The Town Arms

Unfortunately I didn't get to try the breakfast as it's ONLY available at weekends and mine was a weekday trip, otherwise stay was pleasant.

Upon booking I received a message from the property saying that check in was between 2-10 pm and to get in contact with them if arriving outside those hours. Below was information on the bar. It said bar/kitchen CLOSED on Mondays. When I arrived on Monday at 4:30 pm, the bar was closed but there was noone to check in and receive the keys from. I understand now that if the bar is closed - there is noone AT ALL in the property, even between 2-10. I had to fish through the internet to find a mobile phone nr as the one listed in hotels.com was the bar phone nr and noone was picking up. Eventually, they replied to a message I sent on facebook and someone came to meet me. They did not apologise and were blaming me as I "never got in touch with them to let them know what time I was coming" (though I answered that question on the website when booking - it asks you approx. time of arrival). I got to my room and the bed wasn't even made. I had to put the duvet inside the cover. I expect that from youth hostels, but not B&Bs!! Anyways, besides that annoying check in experience and making my bed after long hours of travelling, I can say the room was ok and the place is well located, but it is definitely too expensive for what it actually is. Plus, I never saw anyone that managed the property. The morning of check-out, I left the key at the door and closed behind me.

No breakfast served during the week. Still waiting for my VAT receipt, which staff were unable to access without the Manager. Have emailed twice but no reply.

The room was fine and all the staff we met were very helpful.
