Overall a nice stay with helpful staff. A few improvements needed 1) temperature control in room 2) a bottle of water in room 3) don’t allow fitness class to dominate whole pool, preventing guests use of it

Has a feeling of space especially with golf course. A country hotel. Good facilities- swimming pool , Turkish bath, sauna (at minute jacuzzi not working). WiFi good and TV with freeview channels. Nice bathroom with tub. Did not eat at hotel - walked to an Indian restaurant at the edge of the driveway to the hotel. There is now a coffee shop next to the Indian as well.

Big room, good value, great shower, free use of health club (sauna, steam room and pool). Let down by terrible wifi and no phone signal. Shame as this is a great venue (a bit tired but good value).

The food in restaurant was excellent we had 3 course and it was all delicious. The steam was out of order on Friday which did spoil that spa experience for us but luckily it was working the following day

Generally good hotel but the lock on our room did not work and we had to have a member of staff use the master key to let us in to our room on every occasion, we were not the only customers with this issue so there is obviously a maintenance problem. Otherwise the facilities were good, the health club was great.

Whole place needs a little spruce up.Lots of rough finishing and unfinished areas in the gym making it look scruffy. Equipment in gym is great though. Matress in room 108 has seen better days. Shower head was full of limescale.

Two single beds pushed together to form a double isn't ideal. The room smelled of urine and the bathroom had an unpleasant odour. The shower was either off or scalding hot and no amount of fiddling with the dial or waiting seemed to help. We had to have baths in the smelly bathroom in the end just to get ready to leave. Not great.

Despite requesting a quiet room, we were placed facing the carpark — and it wasn’t even busy, so accommodating us should’ve been possible. The check-in staff claimed all rooms had great views, which was clearly not the case. Bar service was equally poor. Staff lacked basic customer service skills — no greeting, no smile, and dismissive responses when asked about whisky options or the menu. The room itself was mediocre: broken furniture, a missing drawer, and dirty curtains. The only redeeming features were the pool and steam room. Breakfast was chaotic — a single broken two-slice toaster for the entire restaurant, with staff showing little concern as guests queued in confusion. Overall, the service was appalling and far below acceptable standards.

Door lock didn’t work, eventually got into room after receptionists third attempt. TV not working so moved to another room. Mattress stained behind belief, absolutely filthy. Dried toothpaste spit all over counter top in bathroom. Beds and pillows extremely bad quality. Never again

The grounds were lovely. The rooms were a little tired, with chipped paint off the walls and cupboards. The carpets looked worn. The staff were unhelpful and on occasion rude. The buffet breakfast was okay, but the hot food options were never available at the same time.

Parking was very easy, simple check in and quick, facilities are all good for a short stay so ideal for me. One small first world problem though.....the room was big and the TV was very small so it wasnt ideal to sit in bed watching from such a distance.

On the hottest day of the year to have no air conditioning and only a small fan makes for the price of the room seemingly overpriced. The gym, steam and sauna area had only one shower toilet and sink in a lockable room, so if occupied there's no other option but to walk back to your room. The food and location was lovely and the staff were friendly but a shame the facilities don't quite match that.

Breakfast and Dinner was really good and parking was great. However i was very disappointed as the shower did not work as there was very little (a small drip) room 22 and i was then moved to a new room ( room 11)straight away. However, when I went to have a shower in the morning in the new room the shower temperature was either too hot or too cold and i could not have a decent shower for my meeting..

Was advertised as having a lift, but it didnt work. And had to go up very steep stairs to our room. Im disabled. And wasnt offered assistance with luggage. Also, x4 disabled bays x3 of which taken by cars without a disabled badge! Illegal!...raised it with reception & no one did anything about it. When we got to our room, we only had one large towel & yried calling reception on the room phone, but it didnt work!...my partner went down to request one, but we didnt get it for at least a couple of hours, so had to share one after our showers before going out for dinner. They also had very loud music playing right outside our room, though when i told them, they did turn it off.

Terrible customer service. Toilet stank of urine. Woken up by staff cleaning adjacent room at midnight.. they said there had been a leak, but i dont want to hear about their social life and hear them laughing and joking and hoovering with door open.

Nice location, grounds, spa/pool facilities, restaurant. A number of issues let it down. Postcode given in sat nav leads along very narrow country lanes to rear of hotel with no easy way back round to the front. Electricity in room didn't work. Suspect faulty circuit breaker but staff wouldn't confirm. After repair, key card didn't work. Back to reception again for replacement. Rain leaking into foyer and into lift shaft. Noisy room from compressor (bar cooler?). Noise from music testing in events space at 7am! No safe box in room.

Very good value for money. Interesting building. Pool looked good. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was great. Difficult to find on GPS in the dark. A bit worn, probably due an update, but this is reflected in the price.

Country hotel with golf course and good leisure facilities. Has a feeling of space because of the golf course. Large free car park. Rooms are fairly large and comfortable. Good WiFi and Freeview channels on the TV. Kettle, tea and coffee. Easy to do walks from the hotel. There is a traditional Indian restaurant near to the entrance driveway of the hotel which is easy to walk to.

When you go to drive into the hotel they need to have extra lightening to drive through the grounds and sign post at the entrance to guide you to reception as it is very dark. It's alright during the day. Breakfast could do with being hotter as it was Luke warm. Rooms needed to have tissues.

Had a lovely stay at this hotel, rooms were comfy. Leisure centre is nice to relax, but if you want extra make sure you book well in advance, (we missed out). Restaurant could do with updating there menu, very little choice, we had to get a delivery one night, online bar menu says different to the one in the actual hotel, very little choice on that as well.

Firstly this is a beautiful venue and could be a fantastic hotel BUT... Reception, bar, 'restaurant' was more reminiscent of Holiday Inn Express. But even HIE have fully trained staff. Trays of used plates and glasses left out on tables all evening, food arrived but no cutlery, condiments etc. Reception staff couldn't help young lad trying to run the bar who admitted he had no training. Breakfast was mainly cold. Noise from kitchens and restaurant disturbed us all around the building but especially in bathroom of room 302!

An lovely looking old hotel with modern additions. Creaking stairs lead to a lovely large room. Even though it was frosty outside the radiators were set to max. The room and especially the bathroom were stiflingly hot, opening the windows just made the sound of the planes landing at Stanstead even louder. Breakfast was the usual luke warm pans of beans, eggs and meat, options for vegetarians and dietary requirements limited.

Comfy bed an room ok. But the food was decidedly average, food at breakfast from the buffet bar was lukewarm at best. On arriving in room there was loud dance music coming from the very close health club ( i could make out the words), when i spoke to reception io was told it would be overy by about 8pm - not to much of an issue as i wanted to eat. Next morning at 7am though was an issue, woke up
