We ended up in the basement so we had to deal with stairs to get ice breakfast the hot tub the room was very very cramped it wouldn’t have been bad for a night but we stayed 2 so a bit claustrophobic hot tub and sauna were a highlight although we had to go upstairs through the lobby then back downstairs to get there. Definitely dated and could use a little updating maybe Parking was easy and location was good

Very close to the mountain with a convenient shuttle service that runs every 5 - 10 mins. Breakfast included with rate Staff are polite and try to be helpful. Surprisingly the lodge does not have a laundry room which would have been convenient to dry out ski clothes.

A great basic hotel close enough to Stratton base. Short walk or take the shuttle. Walk is up hill so harder for skiers. Clean and had decent breakfast included. Arrived on a Friday evening, so parking was a challenge. They don’t seem to have enough spots when they are full.

Dated property, room has musty smell, 32 inch TV, radiator made metal cracking sound all night, window leaks cold air. SPA area is a joke, sauna room is only warm. The only postive thing is the shuttle to ski base is every 10-15 minutes.

The Black Bear Lodge was very nice. Stayed mid-week, the room was very clean and the bed was comfortable - the only things that really matter for a short stay. They run a shuttle to the mountain every 10 minutes or so and drop you off right at the door - a great amenity. Also had dinner in the restaurant - it was good and very convenient. I recommend the place.

Dated room with old carpet . Bathroom is newer and nice . Can hear noice in the hallway. Breakfast is average . Only stay for the convenience of walking distance to the lift (less than 10 minutes. There are shuttle bus to the base every 15 minutes.

Stopped for a quick 2 days of skiing at Stratton. Booked the Black Bear Lodge and loved it. Very convenient bus to the slopes, room was clean. There's a hot tub and sauna which were in good condition and the staff was very friendly.

Everything about this hotel is mid. Needs remodeling / updating. One great thing is the shuttle service to the mountain. The drivers are super friendly and we never waited more than 5 minutes.

I have stayed here a few times. A few notes that drove my rating: - I love having hot/cold breakfast free on-site. - We tried the on-site restaurant for dinner and it was good and reasonably priced. Nice to not have to walk to the Village (where some of the food is not so great and overpriced) on a cold night. - The person who checked us in was a bit rude. I have never experienced that before at the Black Bear. - The fireplace was not working - I am sure not their fault but I did miss that. - The hot tub was not ready to use when we got back from skiing. They said they had cleaned it (which is great) but it had not warmed up yet (not great). I would think they could have timed that better since it was a very cold day and I am guessing many people who came in from outdoor activities were looking forward to using the hot tub. It was up to temp later that evening. - The shuttle to Stratton and the shuttle drivers are great! It comes and goes all of the time and the drivers are so friendly.

The property is very worn: external paint peeling, old and dirty carpets, no elevators to other floors, and steps are no ADA compliant. Lots of tripping hazards. Though the rooms were generally OK and clean, they are way beyond the need for life cycling. The included breakfast was not edible and not even up to an average appetizing appearance. There are no views to speak off in an otherwise spectacular part of Vermont. There were festivals in the area where my normal options were sold out, I would have driven further and anywhere had I known how disappointing this property was. Fine for 18-year-old skiers, but not those who have minimal standards for accommodations.

This is the third time we have stayed at the black bear lodge in Stratton and every time we stay our experience is the same.. excellent. The staff are all so nice and accommodating, the property is clean and the breakfast is perfect. The rooms are comfortable and clean, it really is the perfect place to stay in Vermont. See you in October.

Location of property is excellent and shuttle service to the mountain is fantastic. Although updated, the property still feels outdated. Sleeping was difficult as the walls are thin and you can hear every door close and every conversation in the hallway. Good value and nice breakfast.

I love the black bear lodge, this was the second year staying there and we will be back. The staff (night front desk and ALL room attendants) really make it worth the stay, honestly. The overnight woman was new but she was on point. More hospitality services need to hire people like her, she is a gem within that hotel.

The hotel, staff and food were fantastic. Clean rooms and a friendly atmosphere. My only issue was with Hotels.com not processing my booking correctly so that the money was taken but I wasn’t assigned a booking reference at the hotel. The staff sorted it out but it was a slow manual process.

Great property stayed here 3 time it’s is very dated and shows it’s age but it is very clean in a great location has great staff they run a shuttle to the base area in the winter and it’s a 3 minute walk if it is not running

The check in was easy, the rooms were clean and the hot tub was clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast variety was good on Saturday and Sunday but below average on Monday once the weekend crowds had left. Restaurant, cafes, coffee shops were mostly closed due to it not being prime season which is fine but if you looked them up online it showed them as open. It would be good if the websites updated the hours. All in all a good experience.

Got food poisoning while eating at the hotel restaurant from the fried mushroom dish. Game room is very old and most games are broken. The only good thing is how close this hotel is to the mountain.

This property is well located and corresponds to the description. However, it would need to be refurbished from the old carpet in the bedrooms, the old furniture to the smelly gas fireplace in the common areas. The hotel is stuck in the 80s. The quality of the food served at breakfast is really bad and the restaurant is really below average (old french fries and salad, overcooked steak for $44...). So, a bit disappointing I must say. But it is 5mn from the slopes.

Everything was great. So close to the mountains, shuttle is constantly running, bed comfortable and spa was great. Only complaint was the breakfast. It was pretty terrible even for hotel standards.
