Peaceful and quiet stay on a Shaker farm. The restaurant was excellent and dealt wonderfully with my allergies, the room was comfortable. The only difficulty we had was having to park farther from our room and use stairs to get to it. Make sure to check out the farm animals, gardens and pond while you're there. We'd love to stay again.

Recommend speaking with staff before reserving. Many rooms not handicap accessible. No elevators in restored buildings. Be prepared to carry luggage to third floor rooms. May not be able to park near restored building entrance. Staff was very pleasant, tour guide was very knowledgable.

Reserving through Expedia meant we had no way to ask for handicap accessibility and were given a 3rd flour room with no elevators. The facilities and properties are excellent, but as seniors with my husband having a damaged achilles tendon he needed first floor. Next time I will call Shakertown directly.

Relaxing getaway for us surrounded by nature and history. A tour was included with the stay. Gravel walking trails, horses, restaraunt on site with farm to fork philosophy. TV but limited channels...won't need it with this stay though.

Second time staying at property. LOVE IT! Quiet, historic, plenty to do. Hiking is wonderful. Enjoyed time with chickens and turkeys! Staff is sweet and helpful. Highly recommend.

Was in town for a family visit. Have stayed here before and now make a pointe to always stay when in town. Beautiful grounds and historical dwellings for all to enjoy. Love that it is on a working farm with site provided food. So glad this is maintained, corporate rooms are just nothing to compare. Wildlife, farm animals, nature trails, events, etc....

We found the unique combination of history, architecture, culture, and religion very appealing. It was like stepping back in time while traversing the premises, but with basic modern comforts and technology for our overnight accommodations. The guided informational tours were exceptional.

Just an overnight stay w one meal. The meal was delicious, the service excellent. My server was head and shoulders above all others I interacted with in terms of ability to communicate with a guest and provide hospitality. Others communicated indifference to the guest experience or a modicum of cordiality. The dining room was uncomfortably hot although the server worked to remedy that. For reference I am 6'5 and 235 pounds. I realize the charm of the traditional furnishings, but I found the furniture in the dining hall and my guest room uncomfortably small. The bath mat and shower curtain in my room were both wet when I checked in. Disappointing. Apparently this is a popular overnight destination for people with kids 2 to 10. I would encourage the proprietors to lodge families with small children separately from adults w/o small children as much as possible. Maybe they already do that, but the buildings are such that any noise outside guest rooms is clearly audible in every guest room. I didn't find the noise of unattended children roaming the building I was placed in charming. Weather prevented me from exploring the grounds much but the property is stated as 3000 acres (!) and the stated mission around preservation/education/sustainablility/ecology seems admirable. I would dine there again, but if staying overnight would probably stay in a hotel off site. The programming/tours available sounded interesting.

Shaker Village provided a lot of rich history with plenty of exhibits and tours led by very knowledgeable guides. We loved the variety of activities available and even the space to roam freely and spend time with some of the animals as well. The restaurant was hard to get a table at without a reservation, so they definitely recommend that. The food was okay, but we expected better for the price point. The yeast rolls though were the best bread I had ever had IN MY LIFE! I’d eat there again just for that! Management and service at the restaurant were very sweet, too. As far as the dwellings, it was nice to see that dogs were allowed on the property, even though we left ours at home. The common areas of the dwellings, such as hallways and stairways were pretty dusty and had a lot of cobwebs, but the room itself was mostly clean. The corners and under the bed was dusty and even had a few dead bugs in webs. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. It’s what I would expect from a place focused on history and preservation.

My friend and I stayed for one night. The grounds were beautiful and the room was very clean and comfortable. Love the way the simple shaker style has been honored while incorporating modern touches. The area is amazing, the history rich and the service excellent. Will definitely be back.

Clean , comfortable, just look at it for exactly what it is and be ok with that. Actually it’s perfect for what it is, we were just looking for a clean place to sleep. It’s not your average hotel, but it worked just fine.

Came to Danville to spend Valentine's day with my college student. Stayes at Shaker Village's East Family Dwelling. We had the 32 Queen beds room. The room is huge and lovely. It is so charming, full of characters, with a fire place (non-working) that brought you back in time. The view from the window was beautiful.

If you are looking for luxury accommodations, this may not be for you. But if you are looking for a unique stay in a Shaker farmhouse set in a beautiful and peaceful setting, book now! The furnishings in the room may be basic, two small rockers, a bed, two tables, but it is CLEAN and the bed was SUPER COMFORTABLE. There are modern touches like a Keurig and bathroom toiletries. The only thing it didn’t have that is very useful when on road trips was a small fridge or microwave. The irresistible attraction is the outdoor space. Each guest building has a fire pit and supplies for fire. Your stay gives you access to all of Shaker Village, including tours, their farm and all the many hiking trails. So many interesting things to see and do. Or do nothing at all and just enjoy the rolling hills and green space and relax. Definitely recommend a stay at Shaker Village!

I would definitely stay here again. There are amazing grounds to walk and explore, an excellent restaurant (reservations needed), and some small towns within a reasonable drive (check out Harrodsburg if you want a different restaurant or groceries). The only downsides are that most rooms require stair access (they do have some on the first floor, but you would want to ask to be sure, as floors are not described on the hotels.com description). The hardwood floors amplify noise and it can sound like a mosh pit if you’re below some energetic children who need to be sent out to play (as we were).

This is a great place to stay if you would like to experience some simple furnishings and stay in historic buildings. The room was exceptionally clean, and the bath was updated to modern standards. We were on the third floor, so our old muscles got a decent work out. You will also learn a little about the shakers.

We had a huge room - twice the size of a regular hotel room that connected with our own sitting room. We were surrounded by windows with beautiful views! Had trouble with the TV and they immediately sent someone to help. Did not report that the coffee maker didn't work.

Paid over $230 for two nights in a room that was 7’ x 12’. NOT the pictured shown when I booked. Loud! Drunks in the hallways at 2:30am stumbling around the narrow hall, falling into our thin door. Children from other building allowed to run around in our to “…burn off some energy.” Wife and 8 could not wait to check out and return home and get some sleep. Will not return nor recommend.

Really enjoyed our 1-night stay at the Old Stone Shop. The room was big and comfy. Very charming with the shaker style furniture. Beautiful view out of the 2/F windows. The stay included free tours that we really enjoyed. Walked by the restaurant and it smelled so good. Already RSVP to come by for dinner on another day!

We encountered a problem having hot water in the shower, due to the water spigot not working properly. Also, the restaurant’s breakfast hostess was very rude to us while seating. There were only two other couples in the restaurant at that time so it was not like they were busy. We opted not to go back again during our stay.

The staff made us find out way in the dark to the far cabin where we were assigned to stay. they failed to tell us we would need to walk up two very narrow stairwells without handrailings carrying all our luggage. My friend is 73! They did not offer to escort us there by driving in front of us through the dark roads leading to the cabin or to unload our luggage. We drove all the way back to the check in building and asked for a new room, which they did assign us after some pleading. Then they had us try to find that in the dark AGAIN! I called and the girl walked out of the check in building to lead us there. we were very unhappy with their lack of care for their guests. The room we stayed in was very nice, but we still had to carry luggage up a wider staircase with handrails. The employee did help carry our luggage this time.

Beautiful community. Buildings and land are well maintained and so picturesque. Information regarding buildings and Shaker culture is well displayed and very helpful. Staff giving lectures are very knowledgeable of the Shaker history. Their talks are very interesting. The restaurant's dinner servings are delicious. The restaurant staff is very attentive.
