The Hermitage Inn is a wonderful place to stay. It's very much an Inn feel and not a hotel feel. The front desk is always staffed and there is coffee available until 9pm. Breakfast is small but plentiful and available til 9am. There are fridges in the rooms but also a microwave in the lobby that you can use anytime. There is also a water bottle refill station and ice machine nearby. The room is modern, clean, and comfortable. I had a great two night stay at the Hermitage Inn.

Customer service was excellent. Grab and Go items (complimentary) was wonderful, especially after a 5-hour drive. Beautiful scenery. Nice small town. Room was very clean. WiFi service was strong.

The Staff is great and always helpful. The hotel itself is gorgeous and has been redone recently to be more modern. In doing so they e really elevated the Petersburg WV experience. Great room sizes with beautiful white linens. The pillows are great, furniture in rooms are nice. We stayed in a room with a walk-in shower pan and a shower curtain, no big deal until I go to shower, somehow the shower curtain blocked a drain or was wicking water out, but it definitely got water in the floor from a regular short shower. Had to clean it up. Not a big deal but the execution here could be better to help keep the hotel up. I was worried about damages if you didn't notice and flood the whole floor. Rooms are 'sound proof's but that doesn't include the doors- was not a problem but when we were leaving in the morning our door slammed by accident and it can be loud. The negatives are short: Price- the rooms aren't crazy expensive, but you're pricing level with Hilton, Marriott, Etc and it is definitely the best place I've seen/stayed in Petersburg, but there was no fitness facility, pool, they offer a Continental breakfast, but maybe on weekends offer a hot breakfast from the cafe in town.

Disappointing stay. The Inn is modern and the room was spacious and comfortable, however a couple of the pillows had some dirt marks (luckily there were some spare that looked clean), and the floor although it looked clean, we realised the following morning that it probably hadn't been mopped regularly as our feet were quite dirty after having taken a shower and walking around the room. There were some incredibly noisy guests who checked in past midnight, and kept going in and out of their rooms, slamming doors and talking loudly for at least an hour. As some previous comments have mentioned, the Taphouse was not open when we were there, which had been one of the main reasons for us booking the Hermitage Inn - so this was quite disappointing.

Clean and comfortable and well appointed. They have done a fabulous job with the remodel. It's in a very walkable area with an excellent coffee shop called The Grove down the street. Petersburg is a fabulous town.

Fabulous place.. the place is new and upscale decor. Our room was very spacious exceptionally clean. Beds were very comfortable and love the pillows. The rooms are sleek and well decorated. Quiet and walkable town to restaurants and shopping. Town has been updating the center and making great changes.

Newly renovated and beautiful. Very comfortable. Front desk folks were warm and friendly. The room/bathroom was clean except for our floors had obviously not been mopped which was a turn off considering we have small children who are all over the floors. Would still stay again but would have had housekeeping drop by. Tap house wasn’t open yet but plans to be in the next month or so. Had booked thinking it was open but it’s not quite ready. Breakfast was prepackaged pastries, yogurt, juice, coffee/tea, bagels/English muffins and packaged oatmeal. Would stay again.

The rooms were super clean and modern. The deluxe suite had a full kitchenette which was excellent for a family. There was even a stovetop and pots, which was unexpected. There wasn't much silverware or plates, however. The rooms were spacious and had nice bedding. It was very comfortable, especially after a day of skiing.

The place was nice enough, and I'd certainly stay here again. The comfortable bed and nice size mini-fridge were Pros. The big Con was they had terrible curtains that did nothing to help stop the blinding exterior lights coming into the room. I literally rigged up my own curtain system using the bed comforter to kill the light.

Back in town to take care of some family business, just needed a nice place to rest for the night. This place is definitely worth the money. The lobby is in the back/main building. The restaurant and Taphouse as well as some suites are up front. We were in a room on the front of the building, plenty of light. The curtains were mid-alright. The flooring was nice, the main room was vinyl floor with an area rug. Plenty of space, nice little area for a fridge and sink. No microwave in room, so if you’re wanting to reheat leftovers you have to go downstairs. The bathroom was nicely done and well appointed. Plenty of linens, well lit.

The hotel is updated very nicely and even though we were staying in room 104 not far from the front desk it was a very quiet stay. The bathroom, fixtures, flooring and furnishings were very nice and modern. I really loved the lamps/light fixtures as they gave a good amount of light but weren’t your standard hotel lighting. The taproom looks like it’ll be so cool but as they’re waiting to find a partner to run it, it remains closed for the time being. Breakfast leaves a lot to be desired and there aren’t great options for gluten free folks such as myself. Hopefully that can be remedied when the taproom is opened. I would absolutely stay again though!

The pictures of the rooms on the website are only from the newer building - I believe. We stayed in the older building but the rooms are nice except the bathroom is very small and too tight. Especially the shower room is so small there is no room to move. Overall, I like the place and coming back.

Very friendly and clean place. Some downs sides is the soundproofing. I could hear all the doors closing and it echoes loud. The water pressure in our room wasnt good no matter the setting. The restaurant not being open is also a draw back, because there are not many options for food unless you want to drive a bit. All things considered i still had a nice time and will be back if or when they open the restaurant.

It was clean, comfortable and fully renovated. Great price. Only dislike was light shining in from parking lot and under the door to the hallway all night. Definetly needs some blinds and heavier curtains. I would definitely stay there again though.

Nice, smallish room with everything you'd expect, but with no dresser or such. One night would be OK to live out of a suitcase, but for a longer stay it would be a pain. The "Taphouse" isn't open, but there are several close places for a decent dinner or breakfast.

I stayed 5/31 with a request on 6/1 for management to contact me regarding a major issue. Check on was a pleasure with you front desk clerk and Lizzy tue next morning was fantastic while taking note of the issue that would be given to management. I followed up a couple of days later for a response from management that did not happen. The Inn does their hotel laundry all night long. Rooms on the first floor of this small inn hear the noise and feel the vibrations of the hotel laundry. Lizzy let me know when there's guests staying in those rooms the laundry should t be going after 10:30. That is FALSE. It was going and provided a terrible night stay. What makes it worse is thet management ignores their customers. Due to these factors I will not be able to recommend this establishment to other individuals or my corporate connections when we travel. So disappointing as I was really hoping it would have been a positive experience as I was hoping for. I know you can do better.

Despite rooms looking cute and day-shift receptionist being extra nice and going extra mile to help us with late dining options, we got zero sleep and rest at this Inn. Maybe staff is not aware that this beautiful historic building has paper thin walls and you hear everything (!) on the whole floor: all night partying neighbors, ice making machine (that was suppose to be turned off 10pm-6am and they didn't, so partying guests were using it every 30min to refresh their drinks), night-shift receptionist talking, laughing with her co-worker full volume until 3am,- until asked to please understand that some of us are traveling and we need our sleep. Basically, it's a place for young crowd not for families or people that need an actual rest.

We stayed here on the way to Timberline Skiing on the way from DC. Its was just for a quick stop over so just needed somewhere clean, quiet and relaxing for a good nights sleep. This fit the bill perfectly and reasonably priced. Tap House is closed currently FYI (Feb 2024) but there are other food options around.

We were very impressed by The Hermitage Inn and Taphouse. The new owners (since 2021) have done a great job restoring and updating this historic property. The main building dates to 1840! It’s on the National Register of Historic Properties. The update has a modern flair that incorporates elements from the building’s past. Example: in the lobby of the Taphouse, there is a blowup of the price list from 1942. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We’re going back when we visit the area for more hiking this fall!

We were very disappointed that the Tap House wasn't open. It was one of the main reasons we booked at The Hermitage. However, the room was very comfy and stylish. Nice shower in the bathroom, although it could use another towel hanger in the bathroom.
