Great staff. Breakfast was delicious with a great variety of food. The room: I was upgraded to an apartment, and it was perfect. This hotel is right at the Mandela Plaza and has an internal passage to the mall. Simply perfect. I highly. recommend this hotel.

Een prachtig hotel met zeer vriendelijk personeel. Alles was er een anders werd je vriendelijk geholpen. Enig minpunt was dat het zwembad bij de eetgelegenheden was. Dat nodigt niet echt uit om te gaan zwemmen. Verder was ook de omgeving prima: The Mall en Nelson Mandela Square.

Left the room at 10 am for meetings on first day and was shocked on return at 10 pm to find the room still not cleaned. The in-room coffee machine was also faulty. Not a great first stay but will give benefit of the doubt for a second visit.

The hotel didnt seem secure as Sandton Mall foot traffic was in/out of the front doors/lobby. At check-in, I wasn’t offered a room upgrade. Arriving to my room, I found significant amounts of mold on the walls of the shower. I made the staff aware and was told that I must speak with the morning staff. The next day, I met with Benedict, he was smug and replied with “Ok, do you want us to clean it?” I advised that the room/shower needs to be cleaned, I don’t want to stay in a room with visible mold in the shower. Benedict immediately seemed irritated that I was requesting an alternate solution. He offered another room whose bathroom was in the middle of the floor. Having no hotel staff assistance to review the rooms with me, I came back to advise that I didn’t want the room. Benedict stated “I can offer a room w/ a balcony” this new room was smaller than the corner exec. room that I booked. However, I no longer wanted to engage w/ Benedict’s unprofessional attitude, lack of empathy, and dismissive behavior. I was forced to repack all of my belongings, move them from the 7th floor to the 6th floor. The bed in the room was terribly uncomfortable as it was a relatively thin spring mattress. The sheets, duvet & pillow case all had stains, so I requested that the linens be changed. During my stay, I could smell heavy cigarette smoke coming through the vents in my room. Thank you to Solley, Bellman & Sticks, Waiter, they were kind, always willing to help & tried to make things better

Wir hatten ein schönes Executive-Zimmer (Round) mit einem Panoramablick. Das Check in verlief professionell und freundlich, so dürften unser Zimmer bereits um 11:00 Uhr beziehen (vor 14:00!). Obwohl ich das Hotel vorher kontaktiert habe und sie gebeten das Zimmer vorher zur Verfügung zu stellen, da wir bereits früh gelandet sind. Das Frühstück war umfangreich und alles war frisch. Auch die Lage war sehr gut.

Wir hatten ein schönes Executive-Zimmer (Round) mit einem Panoramablick. Das Check in verlief professionell und freundlich, so dürften unser Zimmer bereits um 11:00 Uhr beziehen (vor 14:00!). Obwohl ich das Hotel vorher kontaktiert habe und sie gebeten das Zimmer vorher zur Verfügung zu stellen, da wir bereits früh gelandet sind. Das Frühstück war umfangreich und alles war frisch. Great location and above average hotel. But disappointed by 2 things: 1- at check-in, I specifically took time to mention that I booked through Expedia and asked if there were any upgrades available. The clerk didn’t seem eager to engage and was quick to say there weren’t any executive suites available. I had take the time to check online to see if they had any suites available and saw junior suites available. Checked the following day and still saw suites available. So I’m disappointed that I picked this hotel because I’m a gold Expedia member and didn’t get any benefits from my membership. 2- at check in, I asked for an extra bed for my 8 year old daughter. This was around 5:30 pm. We left our room to eat around 7 pm and came back at 10 pm and still no bed in our room. Called the front seat and was told they would follow-up and get the bed to the room. Called 20 minutes later and told they will look into it and get back to me asap. At 11 pm, I had to take my pj’s off and get dressed to physically go to the front desk to confront them. I was the. Told they only had one person working in maintenance in the evening and that person was busy with another task and he would come bring me a bed as soon as possible. Around 11:15 pm, bes was finally brought. The next day, told someone at the customer service desk my ordeal after being told there was no one from mgmt to talk to. The lady apologized profusely and got me a bottle of wine and a plate desserts for my room. Nice gesture.

Called 20 minutes later and told they will look into it and get back to me asap. At 11 pm, I had to take my pj’s off and get dressed to physically go to the front desk to confront them. I was the. Told they only had one person working in maintenance in the evening and that person was busy with another task and he would come bring me a bed as soon as possible. Around 11:15 pm, bes was finally brought. The next day, told someone at the customer service desk my ordeal after being told there was no one from mgmt to talk to. The lady apologized profusely and got me a bottle of wine and a plate desserts for my room. Nice gesture.

Great location, prompt services, and most importantly excellent service. After flying over 30hrs + to get to Sandton, the lady at front was very understanding and got me into a room asap (hours before check in time) so I get crash for a few hours before biz meeting. If I could give her 6 stars (out of 5) I would. Breakfast is also equally as awesome. Shout out to the gentleman behind bar preparing fresh juice. His ginger/ carrot juice shots are fantastic to get you going every morning!

When entering the property, you do not feel welcomed. We had to struggle with a porter service to help us with our bags from the car. Then when we reception was very serious, the place is expensive and supposed to be “higher class” but I didn’t know friendliness stopped at a certain star. I wouldn’t rate this as a 5 star hotel. We also didn’t have turn down service at our room, when we had left our room at 6:30pm at arrived late at 11:30pm. Next morning we checked easily requested a porter which was very friendly but overall, it felt cold, snobbish and out right unwelcoming. Not really worth the money, or stars in my opinion.

Came from United States to South Africa for the first time. I wanted to celbrate my 4pth birthday. However, the hotel did not provide the room that i paid for. They kept blaming it on the booking agency. The did not accomdate. They wanted to provided a lower level room not equal to what i paid for. I cried on my birthday. I was in another country and very upset.

This property is located in a great place for a short stay in Johannesburg. It is basically next to a huge mall where you can spend the day shopping and dining. It is next to the Nelson Mandela square (there is an exit door from the hotel) where you can admire art or take a picture with a tall statue of Nelson Mandela. We only stayed two nights in Johannesburg and then continued our trip. For this purpose the hotel was perfect. In the morning there is a free shuttle to the "Hop on Hop off" tourist bus, which is a great way to get an overview of Johannesburg. We never even got off the bus. Da Vinci hotel is an upscale hotel, clean with great service. I would stay here again if I ever came back to Johannesburg.

Great staff. Breakfast was delicious with a great variety of food. The room: I was upgraded to an apartment, and it was perfect. This hotel is right at the Mandela Plaza and has an internal passage to the mall. Simply perfect. I highly. recommend this hotel.

The hotel was clean, the staff was wonderful, and the location was perfect. A couple of people in the group forgot things and they were able to find items at the mall which is attached to the hotel. The location is very safe and there are many restaurant options close by. I would highly recommend this location to anyone traveling to Johannesburg.
