Ecolodge dans un très bel environnement au cœur de la forêt luxuriante. Calme, bon petit-déjeuner varié. Cuisine commune vaste et bien équipée. En plus nous avons été surclassés, ce qui est toujours appréciable. Chambres grandes et très propres, comme tout le complexe. Superbe séjour, nous recommandons à 1000 %.

The setting is lovely with beautiful trails and riverside-views. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, setting up tours and answering questions. The food was top notch with great plant-forward options. The riverside room had AC which was an added perk. Although the room itself was fairly basic, it was very clean and met our needs to be able to enjoy the surroundings.

We loved this place, despite the rain, and the fact that it had no air conditioning. It would have been nice, but there was a ceiling fan, and an oscillating stand up fan. The only downside, was the parking was about a 8 minute walk, out of the room down a path, across a bridge and up a small hill.

So wonderful to come back to this magical place. Thanks to Emmanuel, Davis and Arlin, who guided me, scheduled events, they even got me a great ride back to the airport with Henry (at 4:30 AM -- thanks Denis and Davis!) who became my tour guide as we drove in the early morning via the scenic La Virgin pathway. At the resort, wonderful jungle trails, birds-- green macaws, parrots, kingfishers,--- colors and birdsong, river scenes, forest-bathing, Lots of jungle and river activities. While staying there, everyone was very cheerful, helpful and friendly. Eleodoro introduced me to his local family. A cooking class with extended family shared their personal knowledge of Costa Rica's past days. I learned the most ways to eat chocolate during the chocolate tour. Wish I knew everyone else's names to thank them all -- Sergio who knows about all those mushrooms, Dona Maria who enhanced my headgear, Liz and Bianca and the housekeeping team, Ulysses who escorted me in rain, Aidan assisting in every way... Chilimate a magical place!

Staff is fabulous, super friendly and helpful. Liked the breakfast and home cooked dinner. The covered walk ways and ubiquity if provided umbrellas are great when it's pouring buckets. Nice touch to provide rubber boots for forest walking. The walls between some rooms are super thin which can be annoying with noisy neighbors.

This was an inexpensive option for our family to stay in Sarapiqui. The property is interesting because of the covered pathways and proximity to two miles of rainforest trails, and we spied frogs, howler monkeys, iguana, caterpillars, etc. Breakfast was wonderful. There is no air conditioning or hot water, which was fine for us. Wet clothes will take a looooong time to hang dry. We are a family of 6, and I thought from photos that we would likely have a room with bunk beds. Instead we were given two rooms, and that worked for us.

Hotel en plein milieu de la nature, d'ailleurs on se gare à l'extérieur (mais parking sécurisé) et on y arrive à pieds avec une brouette pour porter les bagages. Diner sous forme de buffet (pas énorme mais suffisant). Petit dej correct.

We had a warm welcome from the moment we arrived , with clear instructions prior to arrival as well. The breakfast as mentioned in previous reviews was the best that we have had in Costa Rica and likewise we were treated to a wonderful home cooked three course meal at a very reasonable price. We loved the peaceful surroundings with nature on the doorstep including trails into the forest. We loved our stay and just wish we had planned to stay longer.

This is very good value accommodation in a beautiful setting. Our room was simple but very clean. The staff were friendly and the home cooked diner and breakfast were good. The owners work closely to support the local community and so it feels really nice to stay here and support their great work.

Chilamate was cheaper than some of the other places we stayed and we loved the location in the rainforest. Plus the night walk we did was exceptional and the rafting guide they recommended was really good. The lodge we felt was a bit run down and our room not that welcoming (stained sheets, very dark) although maybe ok for the cost. The evening meal was also expensive vs local restaurants. In short, amazing location but don’t expect luxury.

Mooie locatie met een geweldige tuin, waar de natuur volop aanwezig is (flora én fauna). Uitstekende service; zo mochten we wat langer na uitcheck-tijd op de kamer blijven om te douchen na het raften. Super! Aardig personeel en prima eten. Prima prijs-kwaliteitverhouding. Onze kamer was wat gedateerd, maar dat was geen probleem en hij was bovendien ruim en met prachtig uitzicht.

There is no air conditioning or hot water, which was fine for us. Wet clothes will take a looooong time to hang dry. We are a family of 6, and I thought from photos that we would likely have a room with bunk beds. Instead we were given two rooms, and that worked for us.

This was an inexpensive option for our family to stay in Sarapiqui. The property is interesting because of the covered pathways and proximity to two miles of rainforest trails, and we spied frogs, howler monkeys, iguana, caterpillars, etc. Breakfast was wonderful. The setting is lovely with beautiful trails and riverside-views. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, setting up tours and answering questions. The food was top notch with great plant-forward options. The riverside room had AC which was an added perk. Although the room itself was fairly basic, it was very clean and met our needs to be able to enjoy the surroundings.

So wonderful to come back to this magical place. Thanks to Emmanuel, Davis and Arlin, who guided me, scheduled events, they even got me a great ride back to the airport with Henry (at 4:30 AM -- thanks Denis and Davis!) who became my tour guide as we drove in the early morning via the scenic La Virgin pathway. At the resort, wonderful jungle trails, birds-- green macaws, parrots, kingfishers,--- colors and birdsong, river scenes, forest-bathing, Lots of jungle and river activities. While staying there, everyone was very cheerful, helpful and friendly. Eleodoro introduced me to his local family. A cooking class with extended family shared their personal knowledge of Costa Rica's past days. I learned the most ways to eat chocolate during the chocolate tour. Wish I knew everyone else's names to thank them all -- Sergio who knows about all those mushrooms, Dona Maria who enhanced my headgear, Liz and Bianca and the housekeeping team, Ulysses who escorted me in rain, Aidan assisting in every way... Chilimate a magical place!

Mooie locatie met een geweldige tuin, waar de natuur volop aanwezig is (flora én fauna). Uitstekende service; zo mochten we wat langer na uitcheck-tijd op de kamer blijven om te douchen na het raften. Super! Aardig personeel en prima eten. Prima prijs-kwaliteitverhouding. Onze kamer was wat gedateerd, maar dat was geen probleem en hij was bovendien ruim en met prachtig uitzicht.

Lovey eco lodge really working with the environment. Fabulous staff, couldn’t do enough for you. Lovely breakfasts, healthy locally sourced dinner buffet and tea and coffee all day long. Tours on offer were great too- we did the bird walk and saw so much that we would have missed! Rafting with Rios fabulous. Yes the rooms are a little basic but all in keeping with the ethos of the place. You will not be disappointed!

We had a warm welcome from the moment we arrived , with clear instructions prior to arrival as well. The breakfast as mentioned in previous reviews was the best that we have had in Costa Rica and likewise we were treated to a wonderful home cooked three course meal at a very reasonable price. We loved the peaceful surroundings with nature on the doorstep including trails into the forest. We loved our stay and just wish we had planned to stay longer.

We loved this place, despite the rain, and the fact that it had no air conditioning. It would have been nice, but there was a ceiling fan, and an oscillating stand up fan. The only downside, was the parking was about a 8 minute walk, out of the room down a path, across a bridge and up a small hill.

This is very good value accommodation in a beautiful setting. Our room was simple but very clean. The staff were friendly and the home cooked diner and breakfast were good. The owners work closely to support the local community and so it feels really nice to stay here and support their great work.

Chilamate was cheaper than some of the other places we stayed and we loved the location in the rainforest. Plus the night walk we did was exceptional and the rafting guide they recommended was really good. The lodge we felt was a bit run down and our room not that welcoming (stained sheets, very dark) although maybe ok for the cost. The evening meal was also expensive vs local restaurants. In short, amazing location but don’t expect luxury.

Beim Abendessen gab es ausschliesslich die Option eines Buffets, das diesen Namen jedoch kaum verdient. Die Auswahl war äusserst begrenzt – lediglich drei verschiedene Speisen standen zur Verfügung. Für ein derartiges Pseudo-Buffet 26 $ zu verlangen, halte ich für überzogen. Die Zimmer liegen etwa 300 Meter vom Restaurant, der Rezeption und dem Parkplatz entfernt, was alles ziemlich umständlich macht. Auch die Tierwelt vor Ort ist keineswegs besonders (ich bin Biologe und Wildtierfotograf). Beim Wegfahren wurde ich von der Polizei angehalten, da ein Verdacht bestand, dass ich illegalerweise Tiere bzw. Insekten aus dem Gebiet schmuggeln sollte. Entweder hat ein ignoranter Tourist sich beim Hotel beschwert oder einer der Angestellten hat etwas beobachtet und dann die Polizei informiert. Das fand ich eine absolute Unverschämtheit. Nach aussen hin wirkt alles freundlich und zuvorkommend, doch hinter dem Rücken wird die Polizei eingeschaltet. Das nennt mann Heuchelei "hipocresía". Selbstverständlich hat die Polizei in meinem Gepäck nichts gefunden. Ich arbeite und studiere Insekten seit über 30 Jahren und und muss mir von niemandem unbegründete Vorwürfe machen.

Stayed for two nights. Staff are very helpful and pleasant. The lodge is situated close to the river which is good for swimming and has it's own forest reserve. We did two very enjoyable guided walks on the reserve with local guides who were extremely knowledgeable. We stayed in the family room which was rather rustic but plenty big enough for a family of four. The main frustration was the cold shower which didn't get fixed despite reporting on the first day. Breakfast was good, dinner is an optional buffet and is not worth it.
