However, the site needs some maintenance :-( Overall my experience was good, with easy self check-in process. The area around is beautiful with easy access to public transportation. The one downside is that Boston Common park, which is an amazing piece of art, is across the street of the site so many homeless people are around. This makes the experience a little bit sad and uncomfortable.

Ill start with the positives - great location! Within a minute of Boston common, surrounded by shops, cafes, theatres and train stations. There was a full length mirror (if thats important to you). Has good amenities, fridge, iron, cutlery microwave....And overall it was pretty clean! Negatives- there is no front desk, they send you the check in codes via email only after you have sent them photo ID. Problem is, they sent us the request for ID the day of check in when we were on a 7hr flight from Edinburgh so we were stood on the street trying to call the reservations team. The room was quite shabby - fixtures falling off, no handles on cupboards, tv remote not working. The street the hotel is on is incredibly loud, even earplugs dont keep out the noise. There was a fan in our room and they had placed the vent out one of the windows so the window cant close properly and just filled the gap with a piece of thin plastic and duct tape, did not help with trying to keep noise out. Even though it was pretty cheap, i would not stay here again

It’s very central, walkable to most places, with parks and subway close by. No elevator for the six floor makes it difficult for long-distance travelers with large suitcases. But other than that everything is good.

Good location. Responsive owner. Room is musty and the AC unit was very noisy. The bed is old. Bathrooms were very clean. Affordable. With upgrades fo the room it had a lot of potential.

The location was perfect. Right across from the commons. Right in the middle of all the freedom trail stops. The room itself was very clean and the beds were super comfortable. The only thing I did not like was the shared bathrooms. There's some rusty spots, peeling wallpaper and they smelled very humid and musty. The fan in the closest bathroom was not working. You have to share with other people who might not wipe stuff down. So there was hairballs on the floor and loogies in the sink. So yeah...I spent as little time as possible in there. The only thing that makes this doable is that there are a couple bathrooms on the floor. So I suppose you can look for the cleanest one. But overall...if you are gonna spend most of your day out...this was a great location for a great price.

This hotel was a more budget friendly option that I decided to roll the dice on since I had a short stay in the city. The condition of the property was atrocious: shared bathrooms had no paper towels, almost fully rusted shower equipment, all the wall paper was peeling all over and rough condition in every room in the building. My room had trash in it that was never cleaned, my white towels and wash clothes were dirty. They did replace them for us that day, but still very displeased with my stay here and cannot recommend it. The only positive, which doesn't say much about the hotel itself is the location. Easy short waking distance to many great locations.

The moment I walked in the room, I saw an empty suitcase, dirty bed, dirty towels on the floor and a pizza box on the stove (see picture). At no point during my 4 night stay, housekeeping came and offered to clean that mess. I had to go to a nearby store to buy bedsheets… Absolutely terrible hotel (if you call it that) experience.

Location, location, location! This was an amazing place to stay. When we look for accommodations, we look for safe, clean, and a good location. This place had all of these things. We were right across the street from the red/green subway line, Boston Common, and a short walk to Quincy Market, Macy's, and lots of shopping. We took a short subway ride to North Station and a commuter train to Salem for the day. Our room was a good size, had a double bunk bed with a super comfy mattress, and there were two full bathrooms across the hall that we never had to wait for (shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided. Management was great for contact by text. When we travel to a bigger city, we don't spend a lot of time in our room so we're looking for a comfy place to lay our heads and chill out at the end of the day. We appreciated the smart tv where we could login to our Amazon Prime and Netflix before hitting the hay. Would definitely stay again!

Knowing what I was getting into based on the reviews of previous guests, I was not shocked by the state of the hotel. I will say though I did not feel at ease staying there by myself. There was no way for me to bolt the door, and while it automatically locks on the outside when it’s closed, having the additional security would have been reassuring. The private suite was cleaned but not thoroughly (a previous guest’s claw clip was on the floor). Clean towels and sheets were provided. I enjoyed having my own oven, fridge, and microwave to myself, which to me is worth paying slightly more for. There were plenty of cups, bowls, plates, and utensils to use. It would elevate the aesthetic of this hotel if they took the time to make small repairs and clean the walls/touch up paint. The elevator was sketchy but I didn’t mind using it. The TV worked fine too. The hosts were very responsive and kind, and I wouldn’t mind staying again.

This should not be advertised as a hotel to stay in … the carpets smell and are disgusting, the elevator had trash bags that were smelling, one of the shared bathrooms were not working… and I think there are fleas on the bedding. I broke out in a rash and was itching after the second night. Hence I had to find another hotel to stay in for the third night.

It was located conveniently for shops and the park and the rooms and bedding were very clean. The cleaning staff kept on top of the communal bathrooms but the cleanliness would depend on the guests that used it in between the cleaning. The picture you see in the advert is not the rooms i looked at or stayed in. The rooms are a lots more worn with some dark decor and peeling wallpaper with worn carpeting in areas, not polished wood floors as seen in pictures. That said it is clean, fresh clean towels and bedding and relatively cheap compared to hotels in the area.

Great property for the location and price. Definitely showing its age, but very comfortable mattresses, so a great night sleep.

The room worked just fine for what we needed for the night. BUT it was veryyyy hot. It had an AC unit in it that we set to 64 all night and it barely took the heat down. Hallways were a sauna and that’s where the heat was coming from.

Great location downtown; perfect for sightseeing on foot. I felt safe as a solo female traveller. Excellent communication from property management - speedy and helpful when i had a question or repair. Well eqipped kitchen; also iron, hairdryer provided. Extremely comfortable bed - i slept brilliantly. Light sleepers should note there is some noise from the street/buses passing below.

The bed is super comfortable, self check in instructions are clear. Microwave, fridge, hairdryer and coffee maker all work excellently. The only downside is the shower hot water takes forever to start, and the heater is very noisy. It’s also close to the road, so the noises from the construction and roads are very noisy. Love the fact there’s elevator.

I was a solo business traveler for 1 night. The room was clean, easy check in and communication. Location is great. Bed was clean and comfy. It is a smaller room so for 1 person for a night or 2 is good.

Temple Place Suites is a super budget friendly option while traveling in an expensive Boston area. The location was fantastic, very close to multiple different train/bus lines. I never had to call an Uber the entire 3 day weekend I was there. Check in was easy, albeit a few minutes late. I was sent the code in the morning for my room and got there right at check in time. I could get into the building but my room was still being cleaned at 4PM. It was quiet in the hotel the entire trip. Didn’t have to worry about rowdy neighbors or anything. On the negative side - the rooms and accommodations themselves were very bad. The shower had limited water pressure and would go from very hot to cold about every 30 seconds. So it was a song and dance of taking a shower each morning. In the bathroom and my room there were holes in the wall, peeling wallpaper, rusted ceiling tiles. There were no paper towels in the bathroom for my whole visit. The TV was super slow and glitchy to the point I didn’t want any throughout the trip because it would play 5 seconds and then pause for a minute or so. The couch had noticeable stains and brown marks across it. Overall I’d say I got what I paid for. This was the cheapest option in Boston and I went with it. I spent almost no time in the room so it didn’t bother me too much. I’d stay here again. Important that anyone visiting recognizes that this will not be a pretty hotel stay, but you’re saving money that will be spent on lobster rolls instead

I really liked my room, the largeness of the space and the high ceilings. It was comfortable, the AC is rather loud and there are a few things that would’ve been nice to have had. There was just one fork in the kitchen and the TV remote went dead while watching TV. Maybe keep spare batteries on hand? I am not a fan of shared bathrooms, and this more or less confirmed it. But everything seemed to be clean. The (bunk) bed was very comfortable, the sheets nice and clean, as well as the towels. This room would’ve been perfect for more people than one person, though it doesn’t have a private bath. It was very quiet and private throughout my stay.

The place was super nice. Easy to get to and easy access. We had a little incident with a leak coming from above but the owners communicated and accommodated us immediately. We had no issues and the location was awesome. Walking distance to everything. Thank you so much!!!

Booking agents were helpful. We had the fire alarm go off on our second night there - there are no evacuation maps in our room or on the floor our room was on nor the main floor. We evacuated and got directions from the restaurant manager next door as to where to go to. Everyone just congregated right outside the door making if hard for fire dept to get in. Luckily everything was okay. Room was decent bathrooms there were 3 on the 3rd floor for guest use, only found them all in use one time. Booking agents were responsive to text about a bathroom malfunction and the fire emergency. All in all it was a good stay. I appreciate the cost efficiency of the hotel and the communication.

Conveniently located and easy to find. The owners were incredibly accommodating and always fast to respond.

This place is really well situated and very close to public transportation. There were many restaurants nearby. The part I didn't like was that their heating system was really loud. It was like a rocket blasting off every 5 minutes. I couldn't sleep. Also there was a problem with entering the property. My family had to wait 45 minutes outside. When the person finally appeared he was apologetic. I did get $20 compensation for our troubles. However, I think if they had just given the code to enter, we could have been done in few minutes instead of waiting 45 minutes and finally getting into the room a little before midnight. I think they should add hooks or something in the communal bathrooms because there was no space for personal stuff like towel and toiletries. I would consider staying at this place again but not if the same heating system is there.

If you like dorm rooms, this is fine. If you like doors that don’t lock from the inside, this is fine. If you’re ok with the shower turning off randomly 5 times while you’re showering, this is fine. If you’re ok with using What’s App, text, and email (instead of simply one), this is fine. If you are ok with texting management for all communication, this is fine - but when things go wrong, like a major leak in the bathroom upon arrival, and you get moved to a different room only to be moved again the following day, you might hope for better and more dependable and more consolidated communication - and possibly some money thrown back to you for the inconvenience - you may hope for management to reach out to you with updates instead of you having to reach out to them - but that won’t happen. Basically, if you’re in college and want to see a cool part of Boston and don’t expect too much, this place is fine… if you’re grown up and hope for a touch of professionalism, this ain’t it.

Clean rooms, comfortable beds and linens. Great communication with host. Close to everything. Boston common, and public garden,trains, food bars.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Temple Place Suites, and I can honestly say it you get what you pay for. The location is absolutely perfect, situated in the heart of the city, with easy access to vibrant neighborhoods, restaurants, and cultural landmarks. The suite is minimalistic and there’s a sense of homeliness. Spacious, impeccably clean, and tastefully decorated. The staff at Temple Place Suites went above and beyond to make my stay memorable. They were friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about ensuring guests had everything they needed. Whether it was helping with directions or offering local recommendations, their hospitality truly stood out. What makes Temple Place Suites so special is not just the fantastic accommodations, but the sense of warmth and comfort that permeates the space. It feels less like a hotel and more like a welcoming home away from home. If there’s one thing that I don’t like it’s the smell outside the elevator. It smells gas always.

I believe I was supposed to receive an email the day of arrival. I did not. That would have made check in easier. Instead I had to speak to someone I could not understand on the phone as we navigated the check in process. The would like you to text but that must be the same person answering phones so it is extremely delayed. Has we received the email earlier in the day, the response time would not have mattered nearly as much. The first door code didn't work but they were able to change it quickly, again through a muffler phone call. The room was compact and difficult to get around the bed. It was an old dorm and that is the best way to describe it. OLD. Every bathroom was different with peeling wallpaper and crumbling cabinets. Thankfully one of the bathrooms was tucked away so it stayed a little cleaner. Our TV and overhead light did not work. The repair man was sent the next day. He was great and fixed the light even though he was there to fix the TV. The air-conditioning unit was loud but not necessarily a bad thing when it was loud outside. Super convenient to the T and the Commons. If you don't want to pay $500 per night this place is doable. But if they invested some money into up keep it would be so much of a better option.

Near Boston Commons was very nice

Absolutely perfect location for a trip to Boston, just a few steps away from Boston Common, and about a 10 minute walk from Beacon Hill. The nearby Park Street T stop is an ideal downtown location to travel to Copley, Cambridge and South Station. Loved it!
