The Lotte Arai is the best hotel for skiing and onsen. Super soft endless powder snow on the gorgeous mountain hills and the slopes were adventurous and super exciting. The expert++ slopes can be another surplus if you are expert level. The onsen is luxury level. Sitting in the hotel water with snow falling on your head, especially at Lotte's well groomed onsen is unforgettable. The food at the hotel is not luxury level and limited as the location is all on its own with the city being 20-30 mins drive away from the site. One snowy evening when the Japanese, steak house, and Thai restaurant was full we drove out in the heavy snow to a slightly city area and found a local restaurant reccomending their stove rice pot, it became my top 3 best restaurant in Japan. I would reccomend driving out for food there was also a great Yakiniku not far away too.

Second visit to Arai. Snow was brilliant! Lifts are great compared to the older and more tired resorts like Akakura Onsen. My issue this visit is many facilities were closed. Bakery Cafe, Convenience Store, Asahi Restaurant we closed the entire time or for half our visit. The Plate was also feeling tired in terms of quality compared to our 2024 visit. Rooms and service are great. transfer excellent. Those issues made the great time more bland.

夏場で、自然の中なので仕方ないことですがナイトプールに虫がたくさんいて、 (スタッフさんは網で取ってくれてましたが) 虫が苦手な我が家は5分で終了しました、、、そんなこともあり、宿泊者で、プールにあの値段はなしかなぁ。。。アクティビティは豊富で楽しかったです！ご飯も満足だし、お部屋もきれいだし、お風呂もよかったです！

年末のスキー旅行のために３泊4日で滞在しました。施設の充実さや清潔さには問題がなく、温泉やプール、レストランもとても綺麗でした。レストラン数は少なかったものの、朝は和食、夜はステーキハウスがおすすめ。夜の和食はテーブルの大きさに対して、料理の皿などが大きすぎて、あまり考えられていないと思います。サービスに関しては、和食以外は問題ないけど、和食は難ありです。レセプションでも対応がしっかりしているスタッフと不慣れスタッフがの差が激しく、目を見て話ができない方もいるので改善をされる方がいいと思います。ちゃんとした対応ができる素晴らしい方もいるので勿体無いです。全体的にいいホテル・リゾートだと思うのですが、ホームページが見づらく、重いので早く改善をした方がいいと思います。レストランのメニューも見えないし、デザインだけいい（重たいので結果全て表示されないので結果として微妙であるが。。）ホームページよりも、きちんと情報を見つけることができて、わかりやすいものに作り変えた方がいいです。

The Lotte Arai Resort exceeded all of our expectations on our recent 2 day getaway to the mountains. We only learned about this resort because it was affiliated with the Ikon pass, but we will certainly return for our next snow adventure in Japan. The location was beautiful and less than 2 hours from Tokyo by shinkansen. There was a convenient hotel shuttle that provided door to door service from Joetsumyoko station to the hotel. The check in process was flawless. We stayed on the 5th floor of the Lodge building in the most spacious hotel room I've ever encountered in Japan. The beds were extremely comfortable and the room conveniently connected to our kids room next door. Restaurant reservations were a snap to get online. The Japanese restaurant AKIRA had both an extensive Japanese buffet for breakfast and a tasty local set menu for dinner. Restaurant HA NOI was fine but not up to US standards for Vietnamese food. The ski/snowboard rental process was quick and easy. We were able to reserve snowboard lessons online without difficulty, and our friends were able to join the group lesson with only 1 days prior notice. The Village Station food court had modern Japanese standard fare that hit the spot after a busy morning on the slopes. There were so many other nice details provided at Lotte including: the Christmas Market where we had a nice Irish Coffee, the Christmas Cake, the pool table and darts, and best of all, the Onsen.

This was a great stay. The property was a bit dated and the rooms were older but the amenities were great. It’s not necessarily ski in ski out as you have to walk a bit to the lift. But overall it was a great experience. The hotel had a lot of foreigners that feigned absolute ignorance about the rules of the hotel. What was disappointing at breakfast you see the server telling you use gloves and mask when going to the buffet, and then you see a foreigner completely ignore those rules and uses his grubby hands to touch all the bread to choose one at the middle and toast it. Otherwise the stay was enjoyable.

This property was very over rated. There was no microwave in the room which made it extremely difficult to eat snacks. I thought for the price of the room it was incredibly small. We paid less for more elsewhere in Japan. I was not impressed at all and will not be staying here in the future and will not recommend the hotel to any one I know.

大人４人で２部屋のコネクティングルームをとりましたが、通された部屋が狭い２人部屋でした。４人での予約だったため、ベッド2つでは寝れないので部屋から電話をしましたが、人手不足なのか？全く電話にでる気配がないので、フロントに戻りました。フロントも人手がないのか？だいぶ待たされ、通された部屋が２人部屋だった事を伝えたら、１０分くらいかかりコネクティングルームの鍵をくれました。年寄りがいて早く休みたかったので一安心しましたが、片方のテレビが電源が入らず使えませんでした。フロントに電話してもでないので、かたほうのテレビはあきらめました。部屋は綺麗でしたが、最初に通された部屋から本当の部屋に入るまで時間がかかり、年寄りがいたのでちょっと大変でした。

Check in was a lengthy process. We found that they could not seem to locate our bags and ski equipment that we sent ahead. They seemed disorganized and confused. Other guests in the lounge areas, dining room and onsen were very loud. Overall not very relaxing. The skiing was not great, as it was so warm, the conditions were bad. The food in the breakfast bugfet was good, but the non Japanese items on the dinner menu were not executed very well. Fairly tasteless yoshoku choices.

This deserves much more than an 8.4 rating. We had one of the best ski stays ever at the Arai and we’ve stayed at Chamonix, Aspen, Jackson Hole, and Big Sky. The hospitality and food was amazing with some of the best service possible. The price was so much more reasonable than any other US destination. Thank you Lotte Arai.

This property has everything you need for an enjoyable time, especially skiing and soaking in the onsen. The downside is not being able to explore outside the area freely as we were dependent on the hotel’s bus schedule the ride takes 30min to the train station. We also had difficulty communicating with some of the hotel staff, even though we spoke Japanese fluently! We understand their need to wear masks (sort of) but many times we just wished they spoke more clearly. All in all, we had a memorable time at Arai.

This beautiful resort would’ve gotten the 5 stars it deserved had it not been for the Vietnamese restaurant in the pas through that I reserved a table at. 団体が入ってみたいですが夕食会場の案内の悪さ、ブュッフェに対して料理提供が全然できていない。朝食会場も人数に対してテーブル案内が無いので6人がけに2人が使用したり今まで色々利用していますがあんなに並んで待たされたホテルは初めてでした。ホテルは静かで良い所でしたが食事に関しては残念でした。もう少しお客様をスムーズに案内できるように考えられた方が良いと思います。
