A lovely retreat of a pub. Rooms are sparkling clean, beautifully decorated and have plenty of room. A slight drawback is a very steep set of stairs although the lovely staff offered to help with luggage. Breakfast offered a good choice and a timing of 0815 - 1030 hrs. Dinner menu is extensive and very reasonably priced; a popular choice for locals. The pub itself is set in the heart of the forest and the laid back attitude of the staff is fitting to the rural ambience. We would stay here again.

An 18th Century pub, loads of character and staff were very friendly. Parking is a problem at the pub, however there is parking on the road which is well utilised. Breakfast was included, plenty of choice and a huge full English if you are doing a long walk! We stayed in the superior room which looked like it was newly refurbished and spacious.

This is a lovely place and the pub I see great. The food is very good and the garden lovely. The staff are very friendly and helpful. My only issue is that our room was over the kitchen and so was incredibly hot and stuffy. Had a fan but this didn't really do much. Overall a lovely stay just wish the room was cooler.

A lovely place to stay. Friendly staff (especially during the breakfast). Room was compact but lovely and clean. A lovely pub with a lovely garden. A fantastic breakfast, with an especially friendly staff member (morning of 08/07/2025). Thank you for there pleasant stay.

Bedroom very clean and big shower room with complimentary toiletries and fresh towels replaced during stay. Fresh bottled water and beverage making facilities in room also restocked. All staff cheerful and helpful. Good choice of breakfast and well cooked to order Can be a little tight to park when pub busy but didn't have a problem and our room was at front of Inn and would see ponies and cows wander by ... Great place for walking in forest ,would happily return....

Lovely stay in one of the smaller, cosy doubles. Room nicely decorated and the whole pub had a really nice, cosy vibe. Food was great, always such a wide menu with large portions. Good ale and wine selection too.

The whole experience was top quality from the moment we stepped in, beer selection in the bar was excellent (something for everyone) the room was super clean and cosy with everything you needed (shower was superb) bed was super comfy as well!! We also dined there in the evening with a great and varied choice on offer!!! Big up to the chef as the food was top quality. We will definitely be returning soon even if it’s just to dine out!!!

Great 2 night stay in middle of New Forest. Traditional Inn with welcoming, friendly & helpful staff. Room 5 (Knightwood) was modern design with comfy 5' bed & big ensuite shower. Hearty breakfast was made to order, also self service cereals, yoghurts & juices. Delicious dinners both evenings. Although limited parking, arriving ~16:30, found a space both days.

We had a lovely three night stay at the New Forest Inn. The staff were extremely friendly from the start and made us feel very welcome. Our room, the cosy double, while small was absolutely spotless and had everything we needed. The inclusive full English breakfast was generous and very tasty and food was available all day in the pub restaurant, with excellent choices. We have every intention of returning to this Inn for a relaxing break.

When I first turned up and was taken to the room I was a bit concerned that it would be a bit shabby, the hallway smells and the carpet is filthy, thankfully the bedroom was really nice. Lovely pub and my dinner was good. The girl checking me in was really friendly and helpful. The thing that really let my stay down was my bedroom was above the kitchen and the noise was terrible. I really wanted an early night but it felt like I was sleeping in the kitchen, the noise went on until 11.30pm. For that reason I would never stay again whilst working as it's too noisy.

Rooms are at the top of an awful looking manky staircase, which didn't bode well, but the room was clean. It was small and very hot due to no a/c and warm weather. The common area/hal desperately needs refreshing. Breakfast was OK. Overall, it feels a bit like it needs some tlc.

Awesome location right in the heart of the stunning New Forest. Although it is an 18th century building the room was super well renovated although you better be skinny for the shower! Altogether great!

Lovely place, however we stayed there in the heatwave & the fan provided sadly didn’t help. The room was very hot think having the kitchen extra fan sadly outside the window didn’t help, just like sleeping in a sauna there was hardly any breeze coming through the window .I appreciate the staff could do nothing about the very hot weather. It was cool in the bar & beautiful garden

This hotel is not modern upscale, but we didn't expect it to be. Very old, creaky and funky better describes it (but charming nonetheless). Warning - hobbit built - If you are over 6 ft. tall it might not suit you well. Standard rooms are quite small and the bed is a double not a queen. WIFI works well. That being said, the staff, restaurant and bar are outstanding. The staff are very friendly and helpful. In particular, the restaurant quality is very good (somewhat a rarity in the UK). Breakfast included is outstanding and nearly pays for the room. Good beer and wine selection.

We stayed over to attend a wedding nearby. Room was fairly small and although booking stated a Queen bed, ours was most definitely not a Queen bed. Breakfast was superb, but room very, very hot.

We enjoyed the stay but a few things stopped a great stay. Not sure the hotel could have done much about them however. Room was almost unbearably hot even with a fan going all night. Bathroom had nowhere to put anything but again the space was utilised to the max. Staff were lovely and the food was plentiful. Would stay in the cooler months again.

We were not expecting such a great hotel - it is truly a 'New Forest Inn', at breakfast we were treated to a 'walk-by' of New Forest Ponies' - which was fun as they walked very slowly past the 'Inn'. And the breakfast was 'scrumptious'! Food was fabulous, staff were very friendly - and the room was very comfortable and clean - would definitely stay here again - very many thanks - Larisa & Paul Warren-Smith

Like the fact that you can walk a few yards from the property and you're in the forest. Good location for walking the dog. The whole of the New Forest inn is dog friendly and staff are very welcoming towards them.Very helpful staff !

Had a great, restful, couple of days at the New Forest Inn. The room was clean and comfortable, with a great side of traditional character. The food and drinks are great and they have a good range of vegetarian and gluten free options on the menu. The deserts are a definite highlight! The staff were friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. We will be back in the future.

Like the fact that you can walk a few yards from the property and you're in the forest. Good location for walking the dog. The whole of the New Forest inn is dog friendly and staff are very welcoming towards them.Very helpful staff !

Awesome location right in the heart of the stunning New Forest. Although it is an 18th century building the room was super well renovated although you better be skinny for the shower! Altogether great!

This is a pub with a difference, a traditional old New Forest Inn with interesting decor. Also charming New Forest ponies visit daily and stand and watch while you have a beer. All the staff are friendly and happy and provide great service, nothing seemed too much trouble. Our room was very comfortable and well equipped with tea and coffee making facilities and toiletries. Situated in the heart of the forest just outside Lyndhurst (20 min walk away) its extremely peaceful. The food on offer is high end pub grub with a few specials thrown in and you certainly won't go hungry. The breakfast selection is very good and the New Forest Breakfast will last you all day, no matter how far you're going to walk. We stayed 2 nights and would have stayed longer if we could. Highly recommended however bear in mind this is an old pub with rooms not a swanky 5 star hotel, but the people who work there warrant that rating.

Lovely New Forest location inn, close to Beaulieu. The rooms were comfortable and well equipped, although getting to them requires a steep staircase and a walk across the back of the building. Other than that the bar area and restaurant have a lovey feel to them, and the staff were excellent. We had an evening meal and breakfast there, both of which were very nice. We plan to stay there again.

Its in the middle of the forest, horses, donkeys are a regular attraction in the carpark. After the last customer has left the premises the silence and darkness is golden. Breakfast and dinner as always impeccable as is the service.

Bedroom very clean and big shower room with complimentary toiletries and fresh towels replaced during stay. Fresh bottled water and beverage making facilities in room also restocked. All staff cheerful and helpful. Good choice of breakfast and well cooked to order Can be a little tight to park when pub busy but didn't have a problem and our room was at front of Inn and would see ponies and cows wander by ... Great place for walking in forest ,would happily return....

We were not expecting such a great hotel - it is truly a 'New Forest Inn', at breakfast we were treated to a 'walk-by' of New Forest Ponies' - which was fun as they walked very slowly past the 'Inn'. And the breakfast was 'scrumptious'! Food was fabulous, staff were very friendly - and the room was very comfortable and clean - would definitely stay here again - very many thanks - Larisa & Paul Warren-Smith

Our room was situated on the upper floor, there’s a side entrance to the rooms right next to the pub restaurant. The room was lovely and cosy, towels were neatly rolled and placed on the bed for guests to use. Shampoo and shower gel were all provided. Breakfast was also included in our stay as well. The New Forest Inn all day breakfast was fantastic!!! Very big portions, everything comes in double. Dinner at the restaurant was also delicious! Must try out their lamb dishes. We had a pleasant stay at the New Forest Inn and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for accommodations in the area.

Lovely stay in one of the smaller, cosy doubles. Room nicely decorated and the whole pub had a really nice, cosy vibe. Food was great, always such a wide menu with large portions. Good ale and wine selection too.

The whole experience was top quality from the moment we stepped in, beer selection in the bar was excellent (something for everyone) the room was super clean and cosy with everything you needed (shower was superb) bed was super comfy as well!! We also dined there in the evening with a great and varied choice on offer!!! Big up to the chef as the food was top quality. We will definitely be returning soon even if it’s just to dine out!!!

Spent 2 days at the Forest Inn. I can throughly recommend this place. The rooms were clean & comfortable. Its a good place to stay to explore the New Forest We had dinner in the restaurant & the food was excellent, the breakfast were also excellent. The staff are polite, & nothing was too much trouble Have already booked to go back in the spring.

If you are staying up the steep stairs on the right. Let the kitchen staff know you are staying and ask them to quieten it down. The noise was unbelievable until well past 11pm. It then started again at 4am with someone loading a van. Ruined the stay really. We had a meal which was great and the restaurant’s staff were brill.

Pros: Good location. Great breakfast. Friendly staff. Spotless room with nice refreshments. Cons: Parking very limited. Roller blind missing from glass room door, so not very private. Room was smaller than expected and very hot despite fan provided. Soap in bathroom would be nice.
