Our room was spacious and comfortable with views directly over the canal. Bathroom was well equipped with a fantastic shower. Free car park for residents and also a cafe downstairs.

Nice cozy room. Not really a hotel, but easy to access with given code for the key lock. Perfect location at the south end of Loch Ness with some nice pubs and restaurants in the surrounding area.

The stay was okay, but felt overpriced compared to other placed I had been to in the same trip. Note that this is just a building with key boxes, you call a number and they give you the code, there's no staff on site. The one complaint was that the room was very cold, I had to turn on the heater, which was situated next to one of the beds, so had to move the bed for the heat to spread. It took a while for the room to heat up. The bathroom had a large towel heater that was also off, i tried to turn it on but it kept shutting off.

The room was newly decorated and all of the contents looked new. Everywhere was clean and comfortable. We hadnt realised that it was a collection of rooms rather than a hotel and we drove round a couple of times before finding the entrance and where to park. We felt it was overpriced but we had a comfortable stay.

Les chambres sont propres et ont été refaites récemment. Il y a un parking accessible et pratique. Heureusement nous n'avons pas pris la chambre dite "petite" qui doit vraiment l'être beaucoup. Pour une nuit nous n'avions pas pris une chambre vue lac (canal en fait) car les photos du site n'en montraient pas l'intérêt. Il y en a un, la hauteur sous plafond y est normale..si la nuit vous ressentez le besoin de vous lever ..attention à la tête sauf peut-être si vous mesurez moins d' un mètre soixante ou couchez sur le côté épargné du lit! En plus on a l'impression d'être dans la chambre d'à côté et on entend aussi les sols grincer à chaque pas à l'étage. Ne pas ouvrir les fenêtres car l'odeur de graillon remonte de la cuisine. Le petit déjeuner est vraiment a minima avec des produits pas top (saucisses, bacon,..). Bon c'est vrai qu'à Fort Augustus il n'y a pas grand chose...mais tant qu'à voir le Loch Ness, en dehors des écluses qui donnent un petit look...autant aller le voir d'ailleurs ou choisir un autre beau loch, ils ne manquent pas et comme on sait maintenant avec certitude que Nessie n'existe pas, autant trouver pour se reposer mieux ou nettement mieux et très probablement pas plus cher ou même meilleur marché...

The room was brand new and very nice with all that you find in a hotel ie, iron and board, hair dryer, heated towel rack etc. The location above the cafe warranted stairs which is fine with us. Signage could be bigger to easily find it . Situated on the canal is amazing! The boats going thru the locks are fun to watch and the walk to Loch Ness is beautiful . There are trails for biking and walking and I wish we had more time there. Highly recommend this quaint little village and Brothys is a great restaurant.

We stayed one night whilst walking the Great Glen Way. The room was clean and comfortable. Well located right next to the Caledonian Canal. The only minor issue was that options for breakfast in the area were limited until 9am.

Really enjoyed our stay. Martin was very responsive and made things easy. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, and the property well maintained. If I were to suggest anything to make the stay better in the future, it would be thicker, more substantial pillows.

The bed was very hard on our backs, so we did not sleep well. The slanted roof made it difficult to walk around the room without hitting one’s shoulder or head. The room was tiny.

We had two rooms. One was great overlooking the canal, unfortunately the other was less so with very limited headroom, overlooking the car park, yet we paid the same amount for both rooms.

Initial communication was poor. Room size was not feasible for 2 people and 2 suitcases. I had to rearrange most of the furniture to be able to open both cases. The peaked roof was a danger in the dark with such small space to walk in. Everything was loud (the doors, floors, fans, street noise, other guests). We could hear snoring from other rooms, every door that opened slammed or croaked, even the elctric kettles were audible from other rooms. The temperature was hard to manage. We could get open but not close them again. We never could get the heater or towel warmer to work. I had to ask for help with the windows and learned the complicated combination of keys, handles, buttons and pressure to be able to operate them. Then I asked for help with the heater and the staff, who doesn’t service the room, pressed a million buttons and then said "maybe it will come on". We had a 4 night stay but the room was only equipped with 1 day of in room supplies. When I asked for more I was told I could get it from the noisy cafe below, which had limited hours, and when I finally found someone by knocking on the staff doors they couldn't find the supplies. We left a day early due to the misery and asked for a one day refund and were refused. They cited their no refund policy, which to be fair, exists. The town is sleepy in winter but was still a good location for a base camp for day trips. Still I wouldnt stay here again.

Area is nice but a tourist spot that sees a lot of traffic without the infrastructure to support it. The hotel is clean and decent for a nights stay but the person in charge is rude. He was rude about the check in process which is not listed in the booking. He was inconvenienced when we asked for a second towel for the room when only one was provided. The room also did not provide more than one packet of coffee when the room is setup for two guests. No local stores open before 8am so there is no other options for getting coffee before then.
Area is nice but a tourist spot that sees a lot of traffic without the infrastructure to support it. The hotel is clean and decent for a nights stay but the person in charge is rude. Location and surrounding amenities are fabulous! The food in the Lock Inn was superb. No communication around who and where we had to be to check in. Managed to find a random cafe worker who was cleaning and he told us the code to the room key and where we could park. He was helpful to be fair to him. We then spent a lovely evening having a few drinks and enjoying an evening cruise of Loch Ness which was FAB. The rooms are basically a conversion of the shop loft space so not much head room. No hotel contact info or local emergency needs etc. there is no fire escape info of any kind in the rooms, it’s all very dodgy tbh. With no one to speak to about things and it was late so we tried to get some sleep except at 1am the fire alarm control panel kept us up all night with a high pitch beeping every 5 seconds!!!! As there was a fault with the alarm. Various other guests kept trying to silence his alarm which set the full fire alarms off on at least two occasions. My wife went to sleep on the car for a bit due to the torture of the beeping. Again, still no one to contact about this at all. We left the room as soon as the sun was up at 6am.

With no one to speak to about things and it was late so we tried to get some sleep except at 1am the fire alarm control panel kept us up all night with a high pitch beeping every 5 seconds!!!! As there was a fault with the alarm. Various other guests kept trying to silence his alarm which set the full fire alarms off on at least two occasions. My wife went to sleep on the car for a bit due to the torture of the beeping. Again, still no one to contact about this at all. We left the room as soon as the sun was up at 6am.

We never received the code for the lock box to get our key, so had to pay to book somewhere else last minute. Even 1 hour before arrival we had not received it (this was in the evening and no one was available to speak with, not in person or on the phone after many attempts at calling). Hotel.com ultimately refunded as. Disappointing to say the least!

Reservation made months ago with specific demand for a room with 2 beds When checking in, was given a room with one bed. When mentioned to the local manager downstairs, he answered it was that and nothing could be done now. I insisted, he got mad and aggressive even threatening to cancel my room and denying me access. We then discussed the issue calmly, he made a phone call and handed me the key to readily available room with 2 beds!!! There is no host on site and if you want to reach them use phone or text, neither of these options worked for me. I requested a twin room and got a double bed instead, awkward to say the least. the location is good, the room was clean. The host, which I called with assistance of my host and their phone at the previous location, was close to rude but did give me brief access information to use later in the day. Which I appreciated.

Really enjoyed our stay. Martin was very responsive and made things easy. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, and the property well maintained. If I were to suggest anything to make the stay better in the future, it would be thicker, more substantial pillows.

The room was brand new and very nice with all that you find in a hotel ie, iron and board, hair dryer, heated towel rack etc. The location above the cafe warranted stairs which is fine with us. Signage could be bigger to easily find it . Situated on the canal is amazing! The boats going thru the locks are fun to watch and the walk to Loch Ness is beautiful . There are trails for biking and walking and I wish we had more time there. Highly recommend this quaint little village and Brothys is a great restaurant.

Area is nice but a tourist spot that sees a lot of traffic without the infrastructure to support it. The hotel is clean and decent for a nights stay but the person in charge is rude. He was rude about the check in process which is not listed in the booking. He was inconvenienced when we asked for a second towel for the room when only one was provided. The room also did not provide more than one packet of coffee when the room is setup for two guests. No local stores open before 8am so there is no other options for getting coffee before then.

The lochness gatehouse was fine for a stop over on our way to Isle of Skye. The check in process could be improved. We had to call the owner, Martin when we arrived, but do not have access to calling as we’re from North America. He is not on WhatsApp to text either. Les chambres sont propres et ont été refaites récemment. Il y a un parking accessible et pratique. Heureusement nous n'avons pas pris la chambre dite "petite" qui doit vraiment l'être beaucoup. Pour une nuit nous n'avions pas pris une chambre vue lac (canal en fait) car les photos du site n'en montraient pas l'intérêt. Il y en a un, la hauteur sous plafond y est normale..si la nuit vous ressentez le besoin de vous lever ..attention à la tête sauf peut-être si vous mesurez moins d' un mètre soixante ou couchez sur le côté épargné du lit! En plus on a l'impression d'être dans la chambre d'à côté et on entend aussi les sols grincer à chaque pas à l'étage. Ne pas ouvrir les fenêtres car l'odeur de graillon remonte de la cuisine. Le petit déjeuner est vraiment a minima avec des produits pas top (saucisses, bacon,..). Bon c'est vrai qu'à Fort Augustus il n'y a pas grand chose...mais tant qu'à voir le Loch Ness, en dehors des écluses qui donnent un petit look...autant aller le voir d'ailleurs ou choisir un autre beau loch, ils ne manquent pas et comme on sait maintenant avec certitude que Nessie n'existe pas, autant trouver pour se reposer mieux ou nettement mieux et très probablement pas plus cher ou même meilleur marché...

You have to walk past a long line of open garbage bins to get to the back door entry to the hotel. There is an excellent restaurant for breakfast right downstairs. Opens at 9am though which seems rather late for early risers.

Strålande läge precis vid slussarna vilket var trevligt. Litet trevligt rum med snedtak in mot gården(vissa har mot slussarna). Skön säng, svalt på natten, helt ok badrum med bra tryck i duschen. Ingen frukost ingick men flera bra alternativ i närheten, bland annat det café som ligger på framsidan av huset.Gratis parkering fram till 11 på fm. på baksidan eller på gatan.Bra läge för utflykter till Fort William.

Had a bit of trouble checking in sent messages my iMessage and WhatsApp but no reply (prior to arrival and following the instructions emailed). Messaged again in arrival. No reply. Called and the call was declined. Only the did I receive the checkin instructions. Room ok. Expensive the price paid (but comparable with prices of other locations at time of booking). Everything else ok, although the bed mattress felt cheap quality - very soft - is what it is. Wouldn’t stay again, but couldn’t fault the cleanliness, upkeep etc. Great location!

Would not stay here again. The walls are so thin you can hear your neighbors talking and snoring, and even just walking around. I requested twin beds but we were given 1 bed, with no possibility of changing. The check in process is confusing. Parking is only available between 4pm and 11am so if you’re staying for the day you have to move your car. If you want easy and comfortable, this isn’t the place for you.
