Service is really good. The inn is small and cosy with unlimited tea and coffee for guests. I really like the Japanese decor in the inn. The only downside is there is no noise proofing so you will hear every noise anyone makes. If you don't intend to sleep in, then it's not an issue. Nearby is the morihan tea square, a must - experience.

This is a lovely place to stay if you’re visiting Kyoto. There are two stations within a 15 minute walk, so traveling anywhere is quite easy. There is a kitchen so that you can cook (or in my case, warm up my conbini breakfast), as well as laundry. The staff is very kind and helpful. I really enjoyed staying here away from the hustle and bustle of Kyoto city.

シャワー&トイレ付きの部屋でしたが、テレビ、フロントへの連絡手段の電話はありません。リンスはありません。目覚ましもないので、スマホだけが頼りの宿泊になります。お茶コーヒーは飲み放題ですが、この部屋からは、急な階段を登り降りしないといけません。リピはないです。

We stayed in a traditional style room. The inn owners were very welcoming and responsive. If you are paying at hotel it is by cash only. The inn owner was kind enough to drive us to ATM. There is some road noise, bring earplugs and a eye mask. I had to wear both in any hotel we went to. Shower and bathroom are wonderful. Laundry is available for $3.00 a load. Very Handy. Not too far from train station and bus.

She let me leave my luggage ahead of checking time and even went through the checkin process and when I was back later everything was already done. The luggage was put into my room already when I was back from touring Uji. The room is super clean and comfortable. For anyone who loves to experience the traditional Japanese living style, but still enjoy the modern convenient bathroom facilities, this is a perfect choice,

住宿環境很乾淨（特別是旅館的毛巾令人印象深刻，一般民宿的毛巾常比較陳舊，但這間旅館的毛巾清潔得很乾淨，宛如全新的），周遭環境也很安靜。旅館在小巷子裡，不過如果有開車的話停車很方便，就在旅館對面有一小片空地可停車，收費600日圓/天。旅館老闆娘說中文，很親切。隔天想去餐廳用餐，請老闆娘幫忙訂位，老闆娘幫忙打了好幾通電話。入住當天有比較大的房間，老闆娘直接幫我們換到大房間，沒有額外收費。

近くにお茶屋さんが立ち並ぶ静かで穏やかな所です　お隣に椋の木の鎮守さまがあり翌朝お参りしました　宿のスタッフの皆さんはとても感じもよく、近辺のお店の場所などを丁寧に教えて下さり感謝です　こじんまりとした中でも館内はお洒落でお部屋も清潔な上、１人でも充分ゆったり過ごせましたが、ただ浴衣などは置いてありませんので必要な方は持参された方が良いかと思います　それ以外は気持ちのよい一時を頂けました

Uji Tea Inn, was a genuine experience of staying in a ryokan home. The receptionist Kassawa was very welcoming and helpful. Place was very clean. Although a little far from Kyoto centre, the area was quiet and safe.

We had a great stay, inn is located a bit away from the more touristy area of Uji which we enjoyed. Our room was immaculate and the host was extremely kind and welcoming. Would highly recommend.

It's an inn. Service was great even when we came too early for check in. We had to wait for someone to come by to help us with our luggage before we checked in. That was great. We got to explore Kyoto for a bit before we settled into our room. Nice and clean. Loved our first experience in a tatami mat sleeping area. Bathroom was amazing even though there is no soaking tub. Shower was fantastic. Far walk from subway if you have heavy luggage to roll and lug behind you. If that is not an issue, then you are good to stay here. The place had an old charm to it, but the room you may stay in is new and beautiful.

It was an absolutely amazing stay at Uji Tea Inn. The owners are really friendly and welcoming. It’s as if I was staying with a host family rather than an inn. Throughout my stay, I felt looked after which was great as I was travelling alone. And while it may not be luxurious as a hotel chain, I enjoyed my stay here more than any of the 3 star hotels I stayed at for the rest of my travels. The rooms are traditional tatami mat and futon. It may not be for everyone especially those used to springy or cushy beds but it is the traditional sleeping arrangement. I actually prefer futons as I found that the hotel rooms in Japan with western beds are way too small and I struggle to open my luggage. This inn used to be a machiya prior to renovation. The owners kept the essence of it in tact, so you get a mix of traditional architecture with modern day convenience. Renovations were only done shortly prior to covid so everything (toilets, showers) still looks new. That said, the rooms are not as sound proof as those in concrete buildings, but it is to be expected with traditional buildings. Do bring a pair of earplugs if you’re a light sleeper. Generally it’s quiet past 9pm and remains so until 6am when people start to wake up and get ready for the day. All in all, I highly recommend anyone looking to visit Uji to stay for a fuss-free, local experience. And if you need recommendations, the owners are always happy to chat. Thank you again, Hayashi-san and family!

Absolutely will be coming back here! Uji is such a beautiful small town with many hidden gems to discover. The staff were extremely accomodaing and easy to talk to, even with my broken Japanese! They were happy to tell me about the area, its history and key places to visit while I was there. Can't wait to come back next year and spend more time adventuring around this little gem ❤️

This is a lovely place to stay if you’re visiting Kyoto. There are two stations within a 15 minute walk, so traveling anywhere is quite easy. There is a kitchen so that you can cook (or in my case, warm up my conbini breakfast), as well as laundry. The staff is very kind and helpful. I really enjoyed staying here away from the hustle and bustle of Kyoto city.

It's an inn. Service was great even when we came too early for check in. We had to wait for someone to come by to help us with our luggage before we checked in. That was great. We got to explore Kyoto for a bit before we settled into our room. Nice and clean. Loved our first experience in a tatami mat sleeping area. Bathroom was amazing even though there is no soaking tub. Shower was fantastic. Far walk from subway if you have heavy luggage to roll and lug behind you. If that is not an issue, then you are good to stay here. The place had an old charm to it, but the room you may stay in is new and beautiful.

The receptionist is very kind and patient with my questions. She let me leave my luggage ahead of checking time and even went through the checkin process and when I was back later everything was already done. The luggage was put into my room already when I was back from touring Uji. The room is super clean and comfortable. For anyone who loves to experience the traditional Japanese living style, but still enjoy the modern convenient bathroom facilities, this is a perfect choice,

This was a great stay, near a lot of great food options in Uji. The room was wonderful and the staff was lovely. It was harder to find due to it being kind of tucked away with a lot less signage/lighting than i was expecting as the door was locked when we arrived so we were uncertain if we were in the right place.

Die Unterkunft ist sehr klassisch gehalten gewesen. Das Personal war sehr nett alles war sehr ordentlich und sauber. Es hat sehr viel Spaß gemacht. Die Anbindungen an die Metro war gut zu erreichen auch zu Fuß somit ein idealer Platz, um Kyoto zu erleben.

外観から想像ができないほど中は綺麗で、古き良き旅館の様相です。木や畳の匂いの懐かしさを感じつつ過ごすことができます。オーナーも陽気かつ親切で、気持ちの良い滞在ができました。値段も比較的安く、近鉄小倉駅から徒歩10分圏内です。

We had a great stay, inn is located a bit away from the more touristy area of Uji which we enjoyed. Our room was immaculate and the host was extremely kind and welcoming. Would highly recommend.

We stayed here 1 night for easy access to Nintendo Museum. Check in is 4pm and our reservation was 4.30, so we were worried it'd be a bit tight. We let the host know and the team were great at getting us checked in quickly and smoothly and set up for our museum trip. Honestly we're a bit sad we only stayed 1 night! It feels like staying in someone's house and the local neighborhood is quiet but still has restaurants and shops nearby. Walking along the canal in the morning we had a lovely chat with a local. Wish we'd stayed more than 1 night so that we could get a feel for Ogura, which is close to Kyoto and Osaka, but still feels like staying where people live. Lovely little find this!

Lo staff è davvero gentilissimo, anche se non è localizzata nel vero e proprio centro di Kyoto la consiglierei a chiunque per la gentilezza del personale, i servizi offerti e per dormire in una struttura tipica giapponese!

We enjoyed the large traditional Japanese room, comfortable futon beds, and the nice conversations with the owners. It's on a little street conveniently located 10 mins from Ogura station. Clean room, friendly staff, reliable WiFi, etc. Ticked all the boxes.

Owners and staff were extremely helpful, especially when using the luggage forwarding. Use of common area is perfect for buying groceries and making own food ( There is a 24 hr grocery store nearby). The rooms are beautiful, abeit the walls are thin. it does not deter from staying here and would recommend for anyone wanting the old feel with updated features.It is also conveniently close to 2 train stations. which makes transit relatively easy.
