Ilford Grand Hotel

Overall the hotel is well positioned, clean and ideal for business trips or visiting London. Unfortunately no parking but this is expected in the city so street parking is around. As mentioned the hotel is very clean, smelling nice everywhere and actively seeing continuous cleaning taking place in communal areas. The air con worked perfectly giving a good night's sleep. The downside is the deposit! I was made to leave a deposit which was actually more than the cost of the room itself! This is just wrong. I appreciate they may have had issues in the past possibly but it seems excessive being made to pay such a sum unexpectedly and then trust you will automatically get it back. It was only security on reception when leaving who said I "should" get it back if he leaves a note for when staff come in. We shall see.

Good location. Tiny but sufficient for a nights stay. Good area with lots of eateries nearby. Shame there was no parking but we managed to find a spot on JustPark in a walkable distance.

The room was small but reasonably clean. There were tea and coffee making facilities and shower gel/shampoo supplied. There was a basic continental breakfast included. The mattress was uncomfortably hard. We had a long check-in process because of a mix-up. It was not an expensive stay so overall reasonable value for money. I probably wouldn’t return - I feel it would be better to spend a little more at the Travelodge.

Staff members very helpful Room clean toilet clean and they have lift to go to another floor there is Ilford exchange car park 24 hour with little charge all restaurants coffee shops and big shopping mall near by

Nice facilities and friendly staff

Don’t like the fact that there was no fridge and intercom in the room. I was provided a fridge when i complained. I truly appreciate it.

New modern hotel on par with premier inn. Large TV and fridge in rooms.

I’ve stayed at The Grand Hotel Ilford many times due to the convenience of it’s location, the service, comfort, general cleanliness, peace and quiet, amenities and continental breakfast are always to a very good, consistent standard every time.. Also on the rare occasion when there have been any issues, their friendly reception staff have always gone out of their way to resolve the issue or moved me to a better double room.. I am a genuine patron of the hotel at different times of year, spring, summer & winter and find their room charges are very good value for the quality service they provide… And I am fussy about where I stay…! The added bonus is that there is a good choice of food options within 500 metres of the hotel, including an excellent world class southern Indian vegetarian restaurant, ( and I’m not even a vegetarian ), but eaten their several times…!!!

Accommodating staff, with complimentary breakfast unfortunately the bread isn’t freshly baked and parking is the only downfall but overall we had a comfortable stay.

This was the most terrible stay! Rooms were dirty. Bed had stains on it and no headboard! Carpet was dirty and bathroom had mould on it. Terrible stay and didn’t want to refund me for the horrendous experience.

only 1 plus- staff are friendly& polite. so many negatives not even sure where to start: hotel is dirty! the rooms are really bad- hairs all over the bathroom and bedding, stains& liquid marks all up the walls, a bathroom which had clearly not been cleaned properly (if at all) the first allocated had a broken window- the handle was missing so it remained open onto the noisy street. moved rooms and although this was a much bigger, nicer room- it was still pretty dirty and the matress was ridiculous- like sleeping on a plank of wood. staid again the following week (no choice due to work)but paid for an upgrade- unfortunately was given the same as last time with the matress that is so hard my body literally ached for days after- their solution- offered me an inferior room with no reinbursement or to change rooms later in my stay. they did bring up an additional duvet for me to sleep on top of, nice thought but not really much use! the really shocking thing however- after being quite seriously sexually harrassed outside the hotel (not their fault) i ordered food to be delivered as i felt very unsafe going out (as a lone female working away from home) when my delivery arrived, rather than the driver calling me (like they do usually) the front desk staff gave him my bedroom number and sent him upstairs! needless to say i checked out the following day- asked about a refund for the 2 night i would not be staying and was told sorry but this is not grounds for a refund! shocking!

Clean and spacious property, perfect for a mini break with kids

Let me start by saying that we booked a very convenient Flight Hotel package, however it is a good hotel overall, the structure is well kept, the rooms are quiet and the heating/air conditioning is not noisy, the bathroom was basic but with a large and modern shower. The cleanliness is a flaw, I don't know if it is normal for the United Kingdom or if I was unlucky but although they changed the towels every 3 days, the sheets were never changed in 2 weeks while the pillows were changed once. The bathroom, on the other hand, was cleaned only after asking. The breakfast included in the price of the room is sufficient with croissants (packaged), different types of cereals, fresh milk, yogurt and drinks. The staff has always been very kind and helpful, from the reception to the cleaning ladies and those of the breakfast and this is a great strong point as well as the fact that there is a person at the reception 24/7. The location is good if you don't want to spend a lot, it's less than 10 minutes walk from Ilford station, from which you can take the Elizabeth Line that takes you straight to central London in 30 minutes or to the major hubs/interchanges. It's a hotel that I recommend if you can turn a blind eye to cleanliness, but my opinion could be influenced by the fact that it was the first time in the UK.

Slow check in due to queue. Took over 20 mins. Room needs some updating and a deep clean. However, a cheap stay close to London.

The hotel location is great and the room was fine. Beds could have needed an extra mattress, really hard and you can feel the interior. You got breakfast but you can't compare it to any hotel I've been too, some soggy croissants and toast. So we only ate there the first day. There are good and cheap breakfast spots right outside the hotel which is worth the extra cost. The staff was really friendly and helpful. So overall it's definitely fine for a short stay

Great staff, location, breakfast, and hotel except for really hard beds. I was looking forward to leaving the hotel because sleeping on the Stonehenge doesn't lead to good rest.

Bed wasn’t a king bed as advertised but 2 single beds clipped together

We got what we paid for. Room was a little tight, but suited our needs. Somewhere safe to sleep and recharge for our daily adventures. Staff were great.

Check in was very smooth and reception staff polite and friendly. I booked this hotel as I had an online exam to take and needed quiet and good wifi. The room was on 3rd floor and although it was peaceful (no sudden loud noises or screaming children), the wifi connection was awful. It kind of defeated the whole purpose of my stay. I had to purchase unlimited data from my network provider and hotspot my laptop for 2 days. Getting onto netflix or youtube was not possible unless waiting forever for connection. Bathroom clean and equipped with toiletries. Could have done with more loo roll bit easily solved, just asked reception. Bed was comfortable, linens not highest quality but sufficient. Lots of reataurants on doorstep. A pleasant stay minus poor wifi.

Room was neat and clean however very small indeed (not large enough for 2 adults to get ready simultaneously in the area next to the bed). It is within a few minutes walking distance of Ilford station however the area is not safe. There are homeless people, groups of youths causing trouble and drunk middle eastern men stumbling about. I would not let my wife venture out alone for safety reasons. The room is quite expensive considering its size and safety concerns of the area.

Very nice budget hotel, clean and room had tea and coffee and a small fridge. Staff very friendly. Only downside for me personally is that the bed was very hard and uncomfortable for me, other than that I wpuld recommend

The staff was so friendly and warm and was always there to help us. The room was clean and all the amenities were fully stocked. The breakfast was adequate to start our days (we stayed there 10 nights). The cost of the room was very reasonable. We plan to stay there again.

Generally good, when my shower wasn’t spraying within shower, they changed my room immediately. Bed duvet not very warm, but otherwise comfortable. Good food, fruit choices for continental breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful..

The staff at the night was very grumpy and rude. The black beard man was very aggressive over asking small information. Not helpful atall. However the day staff was great. The toilet seat back wasnt clean. Poo was there and no body cleaned it. Bins were filthy on day first. Single bed mattress was terrible..couldn't sleep comfortably. I requested another mattress but no one replaced it. Better to stay in Premier Inn

I recently stayed at the Ilford Grand Hotel for one night as I had an early meeting in Southend the next day. The hotel itself was excellent—smart, modern, and equipped with all the basic amenities you’d need for a comfortable stay. It was clean, the room was well-furnished, and it served its purpose perfectly as a convenient stopover. However, the surrounding high street left much to be desired. Admittedly I arrived in the early hours and within minutes of arriving, I was propositioned by someone on the street, which wasn’t the most welcoming experience. Adding to the initial unease, I was approached upon arrival at the hotel by someone I thought might be dodgy but who turned out to be the night auditor—an odd first impression, to say the least. In summary: the hotel itself is fantastic and well worth staying in, but the local area was, unfortunately, a bit of a dive. If you're planning to stay here, the hotel is a gem—but maybe don’t wander around outside too much at night.

Nice hotel with comfortable stay. Very little sounds from outside. Very nice service from the lovely staff. The breakfas was a bis basic but it had all the essentials (filter coffee with choices of milk inc plant milk; cereal, fruit, toast, jam..). One thing they could improve is to have reading lamps by the bed.

Area is a little bit rough, but excellent staff and good rooms. Continental breakfast included is nice

Nice and quiet hotel about 35 minutes by underground from central London. Nice room with good but rather narrow beds. Really nice new bathroom with a good shower and plenty of hot water. Breakfast was okay, but nothing more than that. Lots of local shops and restaurants in the area around the hotel. Friendly staff at the reception. We might consider using it again another time.
