Property was being renovated but appears the work is going very slowly. No mention of this when booking. Indoor pool was empty Parking area and access road is in poor shape

The hotel itself was very dated. You could tell the focus was on the golf course. The parking area was a mess with tons of potholes and sporadic lighting. There wasn't a lamp or sufficient lighting in our room, the coffee maker was dirty and missing a part. Any kind of painting or carpet upgrades that were done to the room were not neat. Maybe my expectations were too high based on the ad and price. I feel like there is a lot of potential based on size and location but the property is pretty run down. I did hear that renovations are happening. I could imagine it was once a busy family resort.

No restaurant

Definitely not what I expected for a golf resort. Property was kind of run down. Indoor pool didn’t have water in it.

Room was clean, but outdated. You can see they are working on updating some things. Bathroom looked like it was worked on, but wallpaper in room was peeling away from the wall. No Wifi reception. Restaurant and bar not open the first night we were there (Wednesday). Bar staff on Thursday needs some training. Golf course looked nice. The road into the resort needs some major repair. There were pot holes all over the place. I felt like I was driving an obstacle course to avoid them.

As the only people staying at the resort we should have figured this one out. Doors not opening with hand written notes to use other door which also didn’t work. Elevator out of order. Ballrooms and comman area without any furniture. We literally did not see any other guest. When we left at 6:45 am next morning no workers visible as we left. Really bizarre

The lobby was nice, modern. The pool area was mostly clean (aside from a significant ant problem). The property was very run-down. The elevator did not work--and I was not told ahead of time (or even upon check-in); our room was on the 2nd floor, therefore I had to lug a heavy suitcase upstairs. The room I was given had a mini-fridge in desperate need of a defrost, it wasn't working properly. The a/c unit wasn't turning on and the phone didn't work. I had to go downstairs to request a room change. The person at the desk was very polite, got me changed right away. The room I was moved to was down the hall and was comparable to the first room except the fridge did work better and the a/c was already running. There was an ant problem in the bathroom of my new room though. Also, it seemed the room hadn't been viewed by staff in quite a while, there was a spider happily living its best life in a floor corner of the entranceway (of course I left it to live, it was a completely harmless roommate). Even though the a/c was set as cold as it would go, I couldn't sleep well whatsoever--it was HOT all night in the room. When I went to check out the next morning, there was no one at the desk, so I waited......and waited......then I noticed the Nespresso machine and decided to get myself a coffee and my daughter a hot cocoa. While brewing the second drink, a staff member came out and checked me out (he was nice enough). The cocoa ended up being dirty water. Overall, 2 out of 5 stars :(

When we checked in, i told the front desk about having 1 room reserved for the first night and 2 rooms for the second night. And that we wanted to stay in the same room both nights and have the second room close to us on the second night. But housekeeping knocked on our door the second day and said we were supposed to be checking out. I went to the front desk and they fixed it. I was also disappointed that the restaurant and bar weren't open for our entire stay. I used to go on golf trips and enjoyed the restaurant and bar.

The bathroom was full of turds ..no pool even though the advertise it's open..very run down rooms wallpaper peeling off in the room . bathroom ceiling falling off.all around terrible

When I arrived my room ok clean wise but I really only needed it to sleep there anyway heading to bed and there was a big cobweb above the one bed so I moved to the other. Thank goodness there were 2 beds in the room. I the morning I got a closer look around room and noticed 2 more large cobwebs especially one behind closed door and that the one mirror had stuff all over it near dirty coffee pot, used dry washcloth was hanging from shower curtain and one counter had gooey stuff on it and a used contact lense on side of bathroom counter. I asked to have room cleaned and all they did was make beds and clean the mirror. I do not think I will be staying again. Resort needs a good heavy cleaning especially in room 217!

Pleasantly surprised as we went for WVU family weekend. This got us out of the campus and into the beautiful country. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Hotel was quiet. Price was also reasonable. Surrounding area was just beautiful. Nice areas along the Cheat. Would stay here again without hesitation.

Extremely outdated, room was damp (linens, carpet), grime in the bathroom (sink and shower). Would never stay again.

The lobby looks to have been recently updated. The rooms quite outdated. We arrived to a room temp of 62° and a very musty smell. We increased the temp to 71° and headed out for plans. Came back to a room smelling of mildew/mold. My husbands allergies kicked in within 10 minutes. We requested a room change. The new room smelled musty. The beds were comfortable. The pillows, like many hotels, inadequate. There was no phone in the room. The bathroom had no ventilation and had mold. Day two when we left the room, we told the housekeeping staff we did not need housekeeping. The gentleman laughed saying he was just about to knock. However, when we returned, our garbages had been emptied.

We stayed in a suite style which was nice and spacious esp for having 3 kids, but the room had a serious mold problem. You could smell it the moment you opened the door. Even the water tasted like mildew, to the point we couldn’t stand to drink it. We all woke up feeling like crap and feel better now that we are home and out of the environment. Hotel is very dated and clearly needs maintenance.

We drove 6 hours due to traffic and arrived on 7/4 around 6:30-7pm checked in our room, and dropped our bags off to go to dinner. We arrive back to the hotel around 11pm. I had my 6 year old granddaughter and son traveling with me. The room had ants all over it, turned the bed back, there was a huge bed bug or tick in the covers. The pillows have spots all over them. The carpet is so dirty you don’t want to walk on it bare foot.. We had to wait 15 minutes to tell the front desk clerk about the issues because we had to walk over to the front desk do to the phones not working in the rooms. The TV’s don’t work either. Not to mention they have pools listed and neither of them are up and running. Once I shared with the night clerk what was going on she attempted to reach out to the GM. There was no answer. She spoke to someone else to tell them the issue, they suggested another room. I told her we rather sleep in my car. I attempted several hotels in the area, it was just too late and we were leaving the hotel by 9am 7/5 and my granddaughter was cranky. The next room had ants but not as much as the first room, and no visual signs of bed bugs or ticks. Now hear when the ignorance comes in. The morning of 7/5 I go to check out there’s another girl at the front desk. I tell her about my night and the before I can finish she says “I sent my guys over there and they fount nothing. The property was super nice upon arrival. Check-in was easy and staff was eager to help. Getting to our room was fast, easy, and convenient. However, we had barely any internet/wifi service. We werent even able to watch an entire episode of a show because of the internet. It just continuously kept buffering. There was no refrigerator, no microwave.

We seemed to have visited while some golf tournament was going on so our room had no mini fridge or microwave- it’s the little things that make the stay- our bed was comfy but the light shade on the desk was badly broken and whoever they got to repair the walls from some kind of damage in like 4 areas didn’t match the paint color well or the finish as the walls were in satin while the patch was in semigloss- just something I picked up and thot was not up to par to what you paid for a room- I would expec5 that kind of appearance from a Motel 6- we had spiders in our bathroom- one dead in a corner of the tub one alive in the tub area

Good breakfast buffet with hot foods. Advantage was one night booking available for a WVU football weekend, and only 20 mins or so out of town.

super outdated, hotel room was very cringe and displeasing. bedding had rips and appears VERY old. no outlets (gad to uplug lamp to charge a phone) funky odor from AC/heat unit. the golf course looked bland. the cleaning staff snd front desk were very kind and friendly, though.

You can tell this place has not been updated in years. The mattresses were horrendous. They literally psyched into the middle so my wife and I both were rolling inward all night. You don’t have money to put into this facility. So outdated and broken

The room has never been updated - old furniture, old bathroom, limited internet. I was surprised that a resort had a hotel room and overall establishment in this condition. Even the door to the resort was broken.

Definitely misleading pictures on the website. This property wouldn’t be that bad if they hadn’t charged almost $300 a night for a room and “resort” that hasn’t be updated in this century. For that price so far from the college I was expecting an updated room with a beautiful view and resort amenities. It was neither a resort, nor was it a “lake view”. Whoever made up the room had no clue how to make a bed…the dust ruffle was hanging off the bed and was dirty and the sheets weren’t even tucked in properly. There were also remnants of streamers hanging from the ceiling which gave the impression that the room had been used for a party at some point in time. The bed itself was too low to the floor and shifted every time you moved. There was a random jacuzzi in the room that was not in the room description and not a pleasant surprise. The elevator has not been inspected in over two years and we opted to use the stairs because it was evident that it needs to be shut down. The front door of the lobby is literally hanging off the hinges. It appears they started renovating the lobby but beyond that gave up completely…along with simple updates such as the 2019 golf prices on the wall by the elevator. This place needs some TLC and more reasonable prices. We really considered leaving and finding some place else to stay but ultimately didn’t want to be out $300. The only thing the room had going for it is it was relatively clean (aside from the dust ruffle).

What can i say about this establishment, other than it was probably a fancy hopping place in the 70s, and i dont think anything was updated since then. Ok, let me rephrase that...if you got parked and to your room, it had fresh paint, possibly done by a 12 year old Picasso. (Frog Tape not a thing in WV i guess). The main lobby entrance was immaculate and new, but the further out on this sprawling establishment you went, the rougher it got. Our room was at the furthest most point. The door nearest our room would not latch or lock. Forget the water hazard at this club, there was an open room right by the door with hotel mechanicals that had furniture and old room accessories piled up high all around the equipment in a definite fire hazard. The toilet was new but not bolted down very tight, and in typical poor design fashion, the toilet paper was in a spot that only a contortionist could reach. Beds are a big pet peeve or ours, this one definitely left a sore spot in my heart, and back. Bring your own pillows too, because the bed had no king sized pillows to match the bed, and had more little tiny pillows than my wife has on the couch at home, (and we all know those aren't for sleeping on, under penalty of death). My biggest disappointment was that we like our privacy and dont want room service when on short stays of 2-3 days. The maid completely ignored the Do Not Disturb sign and went in while we were out.

Our original room had a slow draining bathtub which hampered the showering experience. We called the front desk and they sent a maintanance man that was very polite and helpful. He worked on trying to unclog the drain for 30 minutes. He finally suggested we have a room change and very kindly made arrangements for us to move directly across the hall. Our next room was actually a little cleaner, brighter and bathroom seemed slightly more updated. The rooms did not have a refrigerator, which was inconvenient.

Sierra at the bar cannot say enough about her. Her positive smiley attitude was contagious and turned a rainy weekend into a great thing!

Lakeview Golf Resort is going through an upgrade at the moment. The place is dated but clean. The lobby reception area has been updated and they were working on tiling of the pool area as I write this. The staff were great, big smiles polite and very helpful. I would stay here again to see the progress as it happens. This place is a goldmine if it's done right. With my son now attending WVU this could be our home away from home.

Thank goodness we got a great deal on this place! We paid $98 for the room (which for this was a good price) but saw it listed for $450 for the same room the day we checked in. While it states there is a resultant on premise, there is not. The halls appear water damages and gross by door 6. Room was very basic, tv hardly worked, internet didn’t work, and phone wouldn’t connect to front desk. Add to this the pillows are child sized and the “queen” beds are full not queen sized… skip this place unless you also get the $98 deal I did.

The front desk staff was very nice and helpful. We were upgraded from a hotel room to a 2 bedroom townhouse due to electrical issues! What a pleasant surprise!

Everything was great apart from the room was not locked and the door was left an inch ajar after housekeeping had been in to clean, on this stay and the previous one. A serious security issue!!

I had a mishap with the parking and drove over a spot into a kind of ditch. My neighbor, who apparently also worked there yelled at me in the parking lot while I was in the process of taking care of and paying for the process. He said some things that were hurtful, but I paid my dues. I probably didn't clean up after myself enough so I have to apologize to the staff for that. And I was late dropping off my keys because I was in the hospital, so I hope they understand. I couldn't reach the front desk for help before a certain time and I had to go the club house and hope someone was there. I guess I was just not used to that kind of stay.

When I checked in the lady working the front desk was speaking very sharply to the guest in front of me, who was a senior citizen. The employee kept rolling her eyes impatiently. I booked two rooms because we had 3 adults in our party. I checked in with my husband and 18 year old daughter and the lady looked at me and said in a low voice, said, “I assume he is your husband?”The rooms could not be further apart and on different floors. We asked for rooms closer and we were told nothing was available. The parking lot was practically empty. The elevators were not working, the pool was in a state of disrepair. The doors to the outside had been stripped of the locks. The railings were rusted out. The carpets were not vacuumed. There was a gator parked just outside the side door full of trash. The TV remote in our room did not work.

We booked a hotel room here for my daughter’s birthday so she could have a slumber party with friends and go swimming. When we arrived, we were notified that we were upgraded to a condo because the hotel was under construction which meant no pool to swim. When we arrived at the condo, I decided to sleep on the pull out couch and my daughter and her friends could sleep in the master suite upstairs. When I pulled out the couch, it was very dirty. There was old food and mostly m&ms on the mattress still from the last visitors. The girls also decided to use the jacuzzi tub where the pressure in there was insane and made water splash everywhere. While also being incredibly loud. The major downside to this was having to leave the condo at 10am instead of 12pm that was originally planned but also that I had to do extra cleaning tasks as we were in the condo instead. Once I went to check out, there was no one near to check out with and after waiting with other guests for too long and multiple calls to the front desk with no answer, we left the keys up front and left. The communication was extremely poor.

Convenient location for football game

Absolutely stunning location, full of beauty. Close to major roads but feels quiet and secluded. We will definitely visit again in-season but this is a phenomenal spot to stay for a day or two when traveling from the Midwest to the Northeast.

For my purposes, the resort was great. However, it's sad to see that it has apparently fallen on hard times. The Legends Sports Bar has great food and atmosphere!

No restaurant

This hotel has so much potential but it is run down and reminds me of “The Shining”. It was sort of clean. But I had my own blanket, pillow. Tried to always have socks on. The restaurant/bar was not good. The bartender was friendly. The TV had about 6 channels. I was disappointed. We will definitely never come here again. Huge mistake.

Decided to stay for the weekend as we were visiting cheat lake. The hotel is very outdated. Our bed was sunken in the middle. There is ZERO info given when booking or on their website about renovations so the pools were not open. Nothing offered or shown in pictures was even close to the reality of this place. I will say thank god at least one restaurant was open on the property and the server / bartender was amazing ! She made our stay at least a little more enjoyable!
