Casal dos Capelinhos - Douro

A beautiful, intimate rural tourism hotel, set in a stunning location and with genuinely outstanding wine. Helena, who greeted us, organised everything via WhatsApp before we arrived, and saw us off at the end, was so friendly and welcoming. We also hugely enjoyed the wine tasting with João, a member of the family who own the property, who took the time to explain the wines, the douro valley, and who talked us through the experience with helpful information to enhance the experience. The chef, Marlene, produced an amazing dinner and, when we asked to try the 2010 grand reserva red wine with dinner, the wine maker himself came to open it for us and talk a little about it. Breakfast was great, parking was easy. It's a pity the weather meant we couldn't use the pool, but we'll just have to return.

We enjoyed every moment of the stay, from the amazing food, to the passionate and knowledgeable wine maker, to the refresher morning walk at the vineyard, to the quiet chill time at the pool and the fantastic view of the valley. We love it and will be back.

Incredible stay Have never experienced customer service like it, everyone went out of their way to help, the team were exceptional. The room was perfect, extremely well cleaned every day, and the views were amazing too. We stayed for 4 nights and ate there for 3 of them as the food was so good. Marlena is a wonderful cook. We absolutely loved our stay, couldn't recommend more highly and can't wait to come back.
