My stay was okay, unfortunately there were a few things that mean I can’t give a higher rating. Firstly, the locker in my room was broken. Only two of the four had a working lock and were in use. Also, the safe in my bunk area was broken. As there are no on site staff, there was nobody to speak to. I contacted the hostel via email, they apologised and said they’d send a handyman that never came. This meant I had nowhere to secure any of my belongings, so I had to carry them around all day in my backpack which was not ideal. Also, I had bugs (not bedbugs) in my bed which isn’t great, the pillow case was tatty and torn and the towel maybe hadn’t been washed and aired properly as it didn’t smell fresh. Another big problem is that the beds are all connected in a weird way which means when someone moves above you all four beds move and it’s really loud and not great for a good sleep, if you don’t have ear plugs. Some positives were that the bunk had a curtain which gave some privacy, the bed was comfortable and the kitchen was clean and equipped well with a fridge and kettle etc. the shower was great, clean and good water pressure. On my second night I had the room to myself which meant I slept very, very well. The area around the hostel isn’t the nicest, being close to the main station, it’s run down. The walk to the town centre though is not long and you’re 15-20 min walk to most of the main sites, bars, restaurants etc.

Basic hostel with double rooms for privacy. No reception but not a problem. Very close to station but nit noisy. Reasonable value for location.

The positives are many: the room is beautiful, the beds have curtains, the location is excellent, it is clean, there is a microwave, and it is cheap. Nonetheless, there are also some negatives: The beds are attached, so every time someone moves, the entire block can feel it. In another room, people were checking out early because of bedbugs. The bed is okayish, but not super comfortable. There is no cooking top. Checking in without a reception is a nightmare; everyone I spoke to was complaining about it. Overall, it was good because I was in a 4-person room. However, if I were in room number 6 (the one with bedbugs), it would probably have ruined my time in Brno. I hope management can find a solution for that.
