Fantastic, welcoming staff, everything you could hope for. Good food. Comfortable bed. In spite of being on the main road, quiet. And properly dog-friendly, not just dog-tolerant.

A lovely pub with very comfortable rooms. Due to the age of the building there are a few steps and wonky floors but that wasn't a problem for us and the rooms are beautifully done. The breakfast was amazing and the free on site parking is a big bonus. Good atmosphere in the pub too.

Lovely pub in a great location. Rooms are very comfortable and everything is high quality, including toiletries and teas / coffees. Staff are very friendly and parking is a bonus.

A very comfortable room and bed for our stay. Right in the middle of the town, which has a lot to offer. The food was incredible as was the service from everybody involved. Remember you are over a pub, so until about midnight you have the hub a bub from below. Enjoy the town or go downstairs and join in with locals instead.

Ok, I would check out if the property has live music which we found out to our detriment-we had been out all day touring around the area, had dinner out, returned to the hotel to relax, to discover a very very loud rock band started playing in the property ay around 8pm (which we were not told about). The band finished around 1030pm! Also the en suite had glass doors which were partly shaded across the centre not at all fitting for a couple or the 15 century inn interior, I would not book Jakes room. The saving grace was Jess who served our breakfast a very lovely, smiley and can do anything attitude - deserves a star!

Amazing stay once again - very comfortable rooms with excellent shower and great selection of tea, coffee, biscuits etc. Fantastic location, great pub and the free parking is a big bonus.

The bedroom was a wonderful, quirky room; spotlessly clean with the worlds most comfortable bed and pillows. We had a great couple of nights sleep in this quiet room. Although my preference is a shower the bathroom had a large corner bath which was good. The only slight downside was the rather noisy macerator fitted on the wastewater. The breakfast choice was excellent. The food was freshly made and very tasty. We had an evening meal one night which was also excellent. The presentation and service for all the meals was perfect. The bar had a jolly atmosphere with a fine range of local ales and wines. It was attended by a mixture of local people and visitors. There is a limited range of free on-site parking which I was lucky enough to take advantage of. I would gladly stay here next time I'm in the area and I'd recommend The Woolpack to anyone looking for a good value and comfortable place to stay.

A very good hotel for our overnight stop. An old characterful building and our room was quite noisy from the bar below and some strange water pump noises in the night but it was great value, with good breakfast options and helpful staff.

The room was clean and modern but quirky built into an extremely old building there were beams and uneven doors and door frames lovely charm. We also stayed for dinner which was excellent made to feel most welcome straight from arriving by James (ask for his long vodka). A lovely welcome good food good drink and a comfy bed. Excellent.

The room was clean, properly equipped and given it's above a busy pub and in a very old building, it was warm and reasonably quiet. Nice meal in the restaurant in the evening. Good wine, food and setvice.

Greeted by friendly staff, room was clean with a lovely bathroom and all the amenities, comfy bed. I would avoid the room right over the bar as this was very noisy even after closing time with music and chatting until after midnight. Breakfast was very nice but dinner pretty average.

Unique old hotel . Bathroom very small for a deluxe room , only a double bed which we thought was odd for a deluxe room . Nice toiletries and tea/coffee available. Bedding good quality. Very friendly staff . Noisy location but was a main road so expected . Should have asked for a room at the back . Would stay again , great location for Vinyards !

What a delight to be received with a smile and a warm welcome. The Woolpack is a delightful pub with a buzzing atmosphere. Unfortunately, that’s all the positives. My room was huge with a bathroom in a ‘glass box’. Sadly, the waste is macerated by a klargester system so the unpleasant odour is constant along with the noise every time you use the basin or toilet! Dinner was very disappointing with fish that was barely cooked. I suppose I expected something better especially for the price. I was then charged a charity donation without asking. Perhaps the establishment should include any donation in the menu price. Breakfast was nice although expensive and a poor selection of ‘additions’. I wouldn’t return to the Woolpack: for what it is, it’s expensive, the bad smell in my room and the hideous klargester system. There was no warning of the church bells immediately outside my bedroom window.

We met our friends here & booked 3 separate rooms. Overall the rooms were ok but all 3 bathrooms would benefit from having some grab rails as an extra safety feature. Our bathroom (Jake’s cider) was very compact & wasn’t well designed. The shower over the bath had no riser rail so the shower couldn’t be adjusted, it was easier to have a bath. Another room didn’t have a wardrobe even though there was room to place one.In the 3rd room, our friend didn’t feel safe to use the shower due to no grab rail. Having said that, the staff were generally good & food was of a decent quality. Car parking is available but the car park is also quite compact.

The property was very old and this is what gave it charm and uniqueness. Our room was extremely spacious and situated towards the back of the pub so was very quiet. However as with all old properties there were some niggles - the bathroom/shower was quite small although they had made good use of the space it was difficult to shower properly and maybe it was me but water went everywhere! The toilet was fitted with a macerator and although we were told this at checkin we couldn’t get over how noisy it was and it seemed to have a mind of its own, which made us jump when it decided to go off! I could imagine this would annoy if staying longer ( we had just one night). We ate at the restaurant which was lovely the steak and ale pie was delicious and the cocktails for dessert expresso martinis were very well made! Breakfast in the morning was equally good and a generous portion. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the staff were friendly. My only other gripe is the pub is dog friendly, which having a dog I was naturally pleased with. However upon arrival there was I assume a ‘local’ with a huge Alsatian at the bar and as we walked in it went berserk - luckily the owner was able to hold on but had he not it could have been quite nasty and no one said anything to the owner. I am all for allowing dogs but not if they potentially going to attack other dogs! Plus first impressions count, even other patrons in the pub turned to look!

Stayed for a friends wedding celebration. Breakfasts were really good, quiet at night and slept really well with very comfortable mattress. Didn't mind the wonky floor.. goes with territory of an old building.. only criticism of the room would be the noisy toilet pump! Staff were very helpful and felt sorry for the poor chef who had to work alone for a while due to staff sickness. Kept his cool and very professional! Thanks to the staff and to the manager who saw us right for the long breakfast delay.. would stay again

Our stay at the Woolpack was absolutely fabulous. We were upgraded on arrival - with an extra TV room - even though they didn’t need to, and the beds were so comfy, both of us had a wonderful night’s sleep. Despite the fact we accidentally came down to breakfast 10 mins before it ended, they still accommodated us, and it was a very good breakfast, with lots of options! On the second night, we ate at the restaurant and the food was cooked perfectly, topped off with a complimentary bottle of wine (due to us not being able to eat with them the night before as they were accommodating a party of 50 which hadn’t inconvenienced us at all but they did it anyway!). A fantastic stay at a fantastic venue and we will definitely be back!

On the second night, we ate at the restaurant and the food was cooked perfectly, topped off with a complimentary bottle of wine (due to us not being able to eat with them the night before as they were accommodating a party of 50 which hadn’t inconvenienced us at all but they did it anyway!). A fantastic stay at a fantastic venue and we will definitely be back!

Lovely pub in a great location. Rooms are very comfortable and everything is high quality, including toiletries and teas / coffees. Staff are very friendly and parking is a bonus.

A very comfortable room and bed for our stay. Right in the middle of the town, which has a lot to offer. The food was incredible as was the service from everybody involved. Remember you are over a pub, so until about midnight you have the hub a bub from below. Enjoy the town or go downstairs and join in with locals instead.

Unique old hotel . Bathroom very small for a deluxe room , only a double bed which we thought was odd for a deluxe room . Nice toiletries and tea/coffee available. Bedding good quality. Very friendly staff . Noisy location but was a main road so expected . Should have asked for a room at the back . Would stay again , great location for Vinyards !

The room was clean, properly equipped and given it's above a busy pub and in a very old building, it was warm and reasonably quiet. Nice meal in the restaurant in the evening. Good wine, food and setvice.

Stayed for a friends wedding celebration. Breakfasts were really good, quiet at night and slept really well with very comfortable mattress. Didn't mind the wonky floor.. goes with territory of an old building.. only criticism of the room would be the noisy toilet pump! Staff were very helpful and felt sorry for the poor chef who had to work alone for a while due to staff sickness. Kept his cool and very professional! Thanks to the staff and to the manager who saw us right for the long breakfast delay.. would stay again

What a delight to be received with a smile and a warm welcome. The Woolpack is a delightful pub with a buzzing atmosphere. Unfortunately, that’s all the positives. My room was huge with a bathroom in a ‘glass box’. Sadly, the waste is macerated by a klargester system so the unpleasant odour is constant along with the noise every time you use the basin or toilet! Dinner was very disappointing with fish that was barely cooked. I suppose I expected something better especially for the price. I was then charged a charity donation without asking. Perhaps the establishment should include any donation in the menu price. Breakfast was nice although expensive and a poor selection of ‘additions’. I wouldn’t return to the Woolpack: for what it is, it’s expensive, the bad smell in my room and the hideous klargester system. There was no warning of the church bells immediately outside my bedroom window.

Our stay at the Woolpack was absolutely fabulous. We were upgraded on arrival - with an extra TV room - even though they didn’t need to, and the beds were so comfy, both of us had a wonderful night’s sleep. Despite the fact we accidentally came down to breakfast 10 mins before it ended, they still accommodated us, and it was a very good breakfast, with lots of options! Greeted by friendly staff, room was clean with a lovely bathroom and all the amenities, comfy bed. I would avoid the room right over the bar as this was very noisy even after closing time with music and chatting until after midnight. Breakfast was very nice but dinner pretty average.

The property was very old and this is what gave it charm and uniqueness. Our room was extremely spacious and situated towards the back of the pub so was very quiet. However as with all old properties there were some niggles - the bathroom/shower was quite small although they had made good use of the space it was difficult to shower properly and maybe it was me but water went everywhere! The toilet was fitted with a macerator and although we were told this at checkin we couldn’t get over how noisy it was and it seemed to have a mind of its own, which made us jump when it decided to go off! I could imagine this would annoy if staying longer ( we had just one night). We ate at the restaurant which was lovely the steak and ale pie was delicious and the cocktails for dessert expresso martinis were very well made! Breakfast in the morning was equally good and a generous portion. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the staff were friendly. My only other gripe is the pub is dog friendly, which having a dog I was naturally pleased with. However upon arrival there was I assume a ‘local’ with a huge Alsatian at the bar and as we walked in it went berserk - luckily the owner was able to hold on but had he not it could have been quite nasty and no one said anything to the owner. I am all for allowing dogs but not if they potentially going to attack other dogs! Plus first impressions count, even other patrons in the pub turned to look!

The bedroom was a wonderful, quirky room; spotlessly clean with the worlds most comfortable bed and pillows. We had a great couple of nights sleep in this quiet room. Although my preference is a shower the bathroom had a large corner bath which was good. The only slight downside was the rather noisy macerator fitted on the wastewater. The breakfast choice was excellent. The food was freshly made and very tasty. We had an evening meal one night which was also excellent. The presentation and service for all the meals was perfect. The bar had a jolly atmosphere with a fine range of local ales and wines. It was attended by a mixture of local people and visitors. There is a limited range of free on-site parking which I was lucky enough to take advantage of. I would gladly stay here next time I'm in the area and I'd recommend The Woolpack to anyone looking for a good value and comfortable place to stay.

Lovely stay, the only issue was the sound of the pipework in the bathroom, it was so loud that it was not great if you needed to use the bathroom in the night! The place itself was lovely, we had a quirky room and a nice meal in the restaurant.
