It was a nice stay for two days two rooms. They did not have our room category at check in. Then there was a key glitch and one room was changed to another on a different floor. All of this defeated the purpose of reserving adjoining superior King rooms and then ending up in double queen rooms on different floors. However without my asking they comp one room free! I was very surprised and satisfied. I can understand issues and changes but the comp was appreciated. They have breakfast each morning free. One night they had a free Italian buffer too. I really have no issues, the gym was nice and well stocked with machines and free weights. Towels and water provided. Easy access to Shadyside Ohio nursing home. We came for a visit. I would stay here again.

This hotel was very clean,very up to date. Staff was super friendly. Unfortunately the pool was out of order for our whole stay,which was not good considering we were out on bikes all day and wanted to refresh in the pool after a very hot day. Breakfast was good. We would stay here again.

We stayed here a couple of years ago when the hotel was almost brand new. It has been very well maintained. Still very clean and nice! Breakfast was amazing both days!! I’m The only disappointment with our stay was that the hot tub wasn’t working. But the pool was great!

Nice hotel. Great pool and hot tub access. Breakfast was very good and they made something for me that wasn't on the buffet at the time. We've stayed there a couple times now and it's been a great experience each time. Also the rooms are huge. Lots of space.

The property is obviously new and staff was great. The only issue I had was that both of the bed-spreads had stains on them. I believe they were laundered but obviously would leave anyone sketched out.

Beautiful hotel. Everything was clean and looked new. The bed was comfortable & our room had a gorgeous view of the sunset. The hot breakfast had all the typical items, and even my meat & potatoes husband liked the egg white veggie omelet. The girl at the front desk recommended a little place across the street for our late lunch on arrival & it was wonderful. If we come back to the area, we would definitely stay here again.

If you are in need of a hotel in the Moundsville area, you need to stay at the Holiday Inn Express Suites! It is probably the cleanest and best-appointed hotel in this price point. My husband and I are frequent Marriott guests, but our stay here has changed our minds. Emily was working the reception desk upon our check-in and she could not have been friendlier! She ensured our check-in went smoothly, and even called the room a few minutes after to make sure everything was to our standards, which it was. She gave us dinner recommendations and information about what to see in the area, all with a smile and warm professionalism. Our room was spacious and immaculate, with a comfortable king sized bed and a zero-entry shower. One of the touches we especially liked was the black-out shades covering the windows. We took full advantage of the hotel pool and hot tub, which were conveniently open 24 hours a day. The area was clean and towels were readily available. Breakfast service, which was included with our stay, started at 4am daily, and featured plenty of choices, including fresh fruit. At checkout, I spoke with Molly, the hotel manager and paid her our compliments. She was so nice and also pleased to hear we enjoyed our stay. If we are in the area in the future, we will definitely return to this hotel. We wouldn't even want to stay anywhere else!

The moment I arrived I was greeted by the most kind and vibracious woman I met I wish I would have remembered her name. She made my stay better without even knowing it. When I checked out I had the pleasure of meeting another wonderful woman. She also worked the front desk. Her name was Christy and I am a single mom and didn't want to take my son out in the pouring rain to load up my car. So without even asking she came over and sat with my son so I could load up the car. The fact that she did that out of the kindness of her heart made my entire day.

We had a very frustrating experience at this Holiday Inn. After an 8-hour drive, we were eager to check in and rest — but things went downhill quickly. The room we were assigned on the 5th floor couldn’t be accessed with the key cards provided. I had to make three separate trips between the 5th floor and the front desk, and each time, the receptionist reprogrammed the keys, asking me to try again. It never worked. Eventually, a staff member (I believe his name was C.J.) came up to check and confirmed the lock wasn’t functioning. He then spent a while trying to locate a tool to reset the lock instead of promptly offering a solution. After repeated requests, he finally assigned us a different room — 45 minutes later. We were also traveling as a group of six families and had requested rooms on the same floor so the kids could spend time together. We arrived around 4:30 PM and asked again at check-in. The front desk informed us that the hotel was fully booked and that nothing could be done — even though most guests hadn’t yet checked in. Despite being early, they refused to accommodate our request or prioritize our group. Lastly, breakfast was underwhelming. On both mornings, they ran out of basic items and no staff seemed available to restock or assist. Overall, it was a disappointing and poorly managed stay — definitely not the experience we expected from a Holiday Inn.

I checked in around 9:43 PM. The lady at the front desk had issues with the keys for two rooms on the fifth floor. When I went there with my two daughters, I discovered that both rooms had already been given to someone else. The staff member assigned us different rooms that had also been sold. She mentioned that almost all rooms were booked, and when I approached her again, she offered us another set of rooms but charged me for an extra room. When I requested a refund, she told me to wait until noon the next day, when her boss would be able to process it. After some back-and-forth, she insisted that I had to stay until 11 PM and even asked another employee about the refund. Additionally, she was yelling at her 17-year-old son on the phone, who was asking her for money. It was a scary night. I couldn't sleep peacefully because I kept worrying that someone might enter my room in the middle of the night, especially since they had made an excuse about a glitch in their system that prevented them from differentiating between sold and unsold rooms.

It was a nice stay for two days two rooms. They did not have our room category at check in. Then there was a key glitch and one room was changed to another on a different floor. All of this defeated the purpose of reserving adjoining superior King rooms and then ending up in double queen rooms on different floors. However without my asking they comp one room free! I was very surprised and satisfied. I can understand issues and changes but the comp was appreciated. They have breakfast each morning free. One night they had a free Italian buffer too. I really have no issues, the gym was nice and well stocked with machines and free weights. Towels and water provided. Easy access to Shadyside Ohio nursing home. We came for a visit. I would stay here again.

If you are in need of a hotel in the Moundsville area, you need to stay at the Holiday Inn Express Suites! It is probably the cleanest and best-appointed hotel in this price point. My husband and I are frequent Marriott guests, but our stay here has changed our minds. Emily was working the reception desk upon our check-in and she could not have been friendlier! She ensured our check-in went smoothly, and even called the room a few minutes after to make sure everything was to our standards, which it was. She gave us dinner recommendations and information about what to see in the area, all with a smile and warm professionalism. Our room was spacious and immaculate, with a comfortable king sized bed and a zero-entry shower. One of the touches we especially liked was the black-out shades covering the windows. We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was very clean and well maintained ~ many rooms looked modern and up to date. We stayed here while visiting the West Virginia Penitentiary in Moundsville. I was traveling with my husband and 15 month old daughter. We asked if the hotel store sold any milk to drink for her bedtime routine, and while they didn't, the front desk staff immediately went into the back and got us a cup. It may sound lile a small thing, but it saved us a trip back out after a long day on the road to buy some ourselves. This kind of hospitality was present through out our stay at the hotel. One staff member in particular, David, took the time to talk with us and made us feel incredibly welcome while we were there. The hotel also offers a complimentary dinner every Wednesday night, something which I've never seen before at other hotels. While we did not get to try it ourselves due to a picky toddler, it both looked and smelled delicious. This hotel was our favorite place we stayed at throughout our road trip through West Virginia. Would definitely recommend it as a place to stay and would stay there again if we are in the area.

Wonderful stay. Zero complaints, tons to rave about. We’re planning more trips to the Wheeling/Moundsville area and this will be our go-to hotel. Good price, good location, clean, very nice room with comfy beds and a nice shower. The staff were all very nice and helpful. The breakfast was tasty with a good variety. We had a very frustrating experience at this Holiday Inn. After an 8-hour drive, we were eager to check in and rest — but things went downhill quickly. The room we were assigned on the 5th floor couldn’t be accessed with the key cards provided. I had to make three separate trips between the 5th floor and the front desk, and each time, the receptionist reprogrammed the keys, asking me to try again. It never worked. Eventually, a staff member (I believe his name was C.J.) came up to check and confirmed the lock wasn’t functioning. He then spent a while trying to locate a tool to reset the lock instead of promptly offering a solution. After repeated requests, he finally assigned us a different room — 45 minutes later. We were also traveling as a group of six families and had requested rooms on the same floor so the kids could spend time together. We arrived around 4:30 PM and asked again at check-in. The front desk informed us that the hotel was fully booked and that nothing could be done — even though most guests hadn’t yet checked in. Despite being early, they refused to accommodate our request or prioritize our group. Lastly, breakfast was underwhelming. On both mornings, they ran out of basic items and no staff seemed available to restock or assist. Overall, it was a disappointing and poorly managed stay — definitely not the experience we expected from a Holiday Inn.

The property and room was amazing. Room service was also good. The only thing lacking was breakfast contents and the behavior of breakfast managing team. The bananas available were over ripped, completely black skin. When asked for better bananas, the staff gave attitude and was rude. Stay was great. The breakfast ended at 10:00 on Saturday and Sunday. Usually food is all gone long before 10:00 but staff kept the breakfast station filled and hot till a little after 10:00. I’m not a early riser so I don’t as very happy to eat a full hot breakfast for once at a motel! Thank you for a great stay.
