Five Stars Should Mean Five-Star Service We chose this hotel for one night to relax before continuing our journey. Given its five-star rating, we expected much better hospitality and attention to detail. Breakfast was the clearest example. We arrived at 9:40 am, with service ending at 10:30 am. The buffet was messy and poorly presented: cold cuts, eggs, fruit and bread were disorganised, with no noticeable effort to replenish or tidy anything. Not what you expect from a five-star hotel. We arrived for check-in around 11 am, knowing our room might not be ready. That was never a problem. But a warm welcome, an invitation to wait at the bar or even an offer of coffee would have made a difference. Five-star hospitality is often about these small gestures. We also tried to book a massage, only to learn the therapist was ill and no treatments were available. Illness is understandable, but shouldn’t a hotel advertising spa services have a backup plan? I’ve travelled extensively across Europe and stayed in countless hotels of this category. Five stars are not just about facilities, but consistent service and making guests feel welcome. I hope management takes this seriously and improves staff supervision and service standards. We left disappointed and, sadly, won’t return or recommend the hotel.

Great short stay with the family

This is an amazing destination hotel. We used it as our base to explore central Portugal and couldn’t have been more impressed. Beautiful facility, modern rooms with ample space and free parking. A charming town lies just outside the door. We were extremely impressed with the staff. This is a wonderful, historic, beautiful place to stay.

Property is very quiet, decoration is austere reflecting a modern monastic interpretation. Bedroom and Bathroom are spacious and comfortable. A swim cap must be used / purchased to access the pool. Breakfast room and meal is adequate and pleasing. Bar is austere to the point of seeming unfinished, a missed opportunity.

The hotel is gorgeous and spacious. Great amenities and fantastic staff. Dinner in the restaurant is great. The breakfast buffet was outstanding.
