Holiday Inn Express & Suites - Forney by IHG

We booked 3 rooms 1 week in advance and when we arrived at 6pm, we were told the elevators aren’t operational and the only rooms they have available are on the 4th floor. The front desk staff spoke very little English and said we can go somewhere else. Everything around the area was booked. I asked if there was a manager on site , we were told manager will come in the next day (Saturday). We stayed the night, the hotel was dirty to say the least, and when Saturday came, another receptionist working the day shift said the manager isn’t here on the weekends and the hotel elevators haven’t been working in over 1 week. The working staff parks behind your car to do laundry and we couldn’t get out. The halls had trash everywhere. The exit doors weren’t operational. The pool was green. Housekeeping didn’t clean our rooms our give us towels. The 2 nights we stayed were horrible… please find another hotel and don’t waste your time or money.

Laundry, gym, pool and an elevator all out of order. The elevator is scary as 💩! Also, dirty comforter. Find somewhere else to stay.

Solid hotel, very clean. Only negatives were- one elevator out of service, pool out of service. Didn't have hot water for shower 1/4 days

The room smelled horrible. None of the ice machines on any floor worked. Told the guy working it didnt work and he said the 3rd floor one worked. I told him it didn't work either. He said he would fix it and never heard anything back. Has really went downhill since last stay here 2 years before.

Rooms were clean and breakfast was good! The gym had no air conditioning and had not been swept in a long time - piles of dirt behind the treadmills and spider egg sacs under the mirror. Both 2nd and 3rd floor ice machines were broken the entire weekend. We stay here once or twice a year and will come back.

2nd summer in a row the pool conveniently out of order. Gym out if order. Potato bugs all throughout floor in lobby. One Elevator still out of service 3 years running. Just poor conditions overall

Standard Holliday Inn, elevator made troubling noises.

Breakfast was not good at all. Eggs omelette were rubbery, pancake machine was cool to look at, but pancakes didn’t taste good. Pool was drained and appeared very filthy. Monday (night 2) they were refilling the pool which wasn’t cleaned out of trash and green water. Room was clean and spacious.

Pool was drained and out of service. Entire workout room was out of service. Breakfast options were not very good, and half of the available items were not available without asking. Oh and one of the elevators was broke, which meant waiting several minutes to go up to levels.

Pros: Hotel staff were friendly, breakfast was great, and bed was amazingly comfortable. Cons: Only one elevator worked, ice machines didn’t work, overall the cleanliness of room could have been much better! Cracks in ceiling and texture pealing. Walls were visibly dirty. Pillows and couch stained.

I stay often at Holiday Inn Express hotels and no issues come to mind until my visit Sept. 29 at this Forney, TX location. My first clue should have been with the lot conditions as grass and weeds were in need of attention and there was litter strewn about the property. After check-in I headed to the lobby coffee bar to take a cup up to the room. The coffee was cold and it was obvious that it had been sitting out all day. Walking to the elevator I noticed the lobby floor was in need of sweeping. Many of the floor tiles in the elevator were either chipped or cracked. As it was dark when I opened the door to my room, I hit both light switches near the door and remained in darkness. I used my phone light to find my way in. Had it not been such a long day on the road I would have asked for another room except the room itself was fine. No complaints on comfort and cleanliness. I was in the breakfast area by 7am the next morning and couldn’t believe that again there was no coffee available, about half the normal breakfast items were missing or empty and there was no attendant on duty. I also noticed that there was no one at the front desk as I left, although there was a guy sleeping on the lobby couch who might have been the person. Oh, and the lobby didn’t appear to have been swept overnight. This is the first hotel review I have written. I usually let most things go when staying at hotels, but this was too much for a property rated as “Good”.

To start off, we checked in only to have to return because our keys weren’t activated. We went up to our rooms (booked two rooms). One of the rooms, had an unpleasant sewage smell. We had to ask for someone to clean it. However, we were able to get a different room. As far as cleanliness of hotel, it was absolutely filthy. Mold in showers, floors were extremely dirty in rooms. The halls were dirty and their walls as well. The hotel needs to do deep cleaning from top to bottom to look presentable. My husband and I slept over the covers because we didn’t trust that the sheets were even clean. Thank goodness we brought blankets. Overall, wouldn’t recommend it. However, if we pay for something we should get the very least a clean room. I don’t blame the cleaning staff, I blame management. Walk your halls and check rooms before you book them.

We were on the 1st floor and the room smelled like sweaty socks and cigarettes. The sheets felt damp and had the smell of cigarettes.

Easy check-in after midnight. New looking hotel suffering from poor upkeep. Honestly did not turn in the light in the room until the morning when I got out of bed and there was a wet spot on the floor. Ceiling was leaking. There was mold on the ceiling by the window. Let front desk know at check out.

The staff were courteous and accomodating. The facility was clean; the room was nice.

There was a weird smell in the room and in the hallway in the entire floor

We arrived to our room and the mini fridge was full of old food from a previous guest. The door was hard to lock. The floors were not clean. The next morning after slamming the door, it looked but when we returned that night it was not only unlocked, but hanging open. Nasty food still in the fridge. No clean towels or room cleaned, so why was the door opened? Not a pleasant experience.

This place was a dump. Customer service was terrible, I waited at the reception desk for 10 minutes before some random guy came from the back that didn’t work there, yet still tried to check me in. When the receptionist came he was not in uniform and looked like some random street guy. The rooms were dirty, switched rooms 3 times, towels had hair in it, the comforter was dirty with obvious body fluids on them (wish I could upload pics here). Pool was not open but still looked like a swamp. Avoid this place, couldn’t believe that a holiday inn was this bad. This independent location is terrible.

We had no issues with this property. Friendly staff, clean room and very good breakfast. Will be our choice on next visit.

Paint peeling off the walls in the room. Was promised a full refund by the manager. It's been 2 weeks and he won't take my calls and hasn't issued me a refund. Don't bother staying here. Find another hotel that has honest help and is in good repair. They don't care about you, just your money.

Very low water pressure in room. TV did not work. Safe did not work. Staff did move me to a different room on the second night and apologized. Juice machine at breakfast did not work. Milk was also sour. Coffee urn was not kept supplied.

No WiFi. No water pressure. No hot water. Room doors had to be pulled up on HARD to latch. Place was clean and tidy but not in good working order.

HELLO, THE HOTEL WAS NICE AND CLEAN, BUT THE SHOWER IN OUR ROOM HAD LITTLE TO NO PRESSURE. WE WERE ASK TO BE MOVED, BUT WE STAYED THINKING THEY WOULD FIX IT WHILE WE WERE OUT, THEY DID NOT. MAINTENANCE NEED TO BE BETTER.

Check in was great. However, it went downhill from there. When we entered our room, there was no remote for the curtains, so we had to leave them open. We then decided to turn on the tv, it turned on but did little else. We couldn't change the channel. Three adults were stuck watching Kung Fu Panda instead of the news.

The front desk and breakfast workers were very friendly and helpful. The place is falling apart. One elevator worked and that was questionable as it sounds like a rocket ship. The toe shelf in the shower was coming off, as was the bar on the sliding door. The handle on the wall of the elevator was also coming off. There is only two hotels in Forney-Please fix this place up !

I’ve stayed at this location at least 8 times and everytime the water flow in the shower and sink is terrible,, I report it to the front desk and nothing is ever done m, this last time there was NO wi-fi , this location is ran by a family and they simply do not care

The sweet lady at the front desk was amazing! She always put a smile on our faces and was so cheerful. My daughter even said after we got 10 miles down the road "I didn't get to tell her goodbye!"

Was staying here to attend my sister’s funeral. At check-in I’m told I have no reservation. Show the clerk my email confirmation. He already checked someone else in under my name. Took him an hour to straighten everything out. Very frustrating and added to an already horrible situation.

I got bit by something in my room and called front desk and it just kept ringing. The rooms a/c was so bad we tried to change it but the room was hot .there we rude guest who made us feel unsafe and there wasn’t anyone at front desk to help us

The young lady that checked us in was very sweet and kind and made sure we had everything we need. She greeted us with a warm and friendly smile! I believe she was the only one here, but you couldn’t tell cause she handled each customer as if they were the only one in the room! She was outstanding on her customer service!

We were there for just two nights. Wednesday and Thursday nights (Thanksgiving). We went out Thanksgiving Day to see family and came back to find out they didn't clean or refresh the room. We came back around 8pm and told the manager but said they were short staffed. I understand that but we should have been told that when we arrived or moved us to another room. Anyway, we wont be using Holiday Inn Express anymore.

This property overcharged me and I have called 3 times and each time they say they need to speak with the manager because they cannot do refunds and they never call me back. Terrible hotel. Do not recommend anyone go here unless you want to get overcharged.

Excellent staff and excellent bedding. The hotel is walking distance from several food places. I highly recommend this hotel!!!

My family and I come here twice a year for area family events. Great staff and location.

I love Holiday Inn Express. This one did not live up to quility expected and usually delivered. Poorly managed. Rude management. Not ac in 3rd floor halls. Ice machines not working. Cracked tiles in elevator, no cold water in room sink. Dingy hotel for fairly new building. One luggage cart was 20 years old. Must have gotten from Motel 6!! Breakfast not up to HIE quails. Management reflects the lack of customers. Hotel extremely hard to get to. Would never stay here again, nor recommend anyone to stay here. Did I say, manager was very rude and unapologetic after expressing my concerns. He could have cared less. Avoid this place!!

I like that it was close to a lot of restaurants and gas stations.

Overall it was good. Breakfast is amazing, options! Eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, pastries, coffee, juice, and much more! We dudnt swim but the pool looked great. Only negative is it was so hot in all common areas, i felt bad for the staff. The front deskhad a fan, they should not have air too.

Clean and modern rooms. Very good breakfast. All over very good.

In the room the tv and shower soap dispenser didn’t work. At breakfast the juice dispenser didn’t work. Coffee bacon and eggs were out

Front desk service was good, the breakfast was cold and not good. Coffee tasted like it had been there for days. 30 mins before breakfast ended (MON) had to track someone down regarding coffee was out. Staff didn't seem happy about having to make more. Pancake machine was down all 3 days. Pool water was awful, not sure it was a chemical thing or just hazy all the time. Had to go ask for sheets and blanket for the sofa pull out bed. Staff was helpful on getting us towels for the pool
