Lodge at Schroon Lake

Property was great…loved the amenities. Mini golf was especially fun. The pool was nice, the hot tub was closed when we wanted to go in…very disappointing! We booked to have that after a long hike. The pool and hot tub are also only open from 8am to 8pm. We were never back in time to enjoy the pool. Dinner at 6:30 brings you back at 8. Our room was a 3rd floor walk up. Fine for my family but we saw people struggling with carrying their luggage up. The room had a terribly strong odor that lasted for over 24hrs. I would have asked for a different room but my family was not that bothered by it. Beds were comfy, balcony was cute, bathtub was dated, moldy caulking all around and the tub had been painted white and was chipping a lot. All in all there were some positives and negatives. I wouldn’t pay a lot to stay here but for the price we payed it was fine.

We stumbled upon this place a couple years ago and now going in the fall has become an annual tradition. It’s such a fun place with so much to do on-site (pool, mini golf, we love the Brown Swan for dinner, smores kits, etc) and just a short walk into town for delicious coffee at 9 Mile and more good food. We’ve found some great hiking nearby too, and this time saw a bear on our drive up to the Buffalo farm which was an added bonus. The price has increased significantly since we went last year but it seems like they have added live music, more activities and more staff so maybe that’s why. I love it here, it’s my favorite place in the ADKs- I have recommended it to so many people and already booked for next year!

This is a great spot to go with family and friends. There is a lot to do - boating, swimming, miniature golf, soccer, gaga, and volleyball to name a few. There is also a well maintained game room and other activities throughout the day. They serve HUGE delicious cookies and fruit infused water on the lobby throughout the day. They are dog friendly and it is a short walk to town, which made it nice, as the town had some festivities and a farmer’s market, along with some shops. I am big on the environment and was disappointed by the use of plastic cups and lack of recycling on premises. I also was a bit turned off by how I accommodating the staff was for dinner - we were hoping for outdoor seating and were told they didn’t do tables of four outdoors. We were with our dog and our only option appeared to be take away - not the most environmentally friendly option, especially when there was additional seating and tables just a short walk away from the main restaurant area. My husband wrote a review and they do appear to have changed this, as he noted that the area where we ate had table numbers and appeared to be open to guests for dining. The food was good, but the salad with steak that we ordered was lacking in toppings - not worth the price. It would also be helpful to add some more vegetable options to the menu - even if ala carte. It would be nice to have some healthy options, especially for the kids. That said - we would definitely return and plan to visit again this summer.

The Lodge was beautifully appointed. It had various seating spaces throughout the main room. Each had its own personality. The gorgeous wrapped around bar was closed for the winter season. The gym was well equipped. The beautiful pool along with the sauna and hot tub were encased with floor to ceiling windows which allowed picturesque views of Schroon Lake and the lovely grounds. The accomodations included a coffee machine, Mini frig, plenty of towels, comfortable beds and pillows. The elevator s made it convenient for the check in, check out process. The staff went out of their way to help with any concerns. Reasonably priced for the winter months.

Great New Hotel with Fun Amenities Stayed a couple of nights at this brand new hotel and really enjoyed the stay. The pool and game room were highlights, and it was super convenient having a bar and restaurant right in the lobby. The outdoor amenities were a nice surprise too — mini golf, a few sports options, and beautiful scenery all around made for a relaxing time. The only downside was that there wasn’t much going on in the area, especially at night. Could be due to the time of year (we went in the Fall), and things just seemed to be getting started. Overall, great place to unwind with lots of on-site activities — just don’t expect much nightlife.

Wow! We absolutely loved The Lodge at Schroon Lake! What's not to??? This place has it all! Outdoor games, indoor games, a very good sized indoor pool and hot tub, a sauna, on site dining, fire pits, a very clean swimmable lake, paddle boarding, kayaks, and a downtown that's about a 5ish minute walk! From the moment we checked in we knew we had chosen a great spot for or mini getaway! We only stayed Sunday thru Wednesday but will definitely be staying a week or more next time! We had a lovely day at the private beach swimming and paddle boarding We also rented a kayak and had a blast exploring all day long! The indoor pool and game room were a must every night and we lloved all the extra touches the staff put into our stay. The always available hot beverages and cookies!!! in the main lobby! Hannah who worked at The Bevy and the next night as our server at Brown Swan was so personable and so friendly! She made us feel very welcomed! Also Jason who was a bartender at The Tavern - even when very busy he was accommodating and friendly. We appreciated all the planned activities on site as well! Movie Nights and S'mores by the fire pits! They even have GaGa Ball! We had such a fun time as a family - thank you to everyone on staff! We will definitely be returning!

We are frequent summer visitors to their restaurant who decided to book a night to celebrate a birthday. The property is beautifully renovated, staff very nice and immaculately clean. Too cold to take advantage of the beautiful outdoor fire pits but their indoor facilities including beautiful pool, hot tub and well equipped game room provided all we needed.

The marina experience was exceptional. The restaurant experience was good, but they ran out of chicken wings and so, I’m hesitant to say we got good experience. The check-in/check-out experience was bad. They charged us a higher rate than what I reserved in Expedia. There is no phone in the room, no microwave, no safe and no elevator. The parking for main building is all the way in the back of the property. The pickleball court is shared with basketball court and the pool is only available until 8pm. There is not enough firepit available for guests to do the smores.

Charming resort. Beautiful property. Restaurant on site very good. Indoor swimming pool only no outdoor pool. There is a private lake beach across the street although a pretty small area. Plans for beach area expansion underway for next season. Staff very professional and accommodating. Property is continuing to make more updates. Looking forward to what's coming.

Grounds are gorgeous. Boat dock and beach are across the street from Lodge. Staff, from the guest experience manager, to the room stewards, and especially the maintenance staff went above and beyond to be helpful.

our room was on the first floor and the floor was damp. the overhead bed lamp fell off the wall. The room was lie a dark damp cave. The grounds were beautiful but...... It may have been because we booked through expedia instead of directly?

It was very clean, comfortable and beautiful! It was quite and had great views.

I loved the pool. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The things we did not like was garbage outside of the entrance from the parking lot littered with empty soda cups and food garbage such as a large shrimp from someone's dinner. Also did not like having to walk through the lounge in a bathing suit and towel to go to the pool. But the pool was nice. It just needs to be more private. Also the parking in the back of the resort was inconvenient. We had to walk up steep steps without a railing to hold up to the building. Also no elevator to the top floor. We had to climb several stairs to get to our room.

The West Lodge had a smell like sewage and it took a while for me to air out my room. I needed to take a towel and wipe down the pollen from the chairs outside as they were completely covered in pollen. The grounds were very nice and the restaurant was delicious!

The grounds were beautiful, well maintained, gorgeous lake scenery, full of trees, fresh air, and plenty of space for family and pets. My room was very nice, despite staff being very friendly, housekeeping only cleaned the bathroom and failed to make our bed, but did not forget to grab the tip left on the unmade bed. The shower pressure was relatively poor, additionally our room was located beside access stairs that created a lot of noise from guests accessing their respective floors. The BBQ Event was a big miss, the very nice Chefs at the Brown Swan were not given the tools to succeed, they were tasked to feed a lot of guests on an underwhelmingly small grill, many attendees complained on the lack of direction, preparation, and communication from Staff Management. The Brown Swan Restaurant had a great Breakfast Spread, and the servers had excellent client services, especially Emily from Albany, she was terrific. I believe in the evening that the restaurant's kitchen closes preemptively early not giving guests a chance to grab a meal. I did love that the establishment is pet friendly, we brought our dog on this trip, and we were very happy to see other dogs having a good time as well. The area overall is lovely, easy drive to Lake George and Lake Placid. I recommend everyone who chooses to stay here to opt for a Chalet for the parking convenience. I noticed plenty of new staff, development and direction for them will make their operation better for them and their guests.

My wife and I and our 11 year-old twins stayed for 1 night last month in the West Lodge. The front desk folks were very pleasant and checked us in quickly. The West Lodge allows pets, which I didn't catch when making the reservation. We're dog lovers so no worries there. However, upon entering the room there was a very strong urine odor. We attempted to get another room but they were sold out. A very apologetic maintenance person was sent up promptly but really couldn't remediate the problem. It was a tough night. We had dinner at the Brown Swan that evening and breakfast the next morning as well. The food was absolutely delicious. However, the wait staff, while very friendly (as were all lodge employees we encountered), seemed undertrained or new. It took an eternity to get our drinks (a vodka soda and prosecco-nothing complicated) and the food took even longer. The restaurant was only about half full which made the delays even more perplexing. The long delays nearly ruined an otherwise very tasty meal. I think perhaps they are having some staffing/growing pains? The front desk gave us a $50 discount for the urine smell issue which we were grateful for, but all in all, we would probably not return perhaps unless we could get one of the chalets which have amazing views.

This place is brand new and they are still working on getting things together. I have full confidence that it will be amazing when they are done. The staff are very friendly and go above and beyond to serve guests. The restaurant had fantastic food and service. The only downside is that the building we stayed in did not seem to have any insulation in the walls or floor so it was quite noisy the first night (TV next door) and both nights with footsteps upstairs. Hopefully they'll deal with that.

The property is beautiful and well maintained, but the rooms are uncomfortable and very noisy. We were up half the night with doors slamming and kids screaming in the halls. Also, tiny bathroom with no shelf in shower to place soap or shampoo. We asked for two foam pillows instead of feather due to allergies, but we were never accommodated. There was a power outage during our stay that lasted from early evening into the next morning. We asked for a credit for one night’s stay so we could find a comfortable place to stay for the night miles away from the outage, but they wouldn’t accommodate us saying it was “an act of god”. They gave us two glow sticks to use for light instead. They could have at least given us credit for their “resort fee” since none of the services were available, but refused. Very disappointed in our stay. Such a beautiful place should treat their customers better than this.

If you want to escape the city noise like me, this hotel is NOT for you. The poor construction structure of this hotel does not suffice the level of expectations I had before I booked this hotel for my Labor Day getaway. The website’s picture-perfect scenery of the beautiful place turned out to be chaotic. The hotel rooms are not soundproof! You can even hear the whispers from the adjacent rooms. The stomping noise on the top floor was excruciating for me to deal with during my stay. I had a long hour drive back home and was unable to recover from the sleepless nights it caused me.

Very nicely renovated. There is no food or beverage available after 9:00. No snack machines or anything so just plan accordingly. After night #1 I made a plan. AC was a little dysfunctional, and my window was screwed shut. Bring a screw gun if you want fresh air (I was on the 2nd floor).

Comfortable, clean, and beautiful. I got a room with a queen bed and bunk beds for the kids, and we all loved it. The pool and hot tub were convenient and fun. Everything is made of wood, and it looks so pretty.

Nice place but beds and pillows need upgrading

The property is gorgeous, the only reason I gave them 4/5 starts is because I did not get the room I booked and paid extra for. We planned a little get away with my family and drove 5 hours to capture the beautiful colors of fall. I booked a “lake view” room and paid extra through Expedia. When we got there we were given a room overlooking the parking lot. They were booked with a wedding that weekend and were sold out of rooms, but offered to move lake view the following day. It was a yes and no on my mind because packing everything and moving again with a toddler is not ideal. The receptionist said it will be available as soon as they clean it and is a priority. It was now 3:30PM the following day when I got the text that a lake view room was available. Who wants to move everything at that hour, just to check out the following morning. So we staid and made the best of it. It was very disappointing not to get the lake view and pay extra. It was nice they tried to accommodate but I was not going to spend my full day there moving rooms. I felt like they could have offered a gift card to their restaurant or bar or something to accommodate for the customer service. Moral of the story is If you book through Expedia double check with the hotel and make sure you get what you paid for!

Beautiful and well maintained property with a cool games room and a restaurant on site, the room was quite large compared to expectations with modern TV with a view of the mountains. Great price here in the off-season, chain hotels charge far more for far less. Probably best hotel in 60 miles.

Everything was fine about the lodge BUT it was very loud at night, kids playing on the piano at 11:45 pm with little supervision and no regard for other guests. Tried to call the front desk but no answer!

What a great job they did with this property. Very friendly and personable staff. From the front desk to the bar and especially the General manager walking around and meeting guests. Top notch service.

Just stayed at the Lodge at Schroon Lake for a quick snowboard trip at Gore Mtn. Everything about this place is pristine and really well finished. Amazing design in rooms and common areas, heated pool, sauna, 24hr gym, and truly exceptional staff. Brian, a manager, was one of the best and most helpful employees I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. I got this place at steal for a midweek stay but man is it worth so much more. Don’t hesitate.

My experience at The Lodge at Schroon Lake was terrible. I did not feel welcome when I arrived at the front desk. The communication and directions from the front desk to my room were not clear at all, and there was no sign indicating that you were at the correct building for your room. The staff made me feel like I didn't belong there. This place is not a friendly environment, and I will not recommend it.

The renovations on the lodge are really nice. Unfortunately they're still drastically understaffed. So much so that they couldn't open the main bar in the lodge area on Saturday night of a holiday weekend. When we checked in a lot of people's rooms weren't ready so I saw at least 7-8 groups of people (including us) waiting over an hour past check-in time to get their rooms. The manager was off getting the rooms cleaned which left only one woman checking everyone in at a peak time. The restaurant would be mostly empty but people had to wait to be seated because there were only 2 waitresses. The rooms are nice but they still need the little things - like a couple more towel bars/racks in the bathroom, luggage rack... Overall it was OK but I won't be back unless they are fully staffed.

My recent stay at the resort was a mix of highs and lows. The resort itself is quite nice, with a welcoming lobby and a very comfortable room that made my stay pleasant. However, the overall experience was marred by inconsistent customer service. The staff exhibited varying levels of engagement; some were helpful and enthusiastic, while others seemed disinterested. This inconsistency was particularly evident when it came to amenities like beach towels. Sometimes they were readily available, other times they were in the laundry with a promise to be ready in 30 minutes, and occasionally they were simply not available at all with no further solution provided. One of the most frustrating aspects was that if the staff didn’t know the answer to a request or couldn’t provide a service, they offered no alternatives – just a straightforward “no” without any effort to find a solution. Additionally, housekeeping service requests were not communicated clearly, leading to confusion. On the food front, the tavern offered good meals that I enjoyed, but the food from the bevy was disappointing in both quality and variety. Overall, while the resort had its strengths, the inconsistent service and some disappointing dining options detracted from what could have been a much better stay.

Great location and facilities. Very family friendly. Restaurant excellent. Area much less crowded than Lake George and Schroon Lake public beach is perfect for swimming and kids beach sand activity.

Very clean , comfortable bed and bedding, friendly staff,Beautiful dock area to sit on with chairs and tables right on the lake. S’mores set up each night by the fire. Down side was there is a lot of walking to get to the above amenities and steep paved paths to get around the property It would be challenging for elderly or people with health issues.

Went for a quick girls trip. The village of Schroon Lake is a close walk away. Property has gorgeous Adirondack charm. Great restaurant and bar!

Awesome property, well managed. Beautiful location for scenic views. Lot of activities for kids as well as grown ups.

We stayed for one night. Beautiful property with awesome views of Scroon lake and walkable to town and Pitkins Restaurant.

This newly repurposed as a lodge property is absolutely a slice of heave. Breathtaking views, rolling grounds with mature pines and plenty of colorful flowers, an amazing restaurant, The Brown Swan, an indoor pool that is just wonderful, activities, lake access, very pet friendly and so peaceful! The staff was very friendly, our 1br 2Q suite was sparkling clean with crisp comfortable beds, lots of storage space and tasteful new furnishing. The overall property decor is a magnificent blend of storied Adirondack Camp and modern natural crafting. It is just beautiful. We appreciated the free all-day coffee, the 24-hr game room with springy new billiard tables and air hockey, the insanely comfortable great room/lounge seating and its fireplace, the outdoor fire pit (and marshmallows!) and the ample parking. We enjoyed our stay so much we extended it by 2 days. I am surprised that others have mentioned noise from rooms above; anyone who has ever spent time in historic lodging (or even a beach motel) should understand that footfalls from the floor above are a thing. I really cannot say anything negative about this amazing lodge. Simply heaven!

We had a great stay. Didn't realize the breakfast was not included. But it was delicious.

Resort is amazing. I think we were there slightly before the season starts but weather was perfect. The wait staff could use a little more training.

The grounds are beautifully kept with flowers well maintained. The entrance to the main lodge is open, well lit and welcoming. The room was updated and clean. You must close your room door hard to lock. The breakfast service at the Brown Swan was horrible. We waited extremely long to order then receive our food. The coffee was cold and our eggs were lukewarm. I was looking forward to the egg white frittata to be only minimally satisfied. I would not recommend dining here. Check out is simple-drop your key at the front desk and leave.

The Lodge is newly renovated so everything is very new amd clean. There are only a few changes I think management should make that would have had mengive a 5 star rating. -For the cost we are paying to stay here, breakfast should be free every day not just weekdays. On the weekend I had to pay $17 plus tax and tip for breakfast. -Breakfast is the same exact thing every single day. There is somewhat of an assorment, but they should have different foods every day. -Serve more kid friendly foods at the Bevy and save the fine dining foods for The Brown Swan. There are not many options for eating in Schroon Lake and most places close early so it would be nice to grab a burger and fries, chicken wings/fingers, etc right in the main lodge. Mostly all of the food is "fine dining", things the kids won't really eat and very expensive. I wasn't thrilled with the dinner options. - Once again for the price we are paying, Housekeeping should be provided daily. Not every 3rd day or so. We checked in on Wednesday, by Friday our garbage was overflowing from being 5 people. Housekeeping did not have us on the list to clean that day, but the woman was very nice and came and dis a full cleaning for us anyway. They came automatically on Saturday again. -The suites with kitchenette should have some accessories such as plates, cups, sponge, dish soap and a larger fridge. These things are not that expensive and in every suite style hotel I have stayed the rooms always come equipped.

Cheap construction meant that the children running up and down the halls could be heard very clearly in the room. Pillows were horrible, the room smelled of mildew, and the Brown Swam restaurant was horribly overpriced for the quality and accuracy of the food. Don't waste your money.

Great facilities and staff. Avoid breakfast as the food quality is really poor compared to nearby options. Not a deterrent for me, would still stay here again, just without breakfast.
