Location of hotel is about 12 minute walk from ferry terminal and short 5 minute walk to tourist areas. For those who have mobility issues may have some challenges going there by foot. Only the front desk staff is able to speak some basic english, otherwise most other staff spoke almost primarily japanese. The hotel room we chose (western twin room with onsen bath in room) looks updated compared with the rest of the hotel. Clean room and comfortable twin beds and a very nice in-room onsen with a beautiful view of the torri gate and the ocean. Word of advice is to NOT get a room on the 6th floor because its the same floor as the buffet restaurant (with its very poor ventilation) which has grilled seafood and the smoke not only fills up the restaurant (and your clothing/body) but the smoke also lingers in the hallway of the 6th floor in the evenings. Thank goodness it did not get into the room as long as you keep your doors closed. Buffet restaurant otherwise is not too bad for a buffet but selection is primarily japanese food if thats an issue for you. "Outside onsen" not truly outside is abit on the small side and one of the two shower handles was leaking badly and needs replacement rather then taped up... regular onsen also had some maintenance issues with its bathing facility. Overall, it was an average stay.

Viele Japaner sind Perfektionisten. Von den anderen haben sich einige zusammengeschlossen und Livemaxx gestartet. Viele gute Ideen, mäßige bis schlechte Ausführung. Yakutsi im Zimmer, aber die Pumpe brummt die ganze Nacht, weil man sie nicht abschalten kann. Weicher Teppichboden, aber die Ecken voller Staub und Flusen. Das Schwimmbad voller Algen (glitschiger grüner Boden). Beim Dinner kann man am Tisch selbst grillen. Die Fettemulsion führt zu intensivem Reinigungsbedarf, dem aber nicht nachgekommen wird. Fassen Sie nicht versehentlich auf die Abtrennung zwischen den Tischen. ABER: Die Lage ist toll, man hat einen tollen Blick über die Bucht und zum Itsukushima, das Personal ist bemüht, gebt ihm eine Chance. Man kann auch durchaus woanders essen. Und auf der Insel zu übernachten war unsere beste Idee bisher.

L'hôtel est dans son jus. Vieillot , il mériterait grandement un coup de neuf . Nous avions pris une chambre avec osen sur le balcon, très bien. La chambre était grande , accueillante mais toujours le bruit de la clim . L'hôtel manque grandement d'une extraction d'air, il propose au restaurant du 6e étage, des plats cuits a table , mais pas d'extraction d'air, ça sans le poisson grillé partout dans les couloirs. Le osen hommes est très bien.

Très bon hôtel. Les chambres avec onsen privatif sont très agréables, ainsi que l'accès à une petite piscine. Dommage que le jour de notre séjour, le store occultant était cassé, le levé de soleil nous a réveillé très tôt.

This property overall is very nice. The facilities feel a bit older but they are more upscale. The rooms have a ton of space in them and the onsen was great. There were some quirks, like outside lights not turning off and staff telling us they could not be turned off but then they turned off a bit later. You can rent e-bikes which we did as we got there early before check in.

The pool was green, everything was dirty from the elevator in the lobby to the room we stayed in. The room definitely didn’t give the same energy the pictures gave . It smelled, there was a spider in my room, and housekeeping was horrible. I will not be recommending this place to anyone.

LiVEMAX Resort Akimiyajima is conveniently located, just a short walk from the jetty. Despite being close to the arrival point, the ryokan sits slightly away from the main crowds, offering a quieter and more relaxed stay. Check in was smooth, and the ryokan already had our Expedia reservations prepared. As with all traditional ryokan, copies of our passports were taken, and footwear must be removed at the main lobby before changing into the in house slippers. Our room featured a private onsen with a beautiful view of the O Torii, which was a highlight of the stay. Amenities such as coffee, toothbrushes, and combs were provided directly in the room. Coin laundry is not available in the hotel. The nearest laundromat is located outside the property, just a short walk away. Electric bicycles are available for rent at the resort, at Y500 for 2 hours or Y1000 for a full day, making it easy to explore Miyajima at your own pace. The public onsen areas are located on the second floor and include both an indoor bath and an outdoor pool with a deck. Free ramen is served on the second floor from 9.30pm. The restaurant and smoking room are located on level six, and there is a small snacks shop at the main lobby. The ryokan is located just off the bustling Omotesandō Shopping Street, with plenty of food options nearby. The room I stayed in had a number of issues which should really have been addressed. Firstly, the room had glass bathing room in it. This wasn't sealed correctly and steamed up the windows in the room contstantly. Due to this, the windows had condenstaion/water dripping down the windows all night. This seems to have been for a long time as the wallpaper under the window was peeling off. I am faily certian black mould was developing there because of this. The window blinds were removed (I suspect due to the constant dripping of water/condensation causing damage to them like the wallpaper). This meant the extremely bright lights outside the windw were shining all night, and I had no way to turn them off. I also planned to use the dressing gown provided after a shower, however after lifting one, found bugs hiding under it which I had to clear out of the room. I suspect the left the window open to air it out/make less humid? But with no bug filter and the bright lights that can't be turned off, it attracted some bugs. The temprature in the room was hot and humid (from the poorly sealed glass bathing room). I wanted to open a window, but couldnt, because it would attact more bugs and without an incest filter in the window wasn't an option.

I hope you read this review before you book this hotel. I will recommend you DON’T book this hotel. It was the only one available for the night we wanted to stay in Miyajima so we had to book it. We read some bad reviews but we risked it. Well it was VERY VERY bad. The hotel is very old and it feels unkept and dirty. The comforters were supposed to be white but they now look yellow with stains. Completely disgusting. Additionally the entire hotel smelled like strong seafood all over. Not in a good way! We had to put towels in the door so that they strong smell wouldn’t come into our room. We ended up spending our time outside of the hotel until late at night and woke up super early to checkout because the smell was unbearable. You can have an old hotel but at least keep it clean and fresh. This hotel needs a renovation and new management. We 100% regretted booking this hotel.

Perfect base to explore Miyajima. Close to everything. Facility was clean. Rooms were roomy but I can hear people in the room above me stomping at night.

The most that stands out in our (wife and I) minds is the dinner and breakfast. I chose the half board plan with the room reservation. The dinner included almost everything from seafood, chef prepared steak, and sukiyaki boxes. The table had a grill to cook shelled clams, oysters, shrimp,and more. Plus a sukiyaki hot pot. The breakfast was just as fabulous with Japanese and western choices. Our room was Western/Japanese with a hot tub enclosure. The tub would/could not get hot as an onsen tub which was disappointing. The room was adequate but there was hardly any storage space. Everything stayed in our suitcase. All in all we were there for one night to enjoy the Miyajima Island without the midday crowd. And to beat the crowd to enjoy Mt. Misen.

The dinner included almost everything from seafood, chef prepared steak, and sukiyaki boxes. The table had a grill to cook shelled clams, oysters, shrimp,and more. Plus a sukiyaki hot pot. The breakfast was just as fabulous with Japanese and western choices. Our room was Western/Japanese with a hot tub enclosure. The tub would/could not get hot as an onsen tub which was disappointing. The room was adequate but there was hardly any storage space. Everything stayed in our suitcase. All in all we were there for one night to enjoy the Miyajima Island without the midday crowd. And to beat the crowd to enjoy Mt. Misen.

Location of hotel is about 12 minute walk from ferry terminal and short 5 minute walk to tourist areas. For those who have mobility issues may have some challenges going there by foot. Only the front desk staff is able to speak some basic english, otherwise most other staff spoke almost primarily japanese. The hotel room we chose (western twin room with onsen bath in room) looks updated compared with the rest of the hotel. Clean room and comfortable twin beds and a very nice in-room onsen with a beautiful view of the torri gate and the ocean. Word of advice is to NOT get a room on the 6th floor because its the same floor as the buffet restaurant (with its very poor ventilation) which has grilled seafood and the smoke not only fills up the restaurant (and your clothing/body) but the smoke also lingers in the hallway of the 6th floor in the evenings. Thank goodness it did not get into the room as long as you keep your doors closed. Buffet restaurant otherwise is not too bad for a buffet but selection is primarily japanese food if thats an issue for you. "Outside onsen" not truly outside is abit on the small side and one of the two shower handles was leaking badly and needs replacement rather then taped up... regular onsen also had some maintenance issues with its bathing facility. Overall, it was an average stay.

Fantstic large room, with a great view of the Tori at night. Reviews we read had us worried the hotel would be too old, however we found that while some of the finishing around the room (mainly wood surfaces) are a bit older, the general experience and hotel are quite current and renovated. The location is fantastic and the amenities are great, would definitely stay there again. As a side note, the island is pretty "quiet" at night, so if you are arriving late, definitely plan to stay the next day at least for lunch, since you will probably arrive as everything is closing down and will miss it if you leave early.

Great service from the staff and room (432) was the nicest i have stayed in over 21 years visiting Japan. This is a traditional style Japanese Hotel so no shoes but well worth the stay. Highly recommended and a must over ight stay if visiting Miyajima !

An amazing property, we were very well looked after from start to finish. Food and service was great, staff helped cooking traditional Japanese meals in buffet restaurant. We had previous poor reviews, but we certainly could not find fault in any part of our stay. We would return without hesitation.

LiveMax hotel on Miyajima was a the perfect place for an overnight trip. Perfectly situated close to the ferry station and walkable to all the sights on the island. They rent bicycles if needed. The dinner buffet was insane (mad rush to the sushi and beef for yakitori at the table) but it was a unique experience to say the least. Delicious food provided. We had excellent customer service during the check in and check out process. You are assigned a locker for outdoor shoes upon arrival and have to wear the provided leather slippers while on site. The room was extremely spacious (for Japan standards) and the 2 waters provided were appreciated.

The climb up the front of the hotel is dangerous. Large crack at bottom of slope. Very difficult pulling suitcases up the short slope. Too much space between stepping stones. Carpets in hallways need to be replaced. Hot water heating pot top is broken and there a large gouge in the door separating the bath from the main room

Nice location and the island is fantastic. Our room was very run down compared to others who had the same newer areas and views. Very average for the money. Room was traditional which was not mentioned when booking. Had to set up beds ourselves. Not fun after a long day.

LiVEMAX Resort Akimiyajima is conveniently located, just a short walk from the jetty. Despite being close to the arrival point, the ryokan sits slightly away from the main crowds, offering a quieter and more relaxed stay. Check in was smooth, and the ryokan already had our Expedia reservations prepared. As with all traditional ryokan, copies of our passports were taken, and footwear must be removed at the main lobby before changing into the in house slippers. Our room featured a private onsen with a beautiful view of the O Torii, which was a highlight of the stay. Amenities such as coffee, toothbrushes, and combs were provided directly in the room. Coin laundry is not available in the hotel. The nearest laundromat is located outside the property, just a short walk away. Electric bicycles are available for rent at the resort, at Y500 for 2 hours or Y1000 for a full day, making it easy to explore Miyajima at your own pace. The public onsen areas are located on the second floor and include both an indoor bath and an outdoor pool with a deck. Free ramen is served on the second floor from 9.30pm. The traditional Japanese experience was a nice idea, but from the beginning with having to where slippers, that were only one size for all ( much too small for me) it fell short. The room was spacious, the view was a very partial view of the water mostly looking at roof tops and backyards. They included dinner and breakfast and although there were a lot of choices the quality was very bad, worst food experience on our two week stay in Japan. Breakfast looked like they brought out several items from the night before. On a positive note the hotel is close to all the shopping and the Otorii Gate. They don't offer a shuttle from the ferry to the hotel (saw many other hotel shuttles) and the walk is about 15min, so dont bring a lot of luggage! The island is incredible and I will be back, but not at the LiveMax

La chambre était spacieuse. Il y avait tous les équipements nécessaires pour passer un séjour luxueusement agréable ! Nous avons pris la chambre avec le bain privé et la vue sur le tori. Nous avons été très satisfaites ! Le buffet du soir est fabuleux et le petit déjeuner tout autant. Le café peut être amélioré, mais c'est la seule ombre au tableau. Merci I pour tout.

食事は朝夕ビッフェでしたが量が少なくなったり無くなったりしてもなかなか補充してもらえず食べれなかったものもいくつかあって残念でした。 お部屋はジュニアスイートでしたが、寝具はとても快適で熟睡できました！アメニティももうしぶんない品揃えでした！

食事の種類が豊富で全種類食べる事が出来ないくらい。 ただ、鳥のからあげ等揚げてから数時間経った岩みたいに硬い物も有り、質的には少し落ちる。

Room was spacious, clean and air conditioned / temperature controlled with lots of natural light, as well as plenty of options for internal lighting. I was in room 602 and had a wonderful view of the ocean and Otori gate. The best part about the view is the bath which is placed at the end of the room Infront of the window so you get to see the Otori while relaxing in a hot bath.

Generally very nice here. Most staff super helpful. Rooms well appointed and clean. Property location is great. My only niggle is that guests are required to wear house slippers as they enter the hotel. The system of managing these is poor and results in the shoes being shared randomly between guests. Also I wear size 12;and could not find these there.. The solution is to assign a shoe locker to each room. Other than that, very nice.
