Oak Mead

We had a lovely stay at Oak Mead. All the essential amenities were provided, such as kettle, toaster, mini fridge, iron etc. The view was absolutely stunning. We loved seeing the horse across the field in the morning and we even had a visit from the heron. Parking was plentiful and, even though there are two other holiday properties on site, our space felt private. The decor was tasteful. The host met us on arrival and was pleasant, but gave us our space, which we appreciated. Bed linen was crisp and clean and we noticed the duvet and pillows were feather filled, which we love. The key was located in an easy to use key safe and there was a helpful guest book with WiFi and local information. We'd certainly stay again, but we do just want to note that we'd have appreciated a more comfortable bed & sofa...both are quite springy, but we appreciate these items can be expensive to replace, especially when there are other properties to maintain. As other reviews point out, the walls are pretty thin, so we could hear that we weren't the only guests, although this didn't really bother us. Other than that, we'd recommend a deep clean. Don't get me wrong, the overall cleanliness was totally fine, but there were alot of cobwebs that could've easily been swept away with a stick duster, and the seals around the shower could do with replacing. The carpet was in good condition, but we did notice a few marks & some pesky carpet beetles, so perhaps this could do with a wet vac.

The Oakmead room was spotlessly clean, I dropped a pen under the bed and there was not a speck of dust to be seen when I crawled under to pick it up! The bed was very comfortable, the furnishings lovely especially the pretty blind and curtains. Menna gave us a jug of fresh milk when she welcomed us on arrival. The view from the big windows/doors is beautiful and it’s just a shame that the weather was wet as our breakfast coffee on the terrace would have been perfect! We were able to park right next to our room which had its own entrance via the glass doors. Although the house is next to a road there’s hardly any traffic going past, it was so quiet and peaceful-absolutely recommended.

Despite the snow and zero temperatures the accommodation was cosy and warm! Everything you needed was catered for. My partner is disabled and the accessibility to and throughout the property was excellent! A shower chair would have made it perfect though. The cleanliness was outstanding, Everything was clean and fresh. Would recommend for a peaceful retreat which was what we were.looking for. Look forward to revisiting later in the year and recommend to anyone liking the quiet life.

Lovely little spot in the countryside. We had a long drive that day and it was a great location to recuperate. It was nice to hear just the birds for a while. The accommodations were clean. The bed was a little on the soft side, but everyone has deferent preferences.

Arrived and left without meeting the owners but a lively household and dog were just the other side of the door and a wee mouse for company in the room. The smell of bleach was overwhelming on arrival and I was pleased to have my own towels as those provided were very rough. The mini fridge was noisy through the night revving up with regularity but useful to have in order to self cater evening meal and breakfast with help of mini micro and kettle. As an overnight stop it was very adequate and good value, especially as a lone traveller. I would consider using again in full knowledge of the setting - if they'd have me back!

All good. Clean and comfortable. If I had to give one negative the towels were a bit rough.

Absolutely beautiful place to stay, my partner and I had one of the balcony rooms and it was lovely; very clean and well kept, we were provided with a kettle as well as tea, coffee and biscuits which was a nice surprise! We had a problem accessing the room initially but the host was incredibly helpful when we called and everything was sorted! One thing I would say is it’s down a lot of narrow country roads, so be careful of the weather (we got into a bit of trouble with flooding on the way out) but apart from that I have nothing bad to say.

Me and my partner stayed in the traditional coach house for two nights, and honestly the photos don’t do it justice. It’s such a beautiful, full of character, cozy and peaceful place to stay. The views from the windows are a lovely thing to wake up to in the morning. It had everything we needed utensils wise as it was self catering so we brought our own food. As we were having a nosey round we found a book with everything in that we needed such as the wifi and things to do in the area, we also found a cupboard with some books and board games in which was great fun! The only thing we found was that the double bed in the master bedroom is a bit noisy and squeaky which is a little annoying when you move around a lot in your sleep, but the sheets were beautifully soft so it’s swings and round a bouts. In the field opposite there were 1 to 2 horses throughout our stay and I love animals so this was a real treat to be able to see and watch them. We will definitely be staying again!

Absolutely stunning stay! This place is so peaceful and really allows you to ‘switch off’. The cottage was lovely, very spacious and homely. The only niggle we would have to mention would be the bed which wasn’t very comfortable at all (sorry) and good luck if you’re taller than 5’9! Other than that everything was really lovely and would definitely recommend. We would love to visit again if the bed was replaced for one that was bigger and more comfortable 😊

Lovely spacious apartment, tastefully furnished with the added bonus of a balcony. Scenic area with lots of places to visit close by.

We stayed in the Coach House and what wonderful place to stay. The views are lovely. Watching and interacting with the four horses that are in an enclosed field right next to the apartment was lovely. The apartment is a converted coach house and has loads of character. It's open plan, airy and roomy and has everything available if you want to cook yourself, and it also has a log burner. There's some lovely pubs/ restaurants nearby, our favourite being the Dog & Pickle. Excellent WiFi too.

The host greeted us on arrival and was very welcoming and friendly; assuring us that if we needed anything further to let her know. It was very well equipped: fridge, kettle, microwave and toaster, not forgetting a jug of fresh milk. Would definitely stay here again.

Great location. Nice and clean. Lots of space. Great wet room, only one suggestion to make and that’s another wire rack shelf in the oven. There’s only one so limits the amount of food you can cook at one time in the oven. Other than that suggestion it was a great place to stay. Highly recommended. Host was a delight and greeted us upon arrival.

Very peaceful place. Host Menna is very welcoming us and kindly offer us a small jar of fresh milk for us able to make cups of teas after our long journey. Bed is very comfortable.

Room ready and waiting. When we had a problem with cooker timer owner arranged an immediate visit by electrician...on bank holiday! Owner was most approachable and helpful. We will return...again, asthiswas third visit.

Everything sorted when we arrived. When we had a problem with cooker timer host arranged for an electrician to check asap…on a bank holiday weekend. Hosts very welcoming. Although ‘no housekeeping’ is stated this is the second time we have stayed for more than a week and sheets. And towels have been changed.

A very nice room with patio doors looking out onto countryside. Comfy bed, handy fridge / toaster / kettle with a sofa to relax on. My fewer stars on the staff/service is not a criticism but a reflection on the fact that I didn't actually meet anyone! Received an informative email before arrival and the key was in a lock box so there was no personal interaction needed.

Stayed for a four night break, didn't want to leave. Friendly staff and well looked after, then properties we stayed in are outstanding, well decorated, comfy and well furnished. Can't wait to visit again, highly recommend.

Secluded and quite property, Ideally you need a car. Very friendly Landlady, polite and hospitable. Comfortable distance from the Chester Business Park. Fast WiFi Internet. Close to everything but not too close for comfort.

Lovely room in a rural location, with a beautiful view. Basic tea/ coffee / toiletries provided. Very good value and comfortable.

If you are looking for a place to stay that is quite and clean, This an excellent choice as long as you have a car. Without a car it will be challenging as its on a farm. Fast Internet. Very comfortable and clean bed. It's really very nice.
