The outdoor swimming pool is actually heated and wonderful. I was the only one out there in September, but it was a lovely day. Our room in this hotel had a great view, but somehow felt dark — especially the bathroom. The safe in the closet was on top of ??? Nothing useful. The closet was almost unusable. The beds were nice. The bar and the restaurant are good. Self parking is a nightmare. Just pay the horrible valet parking fees unless you’re young and have no trouble with long walks.

Great atmosphere and vibes across the hotel. We stayed for a weekend and was lovely. Staff very attentive and a lot of stuff to do inside. The shuttle to the wharf is a plus. Highly recommended!!!

Nice renovations. The pool area is gfeat however we did not get beach chairs for 2 hours. It seemed like people not staying at hotel were coming to the pool. The guests should receive priority and there should be a system to only allow hotel guests. Clean hotel. Nice staff. Extras like lobby water and fire pits are a nice touch. Check in should be at 3. 4 is late and you waste a whole day.

Wonderful resort. Beautiful decor throughout. Both couples- and family-friendly. Great transportation options to town: free bikes, shuttle and water taxi. Delicious food. Three minor suggestions: 1. Heat the outdoor pool more. Everyone complained at how cold the water was. 2. Have valets offer scannable tags to guests checking in who will self-park. 3. Open 1639 seven days/week. The menu looks amazing and we were as we couldn’t try it out.

Property had beautiful views, staff was warm & welcoming. We had a problem with our sliding glass door as it would not lock, but when we called they sent a facilities engineer right away to fix the issue. Patio had seagull droppings as did the cushions.

Always enjoy staying here, just a couple of comments. Front entrance by valet floors are always dirty, first impressions mean a lot and it’s an easy fix. Our balcony of our room was not clean as there were bird droppings everywhere, housekeeping team should address that in their room check before arrival. Service in all f&b outlets was outstanding but food unfortunately is average at best, with the best views in Newport again it’s an easy fix. Continue being awesome we appreciate you and will always be back!

Prior to our check-in date i tried numerous times to reach the hotel by phone. Each time i either got voicemail or the phone was hung up. Messages left were never returned. I was only able to get some response through Facebook. As we were taking our dog i asked for the Very Important Pup package. I was told this would be added to the reservation. Upon checking in i was told they had no more pup packages to provide. The facilities looked nice. Our room was clean. The walls in these rooms are extremely thin. You can hear everything from the neighboring rooms. I could hear conversations, people using the bathroom, etc... That was very disappointing. We did let the front desk know but they seemed to not really care. The indoor pool was filthy. There were item's floating on the surface of the pool as well as loose hair. The shower in the room seemed weak, almost as if there was no water pressure. To add to this we had no hot water and had to report it to the front desk. We ate at the torpedo restaurant. The food was mediocre at best and the prices were beyond ridiculous. Our drinks had bugs in them. After this experience we chose to eat outside of the hotel. The service at the hotel was just ok. Multiple times i asked questions and was pointed to different people who also didn’t have answers. While our stay in Newport was nice i would not stay at this hotel again. The renovations seem like a band aid and locals advised us of this. I feel like the hotel is not worth the cost.

The property was just ok. Check in was smooth, our room was in the 8th floor. Elevators are super small, fitting only 3 people with luggage. Our room door was jammed and opening/closing it was so noisy and we had to push/pull hard to ensure proper closing/opening. The rooms are close to one another so you can hear others in their room. The gym was inconvenient and small, not a lot of equipment and some machines were broken. The property was ok, but nothing to rave about. When booking we thought it would be nice to be on an "island" but actually found this to be inconvenient and isolating. After exploring downtown Newport, we regretted not booking something closer to the downtown area with all the dining and shops. Lastly, Expedia said our room came with a $10 credit and the hotel said we could use this towards a snack at the cafe, but this never happened. For some reason the front register and the cafe next door didn't have systems that talked to each other. Not a big deal, this was more of a "perk" that didn't turn out to be true. If you're visiting Newport for the first time, I would recommend staying somewhere closer to the main attractions. If we come back to Newport someday, we will not be choosing this same property.

My wife and I decided to spend the day in Newport and stay overnight. We absolutely picked the right place. The bed was incredible comfortable and the room was adorably decorated. We stayed in the tower section of the hotel on the 5th floor. Our room had an excellent view of the pool, water, fire pit area etc. We would 100% stay here on our next trip to Newport.

The hotel’s location is great, not far from main street. They also offer a free Shuttle bus to take customers to the busiest area in town, so, you don’t have to worry about parking ! We reserved a water view room. It had two big windows , one of the curtain is broken, and they said they are out of batteries, so can not fix it during our stay, so we had to keep it closed all the time. So we can not see the water view from our bed, also because it is too broken, it can not really block the light either! We pay more for a water view room, but end up had no view and no good sleep! Pleople who works in the bar restaurant are really friendly, but the environment is filthy! A lot feathers came out of decoration pillows! Not very comfortable visually!

The location is beautiful. This is the most picturesque property in Newport. Parking is limited, and expensive. While we were there, repairs the main entrance caused an inconvenience when checking in and carrying luggage. Rooms are small and could use an update. Staff was friendly. Offers nice outdoor area. Hi there, I would like to provide some feedback as we had such an underwhelming stay last week. 1st, there is an obvious lack of management in all areas, the pool especially. The pool attendants are so incredibly slow and 1 seems so unhappy to be there. Our 1st issue was that we were put in a room on the first floor in the parking lot.... I asked to change out of being so ncomfortble changing and also I didnt want to spend my vacation withthe curtains closed and I truly feel like for the price we deserved more. We call to see if we can change rooms and we are met with "no, we are full" right away. I decided to talk to the front desk right in person so explain how I felt uncomfortable being in this room. At the front desk, I honestly just feel like it was a big lack of hospitality. Nobody cared we didn't love the room. Hey, I totally understand the hotel may have been full, but we arrived at like 12:00p so I know we were one of the first to check in and went right to the desk at 3:00p again to get settled with the room #, in which case going back at 3:10pm couldn't have been THAT difficult to switch rooms with another patron who hadn't arrive yet. The man the next morning was clearly annoyed with us after I was being so polite with him bc I understand this may be annoying to them to switch us. Anyways, the pool area is dirty. The bartenders inside seem like we are just a transaction. I wish there was at least a hot tub in the adults only area. Splashing was OTT at the pool.

Our room was exceptional with breath taking views of Narragansett Bay and spacious with sophisticated and comfortable modern design. The hotel ground was well maintained with ample chairs and cabanas to enjoy and relax next to water. The restaurant next to swimming pool overlooking the bay was a perfect spot to relax and truly enjoy the meals and drinks. The hotel truly felt like a resort. We will certainly come back.

Everything was excellent, except the HvAC system in our room was very noisy and made it very difficult to sleep. We had the maintenance guy check it out, but they said there was nothing they could do and all the rooms were that way. Hard to believe that that would be the case and that more people would not complain about the issue. We asked to change rooms if it could not be fixed and that is when they told us it was that way in all the rooms.

Check in was terrible they said they would call us when our room was ready and never did. We waited a long time and finally went to ask them. Most of the help speaks terrible English. No housekeeping in our room. Needed towels and couldn’t even get them as the room phone didn’t work and when you called hotel from your cell couldn’t get through to anyone. Restaurant food was very good but very short staff.We were treated very well at the pool area as we rented a cabana for the day and that worked out perfectly. We did notice next to us a mom with her young children were using the cabana and did not rent it. Nobody said anything to her so that wasn’t fair to pay to rent a cabana and have the person next to you use it for free. We know for a fact that they didn’t pay because we heard them talking amongst themselves. When it was time to leave we had to go down to front desk to get help with our luggage as we couldn’t call. Overall the view is breathtaking. For the price we paid you would think we would have had better service. We would stay again but would be on top of what we experienced so it wouldn’t happen again.

Beautiful resort with great views. Nice pool, bars and restaurants. Clean and newly renovated. Comfy beds. Only negative was the staff at the front desk. We arrived at 415 and a room wasnt available. They didnt care. Didnt offer anything for us to do but sit there with all of our stuff. Then pretended like we werent there. Another negative experience with the same woman the next day when we asked for champagne glasses. Told us to try the bar. She clearly doesnt want to be working in the hospitality business. Similar experience with a different woman when checking out. Servers at the bar and restaurant were all great though.

Checked in at 11:00am and was told l would get a call when room was ready. 3:00 still not ready, said I would get a call when it was. Called back at 6:00 and 8:00 no answer went back to hotel a little after midnight and they said it was still marked as not ready. He personally went to check and said the room was ready but housekeeping must have never marked it as done therefore l never received a callback. By this time l said forget it but he stated he didn’t have the authority to give us a refund and assured us he would tell his manager and for us to also in the morning to receive compensation for the room. By the time we transferred all my bags which were in the opposite side of hotel in my daughters room it was well near 1:00 in morning. All three of us had to shower and get ready for dinner in my daughters room and this is totally unacceptable. They assured me that contacting you about this issue we would get a full refund as there was nothing they could do on their end because l booked through a 3rd party and it was prepaid. I am demanding a full refund for this nights stay as it was an absolutely terrible experience.

When we arrived at 1 am, the property couldn’t verify with Expedia that we had paid for our room due to an error in their system. The worker attempted to charge us the full price to obtain the keys for the room, and she attempted to charge my credit card three times before my card company locked it. After 45 minutes, security escorted us to the room, but they wouldn’t give us the keys. The room lacked functioning air conditioning during the night, but it was fixed the following day. The next morning, they provided us with keys and offered us a late check-out once they realized we had paid for the room. However, it wasn’t until Expedia contacted them on our behalf that they refunded the resort fees and parking fees. Despite this, we still paid the full price for the room without air conditioning, resulting in limited sleep.

VIP didn’t do anything. Nothing offered. The items I would have them improve on would be their service. Parking attendants and baggage excellent. It took 20 or more minutes to get my drink, my daughter got her food first. Food service was slow. Bartending, took 12 min for them to even acknowledge us. It took 3 phone calls to get pillows and blankets for our pull out which I requested days before and day of. But at 9:30 at night had to call 3x. This should have already happened. Oh and the hair conditioner smells terrible. Other than that it was a good stay!

Newport is an absolute dream for a quick getaway. This hotel was amazing from cleanliness to the beautiful views in the property. The water shuttle was amazing - great views and quick and easy to get to the wharf and to walk around Thames st without the hassle of driving and looking for parking. Will be coming back!

Overall good resort, with beautiful property. Clean and modern room with comfortable bed and fluffy pillows. The fireplace area was my favorite! Food was delicious! Pool area was the biggest issue, the service by the pool was super slow! Whenever I asked for anything they said ok someone will be over, no one actually did or came to help! There was never any clean towels available, or bed chairs, or umbrellas for shade. My child was cold and wet they will say sorry we can’t to do anything, no towels! Especially one girl who was super unpleasant and anything I asked her answer use to be no! Guys by the pool were much more nicer and helpful! This resort was expensive and it’s supposed to be a 4 star, but service wise was 2 star! The front desk, customer service was also not great! They gave us rooms at first with horrible views with no privacy, I had to go and make them change it! Where they showed me attitude with a face expression. The tarpedo restaurant overall was good, we ate there three times, one of the times there apparently was misunderstanding that’s what the waiter told us, where we had to wait forever until someone came up to us and took our order! We were just sitting there and they were passing by us, seeing and ignoring. Until I said excuse me, can someone take our order???

I like that the property is away from the major hustle and bustle, but is in walking distance to the wharfs. The water taxi and shuttle bus were also nice. 1) I didn't like that I don't know what my VIP ammenity was - was it early check-in? Also, parking is $35 per day on top of the resort fee and the price of the room. I don't like that there are fees for staying at the resort on top of the fee I already paid for staying at the resort. Just tell me the price. 2) Our room was nice enough, but there were no available outlets, save one, for charging devices, etc. The room was also not really part of the hotel, but rather you had to leave the main hotel, then walk outside through a courtyard and enter a vestibule with, I think, access to 4 rooms - felt like a Motel. 3) The Pineapple Club bar was messy and seemed dirty - service was very slow. The pool area had broken and ripped umbrellas; it took some time for the "hostess" to arrange our chairs. 4) Breakfast - long line at the caffe' - 2 parfaits, 2 coffees, 1 muffin = $45. Summary - if you're going to charge high end prices, then I should exprect high end service and impecable cleanliness not a sloppy pool bar, duct tape covering a wall outlet, motel room setting, ripped pool umbrellas, sticky bar tops, etc.

Our rooms were lovely and well appointed. Very comfortable. Quality of food at Torpedo Lounge was excellent, but the host staff had a little trouble handling a very crowded Saturday morning, and were less than friendly about seating us. But our server and food were excellent so we will let that part go.
