Our stay at Ivy Bush was very comfortable and relaxing. The location and parking was excellent and all the staff were friendly. There was a good choice at breakfast but food could do with being a little warmer. There's plenty of room in the lounge areas and outdoor patio was good for when the sun came out! Loved the stained glass windows! We will definitely use the Ivy Bush again whenever we visit Carmarthen.

Great location in the centre of town with loads of parking. Stayed in the older part of the hotel, bed is really comfortable, white crisp linen and towels, bathroom is clean with good shower, great breakfast with a nice bar that has proper Welsh ale, staff are friendly and helpful; carpets need a bit of tender loving care. Would stay again and recommend to others.

Easy to find and park, welcome at reception, located very close to shops, restaurants, bars etc. Had a good night's sleep and breakfast was tasty. Main areas of hotel well appointed, clean and modern. Room was a little dated and tired looking. Outside on street hotel looked scruffy.

Very convenient location in town with on site parking. Room was clean and a decent size. The only issue was noise from the road just outside the window and a party in the function room, but overall not too bad. Breakfast was good.

A lovely hotel, great room and comfortable bed. Decor a bit dated but all clean. Wonderful lounge and bar area. Friendly happy staff. There were some issues with the lift but as were on the first floor we could manage the stairs. A very relaxing break. Thank you.

So dirty and run down; stains on carpet. Filthy scum around the window, which I we couldn’t leave open as the hinges were broken. Shower curtain too long so you stood on it in the shower. Walls are so thin you can hear everyone talking in there rooms.

Reception staff were lovely and friendly. Room was not clean and had items left from previous guest under bed. Dust throughout. I cleaned ledges before sleepingg go. Holes in duvet cover. Sheets did not fit the beds leaving the mattress (without mattress protector) visible. Basin tap very loose. Toilet needed good clean It is tired but that would be fine if only it was properly clean. Non English/Welsh member of staff (lady) at breakfast was very grumpy. Felt like we were putting her out by asking for a knife and milk with our coffee. Such a shame. Location great and car parking easy.

There were no towels or hand towels upon arrival, there was a dirty bathmat in the bathroom. Everything smelt damp and musty, as you could tell with mould around the bottom of the shower. There was glue oozing out between the floorboards in the bathroom which was still wet.

The only thing that I didn't like was the noise from the boiler. Going on and off all night long. Having said that I was offered a different room. I decided to stay where I was. My room was right above the boiler.

It was a convenient place for commuting. We found the staff very rude. We booked 2 rooms, which we thought would be the same size; however, one of them was good but other one was very tiny. Rooms were really hot, couldn’t keep the windows open because it was too noisy. No hand wash, also the temperature dial on the shower was unresponsive, and the shower was extremely hot. It was one of the worst hotels I have booked through Expedia.

Good food, great staff, well placed in the centre of town, plenty of free hotel parking. One gripe: Room 120 is plagued day and night by the sound of machinery - possibly the hotel's laundry room? So when booking again, I'll ask for a different room!

Room 122. We initially had problems with excessive, constant, noise from what I surmise might have been a water pump at our end of the landing. It was plainly audible from half way back along the landing, never mind inside our room which, with room 120, was closest to the source. The noise was reported and the receptionist who came to inspect said she had never encountered the noise before. She said she would report the matter up the line. Deciding not to cause trouble, we suffered a night without much sleep and spoke to another receptionist the following day, asking to be moved to another room. This was agreed and we thankfully said goodbye to room 122. The noise was still ongoing when we checked out two days later. I was disappointed the staff were not more proactive about moving us once the matter had been reported, but at least this was rectified by my pushing the matter. Other than that and a quirky bathroom in need of some attention (and a failure of the wifi on 122's landing), the hotel was a pleasure to stay at. Staff were friendly and, despite the above, helpful, the food was excellent and the car park was large enough if you timed it right

I've stayed here before and don't remember having a room (217) as poor as this one. Whilst the bed and pillows and desk area was fine, the carpet was almost worn out and the water pressure in the shower was pretty much a dribble. Turn the shower head upside down and the water all but stopped. However, the barman was good, waitresses good, evening meal was very nice as was breakfast.

Basic budget hotel / B&B Slow service checking in whilst someone fixed a stapler (really?!) Room was very cold but there was an electric heater which I had to leave on all night, no heating in the bathroom. Quite tired looking - peeling vinyl on headboard, tears in curtains, mould on bath silicone etc.

Politely received and then left to our own devices. Room pleasant and spacious. Evening meal was ok but served nearly 45 minutes after ordering. Not good and no apology or explanation. Probably an aberration.

Unfriendly and unhelpful at reception. Corridors are so smelly. Then we went to our room and it hasn’t been cleaned! I asked for an upgrade or refund. Upgraded room was lovely but not even an apology or a suggestion of an upgrade or how to resolve. Would not recommend.

Receptionist rude and barely looked up as she demanded credit card details for the prepaid room. Hotel is very tired and rooms smell musty and need a complete refurbishment from the 70s/80s decor. Stayed in December to be told heating in the room only comes on between 7 and 8 in the evening, after several phone calls to reception an electric heater was eventually supplied. No mattress protector on the bed, cover threadbare. Won't be staying again. Anyone giving this establishment 10/10 must have stayed in some real hovels and have no standards

Great location in the centre of town with loads of parking. Stayed in the older part of the hotel, bed is really comfortable, white crisp linen and towels, bathroom is clean with good shower, great breakfast with a nice bar that has proper Welsh ale, staff are friendly and helpful; carpets need a bit of tender loving care. Would stay again and recommend to others.

Easy to find and park, welcome at reception, located very close to shops, restaurants, bars etc. Had a good night's sleep and breakfast was tasty. Main areas of hotel well appointed, clean and modern. Room was a little dated and tired looking. Outside on street hotel looked scruffy.

Very convenient location in town with on site parking. Room was clean and a decent size. The only issue was noise from the road just outside the window and a party in the function room, but overall not too bad. Breakfast was good.

Our lower floor room had two windows which looked out on to an enclosed area used for storage. No hot water in the evening. Shower was very good in morning and bed comfortable. Bar prices were reasonable. Self serve breakfast was very poor. Food was just warm and did not look appetising. Croissants were small and not replenished when we were at breakfast. A coach tour took priority, I suspect. Stayed here a number of times previously in past years whilst working, but would hesitate to stay again.

Had a 3 night midweek stay in July, staying in a twin room on the 2nd floor (accessible by lift or stairs). Free parking on site (remember to register your car). The hotel is conveniently located for the town centre (2 minutes walk) Friendly reception and service staff. The room was a good size, beds comfortable and with tea/coffee service replenished daily. Decor was a bit tired and the bathroom, although perfectly functional, could do with a lick of paint and some regrouting. WiFi in the room was excellent, although the TV reception was a bit iffy. Comfortable stay, very central to town. Would like to thank Lucy for our efficient check-in, as room wasn't ready she had my phone number and informed me when my room was ready as we wanted to explore the town. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we had a beautiful hot breakfast in the morning.

103 room smelling musty. Gave us a new room where no water pressure, can’t open the window because radiator was in the middle. We asked for a quiet room and we were opposite to the main road and of course no double glass. Breakfast - dirty bowls and glasse.

Property is located in very good location but the wifi wasn’t good it kept dropping and also in bathroom there was no rugs available after shower I had to be careful not to slip otherwise it was a good stay

Was disappointed when I realised on checking in that they had no Airconditiong. It was a hot July with temp reaching 30plus. On asking I was provided with a table fan that just managed to help but couldn’t sleep at night . Next time will definitely check if the hotel has Air conditioning before booking. Also had to pay for parking which was additional cost and not really good since already paid for the room . No one came to clean the room I spite if asking several times and was told they were very busy and just came to change the towels. The staff was helpful and the breakfast was good.
