Toilet stopped up they gave me a used dirty old disgusting plunger and expected. Me to use ...toilet stayed stopped up alll 4 nights they never not once tried to check to help nothing...and there is no breakfast at all none and 1 microeave for the entire hotel brian ..hotel staff rude unprofessional..argumentive uncooperative extremely condescending HORRIBLE..valse advertisement on any site they ate on ...NO NO housekeeping at all...you had to dump your dirty towels and linen in a huge bon snd go to the counter for stsined off white linen and towels awful

The staff at the front desk was inconsiderate. There was an option of paying a $25 dollar convenience fee or a $100 refundable deposit that I had no idea of, and would not have booked there. I opted to pay the refundable $100 because there was nothing convenient about the establishment. There was one microwave in the lobby for the entire hotel, no mini-fridge in the hotel room. It seems that the hotel is being used as low-cost housing for longer staying patrons (which is an unfortunate circumstance that is not the hotels fault), but I was being treated as a "problem" even though I was just passing through for a couple days while I waited to fly out (Checked in on a Friday, flew out on Monday), and despite paying fees, they would not even extend the courtesy of a late check out, which would have been helpful considering my flight is at 5pm and check-out is at 11am. Even an extra hour at an airport would have been nice. The state police showed up twice for disturbances, and the entire hotel reeked of marijuana despite multiple no-smoking signs (clearly no enforcement of the policy). I didn't expect much, this was a very last minute booking in a not great area, and in stead of being treated as a guest, I was treated as a problem. The room had a couch that was broken, there was one towel one wash cloth and they would not give me more. 10/10 will not ever use this establishment again, and I'd recommend taking it off your website, but that's your call. I didn't like paying for parking.

Such a terrible experience. Highly do not recommend. Please save your time and money. I am not going to write every detail to our stay. This review would be too long. But long story short....Dirty rooms, No hot water, No microwave, Phone or alarm clock. Interior is an eyesore and unsafe. Elevators don't work. 2 hours and the fire department later of being stuck in one we found that out. This place is a waste of time and money. If I could give it a lower rating, I would. This place should be condemned and shut down.

No notification that rooms were adjoined, making me feel unsafe and uncomfortable because theirs a door in your room the connects to a complete stranger who could be a murder robber. I’m just a tourists. Shouldn’t security and safety be a concern and priority for all occcupants of any building especially a hotel.

Elevator didn’t work.

There was no microwave in the room. no refrigerator, the was a crack in the celing in the bath. none of the ice machines worked, you had to ask the front desk for more tolet paper

This was the WORST hotel I've ever came to. People smoking cigarettes, blunts in the lobby in the rooms. Rooms havent been cleaned. Mouse poop, mold, gum on end tables, the smell was disgusting, so much more. That hotel needs to be taken down. How it is legally to be a buisness is scary!!!

Was only in the room 2 minutes to realize the bathroom had no door knob. The toilet didn't work. The beds were FILTHY. AC/heating unit filters were caked with years of dirt and dust. The bathroom floor had water leaking onto it. Could not stay there for sake of my friends and family's health and well being. Seeking reimbursement. Checked in, then checked right out it was not what was advertised. Will be disputing the charges.

This was the worst place I have ever gone to. I could stay here at all. There were roaches in rooms and in all way, blood and other bodily fluids on sheets, floors and walls, the bathroom sink was broken and leaking, water out of tub does not drain out. I was overall disgusted by the property.

The pictures online are no where near actual conditions. The door did not lock. There was feces on the wall by the toilet and marijuana on the bed. Almost everything was in disrepair. I was only there for a few hours until I could make other arrangements.

Food, and juices all left dried on the walls. Restrooms had hair in the towels, tub needs to re-glazed all the paint is coming out the tub. The heat said 90 degrees how ever cold air comes out in the middle of winter. Towels supposed to be white they had stains and were dirty off white. Curtains old and worn out coming out at the seams. Floors feel like they are going to cave in. Door doesn’t lock so I had to use the latch. No refrigerator in the room or microwave, a coffee maker with no coffee pot, no cups, no sugar etc.

I stayed 2 nights and woken up by doors slamming really, really load each day. Which was very distrubing for me and my girlfreind.

They hired some Nigerian scammers at the front desk, they take down all the numbers on your debit card even the CVV, then suspiciously a couple hours later I get random charges on my card which I had to block. The rooms are basic operational some has bedbugs from complaints I heard walking in. The sheets have stains, the cable doesn't work, the wifi barely works, the tubs don't drain, there's trash under the beds, no dusting at all, the mini refrigerator didn't work, the phone in the room didn't work, no morning breakfast as advertised. No eating area at all, just a small microwave in the lobby. The towels and rags are clearly reused with stains and if you complain about anything the front desk have been instructed to lie. They will just tell you to deal with it, in so many words, they will not which your room or offer any type of assistance for your comfort and if the police are call they will tell you to take them to court. The state police only care about the hotel no matter if they are wrong. Pretty sure they're being paid off. And don't use the vending machines, they look functional but also take a lot of people money. And the hotel says they have nothing to do with the vending machine. Use at your own risk, is what it says on top of them.

Door lock is not working and they transfer me to a different room which is scary looking

Startled with each door closing shaking the room plus noise. Cigarettes left in plastic cup in my non-smoking room.

The toilet paper was sitting on the sink. The holder was missing the rod. The shower curtain rod was not flexed outwardly. Instead if was bowing downward. The tub looked gross. I pulled the sheets back on the beds and found random small pieces of stuff. The TV remote was missing the back to hold in the batteries. Plus all I could hear was kids yelling and playing in the hall. The people next to me had children and they were moking the whining child very loudly. I thought I would go downstairs and take the stairs not elevator. When I pushed on the breaker bar door handle my finger came in contact with some sort of black caulk. I went back to my room and cleaned my hand off of caulk. Grabbed my bags took elevator downstairs and checked out. I told the front desk that the room had no trash cans and it was loud with children next door. I did not feel I was going to be able to have a relaxing stay or feel clean in this place. They charged $100 fee when I checked in for any incidentals. I did receive that back on Monday morning.

We called front desk and was told maintenance would be there in 20 minutes we had to climb out the window to get out. Only good thing about this was we were in the first floor. The bed was very comfortable. The place was quiet at night. I did sleep well. The place was not clean. There was a hand print of something on the door. There was no working lamps- all the bulbs were burned out, i had to go down to lobby to get one. The cover on the bathroom vent was hanging by 1 screw. There were not even cups in the room. There were so many small- easy to fix items that needed to be done. Completely run down. Filthy & gross

In the bathroom, they atleast provide free soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion bottle. The bad things would be the building itself lacks maintenance, repairs and so much more. The room was spacious but the bed sheets had marks on them, floor was dirty, bathroom lacked a good cleaning, there was a tv and you couldnt watch anything. Despite no smoking signs, the hallway smelled strongly of weed. I was lucky that i only needed a place to stay for 5 hrs. I even had to go buy blankets to sleep on the bed from how uncomfortable it felt. Property has so much potencial. Its a shame they dont put money in i.

I would like a full refund never stayed at the property and the clerk stated that I only could get a refund through hotels.com. The property was very unsafe. Any and everybody was able to enter the property without any identification. The clerk gave us a room key that didnt work and once I realized how unsafe the property was i asked for a cancelation. He stated he noted it in the system that I wanted a refund.

I had an awful experience at American Inn and Suites Ferndale and strongly advise against staying here. When I arrived late at night, the parking lot was full of people smoking, flashing lights, and women who appeared to be working there. The environment felt extremely unsafe, and I didn’t feel comfortable even getting out of my car. I immediately contacted Expedia, and their agent tried multiple times to reach the hotel, but no one was at the front desk to answer the calls. I waited in the parking lot for over an hour, trying to resolve the situation, but the hotel staff remained completely unresponsive. This was at 1 a.m., and I was forced to leave and drive to another hotel several hours away, incurring additional costs and stress. Even after repeated attempts by Expedia over several days, the hotel refused to issue a refund or even acknowledge the issue. Their complete lack of customer service and disregard for guest safety is shocking. This place is a red flag, and I would never recommend it to anyone. If you value your safety and peace of mind, stay far away from this hotel.

I didn’t stay there. The place was in the ghetto. The photos certainly did not live up to my expectations of this place. I wouldn’t stay there if it was the last hotel on earth and I couldn’t get a refund. It’s no fair that they can post photos and make this place look nice and when you get there, it’s in the ghetto and the worst area I end up booking another hotel. And I lost my money for this. Thank you very much for the crappy reservations.

Did not check in. The property had drug dealings in the parking lot. Signs all over the lobby that doors would be locked from the inside at 9pm and “no hoods” on multiple pieces of paper printed out which inquires what!? I don’t want to know.

This hotel isn’t in a safe neighborhood it’s not in Ferndale this hotel is literally on the ghetto dangerous side of the west in Detroit don’t go my room wasn’t ready I was scared to even walk inside. The only reason I booked was because I thought I was getting a deal not worth it stay away.

First and foremost, the hotel is not in Ferndale it’s across the street from Detroit. I can’t believe that Expedia would allow this property to be listed in a location that it does not reside in. The only reason I’ve booked this hotel is because I know Ferndale is a safe area. For 30 minutes I stood at check-in, watching two sets of guests, argue and curse with the check in person behind glass. That should tell you the level of crime in the area. The sink in the bathroom had a rusting completely around the drain. If it weren’t so late, I clearly would not have ever check into this place. I just didn’t think I could find some where else so late. I checked out before 6:45 AM the next morning. Expedia, you are doing your customers a disservice by not checking all the properties. I consider this property to be very very unsafe.

Upon arrival, a large group of people were gathered outside in the parking lot. They were loud, abusive, and had a threatening appearance and manner as I approached the property. Check in was smooth, but the option of a $100 refundable deposit, or a $25 ‘convenience’ fee was an odd item. I dropped off my belongings and upon returning later, found the large group still in the lot, still yelling at each other and being foul and threatening towards mostly each other, but enough looks towards my direction had me hurry to the room. Once I was in the room, noticing a stale odor of sweat in the room, and the mattress was completely concave and very uncomfortable…in the middle of the night, at about 4 am, the towel rack inside the bathroom- inexplicably- fell off the wall, waking me…I showered and left at 430am and the same group was STILL outside, now closer to the building because of rain, and I was happy to just leave the property unmolested….

I will not come back. I booked this hotel for three nights. This is not a place where you feel safe and comfortable. The place has dirty floors in common areas, old furniture with stains in the rooms, I had no hot water in the shower one morning. When arriving the first night, there were two men fighting and shouting in the parking lot. During my check in, there was a drunk man by the front desk trying to talk to me. Same night, doors were slammed, furniture dragged in other rooms during the night. About 1am, the same people that were fighting in the parking lot, were standing shouting loud by my room's window. Photos of the hotel are misleading, I do not recommend it.

This property needs a lot of work in the rooms. The vent for the bathroom was not covered. When they clean the bathroom they left a toothbrush on the floor behind the toilet. And there was no microwave or refrigerator in the room. And the air conditioner unit would not get the room cool enough for us.
