Teanehi Bed & Breakfast

Teanehi is not a hotel with a restaurant, as described here, and English is not spoken by any of the staff, so communication may be a challenge. It is, however, a wonderful B&B, that provides a great breakfast buffet, and is run by one of the most helpful and pleasant women on the island. Even with these minor issues, I would not hesitate to return to Teanehi on my next trip to Rapa Nui.

Nice clean basic room with adequate breakfast. Bit of a walk into the town and there is nothing else close by. WiFi is OK. Shower is difficult to maintain heat and we had a power cut for a couple of hours although I believe this was Island wide so not the hotels fault. Payment terminal was playing up on departure so it took nearly an hour to sort that out

Parking and AC available. Original structure seems like a large home converted into rental rooms. Four rooms upstairs; 2 share nice balcony with some ocean view. Possiby 2 rooms downstairs with common area lounge. No staff available except for room cleaner that comes in, and (friendly) Odette (property mgr) to check you in/out. No telephone in room, so staff available only through WhatsApp. Property is located away from central Hanga Roa restaurants/market; accessible only by car, Taxi, walk. Includes breakfast of instant coffee, juice, fruits, breads, cold cuts, cheese, yogurt, cereal. No eggs. Easy walk to Moai and sunset @ Tehay. Lots of loose dogs on RapaNui, even in restaurants. Barking kept us up some nights in adjacent residential area. Not many speak/understand English, so it's great if you speak the language or have a great app. Odette can help you set up tours.

The hotel staff/service will welcome you when you arrive at the airport, offer you a beautiful garland, and take you to the hotel. The property is located off the center, where you need to rent a car or ATV, which the hotel also offers for a reasonable price. The hotel is clean, peaceful, and surrounded by beautiful trees and flowers, welcoming you when you arrive. A free delicious breakfast was offered, and a ride back to the airport was also offered. Overall, it was a memorable and beautiful experience.

-Host provided airport transfer & very helpful in arranging a day tour for us. -Comfortable room w/ air conditioning ( a must) & daily housekeeping service but bathroom we’re at a room that has a mild sewer smell, no screen to prevent bugs coming in - excellent complementary breakfast - Location is approximately a 30 minute walk to town

Pros: Clean and Spacious rooms Very safe location Good breakfast - Bread, jam, butter, fresh juices, fruits, marmalade, and some meats. Not a lot of variety but, the quality is good Good and helpful staff Good water pressure. You get hot water as well. Cons: We couldn't find a water filter to fill our water bottles, nor we got any water bottles in our room.

The property was good value for the money. The staff were very helpful. The rooms were clean and the property well maintained. Ed had a great sea view and watched lovely sunsets from our room balcony. The only reason not giving a 5 is because hard to communicate with the 2 staff available. Very little English. Also the room could have a closet with a few hangers - that bothered my husband and found iy inconvenient. There was also no one to help/guide with dining options

We stayed at Hotel Teanehi and wished we didn’t. We would definitely not stay again. For £184 for two nights, it was an absolute joke. Cons - The lady who runs the joint does not care about you in the slightest as a customer. She shows you to your room and then leaves the property. It’s an absolute joke. - Our room had damp and mound growing up the wall which made all our clothes stink and our lungs hurt. - There are mosquitos in the rooms and you’ll get bitten. As mentioned before, the lady is nowhere to be found so you can’t ask for bug spray. - They say they offer laundry facilities. They do not. - The towels are disgusting and stained and the bathroom so cold and damp that nothing dries. They do not bring new dry towels either. - The breakfast is super basic. - There is not a restaurant. - Overall it felt very grubby. Pros - The employees who clean and prepare breakfast (locals) are lovely! - Transfer to and from hotel (included).

The property is about a 15 minute walk from most restaurants but is worth staying there. The grounds are nice and the breakfast was very good. The room was spacious and clean with a good sunset view. Odette, who works there, was a most charming host and really helped us with everything we needed. Great place to stay.

Odette is the hostess/manager every hotel should have! She made us feel at home and was tireless on making sure we were having a great time and going way beyond her duties - she was lovely, caring and an impressive professional running the sweetest and most charming hotel in Easter Island. Her knowledge of the island and well connectedness got us the best deals for tours and rentals. The place itself is beautifully decorated, comfortable and immaculately clean - the room service lady made sure our room was always clean and the beds were so well made that it felt like fresh sheets everyday. It felt and smelled clean throughout the entire place - I could actually see my reflection on the floor! Breakfast was always delicious and with high-quality products on offer. Yummy every single time! The only drawback I can think of is the location as it’s a little bit far from town but I saw it as a positive as the only thing we heard were crickets at night and birds in the morning! I understand this reads too positive but in true honesty, 5 stars ( and I’m very picky)!

El hotel, que s una casa adaptada, está en buenas condiciones pero un poco lejos de Hanga Roa. El principal problema que tuvimos fue el baño que olía muy mal y es viejo. El agua de la regadera o era muy caliente o muy fria no habia manera de modularla para que saliera tibia. Otro asunto desconcertante fue que nos pidieron que abandonaramos la habitación antes de la hora establecida para el check out porque iban a recibir a otros clientes.

The hotel was relatively new and the room was very clean and well maintained. Breakfast was not fancy but adequate. The location of the hotel is far away from the main street so it's better to have own vehicle. It's very dark on the Island and it's impossible to walk after sun set. Our internet was out completely for more than a day. Unfortunately the manager wasn't there to solve the problem. They need more staff at the location. The owner of the hotel is very nice and sweet. She doesn't speak any English. Thank goodness that we have Google translation now.

The bathroom is separate from sleeping area, very inconvenient. It doesn’t have place to hang cloths or cloth hanger. Breakfast is very simple, two eggs per person allowance, little far fro the down and 30 minutes, would stay close to the town next time.

The greeting at the airport with a lei by Odette was a wonderful touch. she is like the mother hen at the hotel and was constantly making sure that all was well with my visit. The view of the ocean was great.

This lovely B&B was the ideal accommodation on Easter Island. The friendly host will pick you up at the airport with flowers and give you a quick tour of the town. The room was large, clean and comfortable with ocean view — perfect for just relaxing and letting "island time" tick away. There was an AC unit, but the ocean breezes were our preferred air conditioning. You can easily walk to the coast with moai’s to gaze at the sunset. It’s a further walk to town center, but that gives your more opportunity to let time tick away.

Very nice staff. Appreciated the airport transfers. Room was big and comfortable.

This a wonderful small hotel that is very welcoming and peaceful. The wrap around balcony offers one a nice spot to seat with views of the ocean from certain points. Odette is very friendly and helpful. The only downside is that it’s about a half hour walk into town and we were advised to take taxis back once it was dark out.

Lovely stay on Easter Island. Very simple but beautiful hotel. Simple breakfast. WiFi was very spotty. A little further walk to town but an easy walk.

The owner of the hotel allowed us to do the late check out so that we can stay in room or even walk out to do more sightseeing until she came to send us to airport in the afternoon.

We liked everything about this property! Odette met us at the airport, arranged tours for us, gave me a number for a taxi and showed us around the town. She is great! You can walk to town but it is a bit far and sometimes it’s hard to get a taxi if you are dining late. That is the only downside to this location. It’s about a 20 minute walk to the best restaurant which is doable!

Overall excellent experience here. Nice homely lodge, within 15-20 mins walk to main area. Safe. The host Odette is so nice and friendly and really helpful! Helped organise absolutely everything, which is a huge help!

Very nice hotel with super breakfast. Odette is extremely helpful. We went early morning sunrise photography, hotel packed the breakfast for us. I must say it is the best take away breakfast I ever received. Every detail is taken care of. Appreciate it so much.

Nos encantó estar en el Hotel Teanehi. Todos fueron sumamente amables y nos ayudaron mucho con los tour y dudas que teniamos. Nos esperado en el aeropuerto y nos dejaron al irnos. El desayuno muuuy rico y los cuartos muy cómodos. Muy recomendado.

Pros: The room was spacious and the view was very nice. Comfortable bed. Cons: The staff doesn't care about the guests at all. I had some questions (about my room key, services advertised by the hotel, etc) and the responsible person just told me that she didn't know how any of that worked and that I had to find out on my own. Even worse: at some point the running water service was cut. After several hours with this situation the staff just said that water shortages in the island were common and that she could do nothing for us, nor should we expect a solution from her. If it is really the case that water shortages are common in the island, the hotel should: a) warn the guests about it b) take preventive measure and save some water for the guests, and for the essentials, at the very minimum. A cistern would be an appropriate solution to his. Instead, the staff's response was total indifference. They charge a full rate, but if you have any issues with the service, you're on your own. Also, when we did have running water, no hot water whatsoever, the shower was freezing cold. The closet was dirty and its drawers just didn't work. The room was poorly lit. Towels were stained and dated. The breakfast had very limited choices. Definitely not worth the price and definitely they should train their staff appropriately.

The “hotel” is a house with few amenities. Despite the listing, it does not offer a restaurant. The staff, while very pleasant, are unable to communicate beyond very basic English (Hello, check-out, etc.) should you not speak fluent Spanish. It is quite far from Hanga Roa, and the walk at night, via muddy roads, is fairly dangerous with speeding motorists passing constantly. (At night, the nearby park, which is the easiest route to access the island’s dining and shopping area, closes and one must take a very circuitous route through dark back roads to transit back and forth. If you are able to rent a car or motorbike, this is a non-issue.) Should you choose to stay here, I recommend that you not bring ANY food with you. It really can’t be helped, but there are some bugs. With that being said, this accommodation is cheaper than places closer to the sites, and it is a clear step up from hostels and camp sites. The cleaning staff does a great job keeping the house tidy. Transfer to and from the airport was very well-managed.

The balcony view is nice. Breakfast was great! I would say that if you enjoy walking, this is the stay for you. It’s about a 20 minute from the Downtown area so if you don’t rent a car, you’re either walking or using a bike

The room, the breakfast and the staff are great! However, the hotel is a bit out of the way. There's nothing around it, not even a convenience store. It took us about 25 minutes to walk to the nearest store.

Solo recomiendo que renten un carro o una moto porque la calle principal (donde están la mayoría de restaurantes y tiendas) si esta algo retirada del Hotel.

Excellent little hotel. Very good breakfast.

Very peaceful and a short distance to the nearest Moai for sunset. Slightly further to town but we don't mind that at all. Breakfast was great, probably best in 4 months in south America. Lovely people.

Odette and her staff were excellent. Breakfast was terrific… fresh fruit juice and fruit plus option to have custom ordered eggs. Greeted with a floral lei plus shell lei when leaving. It is about 25 minutes or a quick taxi ride to town for only 5000 Chilean pesos. Would recommend.
