Very lively pub attached to the hotel. Rooms were dated and needed work doing and also the area where you have breakfast. The breakfast was very nice and lovely owners. Had a good stay.

Staff very friendly. Accommodation in nearby house was clean if a bit tired. The pub is very noisy with a mix of contractors and locals of a type that does not make for a peaceful evening out, that said the pub is right on sea front so bound to be lively. At weekends it’s mostly youngsters so again noisy. Breakfast was good and again staff friendly.

The overnight stay was a pleasure the staff were welcoming and helpful. The bar is well stocked and the cooked breakfast very tasty. The building looks a bit tired not surprising as it is originally an 18th century coaching inn but that didn’t spoil our stay.

They nice place only problem was the parking of cars cost us £24.00 each car on top of hotel bill

Did not stay was cancelled by rude gentleman on phone when i dared to enquire about parking which although listed as having parking it clearly does not ,pay an extra £20 + to park elsewhere some distance away .Does not state that this is a noisy public house but a hotel so glad i did not stay here ,stayed at camelia hotel which was far superior than this and far more reason too

Great staff. Building run down, but the incredibly loud music from the bar was very off putting. The only positive was that it stoped at 12 midnight

Old property, but nice regular clean, só weekend high sound and noice up 12 am, after quite and very nice

My room stank of cigarettes. Unfortunately it really did put me off as a nonsmoker and for my kid. The cleanliness was poor. The bed was made but everything else was dirty. Shower wasnt cleaned. Around the sink wasn't cleaned. It didn't look like anyone has vacuumed either. Found bits of dirt everywhere. Did they honestly think noone would notice they skipped the cleaning?

The property is not at “The Hope Hotel” but off the beaten track and down a side road. Our room had not been cleaned properly. There were crisps on the floor and the back of the bedside table (which was pulled out so I could charge my phone) was filthy and coated in layers of dust. The bed was uncomfortable. It’s a shame because on first view via Expedia, the hotel looked ideal.

I stayed in the hotel’s guest house and was advised it had been repainted which was the reason for the smell. Unfortunately as the weekend progressed I realised that the whole property smells of cigarette smoke and it got worse over the course of the day; the hotel provide a big fan which helped to try and circulate the air in my room but all of my stuff stinks of cigarette smoke and it was worse in my bathroom and cupboard which made me think it’s coming from the room nextdoor. The room itself is nice and clean and the staff are absolutely lovely - they were super helpful and kind it’s just such a shame that the property smells so strong of cigarettes. I would really recommend you don’t stay here it you have a respiratory problem or any sorts as it’s quite unbearable.

I booked the Hope Hotel for myself and my partner, with my friends booking a separate room. Together we paid a total of over £200. When we checked in, we were taken out of the hotel, and down the road to a ‘guesthouse’ which was effectively a student accommodation. The room was dirty, the lights were covered in dusk and cobwebs. The bathroom floor hadn’t been cleaned so it made my feet dirty, so I had to clean it myself. Following this, the shower didn’t work. The owner tried to tell us breakfast would ‘be over by 8:45’ when all signage said 9:30. My friends room was just as dirty, their shower did not drain so after one of them showered, no one else could. Their window was broken open so the room was freezing. My friends complained and received a refund pf £30, which didn’t even cover the charge for breakfast. We were given nothing. This was raised with hotels.com and the hotel said that the £30 was for BOTH rooms? And refused to do anything about it. The owner was rude and dismissive. The check in staff and bar staff however are lovely, though seem to be working with the best they have. Avoid, better off in a chain that deals with things when they do go wrong

We stayed in green 5 which was a house around the corner from the hotel. This was a reasonable sized upstairs twin room. The tv had sky sports etc but we werent interested in that. The internet codes were on the door and it was adequate it did drop out a fair bit but was nice to have. We reported the tap spinning as you used it , it was tightened partly but still turned. Did mention the smell and temperature of the water but nothing was done about that.The cold water came out warm and got hotter and hotter before going cold.. the shower room was very small but was adequate. The room smelt really bad, so we bought some odour gel pots and spray. I think the bathroom fan needs cleaning as when we switched it off the smell wasnt as bad but was still there. The radiator under the window was full of grot and dust. The room was extremely hot could have done with a fan. We had the windows open as far as we could but neighbours noisy. Would have been nice to have access to the garden. The staff were lovely. The breakfast was good, had to walk to main hotel for it but was hot and made to order. A large towel and hand towel provided. Room tidied and tea etc topped up.

The staff are lovely and friendly but the room was run down dusty which I'm allergic to so I was unwell all night, the curtains had loads of stains on the head bord was covered in dust the taps was wrong the hot was cold and the cold was hot the bed covers where ripped and the noise out side and inside the place is bad I wouldnt recommend it for a family as it's to noisy the banging of doors a paper thin walls so you hear every thing going on. The shared toliet wasnt clean and the showers where dirty. The lamp in the room had rips and holes all over it it more a place for people who get drunk stagger home and dont care about room state. The staff are nice and friendly and the food was lovely just the place it self was run down and poorly cleaned wouldnt go back again

Not aware that the en-suite facilities were in another building, that were up a street that was a mixed bag of nice residences and run down homes.People coming and going through the night, making a noise talking on their phones in the corridor outside our room. Couple in next room having a blazing argument at 1.00 in the morning. Smelt of smoke , especially in shower room, but resonated in the whole room.Shower needed a deep clean, it was stained and the tray was dirty looking. Bedding was clean. Should have been a King size bed, was only a small double.

Wouldn’t bother; I’m happy to take a rough setup, but this was a very low experience. We didn’t stay in the main property as we got directed to an alternative house down the street. It absolutely stank! of cigarette smoke - it was horrendously bad. The carpet, the linen, the furniture was clearly very worn and the water coming out of the tap was not very savoury, slightly brown at times. The shower looked very dated. The ceiling started leaking during the night! And then to top it off the hotel overcharged my card by £10, rather than simply resolve and refund this, they denied the booked price and I had to claim it through formal channels. The area is noisy, and the lack of parking is a pain. So overall, I’d give these people a wide berth.

Very comfortable place to stay .Nice and clean .we stayed in there guest house which has an en suite which is just a 2 minute walk from the hope hotel .

Mixed feelings really. We booked the hotel as it was on the seafront. However on checking in we were shown to our room which wasn't actually on the seafront but 5 mins up the road next door! This is not good when all your friends are in the main hotel & so is the breakfast hall. The positives were that the staff were really friendly, breakfast was good, our room was a good size, fully equiped, came with sky should we have needed it & the beds & pillows were comfy. However the room got very hot & the two fans provided were not good enough to cool it down. The key to the front door of the building was also dodgy & it took us ages to open the door on both occasions. For the price it was good value but i would have preferred to have been told before hand that we were not staying in the main hotel & feel this should be mentioned when booking.

Old style but very pleasant customer service and for the price excellent

Did not stay in the Hotel but an associated property in a road behind. It worked out really well as you can park free after 6pm as long as you have moved the car before 9am. Room was big and comfortable but slightly musty stale. The staff really friendly and very good breakfast. Really good for a busy on the front hotel.

I would really love to be able to give this hotel more stars, mainly because the guy who runs it is straight up, helpful, warm and friendly and the location is great. However, we were put in a guest house around the corner in the "deluxe" room and the room was swelteringly hot despite it being only 23 degrees outside that day. There were three of us and we barely slept despite having been given a fan and having the windows open. It must have been getting on for 30 degrees in the room until about 3am and then not long after that we were woken up by the sun as we'd had to hoist the curtains out of the way of the slight breeze - it didn't get much as the room itself looks onto other walls and a very messy and run down outside area. The king size bed was king but definitely not a deluxe mattress, when one person moves the other does too and the fan we were given was dusty and kept clicking. I don't know what the rooms are like in the main part of the pub/hotel but the heat in this room did not make for a relaxing stay unfortunately. Not sure how one fixes that unless you have air conditioning but there it is. Location is great though. It's so close to everything and they did do a good fry up in the morning. And as I say the owner was generally warm and helpful.

The room was tidy, tv wasn't working neither was the WiFi unfortunately, but I had nice room with a amazing sea view, if the rooms tv and WiFi worked I would definitely give it 10 out of 10! But even though it wasn't perfect I would stay again.

We had an amazing one night stay here. Family Room on the top floor, fantastic view of the sea and great for people watching. Toilet is down the hall, not that clean and fresh feeling. Showers down a floor, fine. Incredibly good value for such an amazing location right in the heart of things. We tried to stay a second night but unfortunately that room was booked and we were offered a room on the first floor but it seemed like it would be really noisy right over the pub. Seems like your experience really relies on getting a good room - and we really did. Can't wait to go back.

George the Owner was forthcoming, along with his staff made my stay comfortable and happy throughout so I like to congratulate this establishment and would recommend further to all that reads my review to stay there and what a beautiful building too looks over the Thames estuary beautiful to wake up to with the panoramic views from my room amazing.

The place was lovely! 3 minute walk to the beach and dinning areas, arcades,ect. I had a great time- staff was very friendly and hospital. So was the manager <3

We stayed in the annex about 200 yards away. It was lovely and comfortable and quiet. The staff were all great, very friendly and helpful. There was a fried breakfast included. I'd have preferred grilled but it was tasty and sufficient. I'd stay here again.
