Amazing puts it mildly. The charm, generosity and obvious pride in her Mansion and love of her customers gives you an idea of what Southern hospitality is really about. And you cAN even enjoy some magnificent plants and a garden rooom! Plenty of books to read, magazies to peruse, and the wine is wonderful sitting in the evening with other guests! Worth a trip to Petersburg jsut to viis Ragland!

We enjoyed our stay. Claudia was a most gracious host. The place was beautiful and the accommodations were comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Complimentary wine — a nice touch. We definitely recommend the Ragland Mansion!

Fantastic property, being restored to better than it was originally, by owners who sincerely went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Surprisingly generous amenities (multiple types of coffee and tea options available 24/7, and a fridge for free bottled drinks, along with a fantastic breakfast buffet.) This is the place to stay, in Petersburg!

Claudia greeted us as we arrived and gave a a tour of the downstairs area. Coffee and tea are available as well as wine and water. There had been a problem with our reservation and we had received an upgrade to a suite with no additional charge. Claudia is a gracious host and we loved our stay. We will be back.

The property is gorgeous. The staff was very friendly. They offered complimentary beverages and showed us around the house. There was a driveway in back to park in. They offered suggestions for dinner at a local brewery which was great. The other properties around the bed&breakfast was a little run down.

Claudia goes out of her way to make your stay special and as comfortable as posible. She puts great care and love into her exquisite breakfasts, makes sure that quests have fresh fruit and water and other drinks available 24/7. It is a unique and historic building 5 minutes from the vibrant downtown scene. Petersburg is a truly historical town, I recommend that those who visit, stay at Ragland Mansion.

What a beautiful bed and breakfast. Claudia was a warm and welcoming hostess and a delicious cook. The place was beautifully furnished with a beautiful sitting area outside. It was the best bed and breakfast that we have stayed in.

As a road-tripper who can’t resist a Civil War site, the Petersburg National Battlefield lured me to Petersburg VA. Then I was lured by the Ragland Mansion B&B. Petersburg is a really old town which is showing both age and rebirth, and no doubt the Ragland is playing a role in this new era. What a gem. I arrived near sunset; the light on the brick façade was stunning. The parking lot was a little tight and I was unsure how to get in, but the owner came out to greet me. What a welcoming environment. The grounds are lovingly tended and the entry is eye-popping. High ceilings with intricate carvings, soaring staircases. Victorian furniture, art and lighting. (Ask Claudia about Joseph Cotton and Black-Jack Pershing.) Choose from several breakfast options and let the staff know the time. Stroll into town for dinner. Blocks of ancient and empty buildings, some of which were there during the Siege of Petersburg. But new restaurants, coffee shops and live music can be seen. The sushi place was good. My room at Ragland was spacious and quiet. Love the clawfoot tub. The wooden writing desk made me want to trade my laptop for a quill pen. There’s a TV but it felt almost disrespectful to turn it on. Firm mattress, hot shower, coffeemakers everywhere. Breakfast came at the perfect time. The amazing architecture of the Ragland is matched by the charming hospitality of Claudia and her team.

Claudia couldn’t have been more hospitable and accommodating. The home was beautifully decorated for the holidays, and immaculate ! Very easy access to I95, and only 20 minutes to Richmond. Would highly recommend.

The Ragland B&B is one of the nicest places I have stayed (I travel each week for my job.) The place is historically decorated, and the rooms are clean. Claudia was the perfect hostess; she greeted me and showed me around the place. She was also very accommodating to my special needs, changing my room so I did not have to go upstairs (I just recently had knee replacement surgery.) The beds were comfortable and the rooms had all the amenities you could need; fluffy towels, spa robes, etc. You have your choice of breakfast items, and the food was made fresh and prepared on time. I especially enjoyed learning the history of the place and walking through her beautiful gardens.

Our gracious host Claudia greeted us at the door and showed us around her wonderfully-restored 1850s Italianate-style house (which she and her mother restored). The house is elegant and rooms are spotless. In the morning, Claudia serves breakfast in one of the beautiful rooms of your choice. A wonderful house and highly recommended as a B&B stop.

This property was very clean and absolutely beautiful. The innkeeper was very friendly and accommodating. When I arrived , I was a little confused about getting into the building & there was a live dj / party across the street that rattled the windows until 10:00pm. After they closed that down, it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Room was fantastic, bed was comfortable and the breakfast was exceptional! Overall I would definitely recommend The Ragland Mansion.

We were on the road trip from NY to FL and so so glad that we chose staying at the amazing Ragland Mansion. The whole place was like a museum, every angle of the view inside, is like a painting. And on top of that, we were amazed that how clean that that host Claudia keep it... And the next morning we had the delicious breakfast in the dining room with high ceilings, elegant chandeliers, and gorgeous setting that beat the most of fancy restaurant, we felt that we were totally under dressed haha lol ... We can't wait to go back again & definitely will stay for more nights. Thank you again Claudia🌹😊.

I really enjoyed exploring this old mansion. So many beautiful details! My room was lovely. The bed was very comfortable, perfect for a bad back. I especially appreciated the air cleaner in the bedroom because I have allergies. Claudia was a helpful hostess, very caring. I opted for a standard eggs bacon toast breakfast which she served with fresh fruit. No complaints! If I travel this way again, I will definitely come back to the Ragland Mansion.

Very gracious host and wonderful breakfast - good overnight stay on a longer journey. The neighborhood isn't anything to write home about. It's safe, and we didn't really explore it very much, but our sense was that there wasn't anything really worth exploring. Quirky bathroom set-up but that's part of the B&B experience. Window a/c was loud and difficult to set for comfortable sleep, but that's part of the price for charm. And the house is very charming - high ceilings, elegant rooms, fun history. I accept the quirks for the charm and a great breakfast.

The mansion was incredible and had a lot of charm. The rooms were huge and well-appointed. The bathrooms were spacious and clean. Breakfast was outstanding and served promptly at the requested time. But the best part of the stay was Claudia, who is a warm, gracious, and hard-working host who goes out of the way to make sure your stay is pleasant.

What a beautifully unique and historical mansion. It felt like we were staying in a museum. If you like historical architecture, then this is the place for you. Yes, the floors creak, but the sweeping staircase, tall ceilings and period decorations make this hotel a special experience.

I wish we would have been closer to dining options. After a 8 hour drive, I wasn't feeling getting back in the car and find a restaurant downtown. Otherwise the stay was very pleasant. Ms Claudia was a wonderful hostess. Thanks again..

The Ragland B&B is one of the nicest places I have stayed (I travel each week for my job.) The place is historically decorated, and the rooms are clean. Claudia was the perfect hostess; she greeted me and showed me around the place. She was also very accommodating to my special needs, changing my room so I did not have to go upstairs (I just recently had knee replacement surgery.) The beds were comfortable and the rooms had all the amenities you could need; fluffy towels, spa robes, etc. You have your choice of breakfast items, and the food was made fresh and prepared on time. I especially enjoyed learning the history of the place and walking through her beautiful gardens.

If you are planning a visit to Petersburg, VA start with where you would like to stay. The Ragland Mansion is a gem of a Bed and Breakfast. The owner Claudia is so sweet and accommodating. The room my wife and I stayed in was well appointed with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. We loved the late 1800 appeal. If you are visiting the battlefields this will complement your trip. Enjoy!

After many years of various uses including apartments it was restored to close to original and made into a comfortable B&B. Claudia, the Innkeeper, is fantastic. Met at the door by Claudia who is amazing, attentive and helpful. We were taken to our room we requested and everything was perfect. Claudia carried our bags, pointed us in the direction for a great dinner (Brickhouse Run) and then met at the door again upon our return. She also gave us a tour of the mansion. Next morning we were greeted , again by Claudia with a delicious breakfast! Wonderful all the way around❣️

Claudia is the consummate host. She pays particular attention to even the smallest details to make certain guests feel welcome and comfortable. The property is very well maintained and has the personal touches that maintain the authenticity of the house and her sense of style. Could not has asked for a better experience during our stay.

Very gracious host and wonderful breakfast - good overnight stay on a longer journey. The neighborhood isn't anything to write home about. It's safe, and we didn't really explore it very much, but our sense was that there wasn't anything really worth exploring. Quirky bathroom set-up but that's part of the B&B experience. Window a/c was loud and difficult to set for comfortable sleep, but that's part of the price for charm. And the house is very charming - high ceilings, elegant rooms, fun history. I accept the quirks for the charm and a great breakfast.

This historic property is a great place to share time with family and friends before Amtrak trip the next morning . Convenient to Old Town restaurants. We were welcomed and truly enjoyed the individual attention. The whole experience was perfect.

We enjoyed our stay at The Ragland Mansion. We love to look at the historic homes with all their architecture. This particularly B & B is very spacious and located in the downtown area. Petersburg has much history.

The property is gorgeous. The staff was very friendly. They offered complimentary beverages and showed us around the house. There was a driveway in back to park in. They offered suggestions for dinner at a local brewery which was great. The other properties around the bed&breakfast was a little run down.

Claudia goes out of her way to make your stay special and as comfortable as posible. She puts great care and love into her exquisite breakfasts, makes sure that quests have fresh fruit and water and other drinks available 24/7. It is a unique and historic building 5 minutes from the vibrant downtown scene. Petersburg is a truly historical town, I recommend that those who visit, stay at Ragland Mansion.

I really enjoyed exploring this old mansion. So many beautiful details! My room was lovely. The bed was very comfortable, perfect for a bad back. I especially appreciated the air cleaner in the bedroom because I have allergies. Claudia was a helpful hostess, very caring. I opted for a standard eggs bacon toast breakfast which she served with fresh fruit. No complaints! If I travel this way again, I will definitely come back to the Ragland Mansion.

Our gracious host Claudia greeted us at the door and showed us around her wonderfully-restored 1850s Italianate-style house (which she and her mother restored). The house is elegant and rooms are spotless. In the morning, Claudia serves breakfast in one of the beautiful rooms of your choice. A wonderful house and highly recommended as a B&B stop.

I had an outstanding stay here while in town on business. The proprietor was delightful--kind, personable, and caring--the rooms were comfortable and sweet, and the breakfast was excellent. Can't recommend this place more!

Wow what a absolutely beautiful mansion. Our hostess was above and beyond. She took care of everything with a smile. Very quite location. The on site private parking was excellent. Rear patio was comfortable and relaxing. The main floor rooms in the mansion is breathtaking and extremely clean with soft music playing in the background for a relaxating atmosphere. The bedrooms were just as amazing as the main rooms on the first floor without the soft music playing in the background. The breakfast was amazing. Felt like the comfort of your own home with historic atmosphere. The amenities are excellent. The beds were so very comfortable. My family and I would highly recommend the Ragland Mansion over any other hotel or B&B in Virginia! Wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you Regland Mansion for such a wonderful experience! ❤️
