Hotel Indigo Chicago - Vernon Hills by IHG

The key card system was awful. Our first set of cards did not work on our room door so we have to go back to front desk. Then none of the sets they gave us worked at back door which is locked. The front parking lot is small so needed to park in back. Two females coming in late, so not appreciated. They did have a doorbell. The room was spacious and great. Just a heads up no blow dryer in room.

Pool area was gross.. it smelled like dead fish in there. Water was cloudy. No towels and door to get in pool area was all rusty. Couldn’t open it easily. There was no bedding for the pull out couch which was dirty and old. Furniture in room had stains on it. I was with my grandchildren so I didn’t make a stink , but I will never stay there again.

I liked how close it was for dining and shopping. I was disappointed that there was no complimentary coffee available. I could purchase it for $5 at the restaurant which seemed outrageous. The ice machines were out of order but there was a communal styrofoam ice chest with ice and a scooper. Also Friday night, the bar was closed.

Rooms very comfortable and large. Water warm, not hot. Lots of equipment in fitness center not working.

I really loved this hotel! It was very clean and the staff was wonderful! The bartender at the bar in the lobby was so pleasant. I would definitely book again!

All the ice machines were broke down. We also had no hot water for showers. The door to the pool was broken and we could not open it unless someone opened the door for us. I would not stay here again. With that said, the staff was nice.

We booked this hotel because when booking it stated, had breakfast and a pool and connecting rooms. When we get there, we’re told our style rooms cannot be connected, but they’re right next to each other. But they weren’t. They were across the hall on the same floor and that’s fine but update your website and communicate better with customers. The first morning we try to go get breakfast and we’re told we have to pay for breakfast! $14 for a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich is ridiculous. When I explained to the gentleman that we picked this hotel because it included breakfast, he told me to show him where it says that. Then proceeded with an attitude stating that because our rooms were discounted through Expedia, we don’t get breakfast. We went to check out the pool because we planned on having a bum pool day. And when we got there, there was a notice that it was closed by the health department due to bacteria. You would think because of that inconvenience they would’ve at least offered us free breakfast, but they didn’t. We also had to keep getting our cards re-registered to our rooms twice a day. Honestly, we only slept there because of all the nonsense. We will never be staying there again and do not recommend it for anybody to stay there.

The hotel had a great staff, but unfortunately the pool had been closed for health inspections and will be until 2026. The shops and dining around the property were excellent. They also were having tons of issues with rooms and elevator malfunctions.

The experience was ok but overall sucked the first room I got was not good the was used condoms in the trash and the bed looked like someone just got done using it and put it back together real fast told the front desk they put us in another room they said it was an upgraded room lol. This room was the same room type but the AC didn't work and the room was humid and damp then they moved us to another room and this room was ok I guess but overall not pleased I would of liked some type of compensation cause it was 180 bucks that I did not enjoy throwing away lol but whatever.

My room had balloons under the bed from a previous guest. A dust buildup on a lamp on big dresser.

I would definitely NOT recommend, we booked mainly because the pool looked so nice in pictures. Once the kids and I jumped in we could smell and taste something was off, extremely unsanitary! Had diarrhea the next day. The bathroom was full of mold in the walls and floor. The bed sheets had mold. How could they put dirty moldy blankets that’s just not right! Asked for a refund the immediately that day but they said SORRY no refunds so we were forced to stay the night.

The pool was disgusting. Very green & smelled horrible. The pull out couch was filthy and had a dirty sock, no sheets & food wrappers. Very limited towels & not clean. Would never waste my money here again.

This place is an absolute dump. Neither the photos nor the price point are indicators of the run down, barely maintained, outdated, dirty, and non-functional fixtures that are problematic for anyone who isn’t used to $60/night motels. Odds are you’ll need to park in the back of the hotel where the key reader is broken and the front desk staff just disappears late in the evening and won’t respond to the doorbell. Stepping out of the elevator, the smell of midlew permeates the hallways… and the indoor pool area that’s very distinctly missing any hint of chlorine despite being in a hot unventilated room. That’s some murky looking water. The floors were covered in loose crumbs and other people’s hair… no one bothers to vacuum or sweep the floors. Best of all is the shower…a single setting (water saving) handheld nozzle (literally since the mounted holder was broken) and absolutely no temperature control option. The faucet is either off or as hot as possible. Took 30 minutes to get hot water. Which was scalding hot. The AC kept powering off at random and the room was unbearable. Luckily ice was available in the igloo cooler they put in the lobby.. instead of working ice machines. I paid $200 a night for 2 nights and stayed for 6 hours of one of them. Place is awful.

Pros: clean, good service, good price, safe area Cons: Walls are super thin. There’s no quiet hours that guests respect. Don’t let them give you a room near the elevator, it’s super loud!

We had a wonderful stay. The only problem was- the wifi connectivity in the rooms. We had to always go in the lobby to connect the wifi. Travellers not from USA rely on wifi so I would request the team to install a better wifi.

A good place to stay for 2 days for a wedding. It is noisy due to my room is next to the elevators. People were loud going in and out of the elevators.

Hotel is bit old and AC is very noisy

We stayed at the Indigo because we were visiting friends who lived in the area. it is clearly a suburban hotel catering to the business visitors for the corporate campuses in the area. The hotel is clean and attractive, and I made good use of the "fitness studio" which had a good assortment of equipment. The food offerings are limited, but given the selection of restaurants in the area, that was not even a minor annoyance. I do have two substantial comments on the hotel: 1) The layout of the rooms are awkward. There is plenty of space to put the furniture, and the bathroom, but the way things are laid out does not allow something as simple as putting up the suitcase stand in a convenient place that does not block something else. Also, the shower/toilet room is so small that you have to move behind the door to close it...neither is a big deal, but it was just strange. 2) It might have been a "one time" thing, but the security on the site was a bit lackadaisical on the morning of Feb 10th. While I was waiting in the lobby I was approached by a man who appeared disoriented and smelled heavily of cigarette smoke. It is unusual to see homeless people in that part of Lake County, but not unheard of, so I assumed that was his situation. After a brief conversation it became apparent he was looking for a "hook up", and quickly went to the elevators after I made it clear I was not a candidate. When I returned to the hotel about 4 hours later, he was still in the lobby.

The water pressure is terrible. The temp of the water in our room was scalding hot. Could not even adjust enough cold water to get the water not to burn your skin. Hotel staff knocked on our door to clean our room at 7:45am, we were still in bed sleeping. Didn't need the unnecessary wake up.

Room was very spacious!

Nice hotel with a great design. Great room and nice set up and furnishings. The insulation isn’t very good so you do get noise from the hallways and other rooms. They gave me a room by the elevator which added to the noise but wasn’t too bad at night. The area felt safe and upper class with good shopping nearby. No breakfast offered but the have a bar/cafe area to get food and drinks

A great experience all around! Huge room and great beds. Super quiet. Lovely walking area in area. Staff very helpful and friendly.

The Front desk staff was absolutely amazing. Very professional, helpful and kind! Tom was wonderful. The room haf a few hiccups the refrigerator was not working and the thermostat see.ed off. Tom was great and offered quick resolutions to ensure my comfort.

The staff we interacted with were all so kind and attentive, but it didn’t seem like there were enough of them. Felt short staffed. Long lines at restaurants and bar. No one answered phones. Rooms were clean and comfortable but when we pulled out the sofa bed, it had not been cleaned or vacuumed. Pool area was dingy. My other Hotel Indigo experiences have been better. Nicer properties.

Excellent value for the price! We were pleasantly surprised, hotel was much more upscale than expected. Everything was stylish, clean, and updated. Our room was spacious and well appointed. Beds were very comfortable! Tom who checked us in was very welcoming and helpful!

Tyler and Nick are absolutely amazing employees of Indigo IHG. I travel monday through Friday and an in hotels every night, I go out of my way to stay at the Indigo because of the staff, cleanliness, and quite stay.

No issues. Was comfortable stay. Sadie was the best checking me in and great energy.

Quite clean. This is my 3rd stay (proximity to elderly family), I have had visits where the smell of smoke lingered (whether recent or not, hard to tell, even though all the rooms are non-smoking, there did not appear to be anywhere for smoking guests to go, so I imagine not everyone obeys the rule). I did have an issue with a clogged sink one time, and a malfunctioning ac unit in another. That being said, any time I brought an issue to the attention of the front desk, the issue was pleasantly and quickly addressed. Love the staff, and will most likely stay there again

It was a nice hotel room with all the comforts of home, coffee, teas, iron and board, hair dryer TV, and mini fridge. The water was hit or miss. It was either scalding hot, or freezing cold. Taking a shower took forever, because the temperature was hard to gauge. The air conditioner was very loud, but worked. The pool was out of commission. I’m not sure why. My friend got stuck in the elevator, because the maintenance man was working on it, but didn’t have a sign in front of it telling customers not to use it. When she confronted the staff, they offered no apology, and they said they laughed when they heard her screaming. The location is excellent . There are stores, restaurants and a mall nearby.

Property was very clean and close to many restaurants. Very convenient. Staff was very courteous as well. Would stay again.

It was a good choice for navy boot camp graduation. 20 minutes from base.

Nice area, many stores and restaurants in walking distance. Has a Bar/restaurant in hotel lobby, but didn't try it out so can't rate that. Very nice staff. About 20 m8ns from Naval base and Naval graduation.

The location was great, walking distance to a lot of shopping centers and restaurants. The setting was also very nice, great customer care...

Real convenient close to lot of stores

I liked the Vernon Hills area a whole lot. The hotel itself was clean conveniently located near shops and restaurants. It was also close to the RTC Navy base for graduation. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Check in was easy and when we could not make it they still accommodated us. The free breakfast and friendly staff. It was just overly amazing.

The beds were a bit tough to sleep on. The breakfast is cash only. It was never labeled that way. And the availability of food was slow
