Hotel Montecarlo

The description was very accurate. We knew going in we would be in the Annex building, up 3 flights of stairs, with no elevator. Front desk staff was very friendly & helpful. Very close to St. Mark's Square. Rooms small, but expected that in Venice. Was clean, charming and appreciated the 2 bottles of complimentary water in the fridge.

I thought we were staying in the main building, but it was an annex. There was no elevator, so we had to climb up three floors with kids and luggage. This should be very clear while booking

Great location, staff very welcoming and great to ask for recommendations. Rooms are clean, comfortable and have great A/C. We enjoyed the breakfast and afternoon tea. The hotel gives a complimentary tour to a Morano Glass Factory. You get to see a glass maker demonstrate glass making and get to see ahd hear about Murano Glass and have a chance to purchase if you desire. A particulatly helpful service is that a staff member will take your luggage and usher you to the water taxi pickup for the train station or airport.

An excellent place to explore Venice. Just a few minutes from St. Marks square. Hotel staff were very helpful. Hotel facilities were excellent. Breakfast had a wide variety of food and drink available. The late afternoon coffee break was a nice extra.

We thought the porter they gave us to take our luggage (months worth of clothes) up the 5 floors in the annex might have a heart attack, LOL! The deluxe room on the 5th floor is the only room on that floor, but because it is at the top of the building the hall was scorching hot, the AC in the room was adequate, and the fan provided helped immensely... all in all, 5 stars all around. Just be warned the annex has no elevator!

I stayed 3 nights in the annexe and it was fabulous! The location is very central - lots of great restaurants in the area around the hotel and on the block towards St Mark’s square,They are generally much better quality and much less expensive than in the square itself. The staff are lovely and always on hand if you need anything. One thing to be mindful of is there is no elevator in the annexe and dragging your suitcase up 50 odd steep steps might be problematic for some people, however there are porters who can assist if need be. I would definitely stay here again.

Excellent stay. They also offer a free shuttle to Morano which includes glass blowing and shop tour.

breakfast was very good and many choices, scrambled eggs, meat, cereals, fresh fruit, cappuccino machine, espresso, tea,pastries, and croissants.. juice.. there was even an afternoon tea between four and six. We could get cappuccino espresso and pastries or tea... two bottles of water in the room.. extremely walkable very close to the waterfront for taxis and getting around if you wanted to do tours walkable to Saint Marks Basilica... highly recommend room was very comfortable. That was comfortable pillows were comfortable. It was even a window for fresh air no view, but I appreciated the window.... highly recommend and would stay here again if ever back in Venice.

The hotel is located very close to St. Marks square making site seeing very easy. The room was comfortable. Jet tub was amazing after a day of walking on cobblestone. We stayed in the annex which was stairs only. The staff was very accommodating and helped with our luggage. The only issue we had was a leak in our bedroom roof our last night. We called concierge and were told the hotel was sold out for the night. Our only options were moving to another hotel at 2am, which we didn't opt for, or staying until the morning. They brought extra towels to put down on the floor and told us to speak with management in the morning. We used the trash can as a bucket since it started leaking more over night. The day time manager did comp us breakfast and gave us an email to contact regarding a refund request. After some back and forth through email, they agreed to refund us half of the one night. While we appreciated the refund, it was frustrating to deal with the management while we were on our trip. This was our first stay in a 10 day Italy trip.

Room is clean, and staff excellent

Very friendly staff, beautifully clean, excellent breakfast selection. Decent room size even for our room which was the least expensive category.

Perfect location near San Marco square. Plenty of shopping and dining nearby. The room was clean and wifi and TV worked well. There is a lift available. Staff was very nice and helpful.

Great location. Close to shopping areas and restaurants, st marks square. Room is small and low ceiling so may feel claustrophobic, also towels have stains on it. Otherwise, staff are friendly and helpful.

Vacarme terrible la nuit. De 2h à 4h, grondements de plomberie dans les murs du corridor et de la toilette à plusieurs reprises, pendant 5-10 minutes chacune. On dirait une locomotive! Réveil à chaque fois. La dernière nuit, 4 fois.

Pros: Amazing location!!! You are literally just steps away from the square with all of the popular sightseeing. The area is flooded with souvenir shops and amazing restaurants. There is complimentary tea with little cakes/cookies every evening at the hotel. Live piano and fun jazz trios constantly play in the square, which was so fun! Cons: I had a VERY SMALL ROOM with hardly any room to turn around. A little claustrophobic. The elevator fits only you with no luggage, but the hotel had a hardworking very sweet man who brings your luggage to your room. No bathroom counter space, no bedside lighting or plug in. Extremely difficult to find this hotel if you are not familiar with the area. When the water taxi pulls up to the pier, there are porters who will help you take your luggage to your hotel. DO IT!!! IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY! The area is a maze of winding side streets and you can easily get lost. It's about a 5 minute walk.

Quite small rooms

The room had the best bathroom we came across in Italy. The room itself was cozy and comfortable with two windows overlooking the little street. Bunch of restaurants within 1 minute walk. 5 minute walk from st mark square. Would definitely use again. The included breakfast was really good each morning.

Great stay. Lots of dining and bar options everywhere. Major attractions are only a ~5 minute walk away. The bed had some sort of mattress topper that was extremely comfortable. We are from the U.S. and most of the hotels we stayed in during this Europe trip had hard beds, but Hotel Montecarlo had the most comfortable bed. Being from the U.S., we also really appreciated how big the bathroom and shower was. Compared to other European showers, ours was huge. It made the experience very comfortable.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the apartment and it was very spacious and well equipped. The location was great and could easily get to all the key spots. It was quiet. I think the apartment could do with a few touch ups but other than that it was a lovely stay and I would highly recommend it to anyone coming to Venice! We also enjoyed the breakfast which we thought was excellent value for money especially when considering the price of breakfast elsewhere in Venice if you went out for it in the cafes near by!!

Check in staff was friendly and room was clean were the positives. But do not stay here. Very not recommended. Negatives were that although booking days AC is available, it locked is and off end of October which we were not informed of when booking. That sounds a reasonable time frame, until you realize it was over 70 degrees F that day and we were on the fifth floor, so all the heat rose in that building. When we tried opening a window, a crowd of mosquitos trickled into the room and began biting us. We called the front desk at 1:30 am, covered in sweat and baking in the room unable to sleep. It was at least 80 degrees F in the room at that point. We asked if he could provide a plug in fan after explaining the situation. The front office staff member was dismissive and rude. He said “just open a window.” We told him about the twenty some mosquitos we had killed in the room biting us already. We asked him to come look at the thermostat. He refused initially, saying he was too busy with people coming in—at 1:30 am mind you. When he did come out, he acknowledged that he could feel how sweltering the room was. He said all the plug in fans were locked up for winter some where and he didn’t have time to look for them. He backed out the door while we were talking to him, lacking any empathy or solutions, saying he was going back to his desk and would find us another hotel for that night. This was completely his idea, never called us back. Only slept 2-3 hrs

Friendly staff, great location, comfortable room. There was only 1 outlet in the room at the desk at the foot of the bed. They provided an extension cord for my husbands cpap machine, but charging our devices was complicated and inconvenient. The bathroom was very small and you had to climb over the toilet to get in the shower. It was very clean with a nice hot shower, though.

Our room was very clean. Electric kettle with teas& instant coffee was good. The only complaint in room 405 was the proximity of sink to toilet. It was difficult to get up because it was SO close to sink. I'd imagine a bidet wouldn't be needed as much, that space would be better suited for the toilet. Robes & slippers were a nice touch.

We booked three rooms for a one night stay. The management couldn't have been nicer or more professional. The morning we were leaving it was pouring down rain and they helped us secure a porter to take our luggage to our water taxi. They also helped us cover a couple pieces of luggage with black garbage bags. The location was great. We were approximately 5-7 minutes from the water taxi and also to the square which included St. Mark's basilica and the Doge palace. I would definitely recommend this hotel to any friend.

Property was very clean, hotel personnel were helpful. They answered questions, made recommendations and assisted with our luggage, as we were in the Annex building, which has no elevators. Would stay here again!

Staff at Hotel Montecarlo were amazing and friendly. The hotel was conveniently located near the basilica, shopping and restaurants. The hotel was clean and quaint. The breakfast buffet and afternoon tea was a plus. Very happy and would highly recommend staying at this hotel.

The location of the hotel is great! Staff were wonderful and friendly. Front desk Marteno was awesome! Super helpful. Google maps put us in the back of the hotel but someone who worked at the hotel knew we were confused and pointed us in the right direction. I would definitely use this hotel again. Location was everything.

Our stay was only 1 night, but the staff were all extremely helpful and very friendly. They took care of our water taxi reservations to & from the airport. Hotel location is close to many sites to see and shops to visit. Very pleasant stay, we will be back.

The property itself was fine - appreciated the breakfast selection and afternoon tea & sweets BUT the 'bell boy' was rude and demanded money for bringing up our bags which we volunteered to happily do ourselves but were TOLD to leave them for him then he refused to leave our room without payment, which was very distressing for 2 single ladies alone in our hotel room and a man that refused to leave. Also the A/C didn't work so we were forced to leave the windows open all night and got eaten alive by mosquitos for 3 nights - we both left covered in bites.

Friendly and helpful staff at the hotel made our trip easy and fun! We didn’t even have to ask for recommendations as they were proactive about suggesting things to do. Wonderful breakfast every morning. And right in the heart of San Marco.

Massimo was awesome!! So helpful! All of the staff was great and the location was perfect. Definitely keeping this place in mind for my next visit.

The staff is amazing Massimo, and Dario came through with last-minute airport transportation arrangements and were very helpful. The full breakfast was delicious and the hotel’s location was convenient near San Marco square. Lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. The room was clean and comfortable. The only negative was noise from people in the upper floors and hallway, but overall it was a very good experience.

Great hotel for central Venice. Close to St Marks Square but hotel itself was quiet. Friendly staff. Beautiful room.

Hotel and staff = nice Hotel location = horrible. Far from the train/bus station and no bag courier will take your bags that far. You will walk and go up and down stairs to reach the hotel. No room service, tiny rooms.

Not for people with luggages

The hotel is very conveniently located, and close to transportation. The staff was outstanding and always very helpful.

Excellent location

Fantastic location.....great room....and staff was amazing. Only drawback is that it is not directly on a canal but i will trade the quiet for the bustle of a canal. The afternoon tea was an added plus. Oh, one other minor issue. While breakfast was great, scrambled eggs were too runny for my taste. I will never stay anywhere else in Venice. They make you feel at home.

Staff were amazing and the location brilliant. Room was a touch dated and showing some wear and tear with the handles especially. Breakfast room was cramped and the menu a bit sparse.
