No better place to stay at this national park. It is close to the dunes, very clean, and comfortable. Easy park, easy unload/load from your vehicle to and from your room. Be sure to bring something to eat. Options are very limited. But there is a fridge and microwave in the lodge rooms. I’d send my friends here. Highly recommend.

We stayed in a dome. No frill but met our needs. Very clean and staff was friendly and helpful. There were only two power outlets in the dome and both were used for the light and AC. Consider bringing a power strip. Bathroom was clean and had shampoo etc in them. You bring towels from the dome. There were 6-7 domes/tents, maybe 4-5 occupied, sharing 3 bathrooms and we never had to wait. Breakfast was pretty good with waffles, muffins, toasts, bagels, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit cups, etc. You can also rent a sand board at the office. Overall a nice experience.

Everything is exactly as described and pictured. There are 3 shared bathrooms for 7 domes. The bathrooms are extremely clean. The dunes are visible from our deck. Great value!

We stayed in one of the Geodesik domes and it was so fun. The inside walls are padded which makes in so peaceful. The windows in the dome make it so it’s not claustrophobic. It rained during the night and the sound of the rain on the dome was so relaxing, we slept great. The bathrooms were nearby and they were very clean and accommodating. This is a great location for visiting the sand dunes. What a great national park! Really nice visitors center with very nice staff.

It's pretty much the only option for indoor lodging near Great Sand Dunes...but luckily it's a great one! Clean, comfortable, and lots of little thoughtful touches like the sheltered, well-appointed grill area.

We needed a hotel near Great Sand Dunes National Park. This is the only one for 30 miles so price per night reflects that. Room was clean had great view of the dunes from walkout patio. Breakfast is grab and go, but doesn't open until 730 am which is not good if you are trying to leave early for the park. We arrived back to hotel from park about 8 pm on Friday night and restaurant was closed. Good thing we had food with us.

Bath houses were clean and they provided towels and mat in the dome. The lobby had pizza for dinner (Papa Murphy's and an oven to cook it in). Must be cooked by 7pm when office closes. Breakfast was provided with waffles, coffee, tea, single serve pastries, and juice. They also rent sand boards/sleds Can't beat the view! Grounds were pet friendly so my puppers got to walk up through the tent camping area which offered some great views of the dunes.

Great location at foot of the Great Sand Dunes. Rooms are simple but very clean with comfy beds, lots of towels and Dive toiletries. Minutes away from tge Oasis where you can get an excellent meal. Very good value and view of the dunes can't be beat.

As close as you can get to Great Dunes. Surprising breakfast bar for a motel has a waffle machine. Motel rents sand sleds and store at the bottom of the drive rents sand boards.

Staff were very friendly. Room was clean apart from the thousands of dead insects in the drawers, in the slider rails, corners and on the two insect strips hanging in the room. Room would benefit from a screen slider so people could open up the window at night without the entire deserts bugs coming in. (Dead were there when I arrived) pretty hard to swallow a $300 bill for one night with all the dead bugs in the room. Loved the hummingbirds

Very nice staff. Really clean dome and bathroom. I didnt love going out at 4am to use the restroom, but I did enjoy seeing all the stars I couldn't see earlier due to cloud cover. Tried the geodome since it was the only place i could find right outside the national park that was reasonably priced. Comfy bed. Breakfast layout was wonderful!

This was a unique place with a wonderful view of the Great Sand Dunes. Our room was clean and comfortable. The closest restaurants were 30 minutes away, so plan accordingly.

there is no soap. you cant lock the bathroom coz the knob is damaged. there is still garbage under the sink fr the previous occupant. lots of fruit flies in the sink. u hv to drive 45 min to the town to get dinner. but thats is ok. cleanliness is the problem.

Fairly good for dark skies. Rooms are older and not very luxurious, recent bathroom finish upgrades, but the proximity to the Great Sand Dunes can't be beat. Breakfast is simple but included. Beds extremely hard, might as well have camped and slept on the ground in this regard.

Amazing location and clean rooms! A bit tight in 1 room for 4 ppl, but if you’re only there for 1-2 nights it’s worth the squeeze for the location. Breakfast was helpful but not many options, so if you’re particular bring your own food. One call out is that in a standard two queen room one bed is smashed up against the wall AC unit. We left it off bc it was cool so wasn’t an issue, but if hot I would imagine someone wouldn’t sleep well having the unit blowing in your face the whole night.

If you want to stay close to the dunes, this is probably the best and only choice. The property is undergoing renovation and we were in a recently renovated room. Positive - the patio and the view. Not really negative but odd - the room. Clean, but odd choices in decor. Sockets and light on only one side of bed, open electric box, large makeup type mirror in bath that was glaring and you couldn't really see well, fake brick on shower walls that didn't have all the plastic protective covering removed, shower head was meh, no hooks at all in bath for hanging towels. I could go on. Breakfast was "grab and go" and you took it on trays back to the room. It was just ok. There is a restaurant - the Oasis - down the hill. It is excellent and the only one in decent driving distance. Again, nothing terrible, but you are definitely paying for the view and not the room niceties.

Great experience. Large, clean rooms, Dove amenities, full refrigerator. The best point is being in the park and having the view of the Great Sand Dunes from the room's balcony. Great for stargazing also.

Overpriced motel, bed was uncomfortable, room are really outdated and not very clean, at breakfast they dont have any plant based milk or options so if you are plant based please get your own food and milks. Did not sleep thr 2 nights we stayed here. Very uncomfortable mattress and pillows...they charge whatever they feel like for the great location

This motel is very close to the sand dunes. Wonderful view from the room. There is a nice covered patio that opens to a large field. This was great for seeing the stars. We booked the deluxe king. It had 2 sofa beds. The room was a really nice size. I removed a star because the sofa pullout beds were the most uncomfortable beds I have ever experienced (and my expectations are really low on this front.) They were all springs. Even sitting on it for a short time hurt. So, I recommend packing toppers or a sleeping bag for the kids to place on top of the mattresses if you’ll be using the pullouts. The breakfast was great. Kids and hubby loved the waffles. They rent sand sleds which was super convenient. You have to pass the lodge on the way out of the park so it could not be more convenient. They even have several types of sleds to choose from. Overall, I loved the motel. You check yourself in and out on your phone which I appreciated. The park is only a short drive away.

Ended up arriving well after check in. Notified them ahead of time, they left us a key in a safe. Totally smooth, no problems. Very nice, clean, secluded. Top notch!

I loved being right outside Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. It was the most convenient place for my needs, the breakfast options are as terrific as the staff. Every staff member I came across was friendly and welcoming. It was important to me to have a dog friendly spot, and they are. There's even a lovely cat on the premises, his name is Peppermint, and if you're an animal person, I hope you get to meet him.

I had a very poor experience at this hotel. The staff was not friendly and didn’t offer much hospitality when I had questions about food options in the area. The front desk staff honestly acted as if they could care less. There were various bugs and crickets coming in under the front door and up the drains each night and the walls were so thin I could hear conversations from the room next door to me. My room was located in front of the ice machine and next to the maids storage. Both of these areas were very noisy. The only thing good to say about this hotel is the location in proximity to the sand dunes and the views, but I would not stay here again for almost $200 a night.

Surrounding Great Sand Dunes was very convenient. The hummingbird feeders near our room, was one of the highlights as there were many birds so close to us, as we looked over the sand dune backdrop. Hostess at front desk filled the feeders up as soon as we told her they are running out of feeder food. The restaurant just down the hill was excellent, with great staff and great food. We had a great time staying at the Great Sand Dune Lodge.

The girl who started checking us in stopped to have a long conversation with another guest. I have had some health problems and was very tired from a long drive. We finally left with the key without the WiFi password which wasn’t posted in the room. She was very inconsiderate and used poor judgment. She could have completed our business in a few moments then attended to the other guest.

Bath houses were clean and they provided towels and mat in the dome. The lobby had pizza for dinner (Papa Murphy's and an oven to cook it in). Must be cooked by 7pm when office closes. Breakfast was provided with waffles, coffee, tea, single serve pastries, and juice. They also rent sand boards/sleds Can't beat the view! Grounds were pet friendly so my puppers got to walk up through the tent camping area which offered some great views of the dunes.

LOCATION is the reason to choose this lodging! You have your own view of the dunes! Its so easy to wake up and get into the park without driving miles! Location is everything in this case. Sitting right on the edge of the Great Sand Dunes National Park, this place offers the closest view of the dunes and mountains from the room’s patio. Other than camping in the park, this is the only good option. We loved sitting on the patio with a glass of wine watching the sunset as it cast shadows in the dunes. The room was comfortable and clean. Sad to say the only dinner option was a cheese Papa Murphy’s pizza to take back to our room. Oh well, we weren’t going to drive a long way to a restaurant somewhere. Breakfast was included: adequate choices of grab and go items - muffins, toasted bagel, hard boiled eggs, make your own waffles, yogurt, coffee, juice. The best thing about the lodge is its proximity to Great Sand Dunes National Park. It is by far the lodging closest to the park. Scenery is gorgeous. There are very few dining options near the lodge. Pizza was available for purchase from the lodge office until 6 or 7pm.

It’s the only place to stay near the park so you get what you get. It’s old and expensive but the park is right around the corner. The one thing I wish they would do is make breakfast start earlier. We needed a hotel near Great Sand Dunes National Park. This is the only one for 30 miles so price per night reflects that. Room was clean had great view of the dunes from walkout patio. Breakfast is grab and go, but doesn't open until 730 am which is not good if you are trying to leave early for the park. We arrived back to hotel from park about 8 pm on Friday night and restaurant was closed. Good thing we had food with us.

As this location is very remote, we appreciated the ability to purchase pizza for dinner. Plan to have eaten or be willing to drive a good distance for meals. Prices seem high for what you get but it's understandable as it's so remote and conveniently located next to the park. Met my needs.

The room is clean and comfortable but pretty basic considering the cost. The grab and go breakfast is also pretty poor. But it is all about the location - you are paying for the proximity to Great Sand Dunes National Park and the view of the dunes from your room. The huge downside is that there is nowhere for dinner. We wrongly believed that the nearby Oasis restaurant (unconnected to the lodge) was open till 7pm until the end of September but it closed at 4pm. The lodge should know this and make it clear to guests.

We loved the view from our patio. Conveniently located to the Great Sand Dunes National Park. You need to drive up a gravel road to reach the lodge. The lobby did not open until 8am and there were a few of us waiting to grab our breakfast and coffees. Coffee was good, however the breakfast was just waffles, cereal and muffins. Would have loved some eggs and other savory choices for the price we paid.
