Great place in Regua in the Douro Valley. The location in the middle of town is excellent, with several great options for good restaurants. Parking was easy - and free overnight on the street, but beware that parking is metered after 9am. The room was very quiet, nicely renovated; the bathroom was very nice and functional. The breakfast was superb! And everyone was oh-so-friendly! Loved this place!

Un mix d’ancien et de moderne subtil. Hôtel donnant à l’avant sur une rue pavée et à l’arrière sur une voie ferrée : pas gênant durant notre séjour. Nice hotel, friendly staff, good location in the center of town, spacious room, healthy breakfast. Be aware that parking is on the street and you have to feed the meter, although overnight is free. A train track runs directly behind the hotel but the trains are actually very quiet and stop after about 11 pm. They never bothered us.

Sentimos dificuldade para descarregar o carro visto q se nao tiver lugar na rua, nao tem como parar pra descarregar. Felizmente conseguimos estacionar em frente. O hotel e bem agradavel, cafe da manha tb. Recepcionista atenciosa. Enfim, gostamos da estadia.

This charming hotel punches way above its two-star rating, Lovely helpful and friendly staff, amazing breakfast, comfortable, scrupulously clean and thoughtfully-designed rooms offset the fact that the hotel backs onto the railway -- which is the only reason I can think of that the hotel hasn't earned another star. But in truth, there aren't that many trains (evenings are tranquil). An walk from the train station, the hotel is close to a number of good restaurants.

This property had a great location, and a tasty breakfast. Unfortunately the beds were very uncomfortable and the walls are paper thin, so it's possible to hear complete conversations in the halls and the train passing behind the property on a very regular basis.

Our room was small but very functional. The historic features and careful restoration are beautiful and create such a unique experience. The only drawback was the noise level from guests who took phone calls in the common areas and small children and/or infants crying in rooms.

Lovely hotel and excellent breakfast with fresh local, seasonal produce. The only downside is the proximity to the rail line. Our room had a balcony which looked down onto the line directly. This would be great for those interested in watching trains, just not so good at 5:30am and 11pm (first and last trains) when you're trying to sleep. Staff also excellent - so helpful when we were organising onward travel.

The staff was friendly and allowed us to drop our luggage off early and helped us set up our tour’s & reservations in the Douro. Location is so easy from the train. The hotel is beautiful, clean, quiet and comfortable with food on-site if you get in late. The complimentary breakfast was excellent! Thanks so much!

Excellent hotel. It was remodeled in 2018 and is super nice, modern while still maintaining some of the original structure and and charm in the interior design. Short walk to the river boat cruises or the train station, and a short drive to the quintas across the river. I recommend this hotel when staying in Peso de Regua

We truly appreciated the magic of the amazing restoration job of this historic hotel! Such friendly and welcoming staff and quiet location but walkable to everywhere. If you are celiac, give them notice and they will prepare a GF breakfast option. We absolutely LOVED our stay! *Only thing to note about the hotel that could be an issue for some is the train the runs late into the night and early in the morning right out the back - but the soundproofing is so well done / the old walls so thick we only heard a deep vibration/rumbling in our room that we generally slept through (though I wear earplugs) - may be a different story if your room faces the train tracks so be sure to request a street facing room if you are an light sleeper. Thanks again Original Douro!!

The hotel is in a central location in Regua. For such a. Highly rated hotel we were surprised by some Shortcomings. Staff couldn’t help us find a few coins for parking. No umbrellas available to lend on those pouring days. And the breakfast had no hot items. We were a tad disappointed overall.
