The DeLand Hotel

This hotel advertises itself as a boutique hotel. That is such a good description. The property is an old building, but it’s very well taken care of, and it’s so charmingly decorated to match the era it was built. The staff was phenomenally friendly and made sure we were taken care of. The restaurant on sight was reasonably priced and the food was fantastic. Both nights we went there, there was live music. I will definitely look this place up again if I visit the area.

This is an old hotel on the historic register. Lots of classical appeal. No elevator! and guest rooms are on floor 2 or 3. My room was relatively small. There was a queen bed, a bedside nightstand, a big dresser, and an easy chair in the bedroom space; a good sized bathroom with a toilet and bathtub. Sink was in the bedroom space. A good-sized closet with an ironing board and iron. The bathtub was an old claw-foot design. I did not bathe or shower during my stay (3 days) because I was afraid I might slip in the tub. Very slick when wet! and no underfoot grip- mat available. Also, due to the size of the tub , you literally have to climb in and out. Im 5.5 and I did not want to risk slipping while I climbed in or out. There was a light on the nightstand, and over the sink. None near the easy chair. There was no convenient place to set up my laptop except in my lap. There were 2 available outlets. The clock had a USB port AC was good. There was an overhead fan. No coffee in the room. There was a keurig coffee maker on the 1st floor with kcups, creamer, sugar, and paper cups available. If you wanted coffee when you got up you had to get dressed to some degree and go down and get it. Same with ice. Ice was available in the bar and restaurant area. Bar opened around 4 and closed around 10 or 11. Rest. was eves only Also on the 1st floor. Staff were friendly and great people. Their service was excellent. In sum, a nice place, but Im 80; I won't go back.

Bar & restaurant were closed, would not ave stayed there if we had known that. A larger TV is definitely in order.

The hotel does have character and it is clean and well-maintained. People have commented on the bar: we're not really drinkers, but the personable bartender quickly offered my wife a "mocktail" which was tasty and, after a long day of driving I was happy to accede to one of the complimentary cold glasses of beer(or wine) available to hotel guests. And the dishes we ordered for dinner were exceptional

Deland Hôtel is a classic property with a boutique bed-and-breakfast feel. Comfortable. Quiet. Reasonably priced. Friendly hotel and wait staff. Attendants do not clean the room, make the bed, or change linen each day except “by request.” (But that was explained during check in - and the fact that the hot water sometimes takes a while to reach to get to the room.) On-site restaurant and separate bar are quite nice. Some remodeling was underway during my stay, but the workers were discreet and were not a problem. Enjoyable. Unique. Welcoming. I’ll be back.

This place was very nice. Loved how old it was. Beautiful wood through out. However not very convenient. No microwave, frig or coffee maker in room. We brought food with us that needed refrigeration. One morning I went into lobby to get hot water for tea and there was none. Coffee was not made yet at 8:30 AM. No breakfast of any kind was included. There was a restaurant on site that was not open for breakfast. I thought it was odd since it was a hotel. On a positive note the receptionist in the lobby was very helpful. She managed to get a tub full of ice for us and extra towels. The service was good in that aspect. Loved the small lounge they had. Location was convenient to downtown.

Classic and under a major renovation which is keeping with the charm of the Hotel. It will be really nice when completed. Great food, bar and service. Definitely worth a consideration instead of a chain hotel. The new woodwork in the bar is masterful.

We come to Deland a couple of times a year and have stayed at the DeLand Hotel a few times. This particular trip revolved around Delandapalooza. We love everything about this hotel...location; amenities; feel; on-site bar, restaurant, and shops; parking; and price.

We booked a stay at The DeLand Hotel for the night of July 4, 2025, via Expedia, expecting a relaxing experience. Unfortunately, it was anything but. When we arrived just before 6 PM, we were shocked to find signs on the doors stating the hotel was closed until July 5th. No prior notice was given. After calling the hotel directly, someone was sent to unlock the doors and let us in. We later learned we were the only guests—the hotel had accidentally left the booking system open. That night, we endured: No working A/C (central system was turned off). Ongoing overnight construction on the floor above—likely to repair water damage—causing noise throughout the night. Fire doors left open for workers, raising safety concerns, especially as we had our child with us. No access to amenities: the on-site bar and restaurant were closed, and the complimentary wine offer was void. No staff on-site at checkout the next morning—no way to voice concerns directly. Expedia tried to mediate with the hotel, but the management refused any compensation. We paid for a full-service experience and received the bare minimum, under unacceptable conditions. This experience ruined our night and left us exhausted and frustrated. I would avoid this hotel. This was not a one-off inconvenience; it was a clear display of mismanagement, neglect, and disregard for guests’ comfort and safety. If this is how they operate behind closed doors (literally), I would never trust them with another stay.

Room directly next to the bar, literally could have put the bed in the bar and it would have made no difference. Don’t go there if you want ANY sleep. The last person didn’t leave the bar area until midnight so we weren’t able to get any sleep until then. There was also a radio on a lobby table right outside our door that would turn on automatically at 4am!! The room was very dirty. Tissues and old lost lipsticks and dirt all under the bed. The room had a broken tv covered in dust. Twice we asked to have it fixed or replaced, they said they would but they never even bothered. We were there for 2 nights. No clean towels were brought the second day. By the way, the bath is right next to the bed!!! There were no cups for water so be sure to pack a water bottle because you are out of luck if you get thirsty in the middle of the night, and you will be hot and thristy because there is no air conditioning either. You will also wake up sore because the pillows are old and lumpy. Not sure what the upstairs rooms are like but this room 101 SHOULD NOT BE A ROOM! It should only be used as a broom closet. 0/10.

The room wasn’t in great shape- there was a large unpainted repair on the wall. Dust and hair all over the baseboards and floor in the bathroom. No Kleenex or cups in the room! No kettle or coffee maker either. I did find an open box of condoms though. I waited 20 mins for hot water to shower in the morning and water temp never got past cool. The owner made a joke about “making sure I wasn’t leaving them for the competition” on my way out. If you’re on vacation the restaurant/bar and vintage charm could make staying here worthwhile. If you’re travelling on business, skip the frustration and go with a budget chain hotel.

Hotel is very nice and clean and staff very friendly. Sadly they do not have AC in the second floor. I spend the worse night of my life. Temperature must be in the 80's in my room. It is sad, because the hotel is super nice, very old, but well maintained. The fact they did not lower the AC after we requested twice (owner refused) made this stay very uncomfortable. I'm not staying there again just because of that.

Staff was very friendly, nice bar and restaurant on property. Never saw anyone cleaning tables in lobby - they had drink rings on them for several days. The rooms are small and nice but need more outlets. Bathroom room needed curtains or shades for privacy. Room 209 had no hot water so we left a day early. They do have a number to call for help but they need some present in the lobby at least during the day.

Friendly staff and close to the small and charming downtown. However, the mattress had more slope than horizontal features, the shower was angled in such away that when the hot water arrived a few minutes later, it helped your neck. The linen and towels need a refresh, or better soap. No daily service for towels or room cleaning.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights over Valentine's Day. For these special days, we look for unique properties that aren't usually part of a chain. (Think Bed and Breakfast OR historic hotels.). The Deland Hotel seemed to fit the bill. If was fine, I wouldn't describe our experience much further. The property is old and tired. Yes, it was clean (except for VERY dirty windows), but the furniture was just old and not particularly comfortable. I kind of liked the bed, but my wife didn't get much sleep. The bed was so high off the ground, that she couldn't get into it without considerable effort. The shower was just OK, but the water never did get beyond lukewarm, and the old claw footed bath tub that served as the shower base was cramped and difficult to get into and out of. We never saw anyone manning the front desk, either on check in or check-out, nor at any time during the day. To be fair, they made it easy to check in anyway by leaving a key to the locked entry door and the locked room in a cup outside on a table. That worked, but is a bit creepy when you stop to think about it. The on-site restaurant doesn't open until dinner. (We didn't eat there, but it did seem to be a popular place for the locals.). The well-stocked bar opened at 4:00 and was staffed by one of the owners, who was charming and welcoming. The owners are new, and they are definitely trying, but they have a ways to go to make this a property I'd highly recommend.

I liked that there was a restaurant on site at the hotel. It was an average room though, the ceiling was stained, the upholstery on the chair was stained, and the towels had stains . The bed was fairly comfortable. The tv did not work. The bathroom was very clean otherwise .

I liked the history of the property but it was difficult getting hot water, no glasses in the room (had to ask for them) and some of the furniture needed a refresh.

Cute little “inn” style hotel. Staff and the owner are super nice and accommodating. Since it is smaller, I was worried at first it might be hard to reach people if I needed something, but that’s not the case at all! They were happy to give me extra towels when I asked and answered any questions I had and were there to help when I checked in later in the evening. Room was clean, parking is easy. It’s an old historic building with hardwood floors and the decor to match the style, which I love! Great location, can walk to the downtown area. I do wish they had fridges in the rooms, but there is a community one that has a little bit of space for you to put drinks in or small leftover boxes. Love it, my second time staying there and will do so again!

Bar staff was excellent! There was very little help on the hotel side. Room 104 thermostat is in the hall so regulating the temperature can be a challenge. Also, it takes a while to get hot water up to the room from the water heater. The lounge is the best part of the property. Staff in there were really nice. One free drink included with the stay each night. The food was great (best crab cake ever….all crab and no breading).

Lovely hotel with old world charm. Unfortunately, not many electrical outlets for today's technology.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the DeLand Hotel! The bed was super comfortable. It is an old building so there were some quirks. I loved the clawfoot tub!! It does take a couple of minutes for the hot water to get going, but it wasn't an issue. The windows in the front are old and single pane glass so there was some road noise during high traffic times. We loved the feel of the place and the bar & eatery downstairs were off the charts! All of the staff was incredibly nice and helpful. Would stay again and would recommend to anyone!!!

Location good; noisy

It’s an old building so there are some understandable quirks that go along with that. Bathroom sink was in the main part of the room. No fridge but ice was available from the bar downstairs. I did not find an elevator. The shower is in an old claw foot tub that would be hard to get into if I was not as spry, and it takes a really long time to warm up. Front desk was really nice, but the bartending staff seemed put out by our presence and were abrupt and unwelcoming. Hammering in another hotel room around 8am disturbed us. Bed was very comfortable.

For a women in menopause, I need to be able to adjust the air conditioner. I did not have a thermostat in our room. The walls are thin. Between the road noise and other guests coming/going, it was hard to sleep peacefully.

Beautiful historic building. The bed was extremely high for short, decrypted old folks. My wife had to help into the bed. The street noise was a bit much.

The walls were very thin. Room was next to the live entertainment and bar. Do not sleep due to the noise well after midnight. Could hear cars and semi trucks all through the night! Don’t stay here if you are a light sleeper.

Unique and historic hotel. I love the antique decor and the staff/ owner were very friendly. No need to leave the hotel for meals as the hotel has a quaint restaurant, with various cuisine options and offers indoor/ outdoor dining. The chef is friendly and talented. He adds west coast flare to classic meals. The Captain Crunch french toast and patty melt were 2 favorites. He even helped jump my battery after I left my lights on! Easily, the best upcoming hotel in Deland.

We showed up to check-in and the doors were all locked. I called the property and the call immediately went to voicemail. I will be requiring a refund.

Confirmation showed checkin time as 2 pm but a sign at the desk said not til 3:30 PM. Around 3 PM one of the bartenders (owner?) spoke with us and discovered we had been waiting, opened the desk and checked us in. After that, service was very good. Coffee and hot water for tea were available from about 7 am on. Staff were very helpful with recommendations for dinner and breakfast places. A large room off the lobby was being renovated with custom built oak paneling in a traditional, decorative style.

A wonderful historic hotel close to downtown Deland and Stetson! It also has a great restaurant and bar. A great find.

The room had a beautiful view of looking into the city towards all the fun. Not noisy at all, and very accommodating to your needs

What a charming place! Conveniently located close to downtown and great bar and restaurant in the hotel. The beds are super comfortable and the furniture keeps the feel of 1920’s. I do think a small retro refrigerator and coffee maker in each room would be a nice feature for guests and not interfere with the authenticity. If you like antiques and don’t mind stairs, this is the place for you. If you are high maintenance and expect modern conveniences, you may want to choose a chain hotel.

Historic inn and a short drive to Stetson University and downtown DeLand. The best part of this inn is the old fashioned bar. Friendly service from the bartenders and good drinks.

This is a vintage hotel. We loved it! The floors are not level, there are tons of period furniture & fixtures. It was a quiet time of the year, on a Thursday & we thought we had the place all to ourselves, then 5’O clock hit. Their stunning old world bar (which was stocked to the nines) started filling up! The bartenders were amazing! The restaurant was fabulous. Beautiful place to have a “date night”. There were lots of seating vignettes, inside, outside & on a patio. All very romantic! A great gem! Perfect for a couple’s trip! Super comfortable beds and loved the antique furnishings throughout the property and in-room. The restaurant’s offerings were incredibly good. We will be back!

Had a great time. The Hotel is so cool back in the 1920's. The bar is fully stocked and the bar tenders are well knowledged and the restaurant has great food.

Great charm. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. Grant & Brian were the best in the bar. Great craft cocktails
