The Grand Oaks Resort

The property is a reasonably priced placed to stay - between chefs at the time I went so the restaurant was closed. The pool needs to be cleaned. Leaves etc blow into the pool but there were cobwebs on the spa bit of it. Rooms are small but wifi was good. A reasonably priced place to stay for a night or two.

Grand Oaks was a nice place, only saw reception staff once on Saturday lunchtime, disappointed the bar/restaurant was not open over the long weekend. Very quiet and peaceful.

The hotel was on lovely large grounds, it was located about 1.5 kms uphill from the main street, so quite a walk into town. We had one dinner at the hotel restaurant, and the meal was very nice. The pool was dirty, lots of debris on the bottom so not really useable. One of the reception staff was friendly but the others I would describe as 'cool'.

The price was reasonable, and the location was quiet and cozy. The room was quite spacious, the facilities were clean, and the comfortable bed was satisfying. The shower curtain had a slight odor; it looked like it needed washing. The pool didn't seem perfectly maintained—there were quite a few leaves, and the water didn't look clean. However, the overall hotel service and atmosphere were satisfying during my stay.

Grand Oak is in a fantastic location , it is very quiet ( great for a good nigts sleep) , plenty of parking, the restaurant and bar is great and the barman is excellent . The pool is just adequate, could be better with greenery , some plants around and some lounge chairs, other than that we had a great stay, we can recommend this resort/ hotel

Maybe was grand in another era, but updates on it have been done on the cheap side , pool was very sad looking . Wouldn’t bother staying there again I believe there would be other places in town better value

Started with a phone call from Michelle to check what time we would be arriving. Told if no one at reception there would be a envelope under the mat with our room key. Arrived and there was staff to check us in, basically gave us envelope. Got to room. Spacious. But no towels. Luckily trolley still in corridor so grabbed some towels. Bed comfortable. Lovely grounds and surroundings. Quiet. Restaurant not open Sunday Monday. Chefs days off. Reason we booked asit was out of town but had to go to town for dinner. Also didn't have licence to sell alcohol as had changed ownership. Room had toilet and basin in one room. Across the room was a shower in a cupboard. Assuming it was old Asylum . Not a huge deal but different. 4 star toilet paper 1 ply ???? Once they are settled with newcowners should be great. Pool and grounds very peaceful. Just check if restaurant open.

Beautiful little hotel. The rooms are small, but super comfy. Lovely pool to go for a dip. Close to town. Lovely staff. And the food is great! Definitely exceeded the expecation for the price. Would stay again.

No alcohol licence in restaurants

We had to keep asking whoever, the toiletries to be stocked in our room. There was no one at reception most of the time and the hall light did not go on until 8am. We had to check in ourselves as there was no one at reception.The breakfast was non existent, toast cereal for $10 and tea and coffee was an extra fee.No phone and USB connection. Nowhere to put your suitcase and we had to ask for milk twice. We would NOT recommend this place until the above is fixed. Simply disgraceful.😡😡

Staff were very helpful, reasonable price. Place is a little dated now. Room could have been a bit better vacuumed.

Facilities were excellent and reasonably modern, with the staff bright and eager to help. The Grand Oaks was an easy 5 minute drive from the centre of town and was an enjoyable short stay. The only disappointments were not refreshing bathroom towels and mats daily, only a single suitcase stand in a King suite, and the Reverse Cycle A/C struggled to keep the room heated to a comfortable temperature.

This was my 2nd stay at Grand Oaks with my partner, and while we were happy to return to Beechworth and to see the staff, unfortunately we didn’t have as good a stay as last time. Hot water didn’t work consistently, I think due to the resort being fully booked out as this wasn’t the case last time. I could hear the couple in the room next door complaining about this issue as well, and I heard them raise the issue with the resort staff, but the issue was still not rectified for our room. The room I stayed in also wasn’t cleaned or reset properly. The sheets were changed each day but the floor wasn’t vacuumed, nor was the bathroom counter wiped down during our stay. There aren’t any cleaning items provided in the rooms for guests to be able to do this themselves, I think this would be a good idea. I would recommend staying at this property on quieter visits to Beechworth (e.g outside of public holiday long weekends or big events)

Property and service was great. Rooms were warm and it was cold (3c) outside. While the rooms were a little small the everything was very clean and nice. You do have to drive to get into town at night.

The room that was on the website was different to the room that was given to us. It was a very small room with double bed, not much space to move around. Bathroom floor shower floor and vanity was dirty. Shower floor had dirt and hair, vanity had hair and blood on the side of the bowl. There was no flat sheet on the bed, the doona was dirty. The room next door was noisy, there was no sound proof we could hear everything and kept us up till very late. The name GRAND Oak hotel does not fit the description of the room that was provided. We couldn’t wait to leave, it was disgusting.

Receptionist was not overly engaging or provided too much information on the resort activities, facilities etc! While the room was very comfortable, the shower water was either boiling hot or freezing cold. The toilet cistern buttons were broken, although they did work after pushing on the correct spot.

Nice location, the double room was very small, not even a bench or table to put suitcases on. Motel is very noisy, any noise in corridor or adjoining rooms could be heard in the room

We booked the Delux King suite with the Spa Bath. The Spa bath disnt work at all, the pump made a really loud noise and turned itself off. The was NO hot water at the afternoon, at night, or in thw morning. We had to have a 30sec FreeIng cold shower in winter!.. The food at the onsite Reaturant, was below average. Which was just a whole nother level of disappointment.... Will not be going there again, nor would i recommend it!

I would have liked to give a higher rating, but have to drop it a bit because the walls between rooms are paper thin. We had a loud couple on one side and a crying baby (no-one's fault) on the other, so it was pretty hard to relax. The food was good and the staff very attentive. Set in a nice location.

Rooms were very small- my fault for not investigating that it was the old kerford clinic- paid more money for a shoebox of a room than the night before in a lovely motel The receptionist was gorgeous, friendly, inviting and helpful- a beautiful girl

Overall we enjoyed our stay, however there were a few things that dampened our trip. My confirmation email stated that check in time was between 2pm and 9pm, so we went out for lunch and planned to go for a walk before coming to check in. However, at 1pm we received a call from a staff member there asking when we are coming to check in, I said we would be around an hour and she said “if you’re going to be longer can you please call and let us know”. So we felt rushed, and skipped our walk and just went straight there to avoid any issues. The room was quite nice, bed was comfortable and there was lots of space. Great spa bath too. Only problem with the amenities was that it was very challenging to get the temperature right, the water kept going from steaming hot to freezing cold. Another issue we had was that there was an adjoining door between our Deluxe King and the room next door. It was locked, however there was light beaming through from their room in the middle of the night and we could hear everything going on in their room, including the TV and some other interesting noises….. I would think that paying for the most expensive room would mean we wouldn’t have an adjoining room with a random… But the overall quality was okay. The location was lovely and close to the main town.

Stay here is amazing. Warm and friendly. Love the staff as they make me feel so welcome. Amelia from Fiji is just amazing, friendly and so giving with her time and information on Beechworth. She made me feel right at home.

Staff excellent

Upon arrival the male staff member that did our check in was excellent. However, when needing help to store our bikes in the storage facility provided. The female staff member ( Simone) was extremely rude to stay least. We felt like an inconvenience and not welcomed at all. Otherwise, good place to stay. We will think twice in our booking next time. Beautiful trees nearby. Receptionist was pretty disinterested, not particularly friendly or helpful, she just wanted to go home for the night. Otherwise all pretty good. Comfy, clean room. One of the bathroom ceiling lights was broken & you could see into the ceiling cavity. And my room window wouldn’t open. Pool was a little disused but clean enough to swim in (which I did) with lovely outlook. I would stay here again.

Absolutely love it here. Gorgeous place and a beautiful location with a lot to do. The staff are exceptional and I felt at home straight away.

We stayed in one of the small rooms and it was comfortable and clean. It was in a great quiet location and the motel was quite pretty and common areas were nicely decorated. Happy we stayed there and the price was excellent for Beechworth.

Quiet location with beautiful surrounds, 10 minute walk to the centre of town.

We liked the spectacular park surrounds with giant oaks and trees of all sorts. The Old buildings were beautiful although sadly uncared for. We loved the peace and quiet and the lovely air. We would stay there again but in a bigger (more expensive) room Comfortable bed and window overlooking parkland.

The rooms were lovely. We understand that there was staff shortages therefore the restaurant was closed. But it would have been nice if the tables and chairs out the back were not covered in spilled drinks and cobwebs so we could at least enjoy some cheese and crackers. There was no staff on to ask for a cloth.

No meals on Tuesday nights! half-slices of thin white bread for the “continental breakfast.” No fruit or fruit juice. Sole employee who made the coffee, also vacuumed the reception area and worked the till! Grand Oak is a misnomer… it’s Grand Joke!

We enjoyed our stay, especially the 2 evenings we ate in the restaurant. Food was outstanding and the service from Loki was first class. The Hotel seemed understaffed and he was doing everything with a smile and top-class. Breakfast is simple. The hotel should ensure that their morning staff are suitably trained. The least they should know is how to take a card payment, the difference between a mug and a cup, and that a cup of coffee comes with a saucer. That said, we did enjoy our stay and would return.
