The suite, the beach view, and the housekeeping were excellent. The hotel amenities were unsatisfactory. The restaurant was not full service as advertized, only breakfast was served 4 days of the week. The garage was not big enough for pickup trucks. the indoor pool wasn't open and the top two floors of the parking garage was closed off, making parking difficult.

We have stayed here a total of 6 tines now. This time was off season but was still nice enough outside. The property is very dated as far as looks. We ALWAYS book the oceanfront double. The rooms are surprisingly nice and always super clean and the view is perfect. The elevators are never all fully functioning, so have patience. Its just an elevator,there are more than 1! It definitely needs updated esthetically but i truly love this extremely affordable resort. You wont be disappointed. Just dont have 5 star expectations and youll love this place.

We enjoyed the room as itself from the decorations to the way the resort looks as a whole. Parking is tuff in the garage once they are full but with so many people I can understand it. The beds were small compared to our normal expectations but they were comfortable.

Frustrating that neither of the on site bars were open past 9. Smoking at the pool right next to the sign that said no smoking. RJ’s not open for lunch. Weed smoking somewhere on the balcony. Tried to make us pay an extreme damage deposit when we were told no deposit is required. Elevators were atrocious. Way too small and not enough for the size of the hotel. No air conditioning in it either. Kitchen sink had no water pressure. It came out at a trickle. But the shower and bathroom sink had wonderful water pressure. Didn’t make any sense. Air conditioning in the room barely worked.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay however there’s a few things that should be updated. The lobby situation was confusing, the lobby was across the street from the actual hotel. Two elevators were broken. And after a certain time at night it was impossible to find parking so we had to park in the garage across the street.

This hotel was disgusting from the inside to the out! We caught a rash and checked out early the hotel isn't returning my calls as I still have not received my regular from our stay. The communication at this place sucks. We never got the room serviced because no one came the phone in the room didn't work so we had to walk down each time something 2-3 times to get them to bring the items up and it would take them 3-6 hours to bring it up. You have to wear your wrist bands 24/7 and there paper they continue to fall off and the staff is walking about asking if you have them even when you have them clearly on. The water for the pools were so cloudy and the hot tip was out of order the entire time. We are very unsatisfied with this experience.

Our room was infested with Roaches!!! Big ones small ones babies it was terrible room had not been cleaned at all!! This place truly needs to be shut down immediately it is certainly a health hazard. We took videos and pictures showed staff and they were not surprised the were not concerned so there is no telling how long this place has been operating at these standards! Scale of 1-10 I would say a -100 DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

I don't like writing bad reviews, but here we go. The room had roaches and hair in the bathroom. The space was cramped. Hair was in the freezer. The pull-out sofa was dirty and the sheets for it were dirty. The lady at the front desk was very sweet and found us another room. That room was a lot better. Pools were dirty. I had to get the net and clean the pool out. The chairs were nasty, and we had to wash them off to use them. No smoke detectors. The pictures they post are false advertising. Parking sucks

Check in was super slow, had to pay $24 for the weekend for parking and the parking garage was so small. It was difficult to navigate and I ended up messing up the front of my car. The room smelled musty and old. No maid service showed up for fresh towels or to empty trash.

This was, by far, the nastiest hotel I have ever walked into! We checked in, walked into our room, immediately walked back out, checked out, and we stayed at a different hotel down the road. This place has not been remodeled in YEARS, we saw roaches on the floor, stains on everything, the AC did not work, and the room smelled like mildew! My wife and I paid good money to stay here for our three day vacation, and even though we didn’t actually stay, neither the hotel or Expedia would refund our money or offer ANY compensation for our awful experience! In the end, we paid for two hotel rooms while on vacation, and only used one of them! Thankfully, the hotel we actually stayed at, was great! Expedia is the worst the website to book anything through, fortunately for us, there are plenty of competitors to choose from, and their competition will be our “go to” website for booking hotels in the future! that but We booked and paid for two more nights at a different hotel! I will never use Expedia again, PERIOD!

My room was dirty upon arrival. There were lots of hair in the bathtub and the sheets were dirty. The bed was not comfortable at all. I called the front desk and housekeeping several times within minutes of entering my room, no one answered. I walked across the street to the lobby and made the front desk staff aware of my issues and Moe assured me that he’d request a full cleaning of my room the following day (which meant I had to just deal with the dirty sheets and bathtub until then), housekeeping never came during my entire stay. I called front desk and housekeeping everyday to remind them of the issues, but no one answered the phones at all. On my last day, housekeeping knocked several times an hour before checkout time, 11am. This stay was not very pleasant and I will not be staying here again due to the poor conditions of the hotel and lack of concern and communication from the hotel staff. I do not recommend this hotel. On another note, RJ’s restaurant staff were wonderful and the food was okay.

I’ve been here twice, once as a guest of a friend and this time with family. On the reservation selection there will be three location, caravelle resort, caravelle tower and St Clermente. Pay attention which one you select, the resort is a nicer building, good wifi, and cleaner room. St Clemente was the lower class building, everything is smaller and no wifi (they say there is wifi but it doesn’t connect). Besides that, both buildings are in great locations with amazing views of the beach. MAKE SURE YOU SELECT THE RIGHT BUILDING.

I did not like that we had to pay for parking and there was hardly ever any parking close available that was close to the hotel. Also, the beds were uncomfortable and it was just not a great experience. The parking situation is the reason I will not start at The Caravelle again. Hotel is run down and I cannot believe they charged for parking.

Staff was pleasant. No rude behavior so that is a plus! The cost was decent but the room was raggedy, i.e., mold, the door frame appeared damaged, the bathroom door had chipped away pieces from the bottom, the foundation box spring was dirty looking, the pull out couch mattress was thin, old, and not ready (no linen). We did not use the pull out. The units are individually owned so it feels weird commenting like this when the condition of the unit is based on an unknown owner’s negligence. The view was great to be ocean view. The outdoor pool was crowded but the kids were soon able to enjoy + we could lounge as people left. Not a bad experience just took some loss for a cheaper room.

Stay was good. Property wasn’t “bad” nor was it “good” The important stuff like cleanliness was satisfactory. Reserved room type was incorrect, not sure of that was property’s fault or hotels.com but it was rectified without hassle. 2 lbs attempt at correct room put us in a room with a detached stove that had a notice “not working”. 3rd room attempt was fine but the door frame appeared someone in history attempted to kick down the door and was moving with made the secondary security device very frightening. Property served the purpose I needed it to but is definitely outdated and in need of repairs.

We ordered a king ocean view suite and when we arrived to check in they gave us our key and directed us to a building that was not ocean front. The room was old, dated and smelled so bad. It had 2 queens and a pull-out couch. Not anything like the pictures online. The balcony was so small you couldn't sit on it and it had a regular door not a slider. The view was far from ocean view!! We saw palm trees and little to no ocean. Will not rent from again.

I’ll start with the good: our room was clean. Everything else was terrible. We traveled with another family and were promised condos next to each other when we booked, yet when we checked in they didn’t even put us on the same floor. Every surface of this place is filled with disgusting grime. I was nauseous looking at the elevator doors and walls. The carpets in the hallway floors were gross. The vending machines were grimy. The staff was terrible. There was a nice front desk person one night, but everyone else was rude. A staff member brought me some towels and yelled at me for putting my dirty towels on the floor. Check in took over an hour because the two people checking in guests repeatedly disappeared to the back for long lengths of time. If you need pool towels you have walk across the street and then wait in line to get them from the front desk. So give yourself a good hour. The blow dryer smelled like it was going to explode in my hand. We heard zapping coming from our kitchen area at night. The ACs leak from upper balconies onto lower balconies. The elevators take forever. There may be one luggage cart in the whole place for everyone to share. The bartender served a non-guest so much alcohol that when the cops were called because he was being creepy to young girls he tried to run to the ocean screaming “I’m swimming to China” and my kids got to see what it looks like when someone gets tased by 5 cops.

At first it was okay the room its self was clean well kept. But when we first got there me and my significant other only had on underwear when a matence man walked in and was talking about something at the time i thought was a car. And he just stood there in confusion. And we asked him to leave bc we had no idea why he was there later that night i saw it was for the towel rack. Didnt even care at that point i was so taken back like no one called us to inform he just walked in and said mataince. The HOTUB was cold. We waited 10 min for it to heat up after the timer and it got no warmer . As me were leaving today my girlfriend was in an elevator and 2 men had uniforms and two men that looked like they work there in hoodies said to her i bet your not used to being around all these thugs. It was just uncalled for and a bad experience .

Hotel staff (one in particular) had an attitude. Did not give great customer service nor make the experience of staying at your hotel great. And this was our first time staying. Needless to say, we will not be back. Even tho one family choosing to not book with your hotel would make a huge difference, but if u keep staff like “the guy that frustrated the situation even more” around, then the number of families not booking with you will impact your pockets…. Regardless, me and mine won’t be coming back.

The shower knob broke and I couldn't turn the water off. I reported it to the main office and a work order was put in. I explained it to a maintenance tech who was standing near the office and told him what was going on that I had no way to trun the water off, his reply was let me check if I have another knob to replace it. Never followed up . Water still running. I seen another maintenance personnel explained to him what was going on. His reply I will check. Never followed up. I went to a local Walmart and purchased a pair of pliers to shut the water off. After there paying 39.00 for property warranty this should have been fixed ASAP. I checked out today and no maintenance tech ever showed up I don't no if there is and thing that Hotel.com can do but I requesting some type of conversation for my stay

The Caravelle is now old and run down. Parking is terrible. No place to unload upon arrival. Park across the street in a garage. Haul your own items across Ocean Blvd. Then up the elevators. Made several trips because I was a solo traveler. I needed to leave one day early due to a family emergency. Called the front desk and gave notice. No refund. I booked thru Expedia and paid upon arrival at the hotel. Meaning the hotel collected my payment and could have refunded directly. No. It’s their policy. “We have your money and we are not refunding to you,” Is what it felt like. I called Expedia from the front desk when I checked out. The Expedia person spoke to the front desk manager. Expedia could not refund because they had not been paid yet. I have stayed at the Caravelle many times in the last 30 years and taken family members and friends for the ocean front location. Never again.

We went down for 5 days and im so glad i chose this resort. The front desk workers were AMAZING!!!It was clean. The room looked wonderful and was very comfortable. It had a kitchenette that was very functional. It was not right on the strip (about 18min drive away) so it was very calm and quiet. I would definitely stay here again 10/10 expirence.

Had issues with our TV the entire stay. Someone came to fix it and it worked for a few hours and then it stopped. Called Frint Desk numerous times and no answer. My room flooded due to something above my room. I called the front desk from 5:15-6:15am and finally made contact after I packed my family up to vacate due to not knowing what the “water” was coming from the ceiling.

Our stay was good with the exception no one ever answers the front desk phone and we couldn’t get in touch with housekeeping for towels so we had to make multiple trips across the street! On our 3rd day the hotel key wasn’t allowing us access to our room, I went to the front desk and the lady was giving me a hard time.

We had a wonderful four nights here. Staff were super friendly. We were given a free upgrade to a much larger oceanfront room. Room was very nice and clean! View was amazing. Getting to the pool and beach was a short walk. We will definitely stay here again.

Hotel is in a good location travel to grocery stores, gas, fun things for the family was all within 10-20 minute drive or walking distance. The property itself is like most other hotels in myrtle beach and is run down and needs updating. The parking garage was tight but manageable, even for a bigger vehicle/suv/truck. Elevators were really uncomfortable and humid and took forever but the room was really nice and clean. Kitchen was adequate size and worked perfect for our family of 5. The staff seemed friendly and check in went smoothly. There were multiple ice machine locations and snack/drink machines that all seemed to be in working order. The pools were nice for all of our kids (ages 3-11) to enjoy. The indoor pool and hot tubs looked like they needed more water and werent as well maintained as the outdoor pool and kiddie area, but were still okay. Short distance to the beach, but only one of the showers to rinse off were in working order. Over all we would absolutely stay here again.

The place was quiet low season but the tv had low quality cable channels, the volume didn't work on half of them, one baking pan, no ice in the hotel except for the restaurant and that was only open for breakfast. Oh, and there was one overworked woman doing it all. The room was privately owned from what the front desk told me.

Firstly, the room was very clean. The hotel had a lot of amenities. There was a very nice game room, pools outside that were heated. The inside pool was being renovated but it was there. There was soa services and a restaurant. The two bedroom suite was massive. The kitchen looked updated and the room was beautiful. The bathroom was a little small but that was a minor thing. The staff was incredibly nice (shout out to Travis). Overall, I would and plan to stay again.

Was very worried about staying here after reading the reviews. It wasnt that bad. It was clean enough, no bugs. The wait for the elevator was long. We booked oceanfront but did not get oceanfront. We were on the 7th floor and there was a building directly in front of us which blocked the view. The bar was fine. Check in was easy and the staff was friendly. It's definitely an old resort but overall decent.

Tried to make us pay an extreme damage deposit when we were told no deposit is required. Elevators were atrocious. Way too small and not enough for the size of the hotel. No air conditioning in it either. Kitchen sink had no water pressure. It came out at a trickle. But the shower and bathroom sink had wonderful water pressure. Didn’t make any sense. Air conditioning in the room barely worked.

My room was dirty upon arrival. There were lots of hair in the bathtub and the sheets were dirty. The bed was not comfortable at all. I called the front desk and housekeeping several times within minutes of entering my room, no one answered. I walked across the street to the lobby and made the front desk staff aware of my issues and Moe assured me that he’d request a full cleaning of my room the following day (which meant I had to just deal with the dirty sheets and bathtub until then), housekeeping never came during my entire stay. I called front desk and housekeeping everyday to remind them of the issues, but no one answered the phones at all. On my last day, housekeeping knocked several times an hour before checkout time, 11am. This stay was not very pleasant and I will not be staying here again due to the poor conditions of the hotel and lack of concern and communication from the hotel staff. I do not recommend this hotel. On another note, RJ’s restaurant staff were wonderful and the food was okay.

On the day we arrived no one at the front desk and had to wait 15mins. Finally he came around and gave room key and told me to go across street. After unloading and going to 3rd floor. No room, called three times and final answered and said we were in wrong building. When getting stay it said studio King bed. As we walked in room it had a nice kitchen but came into a double Murphy bed that was not close to being a king. Bathroom ceiling is not recommended for tall people. Pools were dirty and pool area was not kept up to anyone’s par. The one great thing is it was easy access to the beach and the Bartender at the local bar was great. Oh, but front desk told us restaurant was open but it was not.
