Hotel Chimayo de Santa Fe

Ideal location but complicated setup with parking under the hotel and their amenities are lacking. The parking garage is under the hotel and barely has enough parking for all guests unless you arrive early. The only ice machine is in the garage so anytime you may want ice, you have to hike it to the lobby, go to the garage, then hike it back to your room. Maybe this is normal for Santa Fe but I was a bit surprised that there were not more options. The hotel does have a bar and restaurant and is close to the Plaza and spots to eat. The TV in the bedroom never worked; it kept saying searching for signal. The shower and bathroom amenities were good, but the front desk is lacking in general service overall. I got sick during my stay and called to ask about having something brought to me and no one ever called me back. I doubt I will stay here again and overall, I was not that impressed by Santa Fe.

The room was big. We had a fireplace and a sitting room and the king size bed and pillows were very comfortable. There was only one sink and the vanity area was small but overall we had a great stay! Everyone was nice and friendly and the hotel had a cool little bar we enjoyed hanging out at.

Love this place. A complete gem. I’ve stayed here three times now. I’ll stay every time I’m in Santa Fe which is more often than not. The staff are polite, friendly and very accommodating. The rooms are very clean and smell clean. They have a classic comfortable charm and the mattresses are some of the best of any that I’ve slept on in a hotel. Every room faces the enclosed courtyard. The suites and jr suites are all well worth it and there are pet friendly rooms as well. There is an elevator and underground parking. On site bar and restaurant. Santa Fe Plaza is a 30 second walk. A pool is accessible at a sister property only 3 blocks away. For the price in Santa Fe this place is unbeatable. I highly recommend this hotel.

Staff was great and hotel was in generally good condition. Easy parking onsite and great location for exploring Santa Fe shops & galleries. Would have preferred a gym onsite or at least closer than options offered.

Location was great. Cute property with a nice staff. Be CAREFUL, hidden fees! They charge $30/day (plus tax) as a “resort” fee because you can use one of two pools in other hotels that are five blocks away! We were pretty disappointed as there is nothing even remotely resort about this property.

One block from the Historical Santa Fe Plaza and approximately 2 blocks to the St Francis Cathedral (spiral staircase). Comfortable hotel with a beautiful courtyard. Convenient secure parking garage for a small fee.

This was our first time at Hotel Chimayo de Santa Fe. We loved the location: very close to the Plaza and our favorite restaurants, and it was easy to walk to Ft Marcy park north of town. The hotel decor was very typical Southwest with each room facing an attractive courtyard adorned by potted plants and ristras. We had a separate sitting area in our room, complete with a fireplace. Parking is available under the hotel which was great, considering parking can sometimes be a challenge in Santa Fe. The staff was friendly and helpful. We plan to stay here on our next visit!

Pro: Chimayó de Santa Fe was a good selection as it is very convenient to dining, shopping, etc. Very close to the square. The onsite parking was great as there is not much available around hotel. Con: There were so many stairs and no elevator to get to your room. For baby boomers and advanced, this was a little challenging with luggage. My only suggestion is for pet friendly options: there was absolutely no grass around for them to use. Had to walk quite a ways to find anything. Would stay here again if in the area.

I would not rate this hotel as “wonderful”as you have. You need to warn that are lots of steps required to many rooms with no elevator. Parking also very limited.

The room was not worth the price. The carpet holds many smells that despite the amount of cleaning it likely receives between bookings, it gives off a strong musty smell every time you enter the room. Our room was much darker and well-worn than the online pictures portrayed. The balcony was dirty and uninviting. The bathroom was severely outdated and the television very tiny. There are no amenities, such as pool or breakfast, to qualify the price being so high. The only positive was location, but for only $65 more per night we could have stayed at La Fonda and I wish we would have.

We have stayed here for years, often weeks at a time in the Presidential Suite and Junior Presidential Suite. On this trip we stayed in a regular room. The sheets were A+, the bed & pillows comfortable, housekeeping great. All the staff were friendly and professional. The negatives are: bad lighting in the room, only one small trash can, no kleenex (facial tissues), and the wood for the fireplace was a fire hazard. It was very cheap wood, not the Piñon wood previously used (and the kind of wood used all over Santa Fe). The wood made loud crackling sounds and shot burning embers out of the fireplace - past the chain link curtain designed to keep them in. I went to a local store and bought Piñon wood to burn because it was 18 degrees and a fire in the fireplace was something we wanted. There was music piped throughout the outside and public areas that was, at best, irritating. They changed the selection from what was played in the past. It felt like the mamagement/ownership was trying to save money and cut down on the guest services to do it. Heritage, the company that owns the hotel, has recently purchased numerous other hotels so they may not be able to meet their financial obligations or keep up with the professional management to handle their growth. Who knows? But the hotel has gone down in terms of providing a great guest experience.

The property is in a unique and interesting area of town. If you drive anything other than a compact car, it is nearly impossible to get it into the underground parking garage, and according to the front desk attendant, there isnt anywhere else to park unless you want to use the dirt lot behind the hotel Our bathroom needed an update as there were tiles missing around the tub. If you are checking in at night, it will be very dark when entering the room, so use your phone flashlight because there is a staircase going down right past the entry door. This could have led to a nasty accident since we werent aware and this was our first time to stay.

Convenient location. The hotel is clean. Not much beside that, no refrigerator, no microwave, small bath room, bad ventilation in the bathroom, bad insulation.

Very understaffed. Had a plumbing issue in adjacent room that backed up into my sink. Took hours for someone to come to my room to clean it up. He came with no disinfectant or anything. Very gross

Awesome location, right off the plaza. I'm sure parrt of it's charm is the age. Unfortunately its in need of some maintenance. Staff was welcoming and helpful. Kudos to the cleaning staff . Very comfortable bed with nice bedding.

Beautiful unique hotel with very fair rates. The patio area by the front door and the lobby area really gives you a feel for the vibes of Santa Fe. Absolutely gorgeous. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and provided a map of the area with highlights. We didn't try it but there is a restaurant and a bar onsite. In the morning there's coffee and tea as well as fruit and small snacks. The rooms are located off of a charming outdoor hall. Our room was on the first floor. It consisted of a comfortable living room area, large bedroom, and small bathroom. There was a fireplace which we did not use but I can imagine that would be wonderful in the winter months. The staff will come before 10pm to set the fireplace. We also didn't use but they have a deal with Hotel Loretto and one other hotel in the area to use their pool and spa facilities. The room is a bit dated but was clean and more than ample for our four nights. The fan is a little on the louder side if you are a very light sleeper. Otherwise the area was quiet, even on the first floor. A small parking lot for guests is located below the hotel and is very convenient for your stay although it does fill up in the evening. Very walkable area about one block from the main plaza with galleries, shops, and restaurants all in easy distance.

Their climate control is very limited. Either the whole place can be heated, or the whole place can be cooled. While I was there, they had decided to do neither. If one finds their room to be cold, which I did, you can ask for someone to come build a fire in the fireplace...if you reserved a room with a fireplace. Their algorithm for deciding what to turn on seems to have no relationship to ambient temperatures in Santa Fe.

The hotel was nice, but the stairs going up to our room were steep and long. The bathroom was the size of a bathroom stall. I wish those two things were different, but overall, it's nice.

Hotel Chimayo is an older hotel at a great location. Just a couple of minutes walk to the plaza in Santa Fe, NM. It was clean, quiet, bed was comfortable, the bathroom was tiny and all the furniture in there was old and a little worn. It has a little bar with friendly bartenders that made great drinks and pizzas! The air conditioner in the bar was not working so enjoyed our drinks outside on the beautiful wraparound porch. Overall we enjoyed our stay there and would probably stay there again!

The hotel is very close to the Plaza, museums, galleries, shopping, restaurants and other attractions. Their parking is underground and convenient to register and coming/go. We had a junior suite with king bed and it was nice to have the extra room. The furnishings and room were beginning to look worn as would be expected in an older hotel.

The rooms are not as large as depicted in thd promotions. Bath is small, TV is not up to par, heating is lacking.

Room photographs more exciting than it appears in person. It could have some minor updates that would take it to a new level — new curtains, new electrical switches and dimmers, get rid of the daylight bulbs, update the shower faucets so the shower isn’t freezing or hot, newer tvs that can stream, interior door hardware. If I had paid 150 less a night thus would’ve met expectations.

Clean Room. Good Service. Great Location. Only issue was our room had a stairwell next to it and you hear everyone going up....also you hear everything the people above you do...a bit noisy.

They have music playing through speakers in the courtyard that you can hear from your room. It's very annoying. The music is pointless and disruptive.

The hotel is comfortable and convenient to downtown Santa Fe. The lobby is nice and the room was fairly nice, although the bathroom was awkward like a motel bathrooms. The way we were greeted was by being told that there would be a $30 charge to our bill for parking, which we didn’t use because we didn’t have a car, coffee and tea in the lobby even though there was coffee and tea in the room, and “other items” which the person couldn’t, or wouldn’t explain. However the young woman at check out was very friendly and helpful.

we were informed after check -in that construction would be going on during our stay. We had to walk thru broken adobe, tools , wire, etc, just to get out of our room and walk to office. There was noise 3 out of the 4 days we were there. There are no elevators to upstairs rooms and no one at hotel to assist with luggage. Very difficult for senior citizens to carry luggage thru construction area and up and down stairs

We particularly enjoyed the staff in the Low Rider. Pizza was great. Staff was very helpful with information for our first stay in Santa Fe. While not a hotel service/issue we found it very difficult to obtain reliable transportation beyond what is walkable. Thank goodness for an employee of the hotel company who gave us a ride to the train station so we could catch our flight in Albuquerque. Overall, we had a wonderful 50th anniversary and first trip to New Mexico. We will be back.

Emilio welcomed me with a text, helped us make dinner reservations, called on bell hop to carry our suitcases up the stairs, sent to have our fireplace lit, and provided us a nice treat at the end of a long day. What a gem! Great staff throughout the day and evenings, great toiletries and amenities. Thank you!

Loved every moment of our stay here. Location is excellent. An easy walk to anything in the plaza. Parking is a little confusing but is convenient below the hotel. Check in was smooth. Emilio was a gracious and professional host. The layout is quirky but feels very old world authentic. The rooms were spotless and comfortable. Being able to have a wood fire in the room was unexpected. Great service. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We would definitely come back.

The hotel is so close to the Plaza therefore close to galleries, museums, artists, shopping and top eating places. All within walking distance. I love the parking facility under the hotel, with an elevator. I only wish the elevator went to the second floor where the larger rooms and restaurant are. Wd have stayed here three times.

Hotel Chimayo is in a great Santa Fe location, 1/2 block off the main square. Rooms are quiet with very comfortable beds and pillows. Keurg in mini fridge in room. Coffee, fruits and snacks in the main lobby. The attached restaurant and bar has great food. All hotel staff was friendly, polite and helpful.

This is a delightfully quaint hotel with great parking and location. The bar is a fun place to unwind and the restaurant is cozy and relaxing. The property and rooms are very clean and inviting. The staff was most accommodating. I would definitely stay here again.
