Canadas Best Value Inn- Riverview Hotel

This is a great hotel for pet friendly travels, it is conveniently located across from the river front trail, near the downtown shopping core, and within walking distance from some nice restaurants. It always smells clean when I stay, and as a dog owner I appreciate the hardwood floors over dingy carpets other pet friendly rooms in the area have. The staff appear well dressed and friendly. Note, if you drive a larger vehicle ( long box truck, ford flex or other larger SUV) that the parking lot may be hard to navigate.

No AC in room. Bathroom wasn't cleaned from previous night. Not a lot of parking.

Inadequate accessible parking

No Elevator, bad neighbors in the hood. restaurant closed, window broke open to noise. older place, parking a little tight.

There was no airport shuttle available for this hotel-which it clearly advertises and is the main reason I booked here- I had called staff here from the airport inquiring about this to which I was informed that shuttles need to be prearranged-no where could I find this information in my confirmations. I wouldn’t have minded waiting but wasn’t even offered that, an apology, or any other accommodations/compensation-even my taxi driver warned me that this isn’t a great place to stay and boy he was right-The hotel itself is very run down and down right dirty. When talking in person regarding the shuttle, I was offered no apology for the inconvenience or accommodation what so ever. Walking up to my room, for 1 the lock was not very secure in my opinion-something most single females very much value- the temperature of my room itself had to have been over 30 degrees with only a small fan and wide open window-again I could live with the temperature however the window being wide open on the second floor does not feel secure or safe at all- single female traveling- and worst of all the linens did not look clean at all, the bathroom was disgusting, and overall the whole place was dirty and outdated. I stayed for maybe 10 minutes to get enough charge on my phone to book elsewhere, upon checking out with the same receptionist who checked me in only minutes prior, she then informed me of the fan “for the temperature” yet offered no apology, accommodation, or compensation further.

Reasonable, comfortable stay. Close to restaurants, etc. Some of the amenities needed repair, including the ice machine, soda machine. Parking was limited, too.

For $80 a night, and pet friendly - you can't go wrong. The room was clean, comfortable. Great location: close to amenities, at the river front with trail, park, and playground for the kids. For these reasons, I don't have any complaints at all.

We were unable to stay do to no parking for our vehicles. Very small parking lot. No room for RVs or trailers.

I stayed in this property on rwo seperate occasions both times the ice machine was broken. The heat was not working in the room, I went to the front desk informed them if the situation. I was told they would turn on the heat, about 15 minutes later the desk clerk came to my room and handed me a portable plug in heater.

I may have rated this property better but I got bit by bed bugs when I stayed here, check the beds before staying! Wash itchy for a week and a half afterwards

It’s the cheapest hotel in town but still over $100 a night so I expect it to be cleaner, it was mainly the bathroom that was a bit gross; questionable hair on the toilet seat and old tooth paste on the counter, etc. Most annoying thing though was that the shower head was almost a whole head shorter than me, I’m 5ft 10”, tall but not tall enough that I should have this problem, so I had to do some uncomfortable backbending to wash my hair properly. I will say that I love that they have laminated wood floor instead of the gross carpet I’m used to.

Room was smelly, dirty, tub and sink rotting, water would not drain in tub.

The room wasn’t clean. The shower was disgusting, mold and rust. My sock collected so much debris from the floor. Numerous addicts outside the building. No AC. The room had a floor stand fan that’s it. I do not recommend.

I have stayed in quite a few shitholes in my time, this takes the cake. Staff was good, room was dirty and sink/faucets didn’t work properly, surrounding are had quite a few homeless around. Would not recommend.

BED BUGS!! We stayed in 227. Unfortunately one of the beds had bed bugs and my traveling companion was bit extensively. Outside looks rundown.

Shower curtain had mold and no air conditioner

Do not stay there! Dirty rooms, hairs all over the bed...smell...noise... Never again!!!

Very noisy. You hear everyone that is in the hall all night long. Doors are paper thin.

Good potential but needs renovation. On the plus side it had the best shower of all the places we stayed. Water pressure outstanding

Front staff were nice, checked us in and out fast. Beds were comfortable, but the floors were warped and the fan they had in room for A/C was broken.

Room was spotlessly clean in this basic older hotel. No a/c if that is important to you. Shopping and dining a short walk away. Lovely reception staff. Room at back had a river view. Front rooms potentially noisy as there is a parking lot and a nearby local saloon

Smoke smell in room, no AC, very old mattress, Unsafe doors eith proper lock, shower head at 5ft height..owners have to at sompoint say okay we have to fix this place. Pictures online will not do the judgment

I stayed at this hotel many times while passing through Whitehorse! I used to get a more expensive one close by, but that one can be loud with smokers outside a bar on a Friday night. I switched to staying here and always enjoyed a beautiful view of the river, quick friendly check in, perfect location if you don’t have a vehicle in Whitehorse. Gorgeous walk along the river, restaurants, unique mall, shoppers drug mart, and gift shops are all nearby! The hotel is not fancy, but it works very well and always kept coming back!

Stayed on the top floor in the summer. No air conditioning, was uncomfortably warm.

My overall stay was good. It’s an older property that could use some updating. Only issue was there is no A/C so my room was extremely hot even with a fan.

The hotel was pretty central albeit very old. Service was fine, housekeeping was available upon request. Overall a comfortable place to lay uour head at night. But there were only a couple of power/wall sockets available in the room. So will require some finessing if there's more than one person in your party. Also the walls and ceiling are paper thin. The guests above us were incredibly heavy footed so just be mindful of that.

Rooms were in a state of disrepair

Simple, good location for access to downtown and staff were great.

This hotel does not deserve even 2 stars. We were woken late at night by someone because the front desk had given someone else a key. This other person has the same first name. The front desk did not check closely enough and our safety and security were at risk. The hotel was located in a very sketchy area. Spend the extra and stay somewhere else.

Every three days they clean their room, no towels no toilet papers not clean. Fan doesn’t work breakfast. there is coffee maker, but no tea and only one bag of coffee for three days. That is funny. I hope they listen to the voice of the customer.

Reception was pushy. Emergency doors all taped with signs that say do not use - no alternative exits for emergencies. Room was dirty with socks and underwear on floor, beds unmade and exposed sheets that were exposed looked stained as if with old blood. Immediately turned around to request a refund as we could not stay. Reception became rude and critical, refused to go look at the room, and would not help call the police when we walked outside and had multiple men trying to get into our truck.

The hotel has microwave, coffee, fridge and ice and the room was clean. Our reservation was not properly entered so the front desk could not find it. She told us over and over that we had only booked one night when she could have easily have noted that the hotel was not full so there would be no problem staying an extra night. She did note however, that the second night would have to be more expensive until she eventually found our complete reservation (that had been fully prepayed). Not a pleasant start.

The laundry room was flooded, the front desk staff was rude. She wanted to hold an additional $800 dollars for "security deposit".

My employee waited almost 45 minutes for the front desk person to show up to get checked in. I phoned for at least 15 minutes non stop with no answer. Used bar of soap in the shower. Smelt like cigarettes and weed. Put a chair under the door knob, was not feeling cery safe with all the sketchy people walking around.

The staff were fantastic.

Upon arrival there were several people tweaking right outside the hotel entrance. I was walking into the hotel with my two younger children when a man that was tweaking advised me not to stay there. Told me that he could not let a family with such young children stay there. Said there are bed bugs and that it is not safe for us. Obviously we did not stay there after this warning. Lady working front desk was confused why we did not want to stay there and when why we wanted our security deposit back.

The property is a little run down, does not seem to welcome you. Room clean but uncomfortable. We really did not like the hotel to take 200$ from our card ? and had to call back after 5 days to ask for that money back. We got it back after our call. The only one positive is the price for the room

Walking distance to museums, stores, city trail, Yukon River, and public bus. Room maintenance was completed every day. No AC but a fan was provided. Internet, fridge, and microwave all working well. Good location and safe.

Close to best of Whitehorse with downtown, museum and eateries within walking distance.

The staff was very helpful and the location is excellent. The hotel was clean, but not body picked the garbage from my room. I was there six nights.

The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. It was hot at night with no AC, but I think that is pretty common in the Yukon. Was in a fairly good location as far as access to downtown goes. Was a kinda sketchy bar next door, but otherwise was a good budget hotel

I didn't quite feel safe in the area, especially walking back to the hotel around 10 pm with my family. A man who was also living in the same hotel tried to harrass us and passed some objectionable comments at my daughter, and engage physically with my husband. In terms of cleanliness, it is very poor standard but I was not expecting a lot anyway at this price. Location wise, it's at a very convenient location in downtown.

Cheap place to crash. But, walls paper thin, creaky floors, bums hanging around entrance, noisy at night, cigarette butts all over ground at main entrance, mediocre rooms, smell of smoke in hallways. Here are the positives… the hotel is close to downtown, near river front, near decent dining, pretty cheap.

The building is a little run down but the rooms where tidy and clean. We where directed to park in the parking lot on the property to be able to be viewed by cameras. Expedia said breakfast but the hotel did not provide any.

Free breakfast advertised there was no free breakfast. Restaurant wasn’t open until 11:00 when most travelers are gone. Long walk from the parking lot.

The property is dated. It could use a bit of freshening up. The hotel is in a convenient location but just run down. Information on your website is outdate & even though it is advertised as breakfast included there is NO food on site at all.

This is a great place to stay but it's for sleeping. No real luxury's are provided but not needed as the beds are comfortable and location is great, walk to what you need, i.e. dining, shopping or other. As for value, yoiu can't beat it. The Sushi place, Sushiman, is a bonus, top notch, indoor and great selection. Perfect complement . Additional shout out to Burnt Toast cafe....breakfast is great and it's around the corner, sort of.

Comfortable place to stay. Room and beds were clean. Bathroom was okay. Old bathtub and sink. Nice inexpensive Japanese restaurant next to reception area.

Visited this property on a long roadtrip. This property looks nothing like the pictures online. The property smells quite funny as well. The room I was in the bed was half broken and leaning on the rightside.( one roll and youre on the floor) The floor was dirty and filled with old stains and paint specks. There was no hot water in shower however it was hot water coming from sink. The Sushi restaurant was great! Good food fast service and the front desk was very helpful. Definitely a lower end hotel.
